Specialized Educational and Scientific Center (SSCC) of Moscow State University- a leading state educational institution. The school, founded by the outstanding scientist Academician A.N. Kolmogorov in 1963 for gifted high school students from different regions of our country, has been providing its students with a unique education in programs of physics and mathematics, computer information, chemical and biological profiles for more than 40 years, prepares them for admission to the best universities in the country.
Study and Science
A distinctive feature of the education system at SSC MSU is the combination of the best traditions of fundamental education with the early development of individual abilities, creative inclinations, the ability to independently navigate the advanced directions of modern science.
The organization of the educational process at the MSU SSC is close to the classical "university" system: lectures, seminars, workshops, sessions. This approach allows our graduates, after entering the university, not to experience the problems of "adaptation" through which the bulk of freshmen goes. All teachers of the school are teachers of Moscow State University.
The early development of scientific interests and the involvement of schoolchildren in research activities are traditionally the most important tasks of the boarding school.
To solve them, many different special courses and scientific seminars have been organized at the MSU SSCC. The total time of additional classes is about 70 hours a week, of which the student chooses several in accordance with his scientific interests. Our students take part in Russian and foreign scientific conferences.
A number of competitions for schoolchildren are held on the basis of the SSC MSU: the International Scientific Conference of Schoolchildren "Kolmogorov Readings", stages of the All-Russian Tournament of Young Physicists, summer and spring subject schools and much more. Today SSC MSU is the leader among Russian schools in terms of the number of laureates of scientific conferences, winners of Olympiads in physics, mathematics, computer science, chemistry and astronomy.
Practice shows that from above 80%
graduates continue their education at Moscow State University, the rest are successfully enrolled in other leading universities in the country. Every year, half of the school's graduates become students ahead of schedule based on the results of the Olympiads. The Academic Council of the school recommends the best students for admission to the specialized faculties of Moscow State University without entrance exams.
In the Land of Smart Persistent Purposeful
SUNC is not just a school, but a small country with its own history, holidays and traditions.
All nonresident schoolchildren, and most of them, live in a hostel. Two hostels and an academic building make up a single complex located in a picturesque part of Moscow on a separate protected area with a large garden.
More than 80 people are involved in organizing the life of the students of the boarding school every day, including class teachers, curators, educators, doctors. The guys have constant access to computers and the Internet, they can write home a letter by e-mail or get in touch via ICQ.
Here you will find a rich cultural life - theaters, museums, exhibitions, concert halls, hiking trips, sightseeing trips. A wide variety of sports competitions are held regularly.
The boarding school is attended by children from different regions of the country, from families with different levels of income. The SSCC has a system of social support for students: tuition, accommodation in a boarding school and five meals a day are paid for by the university. Parents only partially reimburse the costs of keeping their children in the boarding school: security, medicines, communication services, laundry, etc. School graduates who have achieved success in business each year allocate funds for material support for students.

Department of Biology
In 2003, at the SSCC, on the initiative of Academician V.P. Skulachev, a biological class was organized under the auspices of the Faculty of Bioinformatics and Bioengineering of Moscow State University.
The development of modern science and new science-intensive technologies, primarily bioinformatics and bioengineering, pose new challenges for education. The biological class at SSC was created to work with children showing natural science abilities, to solve the problem of teaching modern biology in secondary schools; development of new programs and approaches to train personnel for innovative technologies, as well as scientific activities in the field of modern biology.
Currently, the SSCC bioclass is the only one in Russia with in-depth training simultaneously in biology (with an emphasis on molecular biology and biochemistry), chemistry (with an emphasis on obtaining research skills in the field of organic chemistry), as well as in physics, mathematics and computer science.
Teaching in the biological class is based on the technology of educational and research teaching, therefore it includes the subject "methodology of scientific research", field practice, research expeditions (Baikal, Ural, White Sea, Karelia, Altai, Transbaikalia). Individual research work by each student is included in the curriculum. For 10 years, students' scientific works have been published in international journals, presented at scientific conferences, at scientific student conferences, at schoolchildren's conferences. Also, the children have the opportunity to prepare for the Olympiad in Biology, and every year there are winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Olympiad in Biology in the class.
In the non-biological classes of the SSCC, biology lasts 1 hour per week, it is taught according to textbooks for specialized biological education.
Currently, the department employs 11 people, including 3 doctors of sciences, 4 candidates of sciences. Most of the teachers combine this activity with scientific research in other departments of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (Faculty of Biology, A.N.Belozersky Research Institute of FHB), are published in high-rated international journals.

All specialized subjects are taught by graduates and employees of the corresponding faculties of Moscow State University. In addition, SSC students carry out a significant part of practical classes and many research projects on the basis of specialized faculties.
Enrollment of schoolchildren in grades 10 and 11 of the boarding school named after A.N. Kolmogorov
SSC MSU annually in March - July enrolls students in the 10th grade of the Kolmogorov boarding school for the Physics and Mathematics and Chemistry and Biology Departments and in the 11th grade for the Physics and Mathematics Department. The Department of Chemistry and Biology is represented by specializations in chemistry and biology.
School enrollment is carried out on a competitive basis, based on the results of entrance examinations. The first round of entrance examinations at the MSU SSCC is held in about 40 regions of Russia from March to May. Each student of the 9th or 10th grade has real opportunities to enter and study at the SSC MSU. Applicants take exams depending on the choice of specialization. Specialized educational and scientific center (faculty) - boarding school named after A.N. Kolmogorov Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov (SSC MSU) was founded in 1988 on the basis of Physics and Mathematics School No. 18 at Moscow State University, created in 1963 by outstanding scientists, academicians A.N. Kolmogorov, I.K. Kikoin and I.G. Petrovsky for the purpose of selecting and training high school students who have shown an inclination to study mathematics and natural sciences. Based on the ideas of the founders, SSC MSU accepts schoolchildren not only from large cities, but also from deep regions of Russia.
Classes at the school are held in the form of lectures, seminars, special courses and laboratory-practical work, which are conducted by professors and teachers of the natural and humanitarian faculties of Moscow State University, including 12 doctors and 65 candidates of sciences.
A variety of methods for finding gifted children, author's educational programs have led to the regular participation and victories of our schoolchildren in Olympiads and participation in scientific conferences of the highest level. Most of the graduates continue their studies at the faculties of Moscow State University (mechanics and mathematics, physics, computational mathematics and cybernetics, chemical, biological, bioengineering and bioinformatics, materials sciences, etc.).
The educational building and two dormitories of the MSU SUNTs are located in a picturesque place in the Western Administrative District of Moscow. The buildings house classrooms, a lecture hall, cathedral rooms, laboratories, sleeping rooms, medical offices, a dining room, a library, a reading room and a sports hall, where various educational activities are held. The school has scientific and creative circles and interest clubs. Students regularly visit exhibitions, museums in Moscow and the Moscow region, and during the holidays they make excursion trips around the country and abroad.
