How to make a potion in minecraft 1.9. Potions in Minecraft: recipes for making potions. Strengthening and Ingredients

Not limited to crafting and redstone. There is also potions, which we will talk about today.

Part 1. Items.

Without a portal to the Lower World, there can be no talk of potion making, because. most items are taken from there. When you have evolved and already have access to Hell, you need to find ifrits and get the rods from them, which we will need to make a brewing stand - the most important item in potion brewing. Plus, we also need cobblestone, but this is rubbish, which is full in the world of Minecraft. We also need a boiler. It is used to store water (can be filled with a bucket), three flasks can be filled from a full cauldron. The flask is used to store and carry all potions.

Part 2. Craft necessary.

Well, to the point. We start crafting. To begin with, let's craft the simplest thing - a flask. We look at the picture:

Made simple. Now let's move on to the main one. Cooking Rack:

Part 3. Antidote.

If you are going to test a damaging potion on yourself, then you will need an antidote. The antidote is regular milk.

Part 4. Reagents.

Reagents are needed to change the potion. They can:

Reverse the effect of the potion.

Extend the effect of the potion.

Part 4.1. Basic reagents.

Base Affecting Reagents are needed to create Primary and Tertiary Potions and change the duration and intensity of Tertiary Potions' effects:

Characteristics

Main ingredient for Potions of Weakness

Causes negative effects.

Main ingredient for thick potion

Enhances effects

Main ingredient for Rough potion, with which you can make any potion that has an effect.

Main ingredient for Unremarkable potion

Increases the duration of effects.

Being added to a level II potion weakens it.

When added to any potion, it makes it explode.

Reduces the duration of effects.

Part 4.2. Base-producing reagents.

Base-producing reagents are used to create both primary and secondary potions, but they do not affect duration or intensity.

Part 4.3. Manufacturing reagents.

Producing reagents are mixed with basic potions to give the potion the effect that the potion will give the player when they drink it. Here is a list of the main producing reagents:

Regeneration

fire resistance

Poisoning

Speed

Night vision

underwater breathing

Powerful jump

Part 4.4. Connected reagents.

Linked reagents are reagents made from a pair of base reagents. They are used to create tertiary potions with new effects.

The table below lists the tertiary reagents:

Prepare cooking utensils. You will need a few items to create the potion, as well as a source of water. The necessary items must be created using a workbench.

  • Stove for cooking (Brewing Stand). It is needed to brew the potion. You can craft it by placing three blocks of cobblestone in the bottom row of the workbench and one Blaze Rod in its center square.
  • Boiler (Cauldron). A cauldron isn't actually required to brew a potion, but you can keep water in it. A bucket of water is placed in the cauldron, which is enough to fill three bottles. A cauldron can be made by placing seven iron ingots in the outer spaces of a workbench, leaving the top center and middle spaces empty.
  • Glass bottles. In them you will store your potions. The bottles can be taken from the witches or fished out of the water, but you can also make them yourself by placing three glass blocks in the cells of the workbench: one block in the lower center cell, the second in the left middle cell, and the third block in the right middle cell. At one time you will make three bottles.
  • Gather Nether Wart. Infernal Growth is the main ingredient for almost all potions in Minecraft. The only potion that doesn't use it is the Potion of Weakness.

    • Infernal Growth you will collect in the Nether. Look for it in abandoned fortresses, especially near stairs.
    • Infernal Growth can be grown by planting it in Soul Sand. This way, you will not spend a lot of time collecting it, especially if you need to make a lot of potions.
  • Gather additional ingredients. The main ingredient will not be enough. The effect of each potion will depend on the additional ingredient.

    • Spider Eye. You can take spider eyes from spiders or witches, and you can also find them in spider caves. They are used to make poison potions.
    • Brilliant Melon (Blistering Melon). You can craft a Shiny Melon using the Workbench by placing eight Gold Ingots around the Melon. It is needed to make a healing potion.
    • Golden Carrot. It can also be made at a workbench by placing eight gold bars around one carrot. Use this ingredient to make a Potion of Night Vision.
    • Sparkling Powder (Blaze Powder). You can make it from a Fire Rod and it is used to brew a strength potion.
    • Pickled Spider Eye (Fermented Spider Eye). It is made from spider eyes, mushrooms, and sugar. Used to make a Potion of Weakness.
    • Spiny Bubble Fish (Pufferfish). You will need to fish it out and use it to brew a potion that will give you the ability to breathe underwater.
    • Ointment from Magma (Magma Cream). You will need to take the magma from the Lava Mobs. Then make an ointment by combining it in a workbench with Glittering Powder and a wad of slime. Used to make fireproof potion.
    • Sugar. Sugar can be made from sugar cane. It is used to make potions that increase speed.
    • Tear of Gast (Ghast Tear). You will receive tears from gast mobs. Getting a tear is not so easy, since ghasts usually fly over lava. The ingredient is used for a potion that will restore health levels.
    • Rabbit's foot (Rabbit's Foot). The paws will be provided by the rabbits. Use them to make a potion that will increase the strength of your jumps. But you can only use it in Minecraft 1.8.
  • Add more ingredients. You can improve your potion by adding some additional ingredient to it. It will generally increase the duration of your potion's effect. Or the potion will be easier to throw at enemies.

    • Redstone. To get the Red Stone, you need to dig up the Red Ore (Redstone Ore). This ingredient increases the duration of the potion.
    • Glowstone Dust. It can be obtained by breaking a Glowstone block. From one block of stone, you can get up to four blocks of dust. It enhances the effect of the potion, but also reduces its duration.
    • Gunpowder. It can be taken from Creepers, Gasts, or Witches. With it, you will be able to throw your potion.
    • Pickled spider eye. You can add this ingredient again to change your potion. But be aware that the eye can also ruin it.
  • The game is devoid of any meaning without magical potions that give the player positive and negative effects. In this guide, we will tell you how to brew potions in Minecraft. This is quite a fun activity! The character will be able to move quickly, jump higher, swim in lava, be protected from skeleton arrows, instantly restore health, become invisible and much more. You just need to learn the basics of potions in Minecraft. To do this, players need to craft a brewing stand. The main ingredient for crafting a new gadget is a fire rod, mined in the hellish fortresses of the Nether dimension and dropped from Ifrit mobs. Required recipes are included below.

    crafting recipes

Potions are bottled in two types of glass bottles. All cooking recipes in Minecraft are also listed below. To create a drinking potion, you need to place a flask filled with ordinary water on the counter and add the necessary ingredients. The second type is exploding test tubes that spread the effect at a distance. To use this type of potion in Minecraft, you need to add gunpowder. The bottle will change its appearance and can be thrown like a grenade.

Before we tell you how to make a potion, let's figure out what it is and why it is needed in Minecraft at all. We will also tell you how to find the necessary ingredients for their preparation and how to mix ready-made potions with powders to enhance the effect.

    What are potions?

In the game, they are self-cooking objects that have various temporary effects on the player they are applied to. By mixing different ingredients with water, many types of potions can be created that can harm, heal, or buff the player or opponents.

A potion can only have one effect at a time: for example, it cannot heal the player and increase their running speed at the same time. To get both, you need to alternately drink two different potions: healing and swiftness.

Since the change in Minecraft 1.9 Beta Prerelease 2, there are a number of potions that are not used, they cannot be cooked. But they can be obtained using the "/give" command, they are not found in the game in other ways. Many of them are simple potions no longer used, such as cleansing or strength. Therefore, we will not talk about them in this article.

To create potions, you need to place the required ingredients on the brewing stand. We will talk about how to craft a rack below.

How to make a potion in Minecraft

They are obtained by boiling with water and various ingredients, offering a variety of effects. There is one basic and twelve basic. You can improve their duration, effectiveness and area of effect.

    1. Create a hob

The brewing stand is needed to create all types of potions in Minecraft. To create it, follow these steps:

    1. Right click on the workbench;
    2. Fill the bottom row with cobblestones;
    3. Place one fire rod in the middle.

To craft a brewing stand, all you need is one fire rod and three cobblestones.

Cobblestones can be easily found when mining underground. Fire Rods can only be found in the Nether when killing Ifrit, a hostile mob attacking with fireballs.

This is Ifrit, his breathing can be heard from afar. Ifrits usually dwell in the fortresses of the Nether.

To enter the Nether, you need an appropriate portal.

To create it, you need to create a frame of obsidian blocks (4×5) and set it on fire with a steel.

Here is a good video on creating a portal to Hell, and in general it contains a lot of useful information about going to the Nether:

It is worth saying that for boiling you can use a cauldron, which is crafted from seven iron ingots. But due to the inconvenience of use, he gave way to the hob.

The cauldron did not take root in the game due to inconvenience. The developers promise to come up with a different application for it in the future.

Right-clicking a rack opens four slots:

The bottom three slots are for vials or potions, and the top one is for an ingredient.

This single ingredient is poured into the three vials at the bottom, allowing you to create three bottles of the potion from the same ingredient. To use the brewing stand, the vials must always be filled with water or a potion; if they are empty, nothing will happen. The water bottle is blue, as in the picture above, the empty bottle is transparent, as in the picture below:

To craft a bubble, you need three glass blocks. They will make three bubbles.

    3. Brew an awkward potion

Awkward is the base ingredient for most other Minecraft potions. It can be made on a brewing stand using a vial of water and infernal growth seeds.

These seeds are found in the Nether, where they grow in blocks of soul sand.

Infernal outgrowth is generated in the fortresses of the Nether in places specially designated for them (reminiscent of beds), as well as in chests.

If the player takes the block of soul sand and the seeds of the infernal growth through the Nether portal to the top, they can begin to grow the growth themselves to produce potions. The growth grows in any biome, as long as the soil is soul sand.

The awkward potion is prepared as follows:

    1. Right-click on the brewing stand;
    2. Place the Nether Growth Seeds in the top slot;
    3. Place the WATER VIAL on the bottom row.

By placing one Hell Growth Seed and three Water Vials, you will get three Awkward.

The brewing stand will take approximately 19 seconds to create a potion after placing the ingredient and vials in it.

Accordingly, one hellish growth seed is needed to create three basic potions. Awkward itself has no properties and is only used to make other potions.

    4. Combine base potion with ingredients

After creating a few bubbles of awkward, you can start creating basic potions that will have various effects, such as increasing strength, health, underwater vision, or even invisibility. They will require a variety of ingredients besides hell growth seeds, such as fire powder, lava cream, and ghast tears.

It will take a lot of travel to collect the right ingredients. The table below describes the main potions and their ingredients.

Main Base potion Ingredients Action Description
fire resistance awkward lava cream Fire 3 minutes does no harm
Harm poisoning/treatment Cooked spider eye Deals 3 damage
Treatments awkward shiny melon Heals 2 health
invisibility night vision Cooked spider eye Invisibility for 3 minutes
night vision awkward golden carrot Night vision for 3 minutes
poisoning awkward Spider Eye Deals damage over 45 seconds.
Regeneration awkward Ghast's tear Restores 9 health points over 45 seconds.
slowness Elan Cooked spider eye Slows down speed for 4 minutes
Forces awkward fire rod Increases damage dealt for 3 minutes
Elan awkward Sugar Increases speed for 3 minutes
Breathing underwater awkward puffer fish Gives breath underwater for 3 minutes
Weaknesses awkward Cooked spider eye Reduces damage taken for 1.5 minutes

As you can see, awkward is the base of most basic potions.

They can increase the damage dealt to enemies. Certain potions are suitable for certain situations, for example, fire resistance helps in fighting mobs like Ifrits in the Nether. In a multiplayer game, invisibility is a great way to sneak past enemies. The ability to create potions is a very useful skill in Minecraft.

    Combining potions with powders

Many potions can be enhanced by making them more effective and increasing their duration. The combination with powders allows, for example, to increase the duration of the regeneration or turn the slow potion into an exploding one, increasing the number of targets hit.

Powders are the mashed residues of solid materials. To enhance primary potions, you need red dust, light dust and gunpowder.

    Strengthening and Ingredients

Preparing basic potions with these three powders increases their effect.

Like many ingredients, Light Dust is found in the Nether. You'll have to find a Glowing Stone that looks like a block with yellow flecks.

Very often, these blocks are located on the ceiling of deep caves, which complicates their extraction. They turn into light dust already at the workbench.

Red dust is mined underground from red ore.

Red ore can be smelted, but laying it on the ground and using an iron pick will yield up to five redstone.

Gunpowder cannot be mined: it can be obtained by killing creepers (the chance of gunpowder falling out of them is 66%), witches (16% in total) and ghasts (also 66%), and also found in dungeon chests (the chance of gunpowder falling out is completely random, but this is the most safe way). It is best to hunt ghasts, as they still drop "ghast tears" used in potion brewing.

Ghast hunting is the most efficient way to get gunpowder, but also the most dangerous. And the sounds made by the gast cannot be expressed in words at all ...

    Potions Recipes

The recipes for making potions in different versions of Minecraft are slightly different. Above, we described the main points of their creation and what is needed for this. To list all existing recipes within the framework of this article is simply unrealistic. Moreover, with the release of new versions of the game, recipes may change and be supplemented with new ingredients. Therefore, here we will leave a link to a very good resource, which always contains up-to-date information on potions, information about all ingredients and reagents.

Potions help in difficult moments of the game in Minecraft, especially in boss battles and on multiplayer maps. The secret lava hideout can only be accessed with fire resistance, or you can install an atomizer that will throw a poison potion at anyone who steps on the pressure plate. As you can see, the thing is very useful, but it requires a trip to the Lower World.

And remember, you don't have to wait for the potion to wear off. Potion effects can be removed by drinking a bucket of milk.

Potions are an integral part of the game called Minecraft. Today I would like to describe in detail the potions, their properties and method of preparation. To begin with, I will tell you what ingredients are involved in the preparation of potions:

    • 1) Infernal warts. Perhaps the most important ingredient, almost no potion can be prepared without it, except for the potion of weakness. You can find them in the fortresses of hell where they actively grow on the sand of souls. In the normal world, they are also grown on soul sand.
    • 2) Spider eye. A publicly available ingredient, all you need to get it is a wish.
    • 3) A sparkling slice of watermelon. For an inexperienced player, it is quite difficult to mine. To make it, you need to put an ordinary slice of watermelon in the center of the workbench and fill all the other windows with gold nuggets.
    • 4) Fire powder. It is made from an ifrit rod (you just need to put it on a workbench), I hope there is no need to explain what is the problem of its production.
    • 5) Ghast tear. Killing a gast is problematic for some...
    • 6) Lava cream. There are two ways here, either to kill the infernal slug (it is somewhat stronger than usual), or to make it from ordinary slime and fire powder by putting them on a workbench.
    • 7) Sugar. Crafted from cane (you need to put one thing on a workbench).
    • 8) Golden carrot. The whole difficulty is in the extraction of carrots, but for players who have been playing Minecraft for some time, this should not be an obstacle.
    • 9) Pickled spider eye. Pure witchcraft ingredient. To create, you need one brown mushroom, one spider eye and one sugar (a very necessary and useful ingredient)
    • 10) Redstone. Useful and cheap stuff. May increase the duration of effects. Mined from redstone ore.
    • 11) Light Dust. Increases potion strength (not to be confused with duration)
    • 12) Gunpowder. Needed to throw potions at someone. It is obtained from creepers (but this is far from the only source)
Now let's start cooking. As the saying goes, "The theater begins with a hanger." Well, the jam potion begins with a brewing stand. Many beginners believe that a cauldron can be used to make potions. I hasten to disappoint them. In Minecraft, the only tool for crafting is a brewing stand (for crafting, you need an ifrit rod, which you need to put in the middle of the workbench and an ordinary cobblestone, they need to cover the lowest horizontal of the workbench). For the container in which we will pour the potion, we will use a bottle, made of three blocks of glass (it turns out three bottles at once), they need to be laid out in such a way that one lies in the middle of the lower horizontal, and the other two in the middle of the first and third verticals of the workbench. Now you can fill them with water.

So it's time to deal with the hob device. The topmost window in it is for the ingredient (which, by the way, I indicated above). Three lower windows for filled bottles. Now let's move on to making potions. By the way, here is their complete list and recipes:

    1) Negative Potions

It is better to make them explosive, of course, if you are not a suicide.
    • 1.1) Potion of Weakness I. It is interesting that this is the only potion that is prepared without the help of infernal warts. To create it, simply put a pickled spider eye in the cell for the ingredient. This potion will weaken your enemy's attacks, making them an easy target. The potion lasts 1 minute 30 seconds.
    • 1.2) Potion of Weakness II. Modification of the potion of weakness I. After preparing the first level of the potion, add a little redstone to the ingredient cell. The potion is amplified in time up to 4 minutes of action.
Next come the potions, which are made from an awkward or crude potion. This is a potion preparation that has no effects of its own. It can be made by putting an infernal wart in the ingredient cell (naturally, water bottles are in the lower cells).
    • 1.3) Potion Potion I. We put a spider eye in the cell of the ingredient. The potion poisons the player slowly taking away his health by half a heart. Valid for 45 seconds. (Attention! This potion cannot kill the player without outside help! It only weakens him to such a state in which he can be killed with his hand, that is, leaves him half a heart).
    • 1.4) Poison Potion II (by time). Add redstone to the potion, now it lasts 2 minutes.
    • 1.5) Potion of Poison II (by strength). Add light dust to the potion. The potion starts to deal more damage to the player, but lasts only 22 seconds (this does not prevent him from killing the player even more successfully than the redstone-enhanced potion).
    • 1.6) Potion of damage I. A very powerful potion. Instantly takes away several health hearts from the player. For cooking, you need to add pickled spider's eye to a potion of poisoning or a potion of healing.
    • 1.7) Damage Potion II. With two bottles, it calmly kills a player without armor. To prepare, add light dust to the potion of harm. You can also add pickled spider's eye to a potion of harm of the second degree, or to a potion of healing of the second degree.
    • 1.8) Slow potion I. We lay down in a potion of fire resistance or in a potion of speed a pickled eye. Lasts one minute 30 seconds.
    • 1.9) Potion of Slowdown II. Add redstone to the potion of the first degree. Either add a pickled spider eye to a potion of speed of the second degree, or to a potion of fire resistance of the second degree. Valid for 4 minutes.

    2) Positive potions

    • 2.1) Potion of Regeneration I. Back to poison potion. Prepared with a gast tear. Lasts 45 seconds.
    • 2.2) Potion of regeneration II (by strength). The potion restores health more intensively. For cooking, we put light dust in it. Lasts 22 seconds.
    • 2.3) Potion of regeneration II (by time). The potion restores health longer. Valid for 2 minutes.
    • 2.4) Potion of fire resistance I. Add lava cream to the awkward potion. The player becomes immune to fire and lava. Valid for 3 minutes.
    • 2.5) Potion of fire resistance II. Add redstone to the potion of the first degree. The potion is buffed over time. Valid for 8 minutes.
    • 2.6) Potion of Strength I. Serves to increase the damage dealt by the player. Valid for 3 minutes.
    • 2.7) Potion of Strength II (by time).
    • 2.8) Potion of strength II (by strength). Add light dust to the potion of the first degree. Greatly increases the strength of the player. Lasts 1 minute 30 seconds.
    • 2.9) Potion of Night Vision I. We can see at night as during the day. Valid for 3 minutes.
    • 2.10) Potion of night vision II. Add redstone to the potion of the first degree. Valid for 8 minutes.
    • 2.11) Healing potion I. Add a sparkling slice of watermelon to the blank. Instantly heals the player for a few hearts.
    • 2.12) Healing potion II. Add light dust to the potion of the first degree. Instantly heals the player for a large number of hearts.
    • 2.13) Potion of Speed I. Add sugar to the potion. Speeds up the player. Valid for 3 minutes.
    • 2.14) Potion of speed II (by time). Add redstone to the potion of the first degree. Valid for 8 minutes.
    • 2.15) Potion of speed II (by strength). Add light dust to the potion of the first degree. Very much speeds up the player. Lasts 1 minute 30 seconds.
    • 2.16) Potion of invisibility I. Add a pickled spider eye to the potion of night vision. Makes the player invisible (armor visible). Valid for 3 minutes.
    • 2.17) Potion of invisibility II. Add redstone to the potion of the first degree. You can also add a pickled spider eye to the potion of night vision of the second degree. Makes the player invisible (armor visible). Valid for 8 minutes.
Any potion can be made explosive, for this you just need to add gunpowder to it, this will slightly reduce the duration of the potion, but it can be thrown at other creatures (including players). Also for any potion there is one universal antidote, this is milk (it also affects positive effects.)

Well, that's basically it, I hope this will be useful information for someone.
