General diagnostics

Gout is a disease that is difficult to diagnose in the early stages, since most of the time it is asymptomatic, and during periods of acute attacks it resembles reactive arthritis in its course. Therefore, an important part of the diagnosis of gout is the analysis of the content of uric acid in the blood, in daily urine and the clearance (clearance rate) of uric acid.

During the period of an attack, laboratory acute-phase reactions are detected, in the analysis of urine, slight proteinuria, leukocyturia, microhematuria are possible. With intra-articular localization of tofuses, destructive processes begin from the edges and, as they develop, move to the center. Extra-articular erosion is usually localized in the cortical layer of the metamiphyses (from the medulla of the edges of the long tubular bone) and the shaft of the bones.
