Cloud with backlight. How to make a do-it-yourself cloud lamp with imitation of thunder. Idea for a table lamp in the shape of an atomic mushroom

Well, if it’s not cool to create weather phenomena at home, now we are not talking about the coolness from the split system, but about the wonderful clouds hovering in the room. Of course they are very beautiful, but their cost is such that it is easier to do it yourself. Indeed, why not make such beauty with your own hands? The girls from the Like a Riot blog just asked this question. They not only made a cool luminous cloud with snowflakes themselves, but also made detailed instructions on how to do the same with their own hands.

This is how this beauty will look in the end, and now is the time to learn how to make it yourself

To create a cloud you will need:

Round lamp (sold in Ikea);

2 styrofoam balls (or any other lightweight white balls that hold their shape)

1 kg of cotton;

White garlands (to create a storm effect);

Garlands in the form of snowflakes (just for beauty);

Glue gun;

Nylon thread;

5 screw hooks (for attaching the lamp to the ceiling);

Transparent cable ties.

The first step is to screw the screw hooks into the foam balls, after securing them with glue, since the foam is quite loose

After that, using a glue gun, we attach the balls to the lamp (make sure that the hooks are pointing up)

After that, you can start applying a layer of cotton wool

To do this, it is best to use a glue gun so as not to wait for the glue to dry.

Done, now it's time to put garlands in cotton wool, imitating the effect of a storm and hanging it from the ceiling with nylon threads

After that, you can apply another layer of cotton wool or try to fluff the first one.

This is an option proposed by the girls, so no one bothers you to try to attach a garland first, and then apply cotton over it.

Looks cool, but that's not all

To create the effect of a snow cloud, the girls bought a garland in the form of snowflakes, the bulbs of which they fastened 2 pieces each for a more spectacular "snowfall"

Garlands do not have to be in the form of snowflakes, if you do not like the idea too much, then you can not attach this garland at all.

After that, it remains only to fix the snowflakes on the lamp with transparent ties

Latest improvements

The result is really impressive

And the snowflakes hanging from the cloud also turned out to be very impressive.

Unfortunately, there is no video with the effect of the storm, but it is not difficult to imagine it yourself, just remembering how the lights of the garlands run.

Such interior decoration elements are the best suited for themed parties for Valentine's Day, but not only. In addition to any design theme that includes clouds as such (and there are a lot of them), absolutely the same version of the product, depending on the paint and lighting used (and shaped), can be easily applied as “lava”, “smoke” ( say, for Halloween), a huge cotton wool on a stick and everything else that your imagination is enough for.

This is a very simple idea and a relatively easy project to implement, especially if you are ready to work with wire mesh without any problems. And the result is truly magical. With our illuminated clouds, you can decorate a child's or teen's room, or use them to create a romantic, spooky or futuristic atmosphere in the room.

Materials and tools:
- Wire mesh - not too rigid, with a mesh size of no more than 2.5 cm;

Polyfill (Polyfill cotton bulk; a large box or 11.5 kilos goes to 20 medium-sized clouds) or any other natural or synthetic filler that guarantees excellent internal ventilation (the volume will be about the same in any case, but the weight depends on the specific material);

Spray paint (in the original Spray Paint Rustoleum 2X, because it fits very well on the filler, but another quick-drying spray paint will do, giving a fairly dense coating with one spray);

Luminous garland or ribbon with L.E.D. light bulbs (preferably one-color and only the color of the clouds themselves or just white garlands);

IMPORTANT . Since you can hardly get the source materials described in the English-language article in Russia (if you only order on eBay or its analogues with payment via PayPal), and I don’t know their full characteristics, in brackets after the names in the entry above are the main found characteristics on sellers' websites. Remember that the main principles are as follows (in order to avoid fires): absolutely all materials used in the project must calmly withstand exposure to strong heat, including paint, glue, filler and insulating material of the lighting element (garland); the filler, from which the clouds themselves will consist, is also obliged to pass heat well from the inside to the outside, and not accumulate it inside; The lighting element should not be a Chinese/Taiwanese craft without a quality control mark, as this greatly increases the fire hazard of the clouds. Although the author does not specify the heat resistance of materials separately anywhere in the article, follow the elementary safety rules. Spray composition to protect the fabric from fire (Fabric Fire Guard) and in the English-language article is strongly recommended to be used without fail. With us, such formulations are sold in the form of liquid impregnation, which you can always pour into your bottle with a spray nozzle completely cleaned from the inside.

1. Roll out the wire mesh from the roll and let it lie down a little calmly - then it will be easier to work with the mesh after.

2. The shape of the clouds depends on your desire and on the nature of the installation. These can be oval shapeless clouds, cylindrical or even rectangular. It is best to start by twisting the mesh into a regular cylindrical shape, which you will then bend or stretch in the right places to get a more free-form cloud with curves. In any case, remember that the wire base does not have to be perfect, because the filler will then close any flaws, and the mesh will only give the clouds the right volume. And do not forget that after gluing the filler to the mesh, small bends simply will not be noticeable - make them VERY large.

Thus, using special scissors, first simply cut off a section from the grid, the size of which depends on the desired size of the future cloud. When cutting, leave sufficiently long ends of the wire free, because in the end you will fasten them together (for example, screwing with pliers). If there are problems with screwing, use any convenient fastener that you can get to fix the edges of the mesh with each other - from plastic to metal or the usual more pliable but strong wire.

3. Separate from the filler in the roll a piece equal in size to one side of the wire cloud base. In principle, the larger the pieces you use right away, the better, because there is less chance that they will fall off later. Spread a piece on the floor, covered, for example, with newspapers, spray on all sides with a fire retardant. Let the material dry completely. Then lay it out again and spray it with glue on one side. From above, immediately place the mesh base form and press on the latter (or place a weight on top) until the glue seizes. Keep in mind that you may need some help or some small weights as the shape of the base of the cloud is uneven.

As the work progresses and the glue dries, spray each glued part of the cloud from the inside (!) Once again with a special composition for protection against fire.

4. In this way, cover the entire mesh base of the cloud with filler, and then add, where necessary, small pieces of filler (similarly impregnated with the composition from fire and dried) to close the gaps and make the bends of the clouds more noticeable. Let the glue dry completely.

5. When the glue has completely set, place a light layer of spray paint over the almost finished clouds. Keep the layer thin, but use the paint until the clouds look decent in daylight: you will probably stick them once and for a long time.

The paint is dry - spray the entire cloud completely on top with the same composition to protect against fire. Let the cloud dry completely before continuing.

6. Bend a piece of filler from the hole in the mesh base of the cloud from above or from the side, push the LED garland inside. Top or side - depends on where you intend to mount the clouds, and where in the end the power wire will be invisible. For example, if clouds are used in a club, it is better to leave the wire from above, and then it should be put on the ceiling metal frame for light music. And you can make your life easier and buy battery-powered garlands! Choose the length of the garland depending on the size, power and frequency of the bulbs, as well as depending on the size of the cloud. Pushed - shake the cloud a little so that the garland is more or less evenly distributed inside. Finally, it is best to buy a garland with a control panel for programs (flashing, slowly flaring up, changing colors, etc.).

This post follows the article about and it contains 10 options for making lamps with your own hands. Many people solve the issue of light while they are making repairs, and at this time a lot of things distract and it is not possible to pay due attention to lighting. I am sure that if you think about it, you will find those places where you obviously do not have enough light, and if there is such a place, then read on and choose a way to make a lamp with your own hands for your home.

1. Photo flashlight
To make a paper lantern with your photo, you need this list:
Photos for printing
Printer,
paper
12" paper lantern
Glue
Sponge Brush
Ribbon
knife
Template sphere (optional)

The hardest part is guessing the dimensions and cutting the right sphere, and then the glue and your hands will do everything intuitively.
You can make a whole family row of similar lanterns, I think the idea is clear and illustrative.
Found on photojojo.com

2. Bamboo chandeliers
For this project, ordinary bamboo curtains were bought, bamboo thin ribbons were taken from them and balls were glued with ordinary glue and a clothespin. Next, the light source itself is added, ready. Quickly and on a budget, you can of course make it a little juicier by adding more ribbons.

3. Light cloud lamp
Add clouds to the house, even if only for a while, and be sure that these clouds bring only light and no rain.
These cloud chandeliers or lamps (depends on your imagination), are perfect as a decoration for a party or wedding day, baby birthday, etc.
For the project, you need cotton wool, ready-made paper lanterns, glue and straight arms.

4. Lamp with cork lampshade.
Everything is more than simple, we break one thing and make another out of it.

5. Chandelier from cans.
Remember earlier we already had a post about a chandelier made of cans, here is another version of this beauty.

6. Waste paper and a chandelier from it.
Mode magazines of their ladies and give them light.

7. Plastic bubbles
Amazingly beautiful and budget project. To create such a wonderful light composition, you only need plastic bubbles (look for yourself, it can be anything, even a box of sweets), wire and lamps.

8. Fabric lamp.
We look at the lamp that is fed up, we look at the remnants of the fabric! Now we combine, total profit is a new beautiful lamp.

9. Paper lamp.
Where can I get beautiful material for a paper lamp, and in any hardware store, pick up paper with paint color samples. I think in Leroy you can get not only paper but also wire, lamps and a frame.

Thanks to homedit.com for the photo and tip

As was well noted in one well-known hit, the most important thing is the weather in the house. And also comfort. You will have to try hard with the weather, but nice interior details will always help to create a cozy atmosphere. For example, one look at this cute lamp-cloud enough to dispel the clouds of bad mood for the whole day. And the best part is its not hard at all do it yourself.

If you are looking for a budget-friendly yet effective way to decorate a nursery, prepare a house for a holiday, or even make a set for a performance, arm yourself with a good mood, a couple of hours of free time and let's make a magical cloud lamp.

For magic you will need:
One or more paper Chinese lanterns (depending on the desired shape and size of the "cloud");
Cotton wool, batting or synthetic winterizer for "fluffiness";
A battery-powered LED light bulb or an inexpensive night light;
Glue gun;
Line for fastening.

Step 1

Apply glue to a small segment of the ball and immediately press a piece of cotton wool or padding polyester to it. This should be done as quickly as possible while the glue is hot. Press down for a few seconds.

Step 2

Segment by segment, cover the entire flashlight with a thick layer of cotton wool. This is the longest stage of creating a "cloud".

Step 3

To make the ball more cloudy, apply a second, third, any necessary number of layers of cotton wool or padding polyester. Glue large pieces of filler to each other in a chaotic manner to make the cloud more shaggy. And do not forget to leave the hole for the light bulb unglued.

Step 4

When the shape and volume of the cloud suits you completely, insert an LED light bulb or a battery-powered nightlight into the middle of the paper lantern. This will be the source of soft unobtrusive lighting.

Step 5

Don't forget to attach the fishing line if you plan to hang the lamp.

Cloud is ready!

And in this video famous DIY blogger and jack of all trades Tiffy Quake will show you how to make another version of the cloud lamp. Tiffy uses several paper lanterns of different sizes, and as a light source - garland.

A creative lamp will surely delight all households without punching a hole in the family budget. What can not be said about its prototype - which will cost lovers of originality a tidy sum.

Making crafts with your own hands is a very pleasant process, it's hard to argue with that. For many craftsmen, this is a kind of meditation; it soothes, develops and inspires. Probably, the thought often occurred to you: “how to make a lamp yourself?”. How to make a new chandelier or pendant that will delight, emphasize your creative nature, surprise guests and complete the interior? Where to get ideas? We have prepared 5 simple examples for implementation that will be useful to you.

Lights in the clouds

Looks amazing and inspiring. Take ordinary cotton wool, form a “cloud”, use strong white threads to fix it. For lighting, use only cold, energy-saving LED lamps, you can use LED strip. For an authentic "flying in the clouds" effect, create compositions with several cloud lights.

The glass is half filled with light

Glass processing requires maximum accuracy, but it's worth it! Glass pendant lights always look stylish. At the bottom of a vase or a large glass, make a hole with a special drill for glass and tiles. Experiment with different types of glass, the stronger the light is refracted, the more interesting the effect created by the lamp. To complete the composition, stick a bright sticky tape on a third or a quarter of the wire.

Not all that glitters is gold

An ordinary Ilyich light bulb can also add style to your interior. However, the rough base is the only thing that confuses. To help you - a toilet paper sleeve. Wrap it in gold foil. The result will please you.

Light and wine

If you are fond of crafts, then you have definitely heard about lamps in the form of bottles. For several years now, such suspensions have been very relevant. To create, you need to cut off the bottom of the bottle, sand the sharp edges and put the wire and cartridge inside the bottle.

Night clouds for children

An ingenious idea for creating an atmosphere in a child's room. Not the easiest option to implement, but the end result is worth the effort. All the clouds are cut out of plywood using a jigsaw and hung by hinges to screws with a large cap screwed into the wall. Behind the largest cloud is a compact sconce, the ceiling of which is directed upwards.

Supernova

Our list is completed by an amazing hanging chandelier. To make such a suspension, you will need a Chinese lantern, thin paper, and scissors. Be patient and go ahead! Such a chandelier is combined with almost any interior. You can find interesting design solutions and exclusive chandeliers in the store http://lampabar.ru/.
