Increase clothing size: description of the Standard service

Today, there are many ways to embroider a product. It all depends on where exactly the problems occur. Most often it is the chest, sleeves (especially the armhole), shoulders. We can offer a variety of ways to solve these problems!

To expand a tight shirt, there are several options:

  • Sew additional fabric through the side seams;
  • Make an incision on the side or on the back and sew in the straps.

If you need to fix the problem in the area of \u200b\u200bthe arms and expand the sleeves of the shirt, then the following options will do:

  • Make an insert in the armhole;
  • Add vertical slats to the sleeves.

A thing that is narrow at the shoulders can also be expanded with slats, for example, on the back. There are other options for how you can increase the shirt - it all depends on your wishes and the capabilities of the product itself.

Atelier "Etalon" offers favorable terms of cooperation and guarantees the quality of the service. Here you can expand shirts of any models and from various materials!

Soak the entire shirt in a bowl of warm water. This can be done by soaking it in the sink or a large bowl. Make sure the water is cool and has soaked into any areas of the T-shirt that you want to stretch. Water should cover the T-shirt with a margin.

Add 1/4 cup of hair conditioner to the water. After you have added it, stir it with your hand so that it completely dissolves in water, and does not stray into drops. Hair conditioner will soften the fibers, making them stretch more easily.

  • If you don't have a hair rinse handy, bring baby shampoo.
  • A cheap conditioner will do, don't waste your expensive hair products on a T-shirt.
  • Flatten the T-shirt and hold it under water for 10-15 minutes. The easiest way is to place the T-shirt on top of a bowl or sink and then gently press it into the water so that the water and rinse soak into every fiber in the T-shirt. If the T-shirt is crumpled, then its parts will shrink in different ways.

    • Hold the T-shirt flat towards the bottom of the bowl, keeping it from curling for a minute or two so that each fiber is soaked in the water and rinse aid. The more it gets wet, the longer it will lie at the bottom of the bowl on its own. Leave the T-shirt there for 10-15 minutes.
  • Rinse your shirt. Remove the T-shirt from the bowl, drain the water and add clean, cool water (or use another bowl). Rinse the T-shirt in much the same way as you rinse your hair from conditioner, otherwise it will be covered with a sticky residue.

    • Take your time. Spend 5 minutes or so rinsing the T-shirt so that the already clean water soaks into each fiber.
  • Find a flat spot to put down your T-shirt. Dryer top, granite counter top or refrigerator top will do. Line the area with towels first to protect the T-shirt (and the surface if you don't want to get it wet).

    • Wring the T-shirt out of the water to keep it from dripping and dry faster.
  • If there is a print on the T-shirt that you don't want to stretch out, iron over it now. Stretching a T-shirt can damage the design on it. But if you dry the design first, it won't stretch as well as the other parts of the T-shirt (the ones you want to stretch) because they are still wet.

  • Stick your arms up to your elbows in the part of the T-shirt that you want to stretch. If you want it to become wider, stretch it out wide without applying too much force. This may leave a strange "mark" somewhere on a T-shirt. If it turns out that your arms are not strong enough to stretch the T-shirt, try with your feet, or take some kind of strong stick, or ask someone to help with arms stronger than yours.

    • If you just want to make the shirt longer, stretch it between the neck and bottom in opposite directions. Pull from left to right so that all sides of the T-shirt stretch equally.
  • Question from Galina:

    I have a short-sleeve fitted shirt that I hardly ever wore because of the shallow armhole, and now it's a little too tight for me. Can you give me some advice on what to do with it. There is no stock in the seams.

    On the photo is Galina's shirt

    Reply from Hope:

    Hello Galina.

    The shirt can be expanded at the side seams by inserting any natural (non-synthetic) webbing or tape that you can choose from the huge range of colors available on the market.

    The sleeve is arranged according to the same principle. To do this, you will have to rip the shirt along the side seams. Separate the sleeve along the armhole 5-6 cm from the side seam in both directions. Overcast the side seams of the shirt and sleeves. Sew the tape with a seam into the overlay. Same thing with the sleeve. Connect the sleeve to the armhole and overcast.

    This method will give you a one size spread, so the tape that you will insert should not exceed two cm, because. we connect with a seam into an overlay (this is important). It will turn out very beautifully and it will not be visible that the shirt has been redone :).

    After washing, your favorite dress has shrunk and become tight. Don't get upset!

    If desired, you can give the dress a new life. Don't know how to do it? We will advise you!

    So, the dress is small. What to do? Lose weight?

    Nutritionists will simply advise you to lose a couple of pounds and fit into your favorite outfit. But what if for some reason you can't do it? Let's try to change the dress.

    How to arrange (alter) a dress if it is small

    First, you need to decide what you want to get in the end. And, of course, it all depends on the design of the dress, which is subject to alteration. If it is with numerous seams, reliefs, coquettes, this even simplifies the situation. You can simply insert any material between the seams. But in any case, the dress will have to be torn open.

    After that, iron the seams well. Carefully remove all the threads from the previous seams. Next, decide on the material that you will insert. You can use similar to the main one in texture or color, or you can use a contrasting one. For example, take guipure or some kind of mesh.

    This will help not only solve the problem of size, but also add femininity and sexuality to your outfit. If you are afraid of exposed areas on the body, try using a double material. Now it is very fashionable to put mesh fabric on top of satin or silk. The flesh-colored fabric goes well with black guipure. You can take the fabric red and black. The effect will be just amazing!

    What to do if a new dress is not enough

    If the dress is still new, or barely worn, you can simply rip open the undercuts and slightly reduce the seam allowances. Believe that due to such simple manipulations, you can significantly increase the dress in size.

    To increase the length of the dress, you can sew an original frill to the bottom or cut it along the waist line and insert a strip of fabric into this place. Moreover, it can be completely from a different fabric. The same material can be used to trim the sleeves or the bodice of the product.

    Remember that before sewing on a new fabric, it must be washed or ironed, be sure to steam it.

    This is done so that after finishing work, your notion does not shrink and does not spoil the whole look of the dress.

    Before starting work, be sure to carefully calculate all the patterns, taking into account allowances for seams and freedom of movement.

    If the dress has become small in a certain place, try to work it out. For example, for the chest, it can be advised to simply deepen the neckline or insert ribbons into the seam, intertwining them beautifully. If tight in the hips, you can try to insert wedges (triangular pieces of fabric). But with the waist there may already be problems. You will have to carry out the correction of the entire dress.

    But it is better, of course, if you see that all your efforts do not bear any fruit, do not suffer and buy a new dress, no matter how much you love the old one. Another option is to take your dress to the atelier to a skilled craftsman, for sure, you will be satisfied with the result!

    The situation when a beautiful and comfortable piece of clothing becomes too cramped is familiar to everyone. This may be due to weight gain, pregnancy, as well as the wrong choice of washing or drying mode. However, your favorite thing can be redone so that it will not only fit well, but also acquire a new original look. Below are several options for increasing the size of clothing in width by sewing in simple-cut details. All of them are simple and require minimal sewing skills.

    Basic Rules

    In order for the converted things to look good, the work must be done very carefully. All expansions are carried out along the structural seams of the products, and the joints should not have holes and scuffs. The material for inserts can be very diverse:

    • fabric in tone or vice versa, contrasting;
    • decorative braid;
    • lace;
    • satin ribbon, etc.

    At the same time, it must be remembered that fabrics of different densities and textures, firstly, can skew when stitching, and secondly, behave differently after washing. The easiest way to achieve a good fit is with the use of elastic materials, which are currently very large selection.

    We arrange the belt

    As a rule, the first sign of weight gain is a belt that is difficult to fasten. In this case, the easiest way is to alter the button. If the size of the belt does not allow this, then you can make a fastened bar, the design of which is shown in the photo. Material - corsage tape.

    If the skirt or trousers have a beltless cut, then triangular inserts made of dense elastic material in the side seams are an effective solution. If there is a belt, then you can rip it off, and then stitch the top, as shown in the figure.

    Expandable elastic inserts

    A comfortable and easy solution is to replace the fabric belt with a strip of thick knitwear. It can be straight or wraparound.

    Expectant mothers can thus remake any trousers suitable for them. To do this, you need a dense, but elastic knitwear with a width of at least 20 cm, which is sewn just below the hip line.

    Increasing the size of the skirt and trousers

    With a uniform increase in body volume, inserts on a skirt or trousers are made along their entire length in places of longitudinal seams, most often lateral ones. The main problem with this is the fit of the belt. The easiest solution is to cut the waistband and extend the expansion piece all the way to the top.

    If the belt is long enough, it is torn off, inserts are made, then sewn back. The photo shows a reworking of a low-rise denim skirt, in which the belt has moved higher in the figure. The resulting reduction in the length of the skirt is compensated by the protruding corners of the side inserts cut along the oblique.

    A simple, but very original solution is to expand the skirt or trousers with an elastic band, shown in the photo.

    Remodeling the blouse and dress

    The pattern of a blouse and dress is built according to certain rules, which must be taken into account when reworking the product. However, in some cases, you can get a good result with the simplest methods, using simple-shaped parts sewn on the sides, as well as in the center of the front or back. The easiest way to remake clothes is sleeveless. If the blouse has become tight in the chest and armholes, it is ripped along the side seams, and triangular inserts are sewn in.

    For a rounded tummy, side parts are inserted that expand downwards
