Jeans made from slightly stretchy fabric are best for work. To create the cover, one pant leg is enough for us. First of all, we cut the trouser leg along the seam and adjust it to the size of the notebook. Pre-fix the edges with pins.

The denim cover can be glued to the notebook cover with glue, and it can also be made removable if desired.

Now let's start decorating. We sew or glue a denim pocket onto the front side of the cover. This pocket will be convenient for storing pens or pencils.

Sew on the applique in the shape of flowers. You can also decorate the notebook to your taste, using your imagination.

Hello, dear readers of the cutting and sewing site. We can't help but agree that you can make some pretty creative items out of old jeans with your own hands. Such products include purse, For example. Stylish handbag made from old jeans also a relatively creative product. Actually, everything that was considered creative on the resource. Maybe also jeans - patchwork... too utilitarian, like all kinds of . But with such democratic clothes as jeans, their stocks in the house can be quite large. Something needs to be done with them. It's like a suitcase without a handle, it's inconvenient to drag and it's a shame to throw it away. Today we are making a cover for the diary. In principle, this could be a cover for both a photo album and a cookbook. The principle itself is important. So, the topic of today’s material is “Do-it-yourself diary cover from old jeans.”

Things needed to make a diary cover.

  1. Old jeans
  2. Diary (diary, album)
  3. Scissors
  4. Sewing thread and needle
  5. Can be decorative flowers
  6. Glue

If all this is there, then the cover for the diary is almost ready... ;)

Step 1: Planner Measurement

The measurement can be done without a ruler, simply by attaching the diary to the old jeans you are remaking.

But with a ruler, and in this case with a tape measure, it’s more convenient. First, you need to measure the length and width of the diary and write down their values. When transferring to fabric, you need to add 4 cm to both measurements. This will be the allowance that will bend. Lines can usually be drawn with chalk, a textile marker, or soap. The main thing is that the marks are removed after the product is ready.

Step 2: Cutting the Jeans

You can't cook scrambled eggs without breaking eggs. You can't make a weekly magazine cover without cutting up old jeans.

After measuring, place the diary in an open position on the jeans. This way you can get an idea of where the cuts will be and how much and where the jeans will be shortened.

Don't forget about the allowance. Additional margin of 4 cm in both length and width.

It is wise to cut the flap approximately first. Then trim it in place, attaching a diary. This will give you an idea of what it will look like when completed.

Step 3: Placing the Denim Flap

The photo shows the placement of fabric for making the cover. We must try to fold the fabric so that the back pocket falls entirely on one side of the diary for which the cover is being made.

Apply a little PVA glue. The folded edges of the denim flap are glued from the inside diary. Then cardboard is glued to both halves of the cover from the inside. Now the diary is left alone for a while. After about 20 minutes we can work with it again.

I repeat. When placing the allowance inside the diary, we need to keep in mind that we want to release the entire pocket.

Step 4: Sew Decorative Stitches

Stitches made by hand often look much more attractive and decorative than those sewn by a sewing machine. The decorative effect is also influenced by the color, texture and thickness of the thread.

After gluing, you can see that the additional canvas remains on the left side of the diary. Using a needle and thread we will sew it up. If you don’t try too hard, then, oddly enough, it might turn out more decorative. We put a bartack at the beginning of the line and at the end. Based on the machine stitch principle. Our product made from old jeans is approaching the final stage.

Step 5: Add Flowers to the Denim Cover

This step should of course be driven by functionality. Although crafts made from old jeans will endure anything. Let's add flowers to our project.

Now, in the last step, you can decorate the cover for the diary from old jeans, which we made ourselves, with anything. Rhinestones.

An interesting cover for your notebook. A practical and convenient finishing format will make the diary more durable, pleasant to the touch, and also protect it from rubbing and unwanted dirt.

To start updating your notepad, prepare the following materials:
notebook on a spring, A5 format;
a piece of jeans (a trouser leg from any old jeans will do, but be sure to have a pocket);
two small colored ribbons + a narrow openwork ribbon in light colors;
voile fabric or a piece of transparent tulle;
dense green fabric;
green felt-tip pen;
button;
sewing needle and brown thread No. 30;
scissors;
universal polymer glue.

Remove the cardboard base from the front and back of the notebook, carefully exposing its fastening mechanism.

Then trace the cover onto the denim and cut it out along the outlined outline (without leaving any allowance or extra fabric for hems).

Now sew the back pocket from the former jeans to this piece. To get some contrast, it is better to turn this denim blank over to the other side (wrong side up).

Soft and airy fabrics will help brighten up such a cover. You need to make a small flower from the veil, for which you need to cut out 5-6 round blanks of different sizes.

It is better to make the leaves from any elastic fabric (you can take artificial leather or suede of a suitable color), so as not to additionally process or hem the edges of such small parts. Just draw the veins with a felt-tip pen and your leaves will look quite decent.

Now grease the cardboard surface with glue and place a soft base with a pocket on it (and on the back of the cardboard cover without a pocket).

Sew the flower in the lower right corner of the pocket, fixing the thread inside it. You can simply glue the leaves.

When the two parts of the cover are thoroughly dry, take an awl or nail scissors and pierce the fabric in the places where these parts with springs are attached.

Then carefully return the cover to its place, first threading the back (after and front) wall back onto the spring. At the end, be sure to close this mechanism tightly.

Glue the openwork braid onto the pocket, and use the remaining ribbons to make a bookmark (optional).

Materials:
paper with a density of 80 g/m2 - 25 sheets of white and 25 sheets of blue;

paper with a density of 300 g/m2;

glue "Moment-Crystal";
silicone sealant;
"Iris" threads;
waxed cord;
threads;
cotton fabric;
old jeans;
padding polyester;
ribbons, ribbons, lace, plaster decorations, etc.;
white acrylic paint.

Tools:
breadboard mat and paper knife;

office clips;
natfel;
sewing machine.

How to make a denim notebook with your own hands.

We divide office paper into 5 sheets, alternating white and blue, and bend the sheets in half. We collect all the sheets into one block.

We place a sheet of cardboard on the top and bottom of the resulting block, and clamp it on the sides with paper clips. Let the block sit for several hours. Then, using a triangular file, we cut out 6 small indentations at a distance of 3 cm from each other and from the edge of the block.

Let's start binding, to do this we take the block out of the clamps. We collect the sheets in notebooks of 5 sheets of the same color, alternating white and blue notebooks. Next we will need two strips of cotton fabric, slightly less than 3 cm wide.

We sew the first notebook with a “forward needle” seam using a single “Iris” thread, bending the fabric from above, leaving the tip of the thread outside.

We put the second notebook at the top (don’t forget to alternate colors), insert the thread into the hole in the second notebook and also sew it with a “forward needle” stitch. We hook the thread above the fabric to the thread of the previous block.

At the end of the notebook we tie a thread into several knots with a tail left. We sew the third notebook, and above the fabric we hook the working thread to the thread from the previous notebook. At the end, you need to tie a knot between the current notebook and the two previous ones. To do this, we pass the thread between the previous notebooks, make a loop, pass the needle and tighten the knot. In the same way we sew the remaining notebooks into one block. We secure the thread at the end with several sewing knots.

Then again place a sheet of cardboard on top and bottom of the resulting block (we clamp it on the sides with paper clips). Using a sponge, carefully coat the spine with silicone sealant.

We place clips around the perimeter of the spine. After a few hours, the block can be trimmed at the printing house, but you can leave it as is. Then we glue the captal. Next, before gluing the endpaper to the ribbons, glue a piece of kraft paper.

Let's get to the endpapers. We cut out A4 size rectangles from designer cardboard and bend them in half. Glue the endpaper, glue a piece of kraft paper with ribbons on top of the endpaper.

For the binding cardboard cover, we cut out rectangles so that on three sides they extend beyond the block by 5 mm, and on the spine side they are 5 mm smaller. From white paper with a density of 300 g/m2, cut out a rectangle with a height equal to the height of the cover and a width of 10 cm.

Glue the spine to the cover. Cut out a rectangle from padding polyester to the size of the cover and glue it on top of the cover. From jeans, cut out a rectangle 2-3 cm wider than the cover. For additional decoration, you can cut out a small front pocket of jeans.

Glue the fabric to the cover. It’s okay if the piece of fabric was not whole, but with a seam, it’s even more interesting. We sew the cover along the edge using a sewing machine. Using a brush, we place blots of white acrylic paint on the cover. After the paint has dried, we place background stamps. We decorate the cover using lace, sewing, ribbons, and plaster decorations. We sew the pocket so that you can insert a pencil or pen into it.

Advice.
In order for the spine to bend beautifully, it is necessary to make several creases at a distance of 2-3 mm from each other. The distance from the first to the last creasing should be 4-5 mm greater than the height of the spine of the notebook.
