An original envelope for a letter with your own hands. Original paper envelopes that you can make with your own hands. How to make an envelope from A4 sheet: the easiest ways

Designer interpretations have extended to literally every little detail. Standard classic items become fashionable ideas and objects for the realization of fantasies. One example is an envelope.

What could be special about it? A sheet of paper folded in a certain order. And how can it be applied, except for a postal letter? There are options! These are decorative “reservoirs” in which gifts are given, memorabilia are stored, and money is transferred, in the end.

It is of great importance in what form a person receives a present for his birthday or New Year. Even if the envelope contains an inexpensive trinket or a symbolic amount, the hand-made design itself will give a lot of pleasant impressions.

How to make a simple envelope from a sheet of paper

Classic example. It can be done both on regular white paper and on colored paper. It does not stand out in any way and is most often used to create a kind of “money bag”. If you have to pay for the session, then it is better to do it with minimal costs.

What you need:

  • paper. Smooth, clean sheet;
  • glue. PVA or pencil - whatever you have;
  • scissors, ruler, pencil and eraser.

If you have perfect vision and are able to measure distance without additional means, you can abandon the ruler.

But remember, if you don’t keep the proportions and fold it “by eye”, it will turn out crooked, askew and ugly.

Sequencing:

  1. Cut a sheet of paper to a square shape.
  2. On the side that will be the inside of the envelope, determine the center. To do this, using a ruler, draw thin, barely noticeable diagonals. The place where they intersect is the center.
  3. Bend two opposite corners of the square, bringing the ends together in the center. Push the fold line well, fixing the position.
  4. Fold the third corner. The base of the bottom triangle will be the bottom of the envelope. To avoid gaps, the fold line should be slightly higher than the lower corners of the side triangles. This way the top corner of the bottom triangle will be slightly above the center. Push through the fold lines.
  5. Open the “envelope” and erase the diagonals with an eraser.
  6. Assemble the envelope by folding the protruding edge of the bottom triangle inward - it should be flush with the center. Glue along the perimeter of the lower triangle. Advice - it is better to use a glue stick. It will not cause the paper to swell or change shape.
  7. Fold the “lid” - the corner should reach the bottom of the envelope. Press the fold line well. Ready!

How to make a paper letter envelope with your own hands

If you are planning to send a letter by mail, keep in mind that postal envelopes have certain dimensions and weight, therefore, failure to comply with the standard will lead to the fact that the letter may not reach the addressee. It is better to clarify the details by mail.

The letter envelope has a strict appearance - white and rectangular in shape.

The tools are the same: paper, scissors, glue, ruler, pencil and eraser.

Sequencing:

  1. Take a sheet of A4 paper. Measure one centimeter from the wide sides and bend. There was a kind of fold along the sheet.
  2. Measure along the fold line 10 cm from one edge and bend. There was a pocket that was not glued together and a very long tongue.
  3. Measure 2 cm from the base of the tongue and cut off the excess length. Round the edges.
  4. Open the “envelope”. Glue the fold of the longer part to the main sheet.
  5. Apply glue to the outer side of the hem of the short part and glue it to the long part. The envelope is ready.

How to make a large envelope from A4 paper

The simplest and fastest method. For it you will need an A4 sheet of paper, glue, scissors and a ruler. The paper can be white or colored.

  1. Measure 7.2 cm along the wide side on the bottom right and top left. Draw lines to the corners up and down, respectively.
  2. Cut off the resulting triangles. We leave the rhombus, throw away the triangles.
  3. We bend the left and right corners of the diamond inward, leaving a distance of about 7 mm between them.
  4. Fold the bottom corner so that there are no gaps. Apply glue to the bottom sides of the side triangles and glue to the bottom. Ready.

How to make a money envelope out of paper without glue

The simplest method, which does not require any additional items other than paper, is an envelope with a square. The finished result will be small in size and with an unusual clasp. The A4 format is considered as an example, but other dimensions can be used. You can use both colored and white paper.

  1. Attach the short side of the sheet to the long one. A triangle is formed. We push the fold line. Cut off the excess part of the sheet - a rectangular single-layer area.
  2. We turn the triangle with the base towards us. Bend the top corner. The tip should touch the base. We push the fold line.
  3. We bend the right side inward.
  4. We bend the left side inward.
  5. We bend the edge of the left side in the opposite direction. The fold line runs in the middle of the base.
  6. We open the resulting “tail” into a pocket.
  7. Fold the pocket into a square.
  8. Ready. All that remains is to bend the upper part and tuck the tip into the square pocket.

A more elaborate and labor-intensive option is to use tape.

Such envelopes, as a rule, are not limited to just colored paper. They are additionally decorated with twisted patterns, beads, and glitter. It is customary to use patterned stencils to cut out the shape. Instead of standard paper, thicker paper is used. For example, thin cardboard.

The scheme is simple:

  • a stencil is cut out;
  • in the places indicated by black stripes, make slits for the tape;
  • the envelope is pressed along the main lines (the perimeter of the inner square) and assembled - the upper and lower parts are internal, and the side parts are external. You can put money;
  • The tape is placed under the product and threaded through the slots. It is tied on the front side. Ready!

How to make a beautiful paper envelope

Antique

You will need: a sheet of paper, a wax candle, a wide brush, coffee or tea, a signet.

Sequencing:

  1. Fold a simple envelope out of paper. Do not glue.
  2. Unfold it and use a brush to paint it with strong black tea or coffee. Let dry.
  3. Fold and seal the envelope, leaving the “lid” free. Place a gift/letter.
  4. Fold the lid, press the fold line well and press the tip to the envelope. Drip wax and squeeze out the seal. Ready!

You can use any available tool for printing. For example, cosmetic caps or carved wine corks. Wax candles can be easily replaced with paraffin or gun glue, which comes in various colors.

Inside out

To create it you will need:

  • ready-made envelope stencil;
  • plain, double-sided colored paper to match the envelope itself;
  • colored paper for the back. The reverse side will require significantly less paper. In addition, it should stand out clearly against the background of the main one.

Sequencing:

  1. Cut out the envelope using the stencil.
  2. Fold it, pushing through the fold lines, but do not glue it.
  3. Cut the inside out according to the shape of the envelope.
  4. Glue it into the inside of the envelope. Assemble it and glue it together.

Envelope-box

Materials:

  • thick paper (scrap, cardboard);
  • scissors or stationery knife;
  • glue;
  • round shape (CD/DVD discs are most convenient);
  • decor (ribbon).

Sequencing:

  1. Cut out 4 circles using the discs to trace the outline. Fold each circle in half.
  2. Apply glue to ¼ of each circle in the same place.
  3. Glue the circles together using the principle of closing a cardboard box. Let it dry.
  4. Place the gift, close the envelope like a cardboard box and decorate it with decor - tie it with a ribbon.

Simpler, but no less cute envelopes are decorated with decorative animals or flowers. You don’t have to strive to achieve ideal shapes - clumsy penguins cut out of ordinary colored paper look much more charming than the highest quilling technique.

A standard white envelope is decorated with ribbons, lace, designs of various shapes through stencils and turns into a unique package.

A DIY paper envelope is beautiful, simple, unique and touching. Moreover, this gift wrapping option is kid-friendly. The baby will be proud to have made it himself, and mom will be able to be touched and show off to her friends for many months.

Paper crafts have become very popular these days and are amazing in their variety - from flowers and children's toys to furniture wicker from newspapers. But few people know how to make an envelope out of paper. They simply do not give this product due importance, hoping for an assortment of printed products. And it’s completely in vain - store-bought envelopes are mostly boring and faceless, have a monotonous design and are completely unsuitable for ceremonial correspondence - invitations to a wedding or corporate event, greeting cards or Valentine’s cards.

DIY paper envelopes step by step

Self-made paper envelopes vary:

    by purpose - simple or gift;

    in shape and size - paper products of a typical format for an ordinary letter or an intricately shaped envelope for sending a non-standard message;

    in terms of design - intricately decorated envelopes to attract the attention of the addressee;

    according to the presence of a window and the type of adhesive layer for sealing.

What to cook

You need to prepare the following:

    A4 size photocopier paper;

    wrapping, colored or kraft paper;

    sheets of cardboard, scraps of wallpaper and felt;

    beautiful decor (ribbons, straws, lace, beads and beads, buttons);

    colored and simple pencils, felt-tip pens, multi-colored crayons and paints;

    ruler, compass, glue and scissors.

Attention! It is necessary to prepare in advance a comfortable place to work, sufficiently lit and spacious so that all materials and tools are at hand.

It is best to start by moving from simple to complex techniques.

Rectangular letter envelope

If you urgently need to send rectangular correspondence, for example, a document that is not advisable to be folded several times, or a large postcard, but there is no suitable envelope at hand, then you should not be upset. You can quickly do it yourself using a simple scheme:

    Fold a standard sheet of paper down the center of the long sides.

    Next, bend the sides to the desired distance, focusing on the size of the letter.

    Unfold the sheet and trim the top half of the sides to the mark.

    Then fold the envelope and glue the sides.

    Fold the corners of the top strip over and trim carefully. It turns out to be a label for closing the envelope.

    The edges of the label can be made openwork, or a colored or branded strip with the company logo can be pasted on.

Envelope for regular letter

Such an envelope can be easily folded from standard A4 paper. For this:

    Place a sheet of paper horizontally.

    Measure 72 mm from the right side at the top and from the left at the bottom.

    Draw lines to the corners.

    Cut off the resulting triangles.

    Turn the resulting figure towards you so that it forms a diamond shape.

    Glue the finished product, leaving only the label to close the envelope.

Simple square envelope

The square envelope looks good from colored paper and is very easy to make.

    Fold a square-shaped paper sheet first horizontally and then vertically.

    Bend two opposite corners towards the middle.

    Next, bend the free lower corner forward to the junction of the first corners.

    Fix the bent corners with glue and let dry

The square envelope looks good from colored paper and is very easy to make

Square envelope with rounded edges

    Bend a sheet of paper on all sides to form a square in the center.

    Using a compass, form all the side parts and trim along the edges - you get rounded labels.

    Fold these tabs towards the middle.

    The result was an unusual and beautiful envelope.

    Place correspondence in it and tie it with decorative cord, twine or satin ribbon.

Such an envelope can be made from colored cardboard by rounding the labels into shapes. Standard sizes are inner square 140x140 mm and labels 140x70 mm. The fastening ribbon is pulled through the cut out side holes. You can make many envelopes using templates, changing the design.

Origami envelope

Using the origami technique, a paper envelope captivates with its originality, although the method itself is simple and quite suitable for beginners:

    Make a square from an ordinary piece of paper.

    Turn it towards you like a diamond and bend it in half to form a triangle.

    Along the front side, bend the upper part of the triangle towards its base.

    Then bend the corners - right and left.

    Bend the top corner from the middle of the envelope and open it - a pocket should form.

    Insert the folded top of the origami into the created pocket.

Envelope with a heart

Another simple technology by which you can easily make an envelope out of paper with your own hands. It is not necessary to glue the envelope with a heart. You can only iron the curves well so that it holds its shape and does not open on its own. The recipient, upon opening the envelope, will see a heart, which is especially important for sending congratulations on Valentine's Day or wedding invitations.

    Draw a heart on paper.

    Fold the sheet over the center of the heart and cut along the outline of one half - the heart should be symmetrical.

    Place it with the wrong side facing you and facing the table.

    After this, bend the sides of the workpiece approximately in the center of the hemispheres of the heart.

    Next, fold the top and bottom of the product towards the middle.

    Insert the message and iron the envelope.

Sometimes you need to send a large number of identical correspondence. In this case, to speed up the process of making envelopes with your own hands, do it simply - make a template from paper with all the intended bend lines and print it on a photocopier. After that, cutting and assembling the workpiece takes a few minutes.

Beautiful gift envelopes

Gift envelopes can be made with your own hands in different ways. It’s worth showing your imagination, and an excellent craft will delight the recipient.

Gift envelopes can be made with your own hands in different ways.

Envelope message

    On A4 format, write a letter or message and fold the sheet in half crosswise.

    Fix the fold line and unfold the sheet.

    As a result, two rectangles are formed, located at the top left and bottom right, and 2 triangles.

    Fold the sides of the created rectangles so that the edge of the sheet coincides with the edge of the triangles.

    Then turn the workpiece 90º counterclockwise and bend the upper right corner. In this case, the top edge of the future envelope and the bottom should match.

    Bend over the bottom fold you made earlier and tuck the top right corner under it.

    Repeat all steps on the left side.

    The message envelope is ready to be sent to the addressee.

From gift paper

    Cut out a classic-sized rectangle (most often A4) from the selected paper and fold it in half crosswise.

    Fold down the top of the sheet so that the top edge of the sheet meets the bottom edge, and mark the fold line (crease).

    Fold the lapel in half again, make a fold mark and fold it back.

    After this, bend the lower end of the workpiece to the resulting mark, and then again to the first fold.

    Lower the top edge of the sheet to the last fold, bend the bottom corners.

    Next, bend the right and left sides of the workpiece to the width of the resulting triangles and make dotted marks.

    Unfold all folds. The blank should resemble a rectangular envelope.

    Along the marked lines, bend the sides so that 2 triangles are formed at the bottom of the workpiece.

    Fold the top end of the lapel along the existing line.

    Then you need to straighten the triangles and tuck the lower corners inward.

    Mark the folds of the upper corners with dotted lines.

    Now pull the product by the upper edges of the lapels and tuck the upper corners inward.

    Straighten all the folds of the product, then close the envelope by folding the top and tuck it into the corner.

When money is a gift

Recently, for weddings, christenings, and birthdays, people usually give money, which can be presented in an exclusive envelope.

    Select two sheets of colored paper and two satin ribbons of different widths in the same colors. You can use beautiful wallpaper instead of paper.

    Select the size of the craft (standard 20x40 cm) and cut out a rectangle.

    Fold the side (long) sides of the plain sheet inward to the middle.

    Then fold the short sides in the same way - inward in the center.

    Unfold the short sides and make the corners into triangles.

    Then cut out a 20x23 cm rectangle from a sheet of colored paper and glue it to the center of the main sheet.

    Glue the previously made triangles to the base of the craft so that they touch in the center.

    Glue a 1 cm wide satin ribbon around the envelope, leaving the ends for the bow on the working side.

    On top of the first ribbon, glue the second narrower ribbon in the same way.

    Treat the edges of the ribbons with fire.

    The craft is ready.

Craft design

You can use different techniques and types of design.

They can be colored with colored pencils, or even better, with colored crayons, and then shaded. Paste or write beautiful words on top of the main background. Make fun crafts using the quilling technique and arrange them on the envelope at your discretion. Flat or voluminous applique made from different materials (felt, any fabric, lace) looks great.

For letters you can buy them at the post office, but such ordinary pockets are not suitable for all messages. Romantic letters, invitations or greeting cards are much more pleasant to receive in an exclusive handmade envelope, decorated with love.
