Keyboard with touchpad. Compact Bluetooth keyboard with an interesting touchpad. The best keyboard for work

I noticed this keyboard a year and a half ago, I even wanted to buy it on Ali, but it didn’t work out :(
And now I came across this keyboard again, but already in the form of another product ordered specifically for the review.
I'll try to understand if this is really a good keyboard or I made a mistake the first time.

For the first time, I even specifically talked with the seller, he had paid delivery for Ukraine and free for Russia. I asked him why it was so and whether it was possible to deliver it to us for free, to which I replied that such were the rules.
I was then quite new to the world of Chinese goods and in the field of communication with sellers of Chinese stores, so I just gave up on this matter.

But some time ago this keyboard caught my eye in the Ichbeer store, naturally I took it for a try.
Moreover, I have not seen reviews on this keyboard.

There were no complaints about the packaging, they shook it from the heart :)

The keyboard itself is in a blister. The blister is collapsible (i.e., you can open / close and not be noticeable), made of fairly hard plastic, which is a plus for delivery.

Batteries are not included. There is a suspicion that they were originally there, since there is a compartment in the blister, but most likely they are removed to reduce problems with mail.
In general, initially I didn’t want a bluetooth version of this keyboard, but just a radio, but I didn’t pay attention when ordering. In principle, this does not mean anything critical, except that you cannot enter the BIOS of a computer from such a keyboard :(
Declared support for Android, Windows, iOS. In reality, I could only check with the first two, no problems were found, I don’t have Apple.

The kit included instructions in English, but I don’t think that this is critical, since everything is clear and so.

And here is the beauty herself. The color, classic black, looks good, at least at first glance.
The design of the keyboard is such that it lies with an inclination on the table.

The slope is provided by a protrusion along the entire length of the keyboard. Inside this ledge is the battery compartment.

Next to the battery compartment is the only control, the power switch.
The keyboard is powered by two AAA batteries. In the middle of the compartment there is a plastic half ring that holds the batteries. But to be honest, I do not see the need for this fixation, a piece of foam rubber would be quite enough, as is usually done. But the care from the user is pleasant.
There are also three rubber feet on the bottom, but unfortunately they slip a little during active work due to the fact that the keyboard is light.

We install batteries and try to turn it on.

Before linking the keyboard and the computer, you must press the combination Esc + K on the new keyboard.
The connection went without problems, the computer saw the keyboard, offered to enter the code and confirm, literally a second after entering the code, the keyboard connected.
Checking the operating range showed that in line-of-sight conditions it works quietly at a distance of 8-10m, if there is an obstacle in the form of an interior concrete wall, then the range drops to 5-6m.
Unfortunately, the keyboard can only be paired with one device, if connected to one computer, then when connected to the second, pairing with the first is lost and must be reconnected.
It's strange that XP did not ask for any password, it just connected and worked right away.

The keyboard is not as small as for a mobile phone, but not as big as a regular one.
Dimensions 262x85x20 mm
In appearance, it is a cross between a familiar desktop keyboard and a small keyboard for TV boxes.

Unfortunately, the keyboard does not have a Russian layout. This is of course a minus, at least for most of our users :(
It is a pity that keyboards with the Russian layout are not very common.

The top row contains the functional buttons for iOS, Android, Windows.

These buttons switch the operating mode of the F1-F12 keys, you can understand the correspondence from the plate.
If you switch to Android mode, and work in Windows, then the keys will work as written for Android, for example, F11 will control the on / off sound.

In addition to choosing the assignment of function buttons, there are four more that are called through Fn.
The small number of buttons that are called as functional ones makes it a little easier to work with, the keyboard for the most part does not require the use of the Fn button.

There were no complaints about the quality of the keys, neatly.

The inscriptions on the keys are made with paint, but as I understand it, they have an additional protective coating. It is believed that this is one of the most short-lived options. For those who are interested in reading in more detail, there is a whole wiki on the wiki.
Curious, but there are such keyboards with laser engraving?

What first drew my attention to this keyboard was the large touchpad.
But the main thing in it is not only the touchpad itself, but also the fact that it can emulate a numeric keypad, or rather a numeric keypad.
The fact is that I am very used to using an additional keyboard for numeric typing, and sometimes I have to enter numbers often and I was upset that it was not available on small keyboards.
The only thing that is unusual for me is that zero is made rather according to "accounting" in the form of two keys 0 and 00, I'm used to one big key 0.

Touchpad dimensions 50x80mm.
The up/down movement roughly corresponds to a screen height of 1080 pixels
The left/right movement is slightly less than the screen width of 1920 pixels.
Left click - single on the touchpad itself
Right click - with a touch of three fingers,

Switching between the touchpad mode and the numeric keypad is done by moving your finger along the strip located above the numeric block.
Initially, I was worried that I would have to move slowly so that the keyboard understood what they wanted from it. But practice has shown that rather the opposite, you need to move your finger quickly, you don’t need to press, switching is easy. But when moving slowly, it does not switch.

Not without a "fly in the ointment", although I'm already used to it and rather looking for where it is, than whether it exists at all.
I can't figure out if it's meant to be or if it's a bug or a feature, but the top of the keyboard is higher above the plane than the bottom.
It's harder to describe, it's easier to look at the photo.

And it is interesting that there is no such feature on the left.

The touchpad also protrudes slightly at one of the corners. I tried to push it deeper or “scratch out”, but the attempts were in vain, it sits very tightly, obviously glued.

If you look at the top end of the keyboard, you can see the mechanism of the keys.
On the one hand, it’s bad that the keys are not recessed inside the case and any dust and debris will get there, but on the other hand, debris will climb into the closed keyboard, but it’s more difficult to pick it out.
Rather, the problem is that when the keys stick out, then when you put such a keyboard into some kind of bag, there is a chance to tear off a couple of buttons, i.e. the keyboard is not very suitable for mobile use :(

Naturally, I wanted to disassemble the keyboard. My readers are already accustomed to the fact that I parse everything that falls into my hands.
But alas, this is probably the first thing that I just physically could not make out.
The fact is that, as far as I understand, the metal (rather tin) base of the keyboard is glued to the plastic case. The electronics is presumably located in the ledge from below, it simply cannot be inserted anywhere else.
All my attempts to open ended with the fact that I just ripped out a couple of keys, but at the same time looked at their design.
The keyboard is a standard “rubber” keyboard, the keys have a “scissor” mechanism that is standard for laptop keyboards.

I installed the buttons in place, and proceeded to the "Russification" of the keyboard.
Somehow I haven’t bought films for such an operation for many years and was even surprised when it turned out that not only were they actively sold and were inexpensive, they were also found within a 15-minute walk from my house :)

Just in case, I bought a couple of options, transparent, with only a Russian letter applied, and black, which completely replaces what is printed on the key.
In reality, I really liked the transparent version.
For work, I needed tweezers and a small knife (pry the sticker from the sheet).
An additional function of the stickers is to protect the native marking from erasure.

I was worried that the blue color would look faded on black, I used red and yellow before, but it turned out even better than I thought.
What prevents Chinese stores from simply completing keyboards with such leaves.

In the course of gluing Russian letters, I completely forgot about a couple of important points in the keyboard review.
The key travel is quite deep (as for a small keyboard), and is about 2 mm, the tactile sensations are normal, the operation of the button is clearly felt, there is almost no noise.
We can say that the operation of the keyboard is very similar to that of a laptop (there is a strong suspicion that it is).

The size of the main buttons is 15x12mm, it is convenient to press, but the width of the additional buttons is only 10.5mm, which is already more difficult here. Below I will write why I paid attention to it.

After the "russification" of the main keys, I still have a few stickers.
This is a solid sign, the letter X and E. In this keyboard, they are not in the standard places, in the letter row, but at the bottom, on small additional buttons (between Alt and the left arrow).
Therefore, I indicated the size of the small buttons. The location of these letters can be inconvenient, especially if you "jump" from a regular keyboard to such.

That's all, there is one sticker left, this is the letter Ґ, not to be confused with the letter G.
In theory, it is located on the / button, and the sticker manufacturer gave a choice of two stickers for this key, with a letter or oblique ones.
I didn’t learn this letter at school, I never use it in my life, and I only found out about it when my daughter went to school. Accordingly, I decided not to use it at all.

Comparison with the keyboard from this.
The new one is clearly larger, has a more convenient arrangement of keys, and not just a matrix, and a larger touchpad.
The first is more convenient for truly mobile use, the second is more for home use.

Summary.
pros
Convenient size.
Large touchpad with digital block emulation (actually what I liked).
Light
Stable work
Good tactility.
The buttons are not rubber, but full-fledged plastic with a "scissor" mechanism.
The size and design of the buttons allows for "russification" with the help of stickers.

Minuses
Slight general manufacturing negligence
Due to the small mass, the keyboard can slide on the table.
Battery powered.
No status indicators.
The letters X, E and Ъ turned out to be in places that are inconvenient for typing.
The absence of Russian letters on the buttons.

My opinion. The keyboard has its pluses and minuses, however, as it always happens. The impression of the convenient location of the main part of the keys was spoiled by the inconvenient location of the three additional keys, which can be critical for speed dialing.
There is a general thoughtfulness, but in some places there are assembly flaws.
It's hard to say about the protruding top row of keys, it seems to me that it would be more correct to drown them deeper.
The touchpad is really comfortable, switching the touchpad or the digital block is clear, problems can be with a very slow swipe.
The fact that the Bluetooth keyboard, and not just a radio, is also a plus and a minus. If you use it with some kind of TV box, then the USB port will not be occupied, if with a regular desktop, you will have to buy a Bluetooth adapter. Well, it’s bad that you can’t enter BIOS from such a keyboard, it can be critical.

In general, it will be convenient for episodic work, but I think not for permanent work, although this may be a matter of habit.

I present to your attention an overview of an interesting keyboard in my opinion. It all started with the fact that I bought with a cover. It turns out that half the time I use a tablet with a cover, half without. And I'm tired of poking the device back and forth. Having shoveled open spaces of online stores in search of a more convenient cover with a keyboard, I stumbled upon the hero of the review and decided to take it. What came out of it under the cut

When buying, the presence of a touchpad on the keyboard also played a role, after all, I still have not lost the habit of using the laptop. And also the presence of 6 rows of keys, while competitors often have only 5 rows of keys, and sometimes some are combined via Fn. It should be noted that there is the same one but with the Russian layout, but according to the seller, the plant temporarily stopped producing them, and did not find the Russian one from other sellers either. So I had to take the English version from this seller with a low price.
Everything is standard for delivery, a couple of weeks by Finnish post and I have it. I threw away all the packages immediately at the post office - the keyboard itself was packed in a transparent plastic box, the box was wrapped in a pimply film, and all this was carefully enclosed by the Chinese in a “small” film package. To the honor of the Chinese film, he did not regret it.
To begin with, the delivery set is very meager, except for the plastic box that went into the trash near the post office, we also have the keyboard itself, instructions and a microUSB cable. I must say right away that the cable does not pass more than 0.5 A, and it is short, i.e. most likely will go to the urn after a while. Below are pictures of the keyboard, cable and instructions.

Ergonomics and design. Behind the keyboard there are stops for the tablet, they can be hidden inside, and when using the slider on the bottom of the keyboard, they click out. It is worth saying that the angle of inclination of the stops is unregulated.

At the same time, the tablet stands confidently, does not strive to fall at all, it turns out like a netbook with something. The angle is good, not too flat and not too steep, just what you need in general.

And most importantly, the tablet is easily dismantled in which case and also returned to its place. In the photo above, the screen diagonal of the tablet is 9.4", I think it will be fine with both 7" and 8".
According to the materials - the soft touch keyboard case, I didn’t like it, because. although it is pleasant to the touch, greasy prints remain on it. The keys themselves and the touchpad area are made of hard, rough plastic.

Now let's talk about the operation of the keyboard and touchpad. In order to turn it on, move the slider in the upper right corner to the ON position. Next, press the connect button, while the blue indicator with the bluetooth icon starts flashing. Next, in the tablet, we look for new bluetooth devices, find the keyboard, click on it. Further, a slightly unusual solution, at least this is the first time I see this, although the bluetooth device is not my first - a window appears with a digital code and a request to type this code on the keyboard and press Enter. We do as it is told, starts to work, the mouse pointer appears.
When you turn off the keyboard to the Off position and then turn it on, the tablet picks it up automatically. For typing on the tablet I use the program, it allows you to hide the software keyboard when connecting the hardware one, which is convenient for me. There may be other similar software, but I didn’t really look for it. I note that the old version of the program is in the market, the newer one is on w3bsit3-dns.com, the old one does not hide the software from the screen.
The keys are pressed easily and clearly, nothing special.
The touchpad works. True, at first it seemed to me that the mouse was moving too slowly, because. on a stationary computer, a mouse with a high dpi. The touchpad has multi-touch, at least 2 touches were detected by me, swiping with two fingers from top to bottom or from bottom to top in the browser turns out to scroll.
The touchpad has one interesting detail, its lower part is pressed with a characteristic click. A single press acts just like a tap, which is already there. If you press and hold in the lower left corner of the touchpad, then with the second finger you can scroll on the touchpad in the browser, If you press and hold in the lower right corner of the touchpad, you can select text with the second finger. Perhaps there are other combinations, but I did not find.
The touchpad is turned on and off with the key located between the right Alt and the arrows.
The keys combined with Fn in Android work as they should. The seller claims that the keyboard can also work with IOS and Windows, there is no way to check this.

In general, this keyboard suited me more than completely.
Pros:
+ can be used as a tablet stand
+ 6 rows of keys
+ Stable
+ quickly connects via Bluetooth

Minuses:
- easily soiled body material

The best keyboard for work

Das Keyboard 4 Professional

Great Features

Robust, well built, tall buttons, tactile feedback makes typing a pleasure. Available with Cherry MX Blue, Brown switches.

Built-in hub supports USB 3.0, dedicated multimedia keys.

The lack of backlighting at this price seems like an unfair oversight.

Since 2005, Das Keyboard has paved the way for mechanical keyboard enthusiasts. Their latest device, the Das Keyboard 4 Professional, came out in 2014, and despite a number of new features and additions, the keyboard remains true to its roots in terms of aesthetics and 104-key layout. The shape and design of the Das Keyboard 4 Professional is similar to its predecessor, but there is a media hub located in the upper right corner, with a large volume control and dedicated buttons for play, next and previous track, mute and unmute.

Das has also upgraded the built-in USB hub to USB 3.0, with two ports located on the rear right edge above the logo. This includes additional perks. As usual, Das's minimalist approach to providing input means that this keyboard doesn't have the bells and whistles you'll find on many similarly priced devices. No macros, no way to change keystroke speed, no profile or backlight support, no additional software.

The keyboard does away with the glossy plastics that defined the line's look in the past, and instead uses an aluminum top plate that's less prone to finger smudges. She is stronger. It can be purchased with a choice of blue and brown Cherry MX switches. Blue mechanical keys click louder and are triggered by pressing at least 50 grams. Brown switches provide a softer feel and require only 45 grams to actuate.

This is the kind of keyboard that you can be proud to use at work, saying it's the most comfortable and best keyboard to work with - it provides a pleasant typing experience with a professional look. The lack of features will likely turn some off at the current $170 price point, especially with increasingly fierce competition, but then again, while the Das Keyboard 4 may be competent at gaming, it's not designed with demographics in mind.

Worthy of a mention in this category is the Code Keyboard, which is arguably Das' biggest direct competitor, and if you're looking for a more affordable alternative, Cooler Master's QuickFire XT and Rosewill RK-9000V2 are two great options for under $100.

The best gaming keyboard

Corsair Gaming K70 RGB RapidFire Backlit Gaming Keyboard

Great Features

Cherry MX shifters, customizable multi-color LED backlighting for each key looks fantastic. Large, removable, textured wrist rest.

Good | Most have it

Excellent build quality, discreet multimedia keys.

Medium | Competitors could be better

Non-standard sizes on certain keys.

Arguably the best gaming keyboards, the K70 RGB series has quickly become a favorite when we first tried it out a few months ago. The Rapidfire version in particular is geared towards speed through the use of new MX Speed switches that shorten the path to 1.2mm for a fast turn-on speed of 4ms. Coming from a keyboard with a full 2mm of travel to the drive, short Rapidfire switches aren't really necessary, but it could make a difference for gamers who really care about seconds for an edge in games.

Although the main body of the keyboard was made of plastic, there is a thick aluminum plate on the front side, which gives the feeling of an excellent product that will not flex. The K70 RGB Rapidfire has a clean, simple design and looks quite impressive. This is complemented by per-key multi-color LED lighting that is customizable to create different lighting effects (or load pre-designed ones) using the Corsair Utility Engine, where you can also play with reprogrammable keys, create macros, and link games and applications to different keyboard profiles.

In addition to the standard 104-key US layout, there are physical buttons for brightness control, a Windows lock button, media buttons, and a volume scroll wheel that is made of aluminum and feels great to the touch. There's also a large, detachable, textured wrist rest.

Measuring 436mm long, 16mm deep and 38mm thick, Corsair offers a keyboard that fits nicely on a desktop yet is designed for gamers, with fast response times, customizable backlighting that looks amazing, and a fantastic tactile feel for a mechanical keyboard. .

The best wireless keyboard

Logitech K800 Wireless Backlit Keyboard

Great Features

Slim profile, compact design, excellent build quality, smart battery saving features, comfortable typing with minimal noise.

Good | Most have it

Replaceable batteries, charging via micro-USB, multimedia keys, excellent implementation of the backlight.

Medium | Competitors could be better

Feels a little fragile, allows for significant bending.

Indeed, no size fits all when it comes to keyboards, but if you want more freedom and less cable clutter on your desk, the Logitech K800 Backlit Wireless Keyboard is a top contender that strikes a nice balance of comfort, size and features. The keyboard itself has a sleek, streamlined design, thin at the front and tapering towards the back, giving it a wedge shape that allows it to stand upright when not in use to save space - not quite the quality you're looking for in a keyboard, but might come in handy for people with limited space in the workplace. The part directly on the outside of the keys has a glossy black plastic finish, and there's also an ergonomic palm rest to help you type comfortably.

As the name suggests, this is a backlit keyboard, but Logitech has added a few features to make it stand out. The first of these are sensors that control the brightness level in response to ambient light - you can however manually adjust it to your liking. The other is a motion sensor that turns on the backlight when your hands are in close proximity and slowly turns it off when your hands leave the touch area to conserve battery life.

The K800 has a typical keyboard layout with a full-sized keyboard and a set of function keys. Typing on keys done using the keyboard is a complete comfortable experience and shows no signs of lagging behind its 2.4GHz RF connection. The keystrokes have a good balance between hardness and softness, and compared to other keyboards, the K800 is significantly less loud.

The keyboard will stay charged for about 10 days with the included AA NiMh batteries, which can be charged via a micro-USB cable, or you can replace them with your own. The K800 can also be turned on and off using the switch located on the keyboard to conserve battery power and extend the time between charges.

Ultimately, keyboard feel comes down to personal preference, but the Logitech Wireless Keyboard K800 is one of the most popular wireless keyboards for desktops.

The best HTPC keyboard

Keyboard with backlit keys Logitech Keyboard K830

Great Features

Sleek design, great touchpad. Backlit keys automatically dim after five seconds of inactivity to avoid distractions. Long life internal USB battery.

Good | Most have it

Good wireless range, built-in media keys.

Medium | Competitors could be better

A little pricey.

If you want a wireless touchpad keyboard built specifically for your bed, you'll want an integrated pointing device in a living room-friendly size, and ideally something that's still useful after you've turned off the lights. The Logitech K830 Backlit Living Room Keyboard fits the bill with a sleek and compact design and keys that light up only when needed.

It's a full-sized keyboard with a built-in touchpad, left and right mouse buttons, and three hot keys for volume control (mute, volume down, volume up).

While its low-profile keys provide a decent feature set, the Logitech K830 is designed primarily for home entertainment. Its standout feature is a backlight system that automatically adapts to ambient light and fades out as you actively use it. This not only saves battery life, but also allows you to fully focus on your movie without bright keys shining in your face.

The top row of keys has additional functions for useful tasks such as closing windows, showing the desktop, searching, and playing/pausing media files. They are all reprogrammable with the accompanying Logitech software.

At around $85, our only complaint about the K830 is that it's a bit pricey for a living room keyboard. Especially when there's a great alternative, like Logitech's Wireless Touch K400 Plus. It may not have many bells and whistles, but it's a great alternative for just $35. It doesn't have a backlight or USB charging, instead two AA batteries, but it's light and agile enough to comfortably use on your lap while lying on the couch.

Best Bluetooth Keyboard

Logitech K380 Bluetooth Keyboard for Multiple Devices

Great Features

Excellent battery life, portable, convenient to type. Cheap.

Good | Most have it

Can switch between three Bluetooth-enabled devices and play almost any platform.

Medium | Competitors could be better

There is no backlight.

If you use different devices every day and want everyone to have a serial interface for typing, then the Logitech K380 is not only an amazing keyboard, but also a fairly inexpensive one. This handy compact keyboard can switch between up to three Bluetooth-enabled devices and pairs well with iOS, Android, Windows, OS X and Chrome OS.

The Logitech K380 is comfortable and responsive enough for most typing requirements with good signal times and pleasing audio feedback, but it's not loud enough to disturb other people in the same room. It has round keys that might look unusual at first, but it doesn't take too long to get used to, and there's good spacing between them to keep typos to a minimum.

The layout looks a little confusing at first - given its size, Logitech has basically ditched the home and end buttons, while insert has become a function and delete is a small key above backspace. We wouldn't recommend using the Logitech K380 as your primary PC keyboard - unless typing on multiple mobile devices is a significant part of your daily typing - but it's good enough to stay on your desk as a secondary device or in your living room. It's also lightweight and compact enough to fit into your bag.

Pairing with a new device is quite simple, you just need to hold down one of the three yellow buttons on the keyboard until its indicator starts flashing. After connecting three devices, you can switch between them with a single keystroke.

There is a range of Android keys including the home button, recent apps, menu and back, and media controls. The K380 will map the keys accordingly depending on which device it is paired with. For example, the home page opens a new Chrome window on Chrome OS, recent applications are mostly alt+tab, and the menu key opens a context menu on Windows.

One area where the K380 really shines is in battery life. The K380 runs on two included AAA batteries, and Logitech claims it will last a full two years of heavy use. It doesn't have backlit keys, but that's a compromise you make for such exceptional battery life.

Some alternatives include Logitech's own K480 remote with a docking station for your devices, but most reviewers find the K380 more comfortable to type on, while the K810/K811 adds backlighting, superior build quality, and a rechargeable built-in battery - but costs in three times more.

Best budget keyboard

Microsoft Wired Desktop 600

Great Features

Solid build quality, spill-resistant, no-frills solid keyboard.

Good | Most have it

Dedicated media keys.

Medium | Competitors could be better

We would have preferred to buy it for less without the included mouse.

If you're just looking for a basic keyboard, you'll be hard pressed to find something as durable as Microsoft's Wired Desktop 600. It's been out for a long time and we've seen it bundled with many PC systems over the years, but that's far from a bad thing, it just means it has a proven design that can stand the test of time.

The keyboard itself is concave in shape with the spacebar and number keys taller than the strings of letters. The keys are easy to press with little effort for a comfortable and relaxed typing experience. There are dedicated media buttons for play/pause, volume up, volume down and mute, a full range of function keys, and a calculator hotkey.

This wired keyboard is designed to withstand accidental spills and is ready to go right out of the box - just plug and play, no software to install.

Microsoft Wired Desktop can be found online for about $23, and comes with a basic dual-control optical mouse. If you're looking for a cheap but reliable full-sized keyboard, don't care about low-profile keys, and don't like changing batteries in wireless devices, this is your keyboard.
