Lada vesta new engine. "Lada Vesta": the engine in all possible variants. How long does the engine run on Lada Vesta

AvtoVAZ is developing its 16-valve valves gradually, that is, step by step. When the updated Kalina family appeared in 2013, buyers were perplexed why they offer a 106-horsepower engine in the “with mechanics” trim levels, which differs little in design from the usual Priory engine.

The new engine was equipped with a resonant boost, and it seemed that only minuses would come from its presence: reliability was reduced, there was no way to bring a cable drive. But it turned out that the new motor was no worse than its predecessor: the MAF often breaks down, and the DBP and DTV sensors almost never. There is no DMRV sensor in the design of the 27th motor, which is the secret of increased reliability.

Why was the 27th engine replaced by the 29th

The VAZ-21127 engine was good for everyone, except for one thing - it complied with Euro-4 standards. For Vesta sedans produced since November 2015, this option would not work. It was necessary to solve a difficult problem: to improve the environmental class without increasing the volume and without losing power. And as a result, a new family of 16-valve valves appeared in the VAZ arsenal. We are talking about motors 21129 - they really meet the latest environmental standards.

The first engine of Vesta, produced by VAZ

To go to the Euro-5 standard, the 21127 motor had to be finalized:

  • The resonant intake system, as well as the exhaust system, has been completely redesigned;
  • The ECU controller (ECM) received a new firmware - even the algorithm that regulates the volume of resonant chambers has been changed;
  • Engines 21127 and 21129 have a slightly different compression ratio - 11.0 versus 10.45;
  • The motor suspension was also improved: it became possible to mount it on a subframe.

It is clear which engine Lada Vesta would have had in 2015 and later, if not for the transition to Euro-5. It would be a VAZ-21127 ICE, but with a modified suspension. And now we see that almost everything has been improved. As they say, change is on the face.

What happened to the resource

The resource value for the VAZ-21127 engine is 200 thousand km. In reality, it is more. The motor must run all these “thousands” without replacing parts: only the belt tension is checked, the oil is changed, and there is no need to replace the timing belt.

Timing belt, VAZ-21127

There is no need to “adjust the valves”, since the 16-valve engine is equipped with hydraulic compensators. Everything that is said here applies to the latest development of the VAZ - the motor 21129.

Note that the 27th and 29th engines do not differ much, while the second of them is operated in a more gentle mode. And that means that its resource will be at least no less than typical for the ICE "21127" - 200 thousand and more!

What exactly has changed in the design

In appearance, the motor 21129 looks very modern. In its design, for example, there is a pressure sensor (DAP) combined with an air temperature sensor (ATS). The shutter of the resonator chambers is controlled by a pneumatic actuator.

All these elements are also present in the design of another engine - the VAZ 21127. And it was possible to improve the performance without increasing the working volume by the following methods:

  • The “piping” was redone - exhaust, resonant intake, controller program;
  • Lightweight pistons are used in the design: an alloy with aluminum is used for manufacturing, piston skirts are shortened, and recesses for valve plates are made in the bottom;
  • Both compression and oil scraper rings are thinner than on all previous engine models. Friction losses have been reduced.

Pay attention to point 2. It does not follow that . Do not draw false conclusions!

Specifications

All parameters related to motor 21129 are listed as a list:

  • The value of the working volume is 1.596 l;
  • Compression ratio - 10.45;
  • Power (passport value) - 106 hp at 5800 rpm;
  • The highest torque - 148 N * m at 4200 rpm;
  • The maximum shaft speed is 6200 rpm;
  • Oil change intervals - 15,000 km;
  • Crankcase volume - 3.2 (2.9) or 4.4 (4.1) l, the first option - for the AMT box;
  • Oil viscosity - from 0W30 (0W40) to 20W40 depending on temperature;
  • Engine resource - 200,000 km.

There is up to 3 ml of oil per liter of fuel consumed. These figures are indicated in the VAZ documentation. This means that it will take 240-250 ml per thousand km. MotorsNissan (HR16DE) spend twice as much.

Power and torque depending on the frequency, rpm

Now let's analyze what is shown in the graph. The motor develops a force exceeding 130 N * m in a wide range: from 2300-2400 to 5900 revolutions! This means that the traction will be very “elastic”, which is exactly what is needed for configurations with AMT.

At low speeds, not exceeding 1800 rpm, the value of traction "tends to zero", which is typical for most 16-valve. But we are talking about which engine is on the Lada Vesta - this is not an SUV, where “traction on the bottoms” is very important. Close the part of the graph located in the first quarter with your hand - you get the load curve of the “ideal engine”.

What kind of gasoline to fill

A few words about the fuel used. For engines of the 21126-21127 family, there was a strict ban: you can pour the 95th gasoline, but not the 92nd. But knowing what engine is being installed on Lada Vesta now, the ban can be neglected: the compression ratio has decreased, which means that it is also possible to reduce the octane number.

The documentation for the engine in question indicates gasoline with an octane rating of 95. Other options are not considered.

Car with internal combustion engine "21129", test drive on video

Lada Vesta made its debut on the domestic automobile scene in 2015. The manufacturer had high expectations for the new model: Vesta was supposed to completely change the idea of the Russian car industry. Already today we can say that AvtoVAZ engineers have coped with their task. A car with a different design to past models has become competitive.

The popularity of the car is growing, as evidenced by the fact that only in the first month of 2018, Lada Vesta outperformed its competitors in terms of sales. Before buying a car, it will not be superfluous to find out what the resource of the Lada Vesta 1.6, 1.8 engine is.

Power plant options

The car was originally equipped with three different power units: two engines with a working volume of 1.6 liters and one 1.8 liters. The AvtoVAZ plant designed the so-called 27th and 29th engines, or their full markings - 21127 and 21129. The first one had to be abandoned over time. The VAZ-21127 engine was distinguished by a long resource and good technical characteristics, but its inconsistency with Euro-4 standards forced AvtoVAZ engineers to look for a way out of this situation. The way out was found in the following - to bring environmental performance to perfection by upgrading the engine.

The difference between these two power units is as follows:

  • The compression ratio was reduced from 11.0 to 10.45 in the 29th engine;
  • The control unit controller received a new firmware with a completely different algorithm;
  • The exhaust system and resonant start have undergone modernization;
  • The details of the connecting rod and piston group are lightened.

The new engine joined the ranks of 16-valve. In general, the manufacturer managed to technically improve the Lada Vesta engine without changing the working volume and losing power. You can also find a modification with a Nissan HR16 DE power unit under the hood. It was designed with the help of foreign engineers. The Nissan engine runs smoothly, both on the AI-92 and on the AI-95. At the same time, the internal combustion engine was equipped with a chain instead of a timing belt, which allowed it to somewhat outperform its counterpart in terms of actual resource.

How long does the engine run on Lada Vesta?

According to the manufacturer, the resource of the VAZ-21127 engine is more than 200 thousand km. In fact, a hassle-free engine can go a lot further. The tasks of the car owner include timely oil changes, refueling with high-quality fuel, and periodic checks of belt tension. Modification of the VAZ-21129, due to a more advanced and simplified design, has a longer resource - 250 thousand km. The motor is equipped with hydraulic compensators, so there is no need to “adjust” the valves.

The 1.8-liter "Nissan" engine received an enlarged piston, a larger crank radius, and more economical oil channels. Also, the absence of a timing belt and the presence of a chain contribute to the resource of the Lada Vesta engine. The imported assembly serves uninterruptedly for about 280 thousand km, allowing the owner to save on the replacement of consumables. This modification of the engine allows modernization and tuning. The owner of Lada Vesta can equip his car with LPG.

Real performance according to reviews of car owners

The standard 1.6-liter engine is paired with a 5-speed manual and a robot. The quality of the transmission as a whole does not cause any complaints from the owners. Also, drivers often wonder what kind of gasoline is best to fill in Lada Vesta? The manufacturer recommends refueling only with 95th gasoline, this information can be found in the documentation for the car. This is important to consider, because the nominal resource was determined taking into account many indicators, in particular, taking into account the octane number of the fuel.

Motor 1.6

  1. Egor, Moscow. Behind the wheel of Vesta since 2016, engine 1.6, mileage at the moment is 25 thousand km. During the purchase of a domestic car, I was interested, of course, in the resource of the main power unit. The dealership assured that Vesta can easily cover more than 200 thousand km. So far, I haven't had any issues with breakdowns. I change the oil on time, refuel with AI-95 gasoline. A friend of the VAZ-2109 passed about 400 thousand, therefore, I think that the life expectancy of the car depends on the owner himself.
  2. Maxim, Rostov. I bought a Lada Vesta 1.6 in 2015, I have already wound about 50 thousand km. In my opinion, it turned out a great car. AvtoVAZ really reached a new level by producing cars of the European level. The engine runs like clockwork, I use Lukoil Lux 5W40 oil. I think that the real life of the engine before overhaul is about 250 thousand km.
  3. Gennady, Voronezh. Before transferring to Lada Vesta, I spent a lot of time driving a VAZ-21099. I wound 200 thousand, after which I carried out the first major overhaul. I have no doubts about the quality of our motors. On the same KIA Rio, the manufacturer assured the same mileage as on Vesta. I am almost sure that our car in terms of reliability of the power unit will not yield to the “Korean” in any way.

The resource of the VAZ-21129 engine is about 200-250 thousand km, after which further operation of the power unit is possible only if the driver devotes the proper amount of time to the car, undergoes scheduled maintenance, and carries out timely replacement of engine oil and air filters.

Motor 1.8

  1. Yuri, Yekaterinburg. I have been driving Lada Vesta 1.8 for two years now. What can I say about the car, I don’t really like the interior, they could have done better, but the build quality of the engine is at an acceptable level. It works quieter than the “Korean”, the robot sometimes “thinks” for too long, but not critical. In general, for two years the car did not bring me any trouble. There is no doubt about the resource that over 200,000 km. I myself saw the “nine”, which covered more than 400,000 km.
  2. Stanislav, Astrakhan. I try not to turn the engine over 3000 rpm, I drive calmly. Behind the wheel of Vesta, I relax and enjoy. Revolutionary domestic car, nothing else. It remains to live until the overhaul. For 20,000 runs, I changed the oil, filled it with Lukoil, which AvtoVAZ recommends. Without problems, 200,000 will pass, there is no doubt. Who has problems with domestic engines - you need to devote more time to your car.
  3. Maxim, Moscow. I have already wound 12,000 km on the Lada Vesta 1.8 2016 release. At the turn of the first thousand runs, the “Check Engine” caught fire, went to a service center, looked, they said there was a problem with the ignition system. It turned out later that he refueled with low-quality gasoline. Now I try to fill in only AI-95. Although this motor is “friendly” with the 92nd, I don’t want to risk it anymore. In general, the car is worthy of its money, it will pass 200,000 km, and then it will be seen.

The manufacturer assured a resource for this power unit of 200,000 km, but in reality it can last much longer. The service life depends on the quality of fuel and engine oil.

Surely, a domestic motorist will be interested in what types of engines will be used in the final configuration of Lada Vesta. According to the vast majority of drivers, the Lada Vesta engine is of utmost importance for future car owners.

Fortunately, the characteristics of the Lada Vesta engine have already become available to the public, since the brands and types of power units with which it is planned to equip the new AvtoVAZ model are known for certain. At this point in time, as many as four answers can be given to the question of which engine is on the Lada Vesta - and the proposed line of engines needs to be described and compared.

VAZ-11189

This engine is considered the weakest possible for installation on Lada Vesta. This is indicated by an objective comparison of the technical characteristics of Lada Vesta engines - on this unit, all indicators are much lower than on other versions.

At its core, the VAZ-11189 is a direct modification of the older VAZ-11186 - the only difference between the engines are different intake and exhaust valves, and the engine itself remains the same.

According to the previous experience of the AvtoVAZ concern, whose VAZ-11189 engine was installed on the Grant and Priore in basic configurations, this power unit performed well in assembly with a five-speed manual transmission. However, it should be borne in mind that the dimensions and, accordingly, the weight of the Lada Vesta are quite significantly higher - which means that the engine characteristics may be insufficient.

At this stage, the designers are thinking about refusing to equip the Lada Vesta sedan with this unit. If the engine power, which is only 87 horsepower with a volume of 1.6 liters, turns out to be really insufficient, this can seriously undermine the credibility of the model as a whole.

VAZ-21129

The VAZ-21129 engine model has much more power and attractiveness. Unlike the VAZ-11189, this variation, with the same engine size of 1.6 liters, has a power of 106 horsepower. The main difference that leads to this difference in power is the number of valves. There are only eight of them on the VAZ-11189, and in this version there are sixteen.

This engine of the new Lada Vesta, in all likelihood, will already be available in the basic configuration, while for Grants and Priors it was installed only in Lux configuration cars. However, given the greater mass of Vesta, the maximum speed and acceleration of the car is unlikely to be more powerful and pronounced than that of the same Priora on the VAZ-11189.

It is known for certain that the Lada Vesta hatchback will be equipped with power units of this type, and the VAZ-21129 will be available when purchasing the Classic model complete with a manual transmission. In general, the engine performs well in the conditions of Russian roads. The only thing you should pay careful attention to is the timing belt: if it breaks, the engine valves can quickly become unusable. If such problems are not allowed, the resource of the Lada Vesta engine in terms of durability is quite large.

The disadvantage of the VAZ-21129 is the high level of noise generated, which, among other things, is not always smooth. After prolonged use, the engine, even in relatively good condition, may begin to knock and troit.

VAZ-21176

The most powerful and productive among the VAZ engines installed on Vesta is the VAZ-21176 modification (or its more advanced assembly 21179 1.8 liters). Apparently, the sports Vesta will be equipped with this engine (if it is produced not only for racing, but also for sale to ordinary people), as well as the long-awaited all-wheel drive station wagon Lada Vesta Cross promised by AvtoVAZ designers.

According to verified data, this engine will come with a robotized five-speed automatic transmission, which will make the equipped cars more modern and easy to drive. It is worth noting that, most likely, this engine will be installed on the Lada Vesta in the "Lux" configuration.

The characteristics of this power unit inspire respect. This is the only serial 1.8-liter engine for Lada Vesta, and it is also considered the most powerful in the line (including compared to foreign counterparts, but more on that later). Its power is 122 horsepower in the factory, but it can be increased by installing some additional elements (you can see it in the proposed photo).

Naturally, the higher power level and larger volume will increase fuel consumption quite significantly compared to previous models. Nevertheless, the possibility of developing a higher maximum speed, more confident acceleration and the possibility of a sharp start “from a traffic light” attracts many drivers more than an extra liter or two of fuel can push a hundred kilometers away.

HR16DE-H4M

At the same time, not the most powerful engine will have the highest price. The imported engine installed on many cars of the Nissan concern, under the marking HR16DE-H4M, will cost more than all the others in the line.

It is worth immediately indicating the technical characteristics of the HR16 engine for Vesta. It has a volume similar to the "younger" versions of VAZ engines - 1.6 liters, but its power is 114 hp. - the engine is not bad at all. Even from a fairly heavy car (which, of course, Vesta should be considered due to its solid size, close to class C), such a unit is able to make a fairly mobile and fast car - which is undoubtedly very important both for urban residents and for those who often travel abroad. city of drivers.

It is worth noting the high level of reliability of this engine. According to automotive experts, its durability resource with careful use and regular maintenance is almost one and a half times higher than on a standard VAZ unit of the same volume.

This engine is planned to be installed on the Lada Vesta coupe - thanks to it, the car will gain expression and some claims to sportiness.

Whether Lada Vesta will be put on sale with the possibility of installing a diesel engine is not yet entirely clear. Diesel engines are more economical - therefore, the designers of the plant should think about this issue one way or another.

Only one point is unclear: will the VAZ-11189 engine be installed on the Lada Vesta, or will its use finally be recognized as not making much sense? According to many reputable automotive experts, 87 horsepower for the dimensions of Vesta is really not serious, and for this reason, most likely, the VAZ-21129 will be the “youngest” engine used for the Classic and Comfort trim levels.

Lada Vesta is equipped with three types of engine with different technical characteristics, two of which have a volume of 1.6 liters, and the third has 1.8 liters. Models 21129 and 21179 were designed and assembled directly by AvtoVAZ, and the Nissan HR16 DE engine was created by foreign partners.

Each of the new units has its positive and negative sides. A kind of sensation was the installation on the Lada Vesta of an engine from a Japanese manufacturer (Nissan) with a chain instead of a timing belt and a number of other differences. Description of the features of the new motors below.

Motor Features

The engine for Lada Vesta - VAZ 21129 is designed on the basis of its predecessor - VAZ 21127. It has a new upgraded air supply system and good dynamics. This motor has air temperature sensors, as well as absolute pressure sensors.

Such innovations make it possible to monitor the composition and quality of the working mixture with high accuracy, and also prevents the occurrence of floating revolutions in idling mode. This engine uses a special flap system that controls the size of the intake manifold. Thanks to this system, the engine in Lada Vesta works optimally at any speed.

Features and innovations of this engine for Lada Vesta:

  • The VAZ 21129 has a cylinder block of increased rigidity, as well as more reliable systems for fuel supply, lubrication, engine mounts, exhaust gases, etc. This engine for Lada Vesta has significantly improved its technical characteristics compared to its predecessor and complies with the Euro standard
  • VAZ 21129 for Lada Vesta is equipped with a lighter connecting rod and piston group. The pistons have a shortened skirt and are made of high-strength aluminum alloy. They are designed in such a way that they exclude the possibility of contact with the valve under any circumstances, up to the breaking of the timing belt.
  • The pistons in the motor have two compression rings and one oil scraper ring each. The rings are made thinner, so internal friction losses are reduced.
  • VAZ 21129 involves tuning, with which you can increase its power to 150 hp.

Analysis of the characteristics of the VAZ 21179 engine

VAZ 21179 is a pioneer among 1.8 liter cars in AvtoVAZ and an innovation for Lada Vesta. The motor has variable gas distribution phases, and it is assembled on a conveyor by a selective method.

Externally, the engine looks like standard Russian sixteen-valve models, but inside it is full of surprises. Lada Vesta, which has such a unit under the hood, is much more powerful than its counterparts with other engines and has good dynamics.

Motor Specifications

Having a Lada Vesta with a Nissan engine under the hood, you can be 100% sure of the reliability of your car. The ICE from Renault-Nissan is equipped with a reliable chain instead of a timing belt and can be refueled with both 92 and 95 gasoline. Despite the sufficient number (114) of horses under the hood, Lada Vesta with such an engine consumes very little fuel and also has good dynamics. The new engine, which will soon be under the hood of Lada Vesta, has an enlarged piston. The crank radius has been increased in the crankshaft. Modernized oil channels, they have become more economical and practical. The timing mechanism system has been improved and many other changes have been made that have a positive effect on the power and dynamics of the motor.

Characteristics of the Nissan engine

Thanks to the chain that replaces the timing belt, the owner of Lada Vesta will save money on replacing consumables. The chain is much stronger and more reliable and does not need to be changed. Nissan designers provided for the possibility of this engine running on methane. Therefore, owners of Lada Vesta with a Nissan engine under the hood will have the opportunity to choose the type of fuel.

Faults and engine repair Lada Vesta 21129

In 2015, Lada Vesta was put into production and, looking at the characteristics, many thought that it was old under the hood. So what engine is on the Lada Vesta? This is the new 21129 motor, which is a slightly modified version of the 21127 motor. It is equipped with the same cast iron cylinder block, crankshaft with a piston stroke of 75.6 mm, 133 mm connecting rods and 82 mm pistons. Under the new car, the 129 motor supports were changed.
The cylinder head is the same as on 21127 with a similar adjustable intake manifold.
Features of the VAZ 21129 engine and its differences from 21127 are as follows:
- slightly changed the air supply system.
- 40 mm exhaust system, clamped to Euro-5 standards.
- M86 engine control unit.
This made it possible to improve environmental performance to the Euro-5 level, and at the same time, Vesta's power remained at the level of 106 hp, as in the previous engine. Like the previous motor, the 21129 engine bends the valve.
Vesta used a timing belt drive, belt replacement is desirable every 90 thousand km.
Otherwise, it is the same Priorovsky 21127.

Problems and disadvantages of engines 21129

The main problems of this engine are the same as on the engine from Priora.

Tuning engine Vesta 21129

aspirated

As mentioned above, Vesta Motor uses the new M86 controller and today there are some problems with its firmware. You can do a normal chip tuning, buy a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, a 51mm exhaust system. This will slightly increase the power (5-8 hp) and improve the sound. In a good way, you don’t need to climb further, the car is quite heavy and you still won’t get some kind of crazy dynamics, a light Priora or 2114 on a similar tuning will be ahead.
