Until recently, I thought that semolina porridge was a dish that could not be prepared in a slow cooker, because the first time it turned out to be a pancake. It turns out that there is one secret when preparing semolina porridge: you need to cook it in a slow cooker not with milk alone, but mixed with water. Notebook reader Olga sent us a recipe for semolina porridge in a Panasonic multicooker, which finally dispelled the myth about semolina porridge in a miracle saucepan:

"I am sending you a recipe for semolina porridge in a multicooker. I cooked it on a delayed start. It turned out very tasty! The quantity of ingredients is indicated for 2 servings. The dish was prepared in a Panasonic multicooker with a capacity of 4.5 liters. All preparations took me no more than 5 minutes."

For the recipe for semolina porridge in a slow cooker you will need:

  • Semolina – up to 80 ml (1/2 multi cup),
  • milk - 3 multi-cups,
  • water - 1.5 multi-glasses,
  • butter - 1 tsp,
  • sugar - 1.5 tbsp. l.,
  • salt - 1/3 tsp.

How to cook semolina porridge in a slow cooker:

Pour the cereal, sugar, and salt into a multicooker pan. Add milk, water and butter. Mix everything carefully (I do this with a silicone spatula so as not to accidentally scratch the surface of the pan).


Turn on the multicooker in the “milk porridge” mode.
After the signal, turn off the multicooker, mix everything and let the semolina porridge stand for 5 minutes.

Then put the porridge into plates, bon appetit!

Very tender semolina porridge can be prepared in a slow cooker. I cook milk porridges in the “Porridge” mode, which has a default cooking temperature of 90 °C. Therefore, I only use pasteurized milk and boiled water. If there is a need to boil milk, then to prevent it from foaming and spilling into the steam valve, you can run a rim of butter along the entire bowl above the milk by about 5 cm.

Prepare the necessary products.

Pour water and milk into the multicooker bowl. Make an oil rim if necessary.

Set the multicooker to “Porridge” or “Milk porridge” mode and press “Start”. The default cooking time is 1 hour. This is quite a lot for semolina porridge. If the multicooker has the ability to regulate the time, then you can reduce it to 30-40 minutes.

Mix semolina with sugar.

After about 10 minutes of operation of the multicooker, the milk will warm up enough and then you can pour semolina and sugar into the multicooker bowl. Stir everything. Close the lid and cook for about 20-30 minutes.

Add a piece of butter to the prepared porridge and stir.

Delicious, tender milk semolina porridge is ready. You can add berries and fruits to it or serve with honey and jam.

Step 1

Semolina takes up a lot of liquid. Therefore, if you like thin porridge, then it is better to take cereal and liquid in the following proportions: 1 part semolina, 7 or even 8 parts milk or water.

Our recipe uses both milk and water (in this version, the porridge can be safely offered to small children over one year old), but if you want the semolina porridge in the multicooker to be richer, then you can cook it only with milk, fortunately, the multicooker will not allow it to escape from the bowl .

By the way, it is best to cook with regular or high-fat milk, but in no case low-fat milk - this will only spoil the taste of the dish. So, put the semolina in a magic pot, as shown in the photo below.

On a note: one insignificant disadvantage of semolina is that it cannot be placed in a multicooker overnight and cooked with the “Delayed Start” or “Timer” program: it will swell too much, and the “Heating” mode, which very often turns on automatically, will continue to cook porridge, which is why you risk seeing a conglomerate of semolina in the multicooker bowl in the morning.

Interesting fact: What is semolina? Many people ask themselves this question. It's just ground wheat grains. When grinding wheat, large pieces of it are sifted out - this is semolina. That is why it is made in flour mills, although semolina is considered a cereal.

Step 2

Then add sugar to taste - our recipe advises adding 1 level tablespoon and a pinch of salt. Salt and sugar placed in such proportions will create a pleasant sweet-salty taste.

However, if you want to cook sweet porridge, then you should increase the amount of sugar and give up salt. Next, add a piece of softened butter (see photo).

On a note: To finally protect yourself from milk attempts to escape, before letting the multicooker cook semolina, grease the edges of the multicooker bowl with butter.

Step 3

Pour in the required amount of water and milk, carefully stir all the ingredients with a special spoon so as not to damage the ceramic coating.

We close the lid of the multicooker and cook the porridge in the “Milk porridge” mode for the standard amount of time allotted by the program.

This will take approximately half an hour, but the recipe will not give you a more accurate time - rely on your multicooker model. In the absence of the “Milk porridge” mode, you can cook on the “Rice” or “Pilaf” mode for 30 minutes.

About 15 minutes before the end of cooking, open the multicooker and carefully stir its contents (see photo).

Do not leave the semolina on the “Warming” mode, but it is better to serve it immediately - if, while stirring the porridge, you realize that it has now reached the optimal thickness for you, it’s time to “remove from the heat” (to prepare thin semolina, 15-20 minutes of cooking on the above-mentioned modes).

That's the whole recipe. If desired, the finished dish can be supplemented with sugar syrup or jam, or maybe a small piece of butter.

Fresh fruits and berries are ideal for semolina porridge. Not only because it is beautiful and tasty, but also due to the fact that semolina contains phytin, which prevents calcium from being absorbed normally. But this substance is easily neutralized by adding fruits and berries to the dish.

  • Sugar - 1 or 1.5 tablespoon

1. First, I poured the semolina into the multicooker container. Added sugar and thoroughly mixed the dry ingredients with a spatula.

4. I have a Polaris 0517 multicooker, which has a “Multicook” mode. It was in it that I prepared the porridge. Set the temperature: 90 degrees, time: 20 minutes.

If there is no such program, then select the “Milk porridge” function in the multicooker (if this is not available, the “rice” function will do) and wait 10 minutes until the porridge is cooked. You can also add a little butter at the end.

5. This was the first time I cooked semolina porridge in a slow cooker using this recipe, and I was very worried that lumps would not form. Therefore, without waiting for the end of the program (about 5 minutes after the time countdown), I opened the lid and, just in case, stirred it with a whisk.

6. After finishing the program and stirring with a spatula, the semolina porridge in the multicooker looks like this. There is not a single lump in it.
