Why does frost draw patterns on the windows. Patterns on the windows in winter. Why do frosty patterns appear on the window

On frosty winter days, quirky patterns can be seen on the wooden-framed windows. Modern technologies make the atmosphere in our apartments more comfortable. Therefore, we no longer see such patterns on plastic windows. What is the difference and why does frost draw patterns on old windows? As you probably already guessed, it's all about the tightness of the windows. But first things first.

How patterns are formed on windows in winter

When the air is cooled to zero degrees, its humidity is significantly reduced. Moisture condenses on surfaces. In such weather, frost forms on the trees outside. A similar process occurs when frost paints patterns on the windows.

The pattern on the glass indicates poor thermal insulation. That is why there are no frost patterns on modern sealed plastic windows.

Interestingly, the patterns are divided into two types:

  • dendrites - like trees;
  • trichites are fibrous patterns similar to fern leaves.

Dendrites form when the air humidity is high, when the temperature gradually begins to decrease. In this case, water accumulates at the bottom of the window. Here, at first, large branches are formed, which become thinner and thinner upwards.

For the formation of trichites, there must be irregularities, small scratches or dust particles on the window. Then ice crystals use them as a basis for the formation of thin fibers extending in both directions from a thicker stem. Since usually there are always specks of dust or scratches on the glass, it is more common to see trichites in winter.

How to avoid patterning

To prevent frosty patterns from covering the glass, it is necessary to reduce the humidity of the air. To do this, the hostesses put a glass or other container with salt between wooden frames. Salt is a good moisture absorber.

Another method is to prevent the glass from getting too cold. This is achieved through good thermal insulation at the junction of the outer glass with the frame. For this, the installation site of the glass is coated with a transparent sealant and then glazing beads are nailed.

Although the frosty designs on the glass look fabulous, the thermal insulation of the house is more important. Therefore, most of the old windows with wooden frames have already been replaced with plastic ones. They not only better save heat in the apartment, but also become reliable protection from dust and noise, which is very important for residents of the central streets of the city. Now such patterns on windows can be seen only in old houses in villages or in trolleybuses in

Chaotic lines, wide stripes and arcs, the smallest wood motifs ... The main artist in winter is frost, who paints unique pictures on the windows. How does this happen?

In scientific terms, frosting occurs on the inner surface of the glass. The fact is that the air temperature near the windows in the winter season is always lower than in the rest of the room. Cold air cannot contain as much moisture as warm air; it falls out in the form of frost in winter or dew in summer. If the temperature of the glass is above zero, then the windows are covered with the smallest droplets of moisture - they fog up (those who wear glasses will understand what this is about). And if it is below zero, then water vapor settles not in the form of water droplets, but immediately in the form of ice crystals (that is, there is a transition of water from a gaseous state immediately to a solid - sublimation). Such ice crystals (frost) cover the glass with a thin layer.

And the drawing is associated with the movement of air in the room: people are moving, the hood is working, the windows are opened for ventilation, there are cracks in the frames, etc. An important role is played by the features of the glass surface (the smallest scratches, dust or fingerprints, etc.). The combination of these factors forms a unique frosty pattern.

By the way, not only windows can get frosty, but also any objects cooled to a negative temperature, which are brought into a warm room from the street. The frost just doesn't look so impressive on them, and these objects usually quickly heat up to room temperature. Another thing is the windows, the low temperature of which is maintained by the external cold.

And most importantly, the drawing on the windows also indicates that the room has poor thermal insulation. In modern double-glazed windows, where two or even three glasses are used, frosty patterns are no longer formed. In this case, there is a vacuum with zero moisture content between the glasses and there is simply nothing to settle on the cold glass (on the one that is adjacent to the street). Now the lot of frosty patterns - houses in villages, windows of some buses and trolley buses. Progress leaves romance in the past ...

The symbol of winter in past centuries was not only severe frosts and snowdrifts, but also ice patterns on the windows, which, according to an old belief, were drawn by Father Frost himself. Ice crystals form on the glass in unique pictures, in which you can see the forest thicket, unusual animals, fabulous trees and flowers, the sea, stars. For ice gardens to bloom on the windows, it is necessary that the air in the room is humid, and outside the window there is a sub-zero temperature.

Why do frosty patterns appear on the window

Everyone remembers the parable that Santa Claus draws frosty patterns on the window. He quietly sneaks up to the window at night and draws unique frosty pictures on it with a thin ice brush. In fact, everything is much more prosaic. If the air in the room is humid, and outside the temperature is from zero degrees Celsius and below, then excess moisture condenses on the cold surface of the window glass. Here the water vapor cools down and goes from a vaporous state to a solid, forming fine crystals.

Any seemingly ideal has microscopic nicks and scratches. The moisture that settles on the glass surface crystallizes first of all on these tiny defects, and only then new and new ones cling to the first crystals, forming patterns. Sometimes, for the appearance of ice patterns, there are enough dust particles that dot the surface of the glass, or stains that remain after washing the windows. Drafts and air currents also contribute to the appearance of patterns. By the way they are formed, frosty patterns are divided into two types: dendrites, which are branched patterns that resemble trees, and trichites, which are more like stars.

Why are there no patterns on plastic windows?

Patterns on windows in frosty winter appear when water vapor from the air condenses on the surface of cold glass and then crystallizes, forming ice. In other words, the glass and the surrounding air layer must be cold enough. Plastic windows have better thermal insulation properties than wooden windows, so the temperature of the glass on the inside is higher. Consequently, condensation with crystallization is worse. Simply put - old wooden windows "breathe" and cold enters the apartments, and patterns are formed from the temperature drop.

Old wooden windows are double frames with single glazing without glass packages. The frames are not sealed, between them (and therefore between the glasses) there is ordinary room air, on the cold glass there are processes of moisture condensation and crystallization. And PVC windows are used - two or three glass, hermetically glued. Between the glass panes, not humid room air, but dry, free from dust and moisture, or an inert gas. So it turns out that there is nothing to condense on the coldest outer glass - there is no moisture in the chamber of the double-glazed unit, and no patterns form on the inner glass, since it is too warm.

There is another reason: old wooden windows, as a rule, are "dirtier" than PVC windows, that is, there is more dust on the surface of such glass, namely, water crystallizes on dust particles.

If ice patterns appear on PVC windows, this means that the windows are not installed quite correctly, they are not properly sealed with a special rubber band, the glass unit is not airtight ...

Summary of the lesson "Where do frosty patterns come from on the windows"

Where do frosty patterns come from on the windows

Goals classes:

To enrich the cognitive level of children in the field of natural phenomena; - to form in children the ability to observe - to see the unusual in the ordinary; arouse children's interest in winter natural phenomena; - - to educate children to love the nature of their native land; to the artistic word (poems, riddles, signs);

Develop visual observation, the ability to notice the unusual in the world around;

Develop imagination.

Course of the lesson

Guys, today I will tell you a fairy tale about Winter, but not a simple one, but a magical one. She is very fond of doing miracles. There lived a small Droplet on a large white cloud. She lived alone and she was bored. Droplet wanted to see what was behind the cloud. She decided to jump out of the cloud. As soon as she flew down, she suddenly turned into a beautiful Snowflake.

Guys, tell me why the Droplet turned into a Snowflake? (children's answers)... Let's remember what happens to water in winter? (children's answers).

Now listen to the poem and tell me what I'm going to tell you today.

I couldn't take my eyes off the glass this morning.

Here again he brought me his surprise

This fabulous artist freezing... A miracle appeared before me -

Artist frosty fruit of creation

He doesn't just paint something there,

And he draws a fairy tale on the window.

What am I going to tell you about today? (children's answers)... Guys, I invite you to see what are patterns(view presentation « Frosty patterns on the window» ).

Every winter we have windows miracles happen appear of incredible beauty patterns! It was always interesting where do they come from, and who draws them?

The wonderful pictures that appear may resemble either palm forests, or garlands of flowers, or branches of fir trees. How do these bizarre frosty patterns on the windows?

Guys, what do you think, how Frost draws these patterns?

(Children's opinions: Blowing cold on glass, magically, throws on snowflake windows and they stick to the window.)

In fact, from the cold, frosty air droplets of water, which are present in the air, settle on cold glass, freeze and turn into pieces of ice, similar to the finest needles, which diverge in different directions along the glass. During a cold night, many, many of them are formed, they seem to grow on each

friend. And in the end we get different patterns and designs, in which you can even see the outlines of familiar objects. This, it turns out, is how Frost patterns, and the artist here, without a doubt, is freezing... It turns out such beauty that you can neither say in a fairy tale nor describe it with a pen. By the way, in Germany Frost patterns on the glass they call it - "Ice flowers".

Patterns are different: some are formed at the bottom window, others - in the form of narrow stripes of frost, which will be the stem of the plant.

One girl decided to observe how the Frost patterns... It has arrived frosty morning... When I woke up, I looked out the window. On the glass, ice-cold patterns that I painted on the window freezing... It is hard to believe that all this was drawn without the help of human hands. It is especially beautiful when a sunbeam falls on the window, then the whole picture sparkles. Watching the snowy patterns, I noticed that they colored: sometimes blue in cloudy weather, then yellow in the sun, then pink and purple - at sunset. In the evening, when it gets completely dark outside and the glass looks black, frosty patterns sparkle like the stars.

Interesting I also observed patterns on the windows of my father's car... The glass is, as it were, covered with a fur coat made of ice needles. Let's go, glass frozen, dad doesn't like it, but for me the most beautiful picture is drawn on glass. "

Whether at all frosty patterns appear on the windows? It turns out not. Patterns do not appear on the window if the window is open. With high-quality glass sealing, patterns do not appear on the glass, since there is no temperature difference. Patterns on the glass are short-lived - the sun begins to warm, and Frost patterns become less clear, blur and flow down the glass in streams of water. They disappear forever.

About frosty patterns have signs, riddles and poems. Once upon a time

frosty patterns people determined the weather:

If the twigs patterns downward, the weather will be snowy and cloudy;

If up - clear and sunny (showing illustrations frosty patterns) .

Guess the riddles:

It turned white for the night everywhere, The wind blew, and freezing

And we have a miracle in our apartment! They brought us snow from the north.

Through the window, the courtyard disappeared. Only since then

There a magical forest has grown! On my glass.

Poem:

Without waiting for the warmth

In the middle of a winter day

Flowers bloomed

On my window.

I went to the flowers

My cheek has become wet

Because of window

I touched lightly.

I went to the flowers

But they did not smell.

Why did they grow up,

On winter days?

But after all Frost patterns you can paint yourself, for this special paints are even sold and other options are offered to paint glass (with toothpaste, white gouache or artificial snow)... But none of people can do it as intricately, as magically as nature can do. (or grandfather freezing) .

Guys, what interesting things did you learn today? What did you like the most? What signs do you remember? Tell your parents about them.

Older people remember very well what magnificent patterns formed on the windows during severe frosts. And this beauty appeared in the winter, in almost every home. This phenomenon has always amazed us, and at the same time raised the question - who creates such beauty?

No matter how beautiful these window patterns were, in most cases they disappeared from our reality. And the point is not even that most of us have plastic windows on which frost does not freeze. Even on classic wooden windows, just an even white field, with some touches, is now more often formed. And only very few, you can still see these fantastic pictures in winter.

Indeed: why did the frosty patterns practically disappear on the windows? In order to answer this question, it is necessary to know the properties of human nature. It turns out that human energy is formed by the soul. And as it has now become known, this energy is able to go beyond the body and affect external substances and objects. Human thought can have a particularly strong effect on water.

One Japanese researcher made experiments to support this position. As a result of his research, he in particular found out that depending on the quality of thought, crystals of the corresponding quality are formed. That is: positive thoughts form beautiful crystals - and negative thoughts form ugly crystals. For this, it is enough for a person to generate negative energy.

How can this information be related to the phenomenon we are talking about here? And for this we must again turn to human nature. We found out that the human body works from the energy of the soul. And, of course, the main potential of this energy is used precisely during the day. Most of this potential goes not only to the work of the muscles of the body and accelerated biological processes, but also to thoughts. At night, the energy of the soul, for these processes, is spent much less. This means that some energy potential remains unused. And since the human soul is designed for constant dynamics without rest, its potential, released from bodily needs, tries to manipulate external elements as well. And water molecules that condense and freeze on the glass of windows are quite suitable material for such manipulations. And the souls of people expressed their beauty on the glass windows.

It was like that before. Now, however, souls rarely allow themselves to be engaged in "window creativity." Will a person draw if he has more pressing matters? Obviously not. What kind of deeds have appeared in human souls?

As you know, the soul, being in the body, is obliged to take care of its biology. One of the most important tasks for her is to ensure the energy purity of the body. However, rarely does any of modern people retain such purity inside.

Any negative reaction of a person - be it envy, anger, or excessiveness in one's desires - all this literally, poisons our organisms. The studies conducted by the Japanese scientist fully prove this position. By the way: in the experiment on the influence of the energy of thought on rice with water, it was found that the positive energy of thought turns this mass into kvass. From the point of view of human perception, kvass is a useful education. But the negative energy of thought, made the rice moldy. From the standpoint of a man, this is already a "poison".

It's no secret that the modern world stimulates our negative reactions. All this poisons our biology. The "Creator's Mosaic" describes a technology that allows you to cleanse the body of that "dirt" that a person has worked during the day. And since few people know about this technology, we do not try to cleanse ourselves, and with such "poisoning" we calmly go to sleep. As we have already said: a lover of drawing will not sit down for this occupation if the house is dirty.

Remember how a negative thought poisoned the rice water, causing the mass to grow moldy. The same happens with the biology of the body, if a person produces many negative reactions during the day, the body will be poisoned. Accordingly, the liberated potential of the soul will not even try to draw window patterns - it will strive to get rid of the “dirt” that a person has formed during the day.

Now we know why the frosty patterns on the windows disappeared from the majority of families. It's all about the appearance of more negative reactions in people. And to this we are stimulated not only by society, but also by watching films and programs that carry negative.

In order to clog your body, you need not only to learn how to filter the screen dirt, but also to learn how to properly respond to external negativity. For such lessons, the instruction for life set forth in the texts of the "Creator's Mosaic" is ideal. Make your soul happy - study these materials well! And besides, this will bring great joy to your body - you will no longer be sick. Probably after that your soul will be able to paint beautiful pictures on the windows at night. Good luck!
