In various tests, the 5s white iron shows results that are twice the performance of the 5 iPhone. Now this model is one of the most powerful smartphones on the market.
But in practice, there are no applications of such power yet. Its potential is used by the photo and video camera, and the smoothness of the high level in the interface of iOS 7 is still visible. At the moment, only one game can make the A7 processor work to its fullest - this is Infinity Blade III. The same problem with the "motion processor" M7. This is an atypical element that first appeared in Apple devices. And he, too, cannot yet fully reveal his potential. Representatives from Apple have so far identified only a few uses for this new technology. Navigation software can use M7 data instead of frequent GPS calls. But the chip gives most of all the possibilities for "sports" software, which used to hang in the background and only consumed the battery. It is not yet known what other uses for the M7 will be. The White 5s is definitely worth the money. Only a new Apple product does not qualify as a "new model". This is a classic update, the same white iPhone, only reinforced in 3 directions: photo and video capabilities, performance and data security due to the emergence of a fingerprint service. But if you compare our white 5s with the same iPhone 4 8gb white, the difference is enormous. The appearance of new colors should delight Apple users, for whom the style of the gadget is one of the main requirements.

For example, the potential of powerful hardware in the new Apple model at the moment cannot be realized without games, photo and video editors. The appearance of the finger scanner was necessary for those who had really important information on their mobile phone that needed protection. The camera was already good, but now it has become even better, plus there is a slow motion mode. If we compare the photo with the iPhone 4 8gb white and the iPhone 5s, then the difference is huge.
We would advise you to consider replacing your old Apple smartphone with a brand new white 5s if gaming and working with complex video editors are important to you. At the moment, this is the best smartphone from Apple.
Before the presentation, I was the proud owner of a white iPhone 5. And I didn't even have a thought to change it to 5s. A sea of rumors about an upcoming novelty raged on the network, and the more awkward they were, the more I realized that I did not need him, I was like with the "five" for another year. But then September 10 happened and ... now I am holding the "space gray" iPhone 5s in my hands. So, let's figure out how the new product differs from its predecessor, and is it worth spending a considerable amount for the letter S in the title?
Design in detail
The hero of today's review, the iPhone 5s 16 GB in Space Gray, came to me from America. Before that I used exclusively white models, but this "space gray" amazed me even during the presentation. Compared to the usual black iPhone 5, the novelty looks more noble due to the silvery edges and the brightened back cover. In addition, Apple thus got rid of the problem with peeling paint - in principle, a good solution. Models in silver and gold are also available to customers. And if the silver iPhone 5s looks little different from its predecessor, then the gilded novelty caused a real stir. The Golden iPhone was dismantled like hot cakes, and the deficit for it remains to this day. The most affordable model turned out to be in Space Gray, so it will be seen more often on the street.
Apart from the new colors, Apple has worked hard on the details. The frame around the camera has remained in the past, the design of the volume and lock buttons has changed. In the "five" they were framed with a recess slightly larger than the key. As a result, after a while the buttons became clogged with dirt and dust, which did not look very aesthetically pleasing. In addition, the iPhone 5s has got a dual flash - two paired LEDs hit with warm and cold light, which gives the frame more natural colors.
The last and perhaps most interesting change is the "Home" button. The familiar square with rounded corners has given way to the Touch ID sensor located under the sapphire button. Outwardly, this solution looks great - the glossy surface, framed by a black ring, plays with edges as well as the iPhone itself. Otherwise, the phone is still as great in the hand as its predecessor, the iPhone 5.

Since we are talking about the changed Home button and the built-in Touch ID sensor, I will dwell on it in more detail. Perhaps this is the best thing that could happen to the button on the phone. I note that her move became small, but clear, with a sharper click. In general, it is pressed as cool as it looks. But this is not its most important value.
Touch ID is a function that, at the suggestion of the media, has become almost the main feature of a smartphone. After the presentation of the iPhone 5s, heated debates erupted on the network, the essence of which was as follows: "But there were phones with a fingerprint scanner before the iPhone." There were, moreover, back in 2005. But either the market was not yet ready, or it was not sold so well as, in general, it did not take root. However, on the iPhone 5s, you simply don't notice how you use Touch ID. All you have to do is press "Home" and leave your finger on the button. The scanning process takes a split second. I have been using my smartphone for a week and I can confidently say that the sensor fulfills its role almost 100%. Finger detection in 4 out of 5 cases is accurate and smooth.
In order for the function to work, you must set a numeric password. In fact, Touch ID only duplicates its input, replacing and making life easier for the user. When you turn it on for the first time, you are prompted to add one of your fingers, and the calibration lasts long enough to avoid a lot of errors in the future. The process of analyzing the fingerprint itself is as simple and convenient as possible. All you need to do is follow the prompts and alternately apply and release your finger. In addition to unlocking the device, you can use Touch ID to buy apps and music without having to constantly enter your password. This is great, but it's a shame that this feature doesn't extend to third-party apps. Imagine that you can enter passwords for all sites and services just by tapping Touch ID. Impressive? Of course, but so far one can only dream of it.
Camera
Apple has been improving the camera year after year, but is not in the megapixel race. As in its predecessors, it is eight megapixel, but the Cupertinians tried to maximize the quality of the images themselves. Happened? Undoubtedly. I will not describe the technical details, for many users they will simply be boring. Let me just say that the new Slow shooting mode just amazed me. The smartphone shoots HD video at 120 cards per second, and the 64-bit A7 processor instantly processes everything and voila - the real Slo-mo is in your hands. I think these videos will soon become a trend and flood the Internet.
With the photo, everything also became much better. If in good light conditions the iphone 5 is practically not inferior to the new product, then in the dark the 5s is undoubtedly in the lead. For the absence of noise and interference, we must thank the enlarged camera sensor, which makes blacks really black. Now you are not ashamed to look at photos on your computer screen, let alone Instagram. In addition, there is a new "Burst mode". Now the iPhone can shoot at 10 frames per second, and then choose the best option, or leave a series of photos. The idea is not new and, frankly, not very impressed. But I think there will be people who will use this function as well.
Performance
Apple has endowed the iPhone 5s with two processors at once - a 64-bit A7 and an M7 coprocessor, which is responsible for motion sensors and takes the load off the main chip. If you think that the transition to a new bit capacity has drastically changed the operation of the system, then I will have to disappoint you. iOS 7 on 5s works in the same way as on iPhone 5. "Five" keeps up well against the background of the novelty and lags behind by some fractions of seconds, which are hardly important for the average user. Yes, the graphics in "Infinity Blade 3" are flawless, and in iMovie videos are rendered 2 times faster, but I think few people need it in a smartphone.
However, I'm sure the new processor will still show itself. Right now, the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s are roughly on par in terms of performance. But what happens next? And then iOS 7 will grow, new features and more voracious applications will appear. Within six months, the iPhone 5 will lag behind in performance, while the 5s will be able to show itself in all its glory. So far, only standard programs have been developed for the new hardware, but already now the developers are adapting their projects to the new architecture - fortunately, Apple has done everything to make this process as simple as possible.

In my opinion, this is the best iPhone that Apple has released. The company took all the best from its predecessors, while making a huge reserve for the future. The world's first mobile A7 64-bit processor, great camera and Touch ID biometric sensor make this smartphone unique. That being said, the gadget boasts excellent battery life. With active use, it lasts for a day or a day and a half at medium intensity. All this makes the iPhone 5s not just a minor update of the "five", but a truly new iPhone. It remains to answer the main question: is it worth changing the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 5S? I would advise anyone who has the financial ability to purchase a new product. But, probably, first of all, this applies to the owners of iphone 4 and 4s. However, if you want to be at the peak of technology or you are tired of the battered black "five" - the choice is obvious.
