Complete set Kia Sportage 3 restyling. We are looking for changes in the restyled Kia Sportage. Configuration and cost

After restyling, the dimensions of the KIA Sportage III remained the same. Body length is 4400 mm, width - 1855 mm, height - 1630 mm (1640 mm with rails). The wheelbase is 2640 mm. The clearance of the updated Kia Sportage is 167 mm for versions with 17-inch wheels and 172 mm for versions equipped with 18-inch wheels. The curb weight of the car varies from 1980 to 2140 kg (depending on the modification). The volume of the luggage compartment is 564 liters. When the rear seat backs are folded down, this figure rises to 1,355 liters. The volume of the fuel tank is 58 liters.

The layout of the Kia Sportage chassis has not changed during the restyling. As before, the front suspension is independent, spring, MacPherson type, with an anti-roll bar; rear suspension - independent, lever-spring, with telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers. Regardless of the configuration, the updated third-generation Kia Sportage was equipped with High Performance Dampers adaptive shock absorbers. All wheels have disc brakes, while the front is ventilated. The braking system is supplemented by ABS, EBD and ESS systems. The steering is rack and pinion with an electric amplifier. Drive type - front or all-round, based on a Dynamax electro-hydraulically controlled multi-plate clutch installed in front of the rear axle differential.

In Russia, the third-generation Kia Sportage crossover was offered with one gasoline engine and two diesel power plants. In tandem with the motors, a 5- and 6-speed "mechanics" or a 6-speed "automatic" works. It:

2.0-liter 4-cylinder petrol unit with 16-valve timing and multipoint fuel injection system, complying with the Euro-4 environmental standard. Power - 150 hp, torque - 191 Nm. Depending on the type of transmission and drive, the dynamics of acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h varies from 10.7 to 11.7 seconds. The maximum speed is 185 (175) km / h. Combined fuel consumption is 8.4 (8.5) liters per 100 kilometers.
... 2.0-liter four-cylinder CRDi diesel engine with 126 hp. with a torque of 373 Nm. The acceleration time from zero to hundred is 11.2 (12.1) seconds, and the maximum speed is 181 (182) km / h. For every hundred kilometers of travel, the power unit consumes 6.8 (6.9) liters of diesel fuel.

2.0-liter 4-cylinder CRDi diesel developing 184 hp. power and 392 Nm of torque. This engine was combined only with an automatic transmission and a 4WD all-wheel drive system. The maximum speed of the restyled KIA Sportage III with 184-horsepower engine is 195 km / h, and the acceleration time from zero to 100 km / h is 9.8 seconds. In the combined cycle, the engine consumes 6.9 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.

The updated third-generation Kia Sportage was offered in Russia in five trim levels: Classic, Comfort, Luxe, Prestige and Premium. The compact SUV's basic equipment list included 17-inch alloy wheels, front airbags, full-size spare wheel, alarm, rain sensors, height-adjustable steering wheel, 6-speaker audio system with CD / MP3 / USB / AUX support, fabric interior , air conditioning, gear selector and leather steering wheel. Optionally, the equipment list can be supplemented with an intelligent parallel parking system, aluminum door sills, 18-inch wheels, electrically folding exterior mirrors and a reversing camera. In addition, separate climate control, xenon headlights, cruise control, leather upholstery and an electrically operated panoramic sunroof were offered as an option.

The compact crossover Kia Sportage of the third generation has reliable and durable engines that are quite sensitive to fuel quality. The car has good handling, maneuverability, directional stability and a reliable braking system. During the operation of the Sportage, claims are caused by a rather stiff suspension, not too spacious interior, cheap interior materials, anti-corrosion protection of the body and the quality of the paintwork. In addition, there is a frequent failure of rear suspension springs and squeaks of suspension elements, as well as high fuel consumption, which does not correspond to the manufacturer's declared data.

The third generation of the Korean crossover Kia Sportage has finally experienced its first restyling. True, the updates turned out to be more point-like than global ones. The stock of popularity and modernity of "Sportage" so far clearly allows you to do without cardinal changes, because he is only 4 years old.

Kia Sportage finished last year in third place in its class in Russia, yielding the previous second place only to the completely new Toyota RAV4. It would seem that what else can be improved in this bestseller, if only not to erase and paint it again - from the design, one of the most cocky in the class, to the "drive" driver's "cockpit"? It is clear that the Koreans did not seriously redesign an already more than successful car, but they nevertheless introduced some improvements.

So, less massive trim panels were installed on the windshield pillars from the inside in order to slightly expand the view. It seems that it has become better, however, in the corners, wide pillars still noticeably block the sector of visibility, and those who like to sit higher in the field of vision will also get the side edge of the roof, and the ceiling is already close to the crown.

The more than successful and original design of the current Kia Sportage is even scary to touch! So the Koreans did not dare to make serious changes, limiting themselves only to the new radiator grille, wheel disks, LED taillights and the "fin" of the antenna of the navigator and radio receiver. And in the new generation of the model, expected in 2-3 years, the designers seem to have to jump over their heads at all!

But you can get used to this, especially since everything else is still quite convenient: there are no complaints about the mirrors, and on a fine day, visors with a retractable extension cord help to hide from the sunlight. In addition, for lovers of sunbathing and skies overhead, a two-piece glass roof with curtains is still available.

With the fit, everything seems comfortable at first. And the chair fits well, and on the door panel there is a soft cushion just so that the elbow is comfortable to put on the road, and it seems that it does not press anywhere ... But when you start "digging into" the little things, you see that only the driver still has an automatic window regulator ... The electric drive of the seat is also only for the "pilot", and the lumbar support is still mechanical and you have to reach for the sidewall of the backrest before its handle. Well, there is nothing to do, we are waiting for the new generation of Sportage: there, they say, the equipment can be richer.

The interior is, in fact, the same, but the finishing materials are now of better quality and "more expensive" to the touch, illumination of cup holders and a new tray for change in the central armrest box have been added. The new heated steering wheel function is standard on all versions, except for the cheapest petrol engine and front-wheel drive. Although even it already has air conditioning and servo drives for front and rear windows.

But the steering wheel is now heated! In our climate - a real gift included in the "Warm Options" package together with heating for both rows of seats, mirrors and the wiper parking area. And the fat "donut" itself is still good both in form and in "holding". So it begs in hand! On my own I would grumble only about two points: the overhang adjustment is a bit short, and the skin on the rim is rather slippery even with gloves.

What's new under the hood? The first one I get is the Sportage with the most powerful 2-liter turbodiesel with 184 hp. paired with a 6-speed "automatic" and four-wheel drive. The engine itself is the same as on the pre-styling model, but if earlier it was installed only on the top-end Premium configuration, now it is also offered for the more affordable Luxe and Prestige versions.

And the diesel is still the same fighting! With it, the Sportage weighing 1.7 tons is a kind of runner in the family: acceleration to "hundreds" takes only 9.8 seconds (with a 136-horsepower diesel engine - in 12.1 seconds). Almost 400 Nm of torque briskly dragged the crossover along the bends of Slovenian serpentines and there was no need to complain about the lack of traction during "merry starts" along long climbs. And all would be fine, but what knocks down the agility of the 184-horsepower diesel engine is the old 6-speed "automatic". No, there are no questions about the smoothness of gear changes. But the unit is clearly "dull"! After restyling, the sport mode never appeared in the box (it is promised in the future), and its "stimulating" effect is often not enough when the automatic transmission starts to "slow down" in response to active trampling on the gas pedal. If you want to joke, then you have to regularly push the "trigger" before the kick-down is triggered in order to somehow spur the box. Because without a "kick", the delays in the transition to lower stages reach up to several seconds.

The main changes in the interior of the restyled Sportage are a new and more visual instrument scale with an enlarged display.

By the way, a chassis with independent suspensions can withstand a more powerful engine: on twisted mountain roads, the Sportage is very reckless for a crossover! It would seem that the body is set high, but the rolls in turns are moderate, there is no frightening roll, but there is a feeling of tenacity and stability, both on a straight line and on an arc. The electric power steering wheel, although somewhat "wadded" in the near-zero zone, is still quite informative and understandable for such a car, easy to park and clearly weighty at speed. The sharpness of the control on the hot spring asphalt was partly concealed by the soft, non-studded winter tires of the test cars.

But what I did not fully understand was the introduction of the Flex Steer electric amplifier with the Comfort, Normal and Sport options on the restyled crossovers - the difference between them is small and looks more like a marketing gimmick. However, despite some nuances, Sportage still provokes with its behavior. As a result, my colleague and I fired up the serpentines on a diesel crossover to the point of smoke from brand new brakes! They are, by the way, excellent at "Sportage": powerful, stubbornly holding the grip even after a series of active braking, with an informative and short-travel drive.

The convenience of the location of buttons and knobs (especially the "climate" control unit) in the Sportage is practically exemplary - everything is at hand, in places and is clearly visible. By the way, a mini-iPad fits perfectly onto the center console - in an upright position it is securely "wedged" between the gearbox selector pad and the "multimedia" screen.

The next in line is a family-like calm 2-liter gasoline engine. Yes, after a turbodiesel you can’t swear so briskly with it - it’s better for active drivers not to even look in its direction, and they obviously don’t look, given that the bulk of "Sportages" in Russia are sold with gasoline engines. And there was no surprise, it was all expected. The engine itself, although new, but the power (150 hp) remained the same, and the torque even decreased from 197 to 191 Nm. At the same time, an all-wheel drive crossover with such a motor weighs 1.6 tons and takes a long 11.7 seconds to reach the line of 100 km / h.

Compared to a diesel engine, the 6-speed "automatic" here reacts to gas more lively. But the stock of traction is already frankly not enough: the gasoline engine climbs hard from the "bottom", reluctantly gaining momentum even with the accelerator "in the floor". In the city, in general, there is enough of it, the unit itself works muffled, but for dynamic driving (especially in the mountains) and overtaking on the highway, it will have to be twisted, periodically spurring it with a kick-down mode in the box. Fuel consumption? On serpentines with gas, we did not stand on ceremony, at times we twisted from the heart, but in the end it turned out quite acceptable 12 l / 100 km. The spread in the appetite of a diesel engine in the mountains turned out to be a little more - from 10.6 to 13 l / 100 km.

In the back row, everything is just as spacious and you can recline the seat back. But still there are no air ducts in the legs, and getting out of the back row through a narrow opening with a wide threshold, you can easily wipe the wheel arch with a pant leg.

But in what both diesel and gasoline Sportage are similar, it is in their behavior on bad roads and dirt roads. In the independent suspensions of all trim levels of the restyled crossover, new shock absorbers with additional dampers appeared, somewhat softening the passage of large pits at medium speeds. But the general and far from the softest nature of the move has not changed. I ran out of smooth asphalt - and, as if on a rubber ball, I galloped on. It seems that the suspension also neutralizes the road "trifle" properly, and copes with average defects.

But as soon as larger and more frequent irregularities went under the wheels - and that was all, there was a shaking and a dance. Here it is, the reckoning of comfort for the "sportiness" of habits on the asphalt! On a chipped surface and primers, you can already feel how the short-travel lightweight suspension (especially the rear) periodically "gestures", echoing with blows to the body on large pits and transverse gullies, and often works almost to the limit. So, bumps from irregularities are already beginning to break through on the steering wheel, and when braking from a good move, knocks and some kind of general laxity in character appear in the steering mechanism on bumps and stones. In a word, the focus on roads, and not directions, has not changed for the Sportage. As well as the ground clearance, by the way: on 18-inch wheels it is still "passenger" 172 mm ...

Due to its compact base and short body overhangs, the Sportage does not fail in front of steep slopes. Suspension moves during diagonal hanging are expected to be "none", but an electronic imitation of interwheel locks will help to get out of this situation. The rear axle is still connected by a multi-plate clutch, which can be locked with a button. But most of the Sportage in Russia is sold with front-wheel drive.

And yet, despite all these roughnesses, there is no doubt that the updated Sportage will remain a bestseller. Indeed, he still has the same cocky and bright appearance, a rather driving driving character and not boring, "youth" interior design. But now you have to pay more for it. For the most running, basic version of a crossover with a gasoline engine and front-wheel drive, they now ask for from 910,000 rubles for a 6-speed "mechanics" (rise in price by 20,000 rubles) and from 980,000 rubles for a 6-band automatic (increased in price by 40,000 rubles) ...

The most affordable all-wheel drive petrol version received a 6-speed manual gearbox instead of the "five-step", but it has risen in price by 40,000 at once - up to 1,110,000 rubles. For a two-pedal model, the price now starts from 1,160,000 rubles (+ 40,000).

Diesel engines are still offered only with all-wheel drive and automatic transmission, but the basic 136-horsepower unit is now available only in the Comfort starter configuration at a price of 1,160,000 rubles. The rest of the versions (Luxe, Prestige and Premium) are now available only with a top-end 184-horsepower diesel engine at a price of 1,260,000 rubles, whereas before with an amount of less than 1,400,000 rubles it was impossible to approach it.

In 2014, Kia carried out a facelift of the third generation Sportage model. The changes affected the front bumper with a new radiator grille and fog lights. The optics have also undergone improvements: now the headlights use the LED strips that are popular today. The rear end remains virtually unmodified, apart from the updated side lights. Included were updated alloy wheels with a sporty design. In the cabin, only the finishing materials were modernized for the better. The compact crossover has not received an updated line of motors. According to statistics, one of the leading positions among the compact crossovers class cars is occupied by the Korean model Kia Sportage. The last third generation was released in 2010. This year has been restyled for this model.

As the designers themselves said, the new 2014 Kia Sportage is just a slightly modified version of the third generation crossover, since no significant structural intervention was required. Let's review the 2014 Kia Sportage, note the changes made and how they affected the car.

Appearance

Externally, there are practically no differences from the pre-styling model. Sportage Kia 2014 has slightly changed the size of the radiator grille, but did not change the shape. The headlights have got running lights using LED strips. But the fog lights installed on the bumper have radically changed their shape. The bumper itself was left unchanged.

At the rear, the only update was the installation of LED lights. And in addition, a choice of several rims with different patterns was added. The rest of the car after the update is no different from the version before the update.

The overall dimensions of the restyled model are shown below. The only one where the clearance with standard wheels is indicated for the Kia Sportage. When installing wheels of a larger diameter on a crossover, the ground clearance increases slightly.

Salon

There are also not many changes in the cabin. The designers changed the quality of the interior plastic for the better, which made the interior decoration better and richer in appearance.

Several have distributed the position of information devices on the dashboard. The large central well, which was on the models before the restyling, has been removed. Instead, two small wells now appeared on the sides, and an information display of the so-called on-board computer was placed in the center.

Almost all cars are equipped with a powerful audio system, which includes a radio tape recorder, 6 speakers and an external subwoofer. Only the top-end configurations have a multimedia system equipped with a touch screen, which can be controlled using the multifunction buttons, but the number of speakers has not been increased.

As with the audio system, only in the maximum trim levels the climate in the cabin is provided with dual-zone climate control, while air conditioning is installed in most cars.

An additional Warm package is also available for most configurations. When installed, the car is equipped with heated seats and steering wheel, heated windshield and heated outside mirrors.

We took into account the designers and the wishes of the owners of the pre-styling model about a somewhat noisy interior. They corrected this problem with more improved performance of the cabin soundproofing. Another attempt to heed the opinion of users was to reduce the thickness of the A-pillars to increase visibility, which was lacking in the previous model. How much they succeeded will be indicated only by the test drive carried out on the Kia Sportage 2014.

Engines, gearboxes, drive

The novelty goes on sale with one gasoline and two diesel engines. Moreover, they all have the same working volume - 2.0 liters. True, diesel units have different forcing. The first of them is the weakest of the entire line, its power is 136 hp. The second is equipped with a better turbocharging system, which provides it with 184 hp at the output. The only gasoline engine is capable of delivering 150 hp.

Also, the crossover is aggregated by two gearboxes. Both are 6-speed, but one is mechanical, the other is automatic.

Cars with a petrol unit can be equipped with front or all-wheel drive. For diesel units, only four-wheel drive is available. The given Kia Sportage specifications and indicators are shown below.
