From August 3 to 9, the Orthodox exhibition-fair “Nizhny Novgorod region - the land of Seraphim of Sarov” is running at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair.

From August 3 to 9, with the blessing of Metropolitan George of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, the Orthodox exhibition-fair “Nizhny Novgorod region - the land of Seraphim of Sarov” will be held in Nizhny Novgorod. 2018 is an anniversary year for the exhibition, which has been taking place in Nizhny Novgorod for 15 years. During all this time, it was visited by more than 1 million people from different regions of the country.

The official opening ceremony of the exhibition will take place on August 3 at 12:00 in the chapel of pavilion No. 1 of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair and will be accompanied by a solemn prayer service in front of the shrine - the icon of the Royal Passion-Bearers from the Holy Ascension Pechersky Monastery.

The exhibition will be located in the 1st and 3rd pavilions of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair and will unite 500 Orthodox and secular organizations from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Greece, Moldova, Montenegro, Mongolia, Israel, Georgia and Syria.

In the 1st pavilion at the stands of more than 200 monasteries and temples, locally revered shrines, church utensils, personalized icons, various jewelry, CDs and DVDs with lectures and conversations by priests, clothes from Orthodox fashion designers, healing ointments and honey from monastery apiaries, Orthodox souvenirs will be presented topics. The Patriarchal Publishing and Printing Center of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra and the Father's House Publishing House will offer a wide selection of Orthodox literature. For the first time, the Rock Monastery of St. Thekla from the city of Maaloula (Syria), one of the main Christian shrines of the country, will take part in the exhibition.

In the 3rd pavilion Secular organizations and entrepreneurs will present to visitors traditional and exclusive varieties of honey, Chinese teas, cold-pressed oils, seasonings and spices, sweets and confitures, dairy products from the Arzamas region, olives from Greece. A wide range of clothing and accessories: leather and fur products, vintage dresses made from natural fabrics, Indian silk products, Mongolian and Riga knitwear, Yelets lace and Pavloposad shawls, genuine leather bags. Traditionally, the exhibition presents health products, Kubachi silver, cosmetics from Russia and Greece, sleep products from St. Petersburg, decorative items made of wood, plaster, leather and clay.

Social and educational program The exhibition was formed with the participation of 7 departments of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese. Every day, prayer services will be served in the exhibition chapel at 12:00, 15:00 and 18:00, educational conversations with priests will be held in the conference room, and spiritual problems will be discussed at the “Questions to the Father” stand. For the fourth year now, with the support of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, The festival “Family of Nizhny Novgorod” is taking place as part of the exhibition., aimed at developing the activities of children, their parents, grandparents. The festival events will take place on the street area of ​​the Nizhny Novgorod Fair between pavilions 1 and 3. The program is selected taking into account the interests of all generations of the family. The festival will include a job fair, consultations on calculating pensions and maternity capital, as well as computer literacy classes. Free consultations from lawyers, psychologists, speech therapists, and social service workers are organized. The main shrine of the exhibition this year was the icon of the Holy Royal Passion-Bearers from the Nizhny Novgorod Ascension Pechersky Monastery. The opening ceremony of the forum was preceded by a prayer service in front of this image in the chapel of the exhibition complex.

The service was led by a vicar. His Eminence was co-served by the secretary of the diocesan administration, Archpriest Sergius Matveev, the dean of the Kanavinsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese, Archpriest Sergius Simagin, the rector of the Annunciation Monastery, Archimandrite Alexander (Lukin), deans of church districts, and the clergy of the diocese.

Praying during the service were the Chairman of the Committee on Property and Land Relations of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Andrei Tarasov, the General Director of the Uzorochye exhibition company Sergei Alekseev, the Minister of Education, Science and Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Sergei Zlobin, as well as visitors and participants of the exhibition. The stands of more than 200 monasteries and churches display icons, books, church utensils, various jewelry, CDs with lectures and conversations with priests, etc. For the first time, the Orthodox convent of St. Thekla from the Syrian city of Maaloula will take part in the exhibition.

Also taking part in the forum is presenting its new publications: prayer books, calendar and liturgical publications for 2019, spiritual and educational publications, books addressed to children and youth, educational publications, as well as a wide range of liturgical books.

The central place at the Publishing House’s stand is occupied by the works of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, including the recently published book “Holy Rus', Keep the Orthodox Faith: To the 1030th Anniversary of the Baptism of Rus'”, a book - publication from the series “The Word of His Holiness the Patriarch”, as well as the eleventh Collection works of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill - the third volume of series IV (“Word to those near and far”), containing the words, speeches and addresses of the First Hierarch, delivered during trips to Russia and countries near and far abroad. Visitors will also be able to familiarize themselves with the new book of His Holiness, dedicated to the holy saints of God, as well as the new martyrs and confessors of the Russian Church of the 20th century.

As part of the exhibition-fair, an extensive social and educational program is planned, prepared by departments of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese. Prayers are held daily in the chapel of the exhibition pavilion at 12.00, 15.00 and 18.00. Educational conversations with priests will be held in the conference room. With the support of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the annual festival “Nizhny Novgorod Family” will be held as part of the fair for the fourth time.
