Decoupage with gelatin glue

1. Boil eggs hard.
2. Prepare gelatin glue. To do this, pour gelatin with water in the proportions indicated on the specific gelatin package and soak. Strain it through a strainer and remove excess liquid. Heat the gelatin and wait until the granules dissolve.
3. Choose napkins with beautiful colored designs. White eggs look better as a background, although it all depends on the color of the napkin.
4. Separate the top layer of the napkin and cut out the fragment you like.
5. Attach the picture to the shell. Apply gelatin glue over the design from the center to the edges.

Decoupage Easter eggs with glue on starch

boiled white eggs

starch

water

tassel

napkins with small patterns

food coloring (silver and gold)

Remove the two bottom layers of the napkins and make blanks for ornaments and designs. Make small flower scraps by hand.

Distribute the selected elements on the surface of the eggs. Do this with a brush and plain water. Try to smooth out every wrinkle.

Make a paste from starch. Take 50 ml of water for 2 teaspoons of corn or potato starch and heat in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Then stir, set again for 20 seconds, stir again, another 10 seconds in the microwave, stir again, cook again for 10 seconds and stir one last time. The paste is ready!

Now all that remains is to coat the napkin ornament applied with a brush with water with paste and leave everything to dry. Instead of starch, you can use pre-whipped egg white.

After the Easter eggs with ornaments have dried, that is, after 15 minutes, cover them with the last, decorative layer. To do this, add food coloring to a small amount of paste.

Dry decorated eggs on a wire rack. Beautiful, is not it?

Decoupage wooden eggs for gifts and souvenirs - from here

We will need: wooden blanks, paper napkins with a pattern (in specialized stores for creative hobbies there is sometimes a whole section with such napkins and other materials for decoupage), acrylic primer, colored acrylic paints, decoupage glue (or PVA), transparent acrylic varnish, scissors, brushes, pieces of kitchen sponge

1. Let's prepare our blanks for further decoration using acrylic primer.

2. After the primer has dried, apply acrylic paint of a suitable shade using a piece of ordinary kitchen sponge. You can apply the paint with a brush, but a sponge helps get a more even coating. If you need to speed up the drying of the paint, you can use a hairdryer.

3. Choose a floral motif from paper napkins, preferably with motifs on a white background. We cut out with small (nail) scissors or carefully tear off the motifs, partially leaving a white background. Separate the top layer with the pattern from the rest.

4. To paste an image, you can choose one of the following methods:
- first apply glue to the base, attach the picture and smooth it out;
- attach the picture to the base and apply glue on top.

Glue for decoupage can be replaced with PVA glue, diluted to the consistency of liquid sour cream. To glue motifs, it is better to use a thin brush with natural or synthetic soft bristles. After gluing each element, let the glue dry. After all the parts of the flower arrangement are glued into place, we need to secure our work.

5. Cover the eggs with clear acrylic varnish using a medium-sized soft brush...

And wait for it to dry completely.

All that remains is to assemble the composition: fill the basket with sisal, place the decoupled eggs inside, and decorate with flowers and ladybugs.

The history of celebrating Easter goes back hundreds of years. But colored chicken eggs have always been an indispensable attribute. Traditionally, they are colored with onion skins or food coloring. Or you can create decorative Easter crafts with your own hands, for example, eggs braided with beads or lace. Today “Cross” will talk about how to make beautiful Easter eggs using the Decoupage technique.

YOU WILL NEED IT

If the Decoupage technique is not yet familiar to you, then first read the article, which contains a lot of useful information on decoupage for beginners.

So, to decorate an Easter egg with your own hands, we will need:

    • boiled chicken eggs (preferably white);

To prevent eggs from cracking during cooking, try the following. First of all, the eggs must be warmed to room temperature. It is better to cook over low heat with the addition of 1 tablespoon of salt.

  • napkin for decoupage with small (preferably floral) scenes;
  • brush;
  • beaten egg white;
  • water.

In this case, the whipped egg white acts as an analogue of glue for decoupage. The protein is absolutely harmless and such an egg can be eaten. Another natural analogue of glue can be paste made from potato starch. To do this you need to take 2 tsp. starch and about 50 ml of water. Stir and heat for a couple of minutes, stirring all the time.

Separate the top layer with the pattern from the napkin. For decoupage you will need exactly this. Cut it out
(or better yet, tear out) floral motifs.

We begin to distribute the flowers over the surface of the egg. Smooth them with a brush moistened with water.

After all the motifs are distributed, apply beaten egg white on top. Leave to dry.

Our Easter eggs decorated using decoupage technique are ready.

Original master class

Be careful if you are going to bless such eggs! If water gets in, the protein may become sticky and the appearance will deteriorate. To prevent this from happening, you can dip the eggs in melted paraffin - it will act as a varnish.

Of course, you can decoupage not only boiled eggs, but also wooden blanks (in this case, the blank will need to be painted with white acrylic paint), as well as empty egg shells.

To get an empty shell, take a raw egg and, using an awl, carefully make two holes in it: about 5 mm in diameter at the bottom, 1–2 mm at the top. The contents of the egg will easily spill out. After this, the shells must be thoroughly washed and dried.

This shell turns out to be quite fragile. Do you want to give it some firmness? Olga Khotskaya shares her secret: eggs can be filled from the inside with polyurethane foam, so they turn out to be light but very durable.

Fill the egg shell with foam through the hole. Leave until completely dry.

Cut off excess foam with a knife. Do not forget: it is better to carry out such work with gloves!

In addition to the egg blanks described above, recall that the blank can be made from plaster.

In the video master class you will see how to perform decoupage on a foam piece:

Most likely, in childhood, everyone loved to make appliqués, that is, they cut out various shapes and pasted them on paper. Thus, creating some interesting or original figure. And if so, then you will probably like this article.

After all, today, using a similar technique, we will decorate eggs with you for one of the most important Christian holidays -. And it must be said that because of its simplicity, this design method is very popular. This is due to the fact that essentially you don’t need to buy anything to do this. Everyone probably has napkins and eggs in their kitchen. And nothing more is needed.

After all, the decoupage technique is nothing more than the usual decoration of the desired object with a cut piece of paper, or in our case, a napkin. And so that it all holds well, we will use ordinary egg white as glue. It's that simple.

Although we will touch lightly on another topic, where decoration will be done not for food, but for admiring. And foam and wooden blanks will be used as a design item. But in any of the options, all this will be done using the same technique.

When I first saw eggs decorated in a detailed way, I thought I would never make one like this. Everything seemed painfully difficult. But then, when I read how it was done, I was surprised at how simple it turned out to be.

And not only simple, but also quite exciting. Let's look together at the simplest way to decorate using the decoupage technique. By the way, translated from French “decouper” means “cut”.

We will need:

  • boiled eggs
  • three-layer napkins (with small patterns)
  • one egg white
  • brush
  • nail scissors (optional)
  • vegetable oil
  • cotton pad

Manufacturing:

1. We should already have boiled eggs in advance. And it’s better that they are already cooled and dry.

2. We also need napkins, preferably three-layer ones. These napkins have very thin layers, and this is good, it means that when gluing the pattern, the seams will not be visible at all.

You can use regular napkins, but they are rougher and thicker. And in the case of them, it is necessary to choose a smaller pattern. Since the egg is oval in shape, a large, thick design will lie on its surface with folds. Then, a thin layer from a three-layer napkin will be distributed much better.

I use just these napkins, and first I separate the very top layer. She didn’t say yet that we need them with a small pattern. Well, not only small ones, of course, but very large flowers and landscapes are not suitable in this case. I have two napkins: one has a lot of small flowers and leaves, the second has both large and small decorative elements. We will use both.

3. Our task is to prepare the elements. I saw it in the description where they suggest cutting them out with small nail scissors. But I prefer to tear off the details. When you do exactly this, then when decoupaging on the white egg you can’t see the joints. And it turns out that the drawing seems to be drawn on the shell.

In this case, it is not clear how this is even possible. Was the egg painted, or was it some kind of photo print, or something else?!

And just tearing off the parts is the longest procedure. Especially if you decide to decorate with small elements. They need to be torn off in such a way that a white edge remains, approximately 0.2 - 0.3 cm. This will make the transition from the pattern to the shell invisible.

I advise you to immediately lay out the parts in accordance with how you will apply them. That is, approximately imagining how this or that Easter egg will be decorated.

4. We will also need protein. To do this, simply separate it from the yolk and that’s it. There is no need to beat or stir it. In this case, it will begin to bubble, and the bubbles will be visible on the surface of the workpiece, and this is exactly what we do not need.

Protein is an excellent natural adhesive. Since we will use eggs decorated using the decoupage method for food, no other glue or varnish of chemical origin should be used in this case.

But if you are suddenly categorically against protein, then there is another way. You can dilute the starch thickly and glue it on. Or you can also use gelatin with sugar. To do this, gelatin is poured with sweet water and kept for a certain time. Then filter through cheesecloth and heat to a liquid state.

5. And now that everything is ready, the fun begins. We will create paintings. You can make them the same, or you can create a different pattern each time. When you place them in your Easter basket, they will look absolutely gorgeous! And in any of the options you choose.

6. And so, how will we create paintings and pictures on the shell. Very simple. We apply the selected part to one of the sides and apply egg white to its surface with a brush. At the same time, we capture the edge and the space behind the edge. This is one way. There is also a second one:

  • Coat the desired area with protein, then place the selected part on it, and again apply a protein layer on top.

Personally, I think this method is not necessary. One layer is enough. The napkin is so thin that the protein will soak through it. In addition, when there is too much protein, the surface of the egg becomes slippery and difficult to work with. Especially when there are a lot of details.

By the way, you don't have to use a brush at all. You can apply the protein with your finger. So, if there is no brush, then there is a very real way out.

7. Decorate all prepared eggs in this way. Then give them the opportunity to dry a little.

8. Then pour a little oil into a bowl, moisten a cotton pad and lubricate the shell with the applied pattern.

Do not use a lot of oil, just a little is enough. Then let the surface dry again and place it on a dish or in a basket.

Wait for the holiday and eat with pleasure. Treat your loved ones and friends, delighting them with your wonderful work.

Video on how to decorate eggs for Easter using decoupage technique

I think that the recipe given above is understandable to everyone. But if suddenly some moments are described not entirely clearly, then in this case I would like to offer you a video.

It shows how I distributed the parts. Somewhere these were large details with an abundance of smaller ones, but on the same topic. In some places I tried to arrange the same details in the same color scheme, and in others I combined everything together. And it turned out that it was as if I had used not two napkins, but much more.

And you can admire the result right now. And although it’s still two weeks before Easter, I managed to surprise my friends again. A friend came to see my husband and was very surprised by what he saw. I spent a long time sorting through and examining the works, and could not understand how this could happen.

At first, he thought I drew it. And when I told him what the secret was, he was surprised for the second time and said that this year he and his wife would still decorate eggs for Easter. Because it's fast and simple and very effective.

By the way, friends, if you liked the video, then subscribe to the channel. I will be very glad to see you.

DIY Easter egg made of polystyrene foam using decoupage technique

The Christian tradition has long preserved the tradition of giving each other eggs for Easter. And to make gifts pleasing to the eye for a long time, they learned how to beautifully design and decorate them. Such a souvenir can be stored for a long time, and can be admired not only on holidays, but also on weekdays.

This craft is also a kind of home talisman. Therefore, sometimes some people have a whole collection of them.

A whole article has already been written. And today we’ll look at how this can be done specifically using the decoupage technique. And first, let's take a blank of their foam.

We will need:

  • foam blank
  • PVA glue
  • acrylic paint
  • acrylic varnish
  • brush
  • three-layer napkins
  • scissors (maybe they come in handy)

Manufacturing:

If we could stick only part of a design on a boiled egg, then this will not work with our blank. Its surface is porous, and if you leave empty, untreated areas, the overall picture will look unfinished. That's why we prepared acrylic paint.

There are two options for using it:

  • The surface of the workpiece is completely primed with paint. And then the desired pattern is subsequently applied using separate fragments of the napkin. This method is used when the elements of the picture are small, or only one large fragment.
  • First, the fragments are glued, and then the free spaces are painted over. This method can be used when napkins are glued along the entire central perimeter of the egg. In this case, paint is applied only to the polar areas.

I prefer the first method. In this case, the surface is smoother and more even. Especially if white is used. Any fragment fits perfectly on it. And even if later you need to add another color that matches the pattern, it will fit perfectly on white.

And this is how to do everything.

1. Prime the surface of the egg with white acrylic paint. Give it a chance to dry. You can simply paint it with a brush, or you can do it with a dishwashing sponge. In this case, the coating will turn out to be slightly foamed.

2. Meanwhile, tear off the desired fragment from the napkin. Let me remind you that it is better to take three-layer ones, and we will only need the third layer with the pattern applied to it. It is very thin and due to the fact that we do not cut out the fragment, but tear it off along the contour, the seam will not be visible at all.

As I already said in the first description, it is necessary to tear off the part, leaving 0.3 - 0.4 cm of a white contour strip.

3. When the paint dries, place the torn fragment in the desired place and coat it directly on top with PVA glue. To do this, you can use a brush, but some people like to apply it directly with their finger. Which is quite consistent with the well-known combination “hand made”.

Then wait again for the glue to dry.

4. Apply varnish on top.

In the second use case, the scheme is slightly different.

1. First, glue the torn fragment using PVA glue. Then apply paint of a contrasting color to the free spaces. If necessary, paint additional elements with this or another paint.

2. And after drying, apply varnish. Spray varnish is especially suitable for these purposes.

To decorate the workpiece and draw on it, you can insert a skewer into the lower part and hold the workpiece on it to draw and paint.

You can decorate with two types of different napkins at once. Use one as a background and the other as a picture. In this case, it is not necessary to apply a primer. Especially if the first layer is quite colorful.

Or you can prime in two layers using the same sponge. First use white, then pink. Then move on to decoupage with napkins. And if desired, also to voluminous jewelry.

And of course, in such creativity there are simply no limits to imagination. When you have general knowledge of how to do this, you can create real masterpieces.

Master class on decorating techniques with napkins for a wooden Easter egg

By and large, there are no special differences from working with foam blanks. But let's briefly dwell on this topic.

As a rule, the wooden workpiece should also be treated with an acrylic primer. It itself has a textured surface with appropriate coloring. And if light elements are used for decoration, then it will shine through a thin napkin.

In addition, the surface of the wooden workpiece is very smooth, and parts will slide off it. And when primed, the surface will become more convenient to work with.

You can prime with a regular brush, or you can use a dishwashing sponge. If you apply a primer with its help, the surface will turn out to be embossed.

However, the surface is not always polished. In this case, you will need to do it yourself. You can use “zero” sandpaper for this.

Separate the desired fragment from the napkin. If it is very large, then it is better to divide it into several parts. Then glue them one by one. If you leave the part large, then it may not lie quite neatly on the convex surface of the workpiece, and folds, creases and irregularities may appear on it, which will affect the appearance.

You can glue the fragments using PVA glue or special glue for blending. It can be applied with a brush or finger to a fragment placed in the right place. After applying the glue, it must be allowed to dry completely.

And then apply acrylic varnish to the drawing.

If necessary, touch up the necessary areas with paint.

You can also decorate the embossed paths in a contrasting color.

This is the easiest way to decorate a wooden piece with napkins, but there are also more complex ones. For example, using the same technique you can decorate with volumetric elements. They can be made from the same napkins glued to thermal film, or you can use ready-made beads, rhinestones, etc.

As a rule, a wooden egg is placed on a stand. It is also decorated using paints and varnish. And as a rule it sticks to it.

Today I told you about the simplest design methods. But there are craftswomen who create real masterpieces. Additionally, decorate the form with paints.

Create magnificent images using the aging effect.

Or they draw real pictures.

Several different techniques are used simultaneously.

All this is quite possible. But this is already the highest skill that can be achieved with desire and diligence. But it would seem... The main material is just ordinary napkins.

But you must admit, even thanks to the very simple techniques discussed today, the products turn out simply magnificent. And I want to make these with my own hands.

And in conclusion of today’s article, I want to congratulate you on the upcoming Easter, and also wish you all the best! And create masterpieces that are pleasant to give and receive as a gift.

With the help of paper napkins with a pattern, even your littlest helpers can make this decoration. Moreover, it is very interesting and entertaining for the whole family. Your baby will be proud that he was able to help you. You can also involve older family members in this activity, and have a pleasant time doing such a common activity. You will get the most beautiful Easter eggs, don’t even doubt it.

Decorating Easter eggs using decoupage technique

master class with step-by-step photos

Such a beautiful egg can be a wonderful gift. After all, there is such a tradition on Easter to give family, friends and neighbors an Easter egg as a symbol of the birth of a new life.

Ingredients:

  • Chicken eggs,
  • Thick 3-layer napkins with a pattern,
  • Sequins,
  • Raw egg white.

Cooking process:

Pre-cook the eggs until they are ready, let them dry and cool.

As a rule, beautiful paper napkins with interesting patterns are multi-layered. To decorate the egg, we only need the top part with the pattern. From such a napkin we separate the top layer with the pattern. The napkins must be thick so that they do not tear while working with them. We cut out the design we need, in our case these are flowers from the corner of the napkin. The design should be cut out in a semicircle, so it is more convenient to stick it on the surface of the egg.

Place it on the egg and make sure the pattern is in the center.

Break a raw egg and carefully separate the white from the yolk. We only need protein in our work; we cover the egg with it like glue. Then, using a brush, we completely cover our decoupage design with protein in order to secure it to the egg. After the protein dries, it will perfectly hold the design - decoration on Easter eggs.

Now we cut out other decoupage elements from the napkin, in our case these are butterflies, and also secure them with egg whites on the surface of the egg.

On the other side we glue a large butterfly.

In order to make our Easter egg even more festive, we sprinkle it with glitter. You need to sprinkle it while the egg is wet so that the glitter doesn’t fall off.

We got such a beautiful Easter egg! We hope this simple step-by-step master class is useful to you.

Best regards, Anyuta!
