Download the mega app for PC. Cloud file hosting MEGA. Sharing file folders

Mega.co is a cloud storage that offers its users 50 GB of storage space for free. Such an offer sounds tempting, doesn't it?

For many, such a significant addition to the hard drive will not hurt. All data placed in Mega.co cloud storage is stored in encrypted form.

After the largest file hosting service Megaupload was closed by the decision of the US authorities in 2012, its founder Kim Dotcom launched a new cloud service for storing files on the Internet.

The founder of Megaupload fled from the persecution of US law in New Zealand. Exactly one year after the closure of the popular file hosting service, which was used by more than 160 million users from all over the world, a new project was launched: Mega cloud file storage.

Over time, the MEGA service was bought by investors from China.

Mega storage features

The main difference between Mega.co cloud storage and similar resources is that at the moment, cloud storage offers registered users 50 GB of disk space for free to store their files. Mega co nz has no limits on the size of files uploaded to the storage.

The MEGA service name stands for "MEGA Encrypted Global Access" (MEGA Encrypted Global Access).

Cloud storage allows you to upload files to the server, store them there, and share files with other users. During the download process, the files are encrypted in the browser using the AES algorithm, which ensures their protection from unauthorized access.

Physically, the files are stored in the cloud storage in encrypted form, the administration of the cloud service does not have access to them.

File sharing service Mega has support for many languages, including Russian. To start using cloud storage, you will need to register in it.

Mega.nz

Registration in MEGA

After entering the site https://mega.nz/ via a secure connection, on the main page of the service, on the top panel, you need to select the Russian language for more convenient use of the storage.

Then you need to click on the "Register" button on the top panel of the service window. In the appropriate fields, enter your data (not necessarily real, some login will do), enter your email address (real), and then choose a password to enter the cloud file storage.

After checking the box opposite the item on agreeing to the provision of the services of this service, you will need to click on the "Register" button to complete the registration procedure in the Mega co cloud storage.

After that, you will need to enter your e-mail box specified during registration, open an email from Tim MEGA. and then follow the link to complete the registration process in the vault. You will need to enter the data specified during registration and enter the cloud file storage.

How to use Mega.nz

After starting the repository, the File Manager menu window opens in front of you. At the very top is the menu bar, and below is the area for working with downloaded folders and files. On the right is a column for managing and displaying the storage structure.

Mozilla Firefox browser users are requested to install the MEGA EXTENSION add-on. Without installing add-ons, developers recommend using the Google Chrome browser. Since my main browser is Firefox, I installed the recommended extension for my browser.

The difference in using the service specifically in the Google Chrome browser is that, unlike other browsers, using Google Chrome, it will be possible to upload not only files, but also entire folders to Mega.co cloud storage.

This is what the storage control panel looks like in the Mozilla Firefox browser. On the panel there is a button "New download". Using the "New upload" button, files are uploaded to the cloud storage.

In the Google Chrome browser on the panel there are two buttons "Upload file" and "Upload folder". Using the "Upload file" button, you can upload a file to the cloud storage from your computer. After clicking on the "Upload folder" button, the Explorer window opens, in which you need to select a folder to upload it to the file storage.

To get around this, users of other browsers can create a folder in Mega with exactly the same name as the folder on the computer that needs to be uploaded to the repository. You then need to open the folder on your computer and upload its contents to the newly created folder in your file storage. Thus, the desired folder will be fully loaded into Mega.

In the My Account menu bar, you can view your status, how much storage space is being used, and set up data transfers.

Here you can change the number of concurrent connections per download and the number of concurrent connections per download. If you need it, then you can set a limit on the download speed.

After clicking on the Pro Membership menu button, you can choose a paid package to store more of your files from 500 GB to 4 TB.

If you click on the menu button "Menu", you can learn more about the rules for using Mega.co cloud storage.

You can create a new folder by clicking the New Folder button. In the newly created folder, you can upload files, as well as create other new folders in this folder. After clicking on the folder with the right mouse button, in the context menu you can select the appropriate commands for further actions with the folder.

To upload files to the Mega.co file storage, you need to click on the “Upload File” button in the Google Chrome browser, and on the other browsers, click on the “New Upload” button. In the Explorer window that opens, select a file or several files at once to upload to the cloud storage.

File download speed is unlimited unless you have limited it in the service settings, and it depends on the speed of your computer's Internet connection. You can move the files uploaded to the cloud storage, rename them, share them, get links to them, copy or delete them.

You can watch the process of uploading and downloading files at the bottom of the service window.

Working with files in MEGA occurs through a web interface. Clients for PC and other devices have not yet been released.

Sharing folders in MEGA

Folders stored in the Mega nz cloud service can be shared. To do this, right-click on the folder, and in the context menu, click on the "Sharing" item. This will open the Sharing window where you can give the new user permissions to share this folder.

You will need to enter the user's email address and select the rights for the new user to share the folder hosted in your cloud storage. You can grant another user the following rights: Read-Only, Read-Write, Full Control.

An email will be sent to the user's email address with a link that he will need to follow in order to gain access to the corresponding folder located in the Mega cloud file storage. Shared folders look slightly different from other cloud storage folders.

How to get a link in Mega.nz

In order to provide other users with a link to download a file in the Mega cloud data storage, you need to right-click on the file and select the "Get link" item in the context menu.

Otherwise, only the user who received the link to the file and a special security code will be able to download the encrypted file. Without a security code, it will be impossible to download a file from a link of this kind.

In this image, two items "File Link" and "File Key" are activated. In this case, when clicking on a link of this type, any user on the Internet who has access to this link will be able to download this file.

The user can save the file in their own Mega.co storage by clicking on the "Import" button. In this case, the file will be imported from one storage to another, without downloading the file to the computer. It will be possible to import files if the user has his own storage on the Mega.co service.

After clicking on the link, in a new window the user will have to enter the security key received from you to download the file, or to save it in their file storage. After entering the key, the user will need to click on the "Download" button and activate the item "I agree with the terms of service of MEGA".

In order to get a security key for the downloaded file, after copying the link to the file, you need to activate the "File Key" button, other buttons should be inactive at this time. You will need to provide the file key to the other user along with a link to download the file.

After clicking on the link received from you, in the Mega.co cloud service window, the user will have to enter the security key received from you. After entering the file key, you will need to agree to the MEGA terms of service, and then click on the "Download" button.

When you click on the "Import file" button, it will be saved in the user's cloud storage if this user has his own account in the Mega co cloud storage.

Next, the "Download completed" window will open, in which the user is prompted to save the file manually to complete the download. To do this, in the "Download Complete" window, click on the "Save File" button, and in the Explorer window that opens, you must select the location to save the downloaded file, give the file a name, and then click on the "Save" button.

After that, the file will be saved on your computer.

Other items "File name" and "File size" in the "Links" window do not matter much for downloading files and contain reference information about the downloaded file.

Due to the fact that the files hosted on the cloud storage service are encrypted, you will not be able to view, play or listen to them while they are in the cloud storage. To completely delete files from the cloud storage, you will need to empty the Recycle Bin.

Article Conclusions

Mega co cloud storage allows you to store data with a total volume of 50 GB on its servers for free. Files are stored in the cloud storage in encrypted form, and most importantly, all this storage space is provided for free.

Mega Cloud Storage - Free 50GB Storage (Video)

I am sure that all active Internet users have heard about the history of the closure of the popular Megaupload file sharing service and the misadventures of its creator. And they certainly know about Kim Dotcom's new project called Mega. We remind you that this service is the reincarnation of Kim's previous creation, but on a completely different platform.

When creating it, all the shortcomings and errors of Megaupload were taken into account and the emphasis was placed primarily on the stability of the file sharing service. And not only to network loads, but also to attacks by copyright holders. For this, great attention is paid to the privacy and security of your data. All files you upload are encrypted with a special algorithm, so the administration of the service has no idea about the contents of your accounts and, accordingly, cannot be held responsible for it. For the same purpose, Mega servers are located in different countries, so if there are problems with the laws in one country, this will not lead to the collapse of the entire service and your data will remain intact.

Today we want to introduce you to the work of this service and offer you a small screenshot tour of its functions.

To get started, you need to register. To do this, you need to provide your name, email address and password. The service is well Russified and well designed.

After registration is complete, you will be sent a login link to the email address you provided. By clicking on the link, you will have to wait a couple of minutes until special secret keys are generated for you, with which data will be encrypted.

We get into our cloud storage. Everything is clear and simple here: on the left is the folder tree, in the center is the file display area, on top is the toolbar. Files can be downloaded by clicking on the button New download or by simply dragging and dropping into the service window. Downloads are exceptionally fast.

Files can be organized into folders. Moving files between folders is done by dragging or using the context menu (see below). The nesting level of directories is unlimited.

A pop-up window will generate a link to download the file.
Pay attention to the options at the top of this window. If only enabled File link, then your recipient will not be able to download the file without entering a special password, which you can send him separately by e-mail. In this way, you can post download links in public places, such as a blog or forum, but only allow certain people to download.
If additionally marked File Key, then anyone can download the file using the created link. Checkboxes Name and file size add the appropriate characteristics of the file.

The folder context menu is slightly different. There is an item here Sharing. With it, you can invite your employees, friends or family to share. Invitations are sent by email, and access can be at different levels. Read only - view only, Read & Write- view and upload your files to a folder, Full access- viewing, downloading and deleting files.

In chapter Account you can view the fullness of your storage, buy additional space, change data transfer settings and some other options.

Some personal impressions

File sharing service Mega makes a mega impression. Excellent speed, clear and pleasant interface, 50 gigabytes of disk space, no restrictions on traffic and size of uploaded files, plus complete free and privacy of your data. It's just a holiday!

The capabilities of the Mega service can be used for a variety of purposes. First of all, this is the dissemination of various types of information, which will greatly please pirates of all continents. However, the possibilities of limited access by passwords can also be useful for the legal sale of their creations, for example, by musicians. Folder sharing makes Mega an interesting tool for organizing remote work. And of course, a banal backup of important information for you.

The only thing missing from Mega at this stage is a desktop and mobile client for different operating systems. Given the young age of the service, one can have hope that the developers simply have not had time yet and that such a client will appear soon. After that, I see no obstacles for Mega to become the new standard for cloud file storage.

Remember the times when 40 GB on your computer's hard drive seemed like an unaffordable luxury? Now the bill goes into hundreds of gigabytes, and often terabytes, and we are so used to it that we take up space on PC disks indiscriminately - with anything.

Meanwhile, no one has yet canceled savings and comfort, and the existence, prosperity and bright prospects of cloud storage prove their viability. Over the past few years, the services of such Internet services have been developing with giant strides, and several cloud data storages can be cited as an example:

1. Yandex.Disk - offers beginners 5 GB of free space for storing files of different formats and extensions, plus various bonuses. For example, if you have been using Yandex mail for 5 years, you will be given another 2 GB of disk space.
2. Google Drive - free 15 GB of space.
3. Microsoft SkyDrive - 7 GB free instead of 25 GB previously offered.
4. - 2 GB plus disk space expansion for attracting referrals.
5. Apple iCloud - 5 free gigabytes of space.
6. - here you can borrow no more than 40 MB for each note for free, and use the amount of traffic for writing / editing notes up to 60 MB per month.
7. Amazon Google Drive - 5 GB.
8. Cloud service Box - 5 GB.
9. SugarSync service - 5 GB.
10. Cloud storage Mega.co.nz - 50 GB of free disk space.

Cloud storage Mega.co.nz

All of the above services can work not only on stationary PCs, but also on all mobile applications, which undoubtedly expands the scope of their application and increases their popularity. But the leader in terms of offered free gigabytes is still Mega.co.nz - 50 GB is not a joke, they still need to be filled with something, so I propose to talk more about this cloud service - Mega.co.nz. By the way, I actively use this service, as it is stable, anonymous, and its creators are well-known people.

The head of the company that offers the services of this storage - Kim Dotcom, founder of the Megaupload service, which closed two years ago at the suggestion of the Department of Justice and the FBI of America. You may remember that story. Actually, their old exchanger was quite a convenient thing. But now Kim's new brainchild has become even cooler. Let's talk about it in more detail.

Now the Mega service provides not only the usual storage of data in the cloud using a PC, but, as the developers promised earlier, they have already included the ability to work from mobile devices - iPhone, iPad, devices on, Win 8, mount the file system for Windows, and etc. That is, it will be possible to send files directly to the cloud. For example, your photos from your smartphone will be stored in the gadget, but will also be transferred to Mega.co.nz at the same time, so the possibility of unexpected loss or damage to files will be completely excluded. All your data is encrypted during transmission, and no one except you can unpack it for reading.

Advantages and differences of Mega

1. The main feature and difference of the Mega.co.nz cloud service from similar resources is the offered initial free disk space of 50 GB. At Mega.co.nz, you can upload files of any size, with any extension, in any format - there are no restrictions on this.

2. The abbreviation MEGA is the name of "MEGA Encrypted Global Access" (MEGA encrypted global access).

3. The main features of Mega are the same as other resources - it is downloading, storing files on a third-party drive, and the ability to share files with your friends and colleagues by transferring links or encrypted access. Files in the browser are encrypted using the AES algorithm, that is, you are protected from unauthorized access. Links for transferring files are also encrypted, and even service workers do not have access to your data. At least they claim it.

4. The service for the exchange and storage of files Mega is multilingual, so when working with it you will not have any language difficulties - just select the desired language in the control panel.

But to start using cloud storage, you need to go through a simple registration procedure.

Registration and getting started in Mega.co.nz

As you can see from the registration link, the entrance to the site https://mega.co.nz/ takes place over a secure connection. Further on the main page, you need to select the Russian language for convenient work - the menu is located at the top right. Now you can register:

When registering, you need a real email address, the rest of the data can simply be taken from your head. After we fill in all the fields and click the "Create an account" button, an email will be sent to our mail with a confirmation link for our registration:

Click on this link in the letter and confirm your account on the service page - for this there is a form in the upper right corner, that is, just enter your email address and password. This is done once - then the service will use our browser's cookies. Upon confirmation of registration, we will be asked to create our own individual key, which will determine our authentication. Creating a key is playful in nature, and I even played too hard, skipping the moment when the key had already been created.

The game looks like a ball knocking out the bricks that make up the inscription MEGA. Once you reach 100% on the scale at the top of the screen, the key will be generated:

And after clicking the “Finish” button, go to your page in the Mega.co.nz cloud service:

How to use the Mega.co.nz service

There is a very small difference in using the service when working on and Google Chrome, which I will discuss below. In the meantime - about the general points of control and use. On the right side of your page, you see a control column and a display of the storage structure. At the top - a menu for uploading and viewing files and managing them. That is, in the drop-down menu with already uploaded files, you will see the ability to get a link to the file, the ability to copy it, edit it, etc.

Mozilla Firefox browser users can install an add-on in their browser MEGA extension. The developers of this add-on promise that after installing it, you will notice a significant improvement in the speed of downloading files. This result is provided by batch uploading an unlimited number of files without limiting their size. Each link in the Mega.co.nz service is captured by your MEGA extension application and remains local (JavaScripts are not downloaded from servers). The service provides reliable automatic updates thanks to a cryptographic signature with an encrypted key.

Without installing this add-on, for more efficient work with the Mega service, developers suggest using the Google Chrome browser. Since I use several browsers at once all my computer life, I also installed the recommended extension in Firefox, but, to be honest, I didn’t notice any difference in the work of the cloud service. The application can be installed both from the "Add-ons" of the browser, and from the MEGA service ("Menu" - "Applications" - "Firefox application")

It is better to use the Google Chrome browser if you are going to upload entire folders with files to the cloud - there is no such possibility in Mozilla, and Chrome can upload both files and folders:

This is what the storage control panel looks like in the Google Chrome browser, and in Mozilla Firefox there is simply no “Upload folder” button - there is only the “Upload file” button. Using the "Upload file" button, you can upload a file to the cloud from your personal computer. After you click on the "Upload folder" button in Google Chrome, the Explorer window will open, select a folder in it to upload it to the file storage, and that's it - the download has begun.

Now about how to get around this problem in Firefox. Let's say you want to download an entire folder - do not install a new browser for this! Then you just need to create a folder of the same name in Mega (item "New folder" in the menu), and upload all the files into it (press Ctrl + A to select all at once) that are in the same folder on the computer.

We continue to get acquainted with the service. In the "My Account" section, you will see not only that you are using a free account, but also see your amount of cloud space used, and you can change your profile settings or set up data transfer:

In the settings ("Menu" - "My Account") you can do a lot. For example, change the number of parallel connections for downloading files, as well as the number of parallel connections for downloading files. You can also set a limit on the download speed.

If you click on the menu button "Menu" - "My Account", you can learn more about the rules for using the Mega.co.nz cloud service. I won’t tell you much about the Pro account, since I haven’t used it yet - free 50 GB is enough. But once you click on the "Upgrade Your Status" button in your free account, you can choose any of the paid packages to be able to store more of your data in the cloud - from 500 GB to 96 TB. I personally have such a volume - 96 terabytes - I have a bad idea, but, nevertheless, if you think carefully, you can find application. For example, to back up site databases, etc.

Let's continue about working with files - you can simply create a new folder to upload some thematic files into it. To do this, click on the "New Folder" button and rename the folder as you need. In this new folder, you can also create other subfolders into which you can already upload files. If you click on a folder (file) with the right mouse button, then in the drop-down context menu you can see the corresponding commands for your actions with the folder (file). As you can see, there are many possibilities, including the ability to get a link to transfer to other users. The link will be encrypted.

If you have not limited the file download speed in your cloud settings, then the data download speed will be unlimited, and will depend only on the speed of your PC's Internet connection. Further, work with folders / files is exactly the same as on a regular computer - you can edit them, get links to them, move them, allow them to be shared, copy, etc. The process of uploading and downloading files is displayed on the right at the bottom of the page on the service - click on the icon

How to share folders

The folders that you will store in the Mega co nz cloud storage can be set to share. To do this, simply right-click on the folder, and in the drop-down context menu, click "Sharing". Next, you will see the "Sharing" window, in which you need to specify the email address of the user to whom you want to grant sharing rights. For this user, you can set the rights - for example, set the rights to "Read Only", "Read and Write", "Full Control". The sharing rights can then allow users with the permissions you set to edit the files, or only view them, or only download them. There can be any number of such users.

After we specify the email address for sharing, an email will be sent to his mail with a link that is necessary to go to the service and gain access to the specified folder. Shared folders look slightly different from the rest of the cloud storage folders, and look like this:

How to get a link in Mega.co.nz

The Mega.co.nz service has the ability to provide other users with links to download files that you host on the Mega cloud service. To get such a link, you need to right-click on the file, and in the drop-down context menu, click on the "Get link" menu item. In a new window that opens, you will see your (encrypted or unencrypted) link to download the file. In general, all links to download files in the Mega.co.nz cloud service are issued in two types, and the type of link will depend on the degree of confidentiality of the security keys.

If the link itself is formed in unencrypted form, then the file is transmitted encrypted anyway, and only if the user has followed this link, the file is decrypted and becomes available for download. That is, until someone downloads this file, it will be stored in encrypted form. If the link itself is encrypted, then only the user who received the link to the file along with a special security code (key) will be able to download the file from this link. Without this security code, the recipient will not be able to download the file from the link.

In the image below you can see - if the item "With a file key" is activated, then the encrypted code is embedded in the link itself, and it is available for download to all users. And vice versa - if you do not check this box, then the address user will be able to download the file only if he enters the key that you separately transmitted.

Also, the user to whom the link to the file was intended can save it in their cloud located at Mega.co.nz. To do this, after receiving the link, you need to click the "Import" button. With this option, the link will not be downloaded to the computer, but will simply be moved from one account to another. It is clear that in order to carry out such an operation, it is necessary that the recipient also has his own disk space in the Mega.co.nz cloud, just like, for example, in . You can see all these possibilities in the figure below:

How to download a link with an individual key (second option)? Below in the image you see his solution. In the case of a separately transmitted key, the recipient will be able to download the file if he receives from you both a link and a key to download the file from the cloud storage. You will receive the key itself by copying when transferring the file (in the figure above - the “Copy keys” item). All this data (both the link for sharing and the link with a separate key) you send to the user in a regular email.

After clicking on the "Decrypt" link, in a new window, the user will have to enter the security key received from you to download the file, or to save it in their own cloud storage. After the key is entered, the user must click the "Download" button and check the box "I agree with the MEGA terms of service", or simply import the file to their cloud.

After the file is completely downloaded, the "Download Complete" window will open, and in it the user will be prompted to save the file manually in any convenient place on the computer to complete the download.

And lastly, all files that you will host on the Mega.co.nz cloud storage service will be encrypted - I have already mentioned this above. On the one hand, this is great, but on the other hand, you will not be able to visually view their contents, play or listen to audio and video files while they are in the cloud. That is, in order to use these files, you will need to move them to a computer or mobile device. To completely delete all downloaded files, you need to move them to the trash, and then empty it too.

A program for exchanging data with a cloud container. The service offers 50 gigabytes of storage space for free and has a zero access policy.

What you need to know about Mega Cloud Drive

This is a secure cloud storage that compares favorably with most similar services by using the so-called "Zero Access Policy". According to this principle, all data between the client device and the computer is transmitted using a secure protocol. To gain access to objects in the "cloud" you need to have a custom cryptographic key. Without it, neither the developers of the service nor the special services will be able to open the file - this is excluded by the logic of the storage.

Another plus of Mega is a fairly large amount of space allocated for free - 50 GB. You can increase disk space up to 4 Terabytes for 29.99 euros per month, there are also more loyal "intermediate" tariffs.

Other features include integrated chat, address book, automatic synchronization of objects, compression of files into an archive before downloading, integration into File Explorer and the ability to use a proxy server. Of greatest interest is the option to generate links, which is why Mega often acts as a file hosting service with the function of consciousness of "direct" URLs for downloading files.

Briefly and clearly:

  • virtual disk for storing information;
  • use of the Zero-knowledge algorithm;
  • 50 GB free for all users;
  • built-in chat;
  • client menu in Russian.

For an ordinary Internet user, it is currently not difficult to find and use a file-sharing cloud service for free - there are quite a lot of them. As they say, for every taste and color.

The new file-sharing service MEGA will not be an exception. How have you not heard of MEGA yet? MEGA is a new online file storage service created by renowned businessman Tim Dotcom. His former service Megaupload.com - closed due to severe pressure from anti-piracy lobbyists. But, Tim was released into the wild, and he took up the old and created a new file storage service for users. Even harder and even more interesting. And although the project is still damp, it clearly has a future, since the former file hosting Megaupload.com had a lot of fans.

Given his bitter experience, Tim Dotcom came to the conclusion that all files that are stored and uploaded to the service need to be encrypted. This will increase the security of using cloud storage by users and prevent personal information from being “intercepted”. Here in this video, Kim shares his opinion about the encryption of information and not only.

Let's get back to the MEGA file sharing service.

The fact that the service is protected by an encrypted connection is not difficult to verify. If you look at the address bar of the browser (in this case, the Google Chrome browser), it indicates that the connection was established using the secure https:// protocol. Letter s - means secure(safe).

Previously, such a chip was used only by payment systems and sites where you need to enter payment data. Now even search engines like Google use it.

I hope you are already interested. So let's register on MEGA and find out what and how it works there.

I registered in the first days after the opening of the service. Then it was still very buggy, but despite this, I managed to upload a number of files.

It is worth noting the fact that the service supports several languages (including Russian). This is a definite plus of the project.

In order to register, you need to go to the MEGA website and find the button " registration". We create a new account - we indicate the name (you can think of any nickname), your e-mail and password.

Put a checkmark in the checkbox "" and click the "Register" button. An email should be sent to your email address shortly after registration. Find the link in the body of the email and click on it. This will be the registration confirmation. That, in fact, is all. Registration completed.

Log into your account by entering your email address and password. Now let's create a new folder. We will do this in order not to get confused, because in the future there may be many files. Find the red cloud icon in the file manager and right-click. A dropdown menu should appear. This is it.

Let's name the new folder " Books". We will put there e-books that we liked :).

Click the create button. We observe that a new folder "Books" has appeared in the file manager.

Besides the fact that we can create a folder, we can delete an existing one. This is also easy to do. We need to specify the folder that we no longer need, and by right-clicking on it, select the item " Delete". Everything is intuitive.

In general, the interface is very similar to the operating system. Here you can also create a folder, rename it, move it or copy it. The same can be done with regular files. Try it yourself and you'll quickly figure it out.

There is also a special folder - " Basket". Yes, yes, this is the same basket in which deleted files and folders accumulate. Just like in the operating system. And this is very cool, since you can delete a file by mistake and bitterly regret it. Immediately, the files are deleted first in the "Trash" and they can be restored if desired. This is done with a simple move or copy command.

Apparently, the basket is cleared only forcibly through the item " Empty trash". That is, deleted files are stored until you yourself delete them completely and irretrievably.

Well, okay, digress. Let's try to upload some file to the "Books" folder we created. For a sample. Click on the "Books" folder in the " File Manager". Next, click on the button "Upload file" which is located in the top menu.

A file selection window appears, select, click "Open".

At the bottom of the page you can see the process of downloading the file.

If the status says " pending…”, this means that the file is queued and waiting to be downloaded. This happens if several files or a folder with files are uploaded. Do not close the browser window. As soon as the download queue reaches a file with a pending status, the download process will begin, which can be observed.

In addition to downloading individual files, you can download entire folders with files. To do this, click the "Upload folder" button and in the "Browse for folders" window, select the one you need, click OK. After confirming the selection, the download will begin.

Here it is worth warning that downloading entire folders with many files can take hours. The download time depends both on the load on the MEGA service itself and on the bandwidth of the Internet connection.

Now let's talk about how you can get a link to a file and transfer it to another. It's a file sharing service.

If you look at the list of files, you can see that next to the name of each file there is this icon. When you click on it, a window for obtaining a link to the file appears (" Links»).

Links are not so easy. As already mentioned, all files are encrypted and transmitted over the network secure. In the window for obtaining a link to a file, there are several checkboxes (windows where they remove or put checkmarks). Depending on which checkboxes we mark, what link we will receive will depend.

If you check it, only a link to the file will appear in the window. But this link does not download the file. You need a file key. It will be displayed if you check the file key checkbox.

File Key. This is a certain combination of characters that give access to the file when downloading. It will need to be entered by the recipient of the file in a special field on the download page.

File name. Check the box if you want the link to include the file name. The same goes for the checkbox " file size". It may or may not be specified. Here as you please :)

Let's see what happens if you specify only "" and "" + " in the link parameters File Key". Parameters " File name" and " file size We won’t indicate, since they don’t really affect anything, but serve as purely informative.

Next, open a new browser tab and copy the text of the received link into the address bar. In this case, you can use a combination of hot keys CTRL+V. This combination is responsible for pasting the text copied to the clipboard. Follow the link and see the download page. The page is very nicely designed. In the central area of the page we will see the following message.

Oops! Here we are asked some decryption key. Only knowing the key to the file can be downloaded. This is the key we are invited to receive in the window for obtaining links.

So let's get it and paste it into the box that says " Enter decryption key". Don't forget to check the box next to " I agree with MEGA Terms of Service».

We press the button " Download and wait for the file to download.

As you can see, the download speed of the file is 864.5 kbps. , which is quite a lot.

But what about those who do not like to play spies? In this case, when receiving a link to the file, put a tick in the checkboxes "" + " File Key' and copy it.

That's it, now the link can be inserted into the text of an email, ICQ messages and sent to the person to whom you want to transfer the file. At the same time, you will not need to enter any keys on the file download page, you just need to agree to the terms of service, and click on the button " Download».

Now that we have successfully dealt with the service interface, let's look at the settings. Go to the "Account" tab and get to the settings and parameters page.

The free account type on MEGA allows you to use 50 GB of cloud storage space.

If you want more, pay money. But, for personal purposes, these 50 GB are enough. The paid account type has its advantages. First, it is the increased download speed. Secondly, an increased amount of space on the service of 500 GB ( Pro Ⅰ), 2 TB ( Pro Ⅱ), 4 TB ( Pro Ⅲ).

Here, the page also shows the percentage of occupied storage space.

You can also set transfer parameters: limit the transfer rate, set the number of parallel connections. Here you can also enable / disable the function of skipping identical files when downloading, as well as using the secure SSL protocol. Disabling the secure data transfer protocol increases the speed of downloading files, since in this case redundant code is not used.

On the same page, you can see the balance (if a paid account type is used) and session history.
