RivaTuner Statistics Server is designed for gamers who want to improve the performance of their PC without harming it. It automates overclocking and allows you to control the temperature and other indicators so that they do not go off scale.
How to work with RivaTuner Statistics Server application.
The Rivatuner Statistics Server application controls the graphics adapter, allowing you to set the parameters you want without harming the hardware - that's what this program is. It works with both NVIDIA and AMD. The interface looks quite simple, all functions are visualized in the form of buttons, scales and levers - this is done so that everyone can work with the application, regardless of knowledge about PCs and devices. At the same time, there is a mode for advanced users.
Principle of operation
This program allows you to easily "get" to those functions of the graphics adapter, which are difficult to access, having at hand a standard set of resources. Its options make it possible to monitor drivers and registry entries. To improve performance, mini-utilities are built inside the shell that communicate with the central and graphic processors and give them the necessary commands. The program is suitable for all versions of Windows, starting from 7th and higher, and for all known video adapters that are not out of use.
When you turn on the game, the program window remains in the visibility zone so that you can monitor the change in performance and resource consumption. The application is capable of:
- Overclock the graphics adapter while spinning the fan to avoid overheating.
- Maintain high performance of the video card and CPU, which allows you to comfortably play games and use other resource-intensive software (for example, for animation).
- Summarize performance metrics across applications and provide visual statistics.
- Quickly and conveniently take screenshots and convert them to the desired extension.
- Take a video recording of the screen.
- Change the number of frames per second, which is especially important for games where the composition is built in the first person, that is, the player looks at everything as if through the eyes of a character.
Installing and configuring utilities
The distribution kit of RivaTuner Statistics Server is not distributed by itself, but together with another application for increasing productivity - MSI Afterburner. The latter shows all the data on the internal hardware of the PC, and the utilities work exclusively in tandem, so you will have to install both. You can download the installer on the developer's official website. After unpacking and launching the boot file, you can simply follow the prompts that appear: choose the language, the location for storing the program, agree to the terms of use. First, MSI Afterburner is installed, and then - RivaTuner (depending on the version of the distribution kit, they can be placed in different folders of the shared archive or installed immediately as a single package). Now let's figure out how to set everything up:
- First, open MSI Afterburner - on the left, under the big round button, you will see several small ones. We need the one with the cogwheel.
- Clicking on it opens another window with several tabs - select Monitoring and in the Active charts section specify all the indicators that you want to see.
- Turn on Show in Overlay on-Screen Display mode.
- Specify the parameters in which the hardware of your PC should operate. It will be better if before that you thoroughly study its capabilities, so as not to set the bar too high.
Parse the RivaTuner setting:
- Before using it, you need to find the icon. As a rule, it is located in the lower right corner, where there is usually an antivirus, Bluetooth and "Update Center" icon.
- Click on it and open the program window.
- Here you can change the frame rate in the game and customize the interface design of the application itself.
Sometimes in "Steam" the RivaTuner window is not displayed on top of the game. In this case, open RivaTuner, click the plus sign at the bottom right, select the name of the game and on the left, move the corresponding slider to the "Enabled" position.
Now let's talk about how to uninstall RivaTuner if you no longer need it:
- Open "Control Panel" - "Add or Remove Programs".
- Find the software in the list, select it and remove it using a special button.
- If it is not there, call the "Task Manager" (Ctrl + Alt + Del) and find the executable file of the program.
- Right-click on its name and look in the "Properties" location.
- Go to this folder and clear everything related to RivaTuner.
Of course, this program is also uninstalled along with MSI Afterburner, as it is installed.

RivaTuner is a small and at the same time powerful utility designed for tuning and overclocking (increasing the initial technical characteristics) of video cards based on GPUs manufactured by NVIDIA and AMD. The full name of the program is RivaTuner Statistics Server.
Despite the fact that the last update of this program was released back in 2009 and is no longer implemented, the use of RivaTuner is still relevant today.
How to use RivaTuner software?
The relevance of the RivaTuner utility lies in the fact that it works at a low hardware level. Those. software updates for video cards (drivers) and operating systems have practically no effect on the program's performance. It directly accesses the hardware of the graphics adapters, using the standard software shells that are present in both old and new versions of drivers and various system files.
Among the main functionalities of RivaTuner, it should be noted:
- There is a variety of graphics adapters, both when using software (drivers) and by low-level access to the hardware of devices.
- Possibility of fine manual adjustment of video parameters of the Direct3D and OpenGL libraries.
- The ability to control the cooling system of the video card (adjusting the rotational speed of coolers).
- Low-level settings for refresh rate, color, brightness, contrast and gamma.
- The ability to create a personalized driver for the currently used monitor based on the PnP information received from it.
- Monitor current clock speeds, voltage levels, and temperatures for the GPU, memory, and cooling fans.
- The ability to change up and down the values of FPS (frames per second), the load of the GPU and memory in 3D applications and games.
- Full control over the AGP bus both through the video card driver and bypassing it (at the hardware level).
- The ability to create profiles with parameters for launching games / applications and quickly switch between them.
- Diagnostics of the graphics subsystem and creation of reports for further study by specialists.
All changes made using RivaTuner take effect immediately (no computer restart is required). When using this program, it should be borne in mind that overclocking a video card can negatively (up to a complete failure) tell on its performance.
RivaTuner Statistics Server compatibility with Windows
As noted above, RivaTuner works with both old and new versions of Windows operating systems, including Windows 10. It supports x86 and x64 (32 and 64 bit) systems. The interface and built-in reference materials for the program are fully translated into Russian. RivaTuner app is 100% free.
