What is la ilaha il alla. Four virtues of saying the words “La ilaha illallah. Arguments from the Quran and Sunnah for these seven conditions

With the name of Allah the Merciful, the Merciful

Praise be to Allah - the Lord of the worlds, peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, members of his family and all his companions!

Sheikh ‘Abdur-Rahman ibn Hassan Ali Sheikh said: “In witnessing (la ilaha illa-Allah) seven conditions are necessary, and the utterance of this testimony will not be useful if any of these conditions are not present!

First: Knowledge that excludes ignorance;
Second: Confidence that excludes doubt;
Third: Acceptance incompatible with rejection;
Fourth: Obedience, excluding disobedience (abandonment);
Fifth: Sincerity, excluding polytheism;
Sixth: Truthfulness, excluding hypocrisy;
Seventh: Love incompatible with hatred (dislike)”. See Fathul Majid 190.

Arguments from the Quran and Sunnah for these seven conditions

1. Knowledge that excludes ignorance

Allah Almighty said: « Know that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah, and ask for forgiveness for your sin!(Muhammad 47:19).

From ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The one who died knowing that there is none worthy of worship except Allah will enter Paradise!” Muslim 26.

2. Conviction beyond doubt

Allah Almighty said: “The believers are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger, and then had no doubts» (al-Hujurat 49:15).

Allah Almighty also said: “Tell them a parable about two men. For one of them We made two vineyards, surrounded them with palm trees, and placed a cornfield between them. Both gardens bore fruit, and none of them wasted, and between them We made a river. He had fruits, and he said to his companion, talking with him: "I have more property and helpers than you." He entered his garden, doing an injustice to himself, and said, “I don't think it will ever disappear. I don't think the Hour will come. And if they return me to my Lord, then upon my return I will find something even more beautiful there. ” His comrade, talking with him, said: “Do you really not believe in the One Who created you from their land, then from a drop, and then made you a man? As for me, my Lord is Allah, and I do not associate anyone with my Lord!” (al-Kahf 18: 33-38).

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah! Whichever servant of Allah meets Allah with these two testimonies, doubting their truth He will surely enter Paradise!” Muslim 27.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) also said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: “Go, and whoever you meet behind this wall, testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, being convinced of it with my heart make him happy with Paradise!” Muslim 31.

Sheikh Abu Butain said: “The Quran indicates that doubting the foundations of religion is unbelief. Doubt (shaqq) is to waver between two things, like one who does not affirm the truthfulness of the messenger, but does not accuse him of lying. Or he does not affirm about the Day of Judgment, just as he does not deny it, and the like. Just like someone who does not consider prayer obligatory, but does not deny its obligation, or does not consider adultery forbidden, but at the same time does not speak of its permissibility. All this is unbelief by unanimous opinion!” See “Hukmu takfir al-mu’ayin” 17.

However, a distinction must be made between doubt and the temporary instigation of Satan! Shaykhul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: “Instigation (was-was) is that which penetrates the heart without the desire of a person. And if the servant of Allah feels hatred for these promptings and rejects them, then his hatred for them is a true manifestation of faith! See “ad-Diya ash-sharik” 374.

3. Acceptance incompatible with rejection

Allah Almighty said: “In the same way, no matter what warner We sent before you to any village, its pampered residents would say: “Verily, we found our fathers on this path, and we faithfully follow in their footsteps! ”” (az-Zuhruf 43:23).

Allah Almighty also said: “Indeed, this is how We deal with sinners. When they were told: “La ilaha illa-Allah,” they exalted themselves and said: “Are we going to give up our deities for the sake of a possessed poet?” (as-Saffat 37: 34-36).

Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The guidance and knowledge with which Allah sent me to the people is like abundant rain falling on the earth. Part of this land was fertile, it absorbed water, and a lot of all sorts of plants and grass grew on it. The other part of it was dense, it retained water on itself, and Allah turned it to the benefit of people who began to use this water for drinking, water livestock with it and use it for irrigation. The rain also fell on another part of the earth, which was a plain, which did not retain water and on which nothing grew. These parts of the earth are like those people who comprehended the religion of Allah, benefited from what Allah sent me with, acquired knowledge themselves and passed it on to others, as well as those who did not turn to it themselves and did not accept the guidance of Allah with whom I was sent to the people. al-Bukhari 79, Muslim 2282.

‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Whoever showed disbelief even in one letter of the Koran, he showed disbelief in relation to everything!”‘Abdur-Razzak 8/472. Sheikhul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah confirmed the authenticity. See al-Fataawa al-kubra 5/48.

Imam Ibn Batta said: “Anyone who rejects what Allah imputed in his Book or what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) affirmed in the Sunnah, denying it and considering it a lie, he is an unbeliever!” See al-Ibana al-kubra 2/764.

Imam Ibn Abil-‘Izz said: “There is no disagreement among scholars that if someone openly shows refusal to accept certain duties transmitted in many ways or certain forbidden things and the like, then he should be called to repentance, and in case of stubbornness, he should be executed as an apostate!” See “Sharh ‘aqida at-Tahawiya” 355.

4. Obedience without disobedience

Allah Almighty said: "Who submitted to Allah, being a doer of good, he grabbed hold of a reliable handle ”(Luqman 31:22).

Allah Almighty also said: “But no, I swear by your Lord! “They will not believe until they elect you as a judge in all that is entangled between them, until they cease to experience constraint in their souls from your decision, and do not submit completely!” (an-Nisa 4:65).

‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “None of you will believe until his passion follows what I came with!” Ibn Abi ‘Asim in as-Sunna 15, al-Bayhaqi in al-Madhal 209, al-Khatib in at-Tarih 4/469.

Regarding the authenticity of this hadeeth, there is a certain disagreement among the scholars. However, Imam Abu Nu'aym, Imam an-Nawawi, Sheikh Ibn al-Qayyim, Imam Ibn Muflikh, Hafiz al-Suyuty, Sheikh Muhammad ibn ‘Abdul-Wahhab, Sheikh Siddyk Hasan Khan, Hafiz al-Hakami called it reliable. See al-Arba'in No. 41, al-Adabu-shshar'iya 3/69, Usul al-iman 1/264, Ma'arij al-kabul 2/78.

And even if this hadeeth was weak from the side of the isnad, its meaning is correct, as it is confirmed by the Koran! Allah Almighty said: For the believing man and believing woman no choice when they make a decision, if Allah and His Messenger have already decided! And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has fallen into obvious error.”(al-Ahzab 33:36).

Allah Almighty also said: “If they do not answer you, then know that they are only following their passions. And who can be more misguided than the one who follows his passions without the right guidance from Allah? (al-Qasas 28:50).

However, not any disobedience of Allah makes a person unfaithful! Of disobedience, there are types that make a person unfaithful, and there are types that make a person a sinful impious, but not unfaithful!

5. Sincerity, excluding polytheism

Allah Almighty and Almighty has said: “Worship Allah, being sincere before Him in religion!”(az-Zumar 39:2).

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: One day I asked: “O Messenger of Allah, who will be the happiest of people because of your intercession on the Day of Judgment?” In response, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: “O Abu Hurairah, I thought that no one would ask about this before you, because I saw how eager you were to listen to my words! On the Day of Resurrection, the happiest of people, thanks to my intercession, will be the one who said: “La ilaha illa-Allah”, being sincere in your heart!»”. al-Bukhari 99.

6. Truthfulness, excluding hypocrisy

Allah Almighty said: « Among the people there are those who say: "We believe in Allah and the Last Day." However, they are unbelievers! They try to deceive Allah and the believers, but they only deceive themselves and do not realize it” (al-Baqara 2: 8-9).

Allah Almighty also said: “When the hypocrites come to you, they say: “We testify that you are the Messenger of Allah.” Allah knows that you are His messenger, and Allah testifies that the hypocrites are liars!” (al-Munafiqun 63:1).

Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: “Whoever testifies that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, being true in your heart Allah will surely make it forbidden for the Fire!” al-Bukhari 128, Muslim 32.

Imam Abu Muzaffar as-Sam'ani said: “The kufr of hypocrisy is the recognition by the tongue of what is not in the heart!” See “Tafsir as-Sam'ani” 1/46.

Imam Abu Bakr ibn al-'Arabi said: “Hypocrisy is speaking with the tongue or doing deeds that are contrary to what is in the heart of words and beliefs! Hypocrisy is of two types: in the monotheism of Allah and the recognition of this, or in deeds. Hypocrisy in monotheism is unequivocal unbelief, and hypocrisy in deeds is a sin. And hypocrisy in deeds is hypocrisy, which is less than hypocrisy, just as unbelief is less than unbelief!” See "'Aridatul-Ahuazi" 10/110.

Hafiz Ibn Kathir said: “Hypocrisy is the manifestation of good and the concealment of evil, and it is of various kinds: hypocrisy in conviction, and this is what attracts a person forever to Hell, and hypocrisy in deeds, which is the greatest of sins!” See “Tafsir Ibn Kathir” 1/87.

Hypocrisy in deeds, for example, these are the qualities that the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) spoke about in a well-known hadith: “A true hypocrite is one who has four qualities, and one who differs in one of them will be marked with one of the properties of hypocrisy until he gets rid of it. These qualities distinguish one who betrays when he is trusted; lies when talking about something; acts treacherously when he concludes a contract, and transgresses the boundaries of what is permitted when he is at enmity with someone " al-Bukhari 34, Muslim 58.

7. Love incompatible with hatred (dislike)

Allah Almighty said: “Woe to those who disbelieved! He will make their deeds futile. This is because they hated what was sent down by Allah and He made their deeds vain!”(Muhammad 47:9).

Allah Almighty also said: “O you who believe! If any of you depart from your religion, then Allah will bring other people whom He will love and who will love him» (al-Maida 5:54).

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The one in whom there are three qualities will feel the sweetness of iman (faith)! Who will love Allah and His Messenger more than anything else; will love some person only for the sake of Allah; and he will not want to return to unbelief after Allah has saved him from it, just as he does not want to be thrown into the fire! al-Bukhari 16, Muslim 43.

This great hadith indicates that the sweetness of iman will be felt by the one who loves Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) more than anything else! Who loves and hates only for the sake of Allah! And who would not want to return to disbelief after Allah has shown him mercy with Islam, just as much as he would not like to fall into the Fire! See al-Mufhim 1/215, al-Iqmal 1/278.

There is also the eighth condition of the shahada, which is:

8. Non-recognition and renunciation of everything that is worshiped besides Allah

Allah Almighty said: "Who does not believe in taghut but believes in Allah, he has grasped the most reliable handle, which will never break. Allah is Hearing, Knowing!”(al-Baqara 2:256).

Almighty Allah conveyed the words of the Prophet Hud (peace be upon him), who said: “Verily, I call Allah as a witness and ask you to testify that I am not involved in those whom you worship instead of Him” (Hud 11: 54-55).

Allah Almighty also says: “So Ibrahim said to his father and to his people: “Verily, I am not involved in what you worship except the one who created me. Indeed, He will guide me to the straight path.”(az-Zuhruf 43:26-27).

From Tariqa ibn Ashyam it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Who said: “La ilaha illa-Allah”, and then rejected everything that is worshiped besides Allah his property and blood are forbidden, and his answer is with Allah!” Muslim 23.

Sheikh Muhammad ibn ‘Abdul-Wahhab said: “He who does not consider the polytheists unfaithful, or doubts their unbelief, or considers their convictions to be correct, he has fallen into great unbelief by unanimous opinion!” See "Majmu'atu-rrasail" 213.

This condition is very important and is one of the most basic! After all, even if a person accepts the testimony “la ilaha illa-Allah”, pronounces it with his tongue and is convinced of its truth with his heart, moreover, worship only Allah alone, but at the same time he will not consider false everything that people worship besides Allah, then his certificate will be invalid! See “Taysirul-Azizil-Hamid” 286.

If, under all the mentioned conditions of the shahada, a person believes that there is, say, some religion that is also true, such as those who say that Christians and Jews are not infidels and that they will be questioned on the basis of their Scripture, then his the certificate "la ilaha illa-llah" is invalid!

Let none of us be afraid that sadaqah for this noble cause will somehow affect our well-being, because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Sadaqah does not reduce wealth in any way!” (See Sahih Muslim/2588).

And let none of us hesitate to make even a small donation, for before Allah it becomes great.

Wa-alaikum-salaam, dear brother Albert!
Witness (shahada) that "there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and His messenger" distinguishes a believer from an unbeliever.

The word "ilah" literally means "deity", "worthy of worship", "worthy of prayer", i.e. The one whose greatness, power, wisdom and place in the world are worthy of being worshipped.

La ilaha illa Allah, we must pronounce with full understanding of the meaning of these words. When we mechanically repeat these words, we differ little from those who do not pronounce them at all. If a person does not feel the full power, the all-encompassing nature of these words, if he does not feel their great significance for himself, if he does not try to delve into them, if a desire does not kindle in a person to follow them in life, if he does not beware of everything that these words are incompatible, - this man did not understand Islam. Simply repeating these words, and not following them as a law of life, does not put a person among those who fulfill the mission entrusted by Allah, therefore, will not benefit him in the future. It's like repeating the word "penicillin" endlessly during inflammation - it won't get any easier. The whole point is in the activity. In order for penicillin to be useful, it is necessary to perform an action - at least, introduce it into the body.

La ilaha illa Allah, means that we are deeply and consciously convinced of the Unity of Allah, i.e. Only Allah we acknowledge as our God. We realize that our life and death depend only on Him, that only He (as our Creator) knows what is good for us and what is destructive. Only to Him we can worship and obey, only in Him we can hope, only Him we must fear, only Him we must ask and only to Him we must cry for help, only in His name and for His sake we must start any business.

La ilaha illa Allah means that we sincerely acknowledge that the rule and authority belongs to Allah alone. Only He has the right to be the Legislator and establish the norms and rules governing human life on Earth. And that only He is worthy of absolute love.

From this it follows that for the believer all the laws invented by man and introduced into public life have value and meaning only if they do not contradict His Law. All philosophical concepts and theories, guided only by which, people try to build a human society, eventually lead the latter to collapse.

La ilaha illa Allah means that we must observe the boundaries of what is permitted and forbidden, which Allah has determined for us.

La ilaha illa Allah means that with our firm conviction in the meaning of these words, we will certainly come to the conclusion that the Koran (the Book-Word of Allah) and the Sunnah (the path of life, the tradition of the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him), are the only basis and guidance for achieving happiness in both worlds.

Every Muslim can measure his faith with the words “La ilaha illa Allah” and at the same time find in his deeds many deeds that are not compatible with these words. Each of us can recall cases when we told a lie, were afraid of those in power, succumbed to anger, committed an act dictated by anything but love for Allah, and much more.

Formally recognizing the power of Allah, His wisdom and power, in practical life we often go against His plans. While we often disapprove of rules and customs that are contrary to Islam, we nevertheless do not oppose them. Fearing the condemnation of others, we do things that the Prophet Muhammad did not do or condemned. In order to help a person fulfill the mission of great worship, in order to warn him from delusions and in order to test him at the same time, Allah placed on him a certain minimum of duties, which are the five pillars (ruks) of Islam:

1. Firm belief in faith and evidence that there is no deity but Allah, and that the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, is a slave and messenger of Allah.

2. Performing five prayers a day.

3. Allocation once a year by wealthy people of the community a certain share of their property (zakat) in favor of the poor, the needy and those on the path of Allah.

4. Annual observance of uraza in the month of Ramadan.

5. Making a Hajj (pilgrimage) to Mecca to the House of Allah, the Kaaba once in a lifetime if possible.

Religious reading: la illaha prayer to help our readers.

“La ikraha fed-din, kad tabayyanar-roshdo men al-hayyi, faman yakfor bet-taghutva yo-man Billah fagades tamsaka bel-`torvatel-wax lanfesama laha wallaho sami`un `alim”

after each of the daily obligatory prayers, one should say:

“Allaho Akbar” 34 times (“Allah is great”),

“Alhamdo-lilla” 33 times (“praise be to God”),

"Sobhanalla" 33 times. (“God is free from everything we attribute to him”).

You should also say either 100 times or 3 times the phrase “La Illah illa`llah” (“there is no God but Allah”),

and also Ayato`l Korsi (K; 2:256-259): “Allaho la ilaha illa hoval-hayyol-khayyam, la ta`hozohu senaton wa naum. Lahu ma fes-samawate wa ma fel-arz. Man zallazi yashfa`o `indahu illa be ezneh. Ya`lamo ma bayna aidihem wa ma halfahom, wa la yohituna be shay`en men `elmehi illa be masha` vase`a korsiyohus-samavate val-arz, wa la ya`odohu hefzahoma, wa hoval-`aliyol-`azim” (256, transcription in accordance with the Persian-Nizhny Novgorod pronunciation

“La ikraha fed-din, kad tabayyanar-roshdo men al-hayyi, faman yakfor bet-taghutva yo-men Billah fagades tamsaka white-`torvatel-wax lanfesama laha wallaho sami`un `alim” (257)

“Allaho valiyolazina amanu yohrejohom-men az-zolamate elannur, wallazina kafaru ouliya ʻohomot-tahut, yokrezhunahom men an-nuri ilaz-zomelat. Ula`ika asnabon-nar, hom fiha khalidun” (258-259),

“Allah - there is no Deity, except for Him, living, existing; neither drowsiness nor sleep take possession of him; To Him belongs all that is in heaven and on earth. Who will intercede before Him, except with His permission? He knows what was before them and what will be after them, but they do not comprehend anything from His knowledge, except what He wills. His throne embraces the heavens and the earth, and His guarding them does not burden Him - verily, He is high, great!”

“There is no compulsion in religion. The straight Path has already clearly distinguished itself from error. Whoever does not believe in idolatry and believes in Allah, he has grasped a reliable support, for which there is no contrition. Verily, Allah is Radiant, Knowing!”

“Allah is the friend of those who believe. He brings them out of darkness into light. And those who are unfaithful, their friends are idols; they lead them out of light into darkness. These are the inhabitants of the fire, they abide in it forever!”

Konut prayer (that is, a prayer that is said during the second rak'ah of prayer, holding hands in front of the face):

“Allahoma navvir zahiri be ta’atika, wa batini be mahabbatika wa kalbi be ma’rifatika wa ruhi be moshahadateteka wa serri be’istiklali ittisali hazratika, ya zol-jalali wal-ikram.”

“Allahom-aj'al kalbi nuran wa sam'i nuran wa basari nuran wa lisani nuran wa yadayya nuran wa rejlaya nuran wa jami'ya javarehi nuran, ya nural-anwar.”

“Allahoma aranal-ashiya`a kamahi. “

“Allahomma kon wajhati fi collie wajhen, wa maksadi fi collie casden, wa ghayati wi collie sa'yen, wa mulji'i wa malasi wi collie sheddaten wa hammen wa wakili fi collie amrin wa tawallani tavalliya'inayatin wa mahabbatin fi collie halin. “

“Wa sallalla ʻala mohammadin wa alehi kheiri alin.”

“O God, sanctify my outer existence with obedience to You, and my inner existence with kindness towards You, and my heart with direct knowledge of You, and my spirit with hidden insight about You, and my essence with the ability to reach Your Throne. O Glorious and Most High!”

“Oh God, sanctify my heart, and my ears, and my eyes, and my tongue, and my hands, and my feet, and my whole body. O Light of all Light!”

“O God, wherever I turn, be before me; whichever direction I go, be my destination; whatever I undertake, be my goal; in times of worries and sorrows, be my refuge and comfort; in every case be my protector; and in Your Grace and Philokalia, accept my actions under the protection of Your Might.”

“God bless Mohammed and his family, the noblest of all families. “

Bayazid's Charming and Short Contour:

“Ilahi anta ta'lamo manorid” (“O my Lord, you know what I desire”).

Sufi ordinary wird prescribed by the master:

“La ilaha illa anta, sobhanaka inni konto men az-zalemin” (“there is no God but You, praise be to You, truly I was unrighteous!”), this is “Yunossie”, that wird, with the help of which Jonah got out of the whale’s belly into in all senses, however, Sufis separately, otherwise I will die out here.

Prayer la illaha

8 conditions for saying "La ilaha illallah"

Evidence of faith "La ilaha illalah" (There is no god but Allah) is the first thing that defines a Muslim, but it is not limited to just pronouncing these words, it is a belief with the heart, these words contain the truth. "La ilaha illalah" is the key to heaven. Shahada requires the fulfillment of certain conditions:

8 conditions "La ilahaha illalah":

1. Al-ilm - knowledge.

2. Al-yakin - confidence.

3. Al-ihlas - sincerity.

4. Al-sidq - truthfulness.

5. Al-mahaba - love.

6. Al-inqiyad - obedience.

7. Al-kabul - acceptance.

8. Al-kufr bit-tawagit - the denial of polytheism.

1. Knowledge (al-ilm) is the opposite of ignorance.

The one who pronounces the shahada must know what this expression means and entails. This knowledge should be contained as in the heart. If a person pronounces “La ilaha illalah” without knowing its meaning, he does not fulfill this condition.

Shahada implies the knowledge of Allah, the concept of worship and understanding the basis of Islam. Such knowledge leads to complete submission and directing one's intentions only to the pleasure of Allah Almighty.

The Qur'an says: Know that there is no god but Allah (47:19).

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

“Whoever meets Allah without associating anything with Him will enter Paradise.”

The one whose last words were: “La ilaha illa-Allah” will enter Paradise.”

2. Al-yakin - certainty - the opposite of doubt.

A person should not experience any doubts when witnessing faith, his conviction that he pronounces with his heart should be firm. Allah is one and no one is worthy of worship except Allah.

The Qur'an says: “The only believers are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger, and then have no doubts” (49:15).

The hadith says: “I testify that there is no god but Allah, and that I am the messenger of Allah, and if a slave meets Allah without doubting these words, then he will certainly enter paradise.”

3. Sincerity (al-ikhlas) is the opposite of shirk.

Sincerity consists in avoiding showing off and directing all your deeds only to the pleasure of Allah. A person is not able to deceive the Almighty, who sees and knows everything, and showing insincerity, he only falls into the great sin of hypocrisy before Allah.

The Quran says: “Say: “I am commanded to worship Allah, purifying my faith before Him” (39:11).

Shirk is the opposite of sincerity. An insincere person, along with Allah, will share sincerity between Allah and other false gods, and such worship will turn into polytheism.

The Quran says:

“Say: “I worship Allah alone, purifying my faith before Him. Worship, besides Him, whatever you wish" (39:14)

The hadith says: “The happiest people (on the Day of Judgment) are under my intercession, and these are those who said:“ There is no god but Allah ”sincerely from the heart.”

4. Al-sidq - truthfulness - the opposite of lies.

Truthfulness and honesty is the key to a correct understanding of the evidence. It strengthens the believer's desire for knowledge of His Lord. The Quran says:

“The hypocrites say one thing, but in their hearts they have another, as it says in the Qur'an:

They speak with their tongues what is not in their hearts” (48:11).

Truthfulness is in the heart. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever truly testifies from the bottom of his heart that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, Allah will forbid the fire to touch him.”

When love for Allah fills the heart, honesty and truthfulness in relation to worship and deeds fills the soul.

“On the day when neither wealth nor sons will benefit anyone except those who stand before Allah with a blameless heart” (26:88-89).

5. Al-mahaba - love is the opposite of hate.

Love in Islam means loving Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him), loving what Allah loves and hating what Allah does not love.

The hadith says: “The sweetness of faith will be felt by one who is distinguished by three (qualities): he loves Allah and His Messenger more than anything else, loves (this or that) person only for the sake of Allah and does not want to return to disbelief just as he does not want be thrown into the fire."

Love for Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) consists in following their instructions. The Quran says:

“Among people there are those who associate equals with Allah and love them just as they love Allah. But those who believe love Allah more. If only the wrongdoers, seeing the torment, saw that the power belongs entirely to Allah and that Allah inflicts severe torment ”(2:165).

The more a person gets to know Allah, his beautiful names and qualities, the more he shows love for Him, his love is strengthened. This makes the believer strive more for the pleasure of the Almighty, to do more worship and more good. Love for Allah Almighty leads to happiness in both worlds.

6. Al-inqiyad - obedience.

If a person has realized and sincerely accepted these words, then this will certainly be reflected in his deeds and will be expressed in submission to Allah. Obedience and submission to Allah is a precept of faith, which consists in following the precepts, moving away from what is not permitted by Allah.

The Quran says:

“Whoever submits his face to Allah, being a doer of good, he has grasped a reliable handle, and the decision of all affairs is with Allah” (31:22).

The Quran says: “There is no choice for a believing man and a believing woman when they make a decision if Allah and His Messenger have already made a decision. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has fallen into obvious error” (33:36).

Submission and obedience to Allah is for the very benefit and good of man, for Allah knows best.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “None of you will believe until his aspirations are in line with what I came with.”

7. Al-kabul - acceptance.

Realization of the basis of faith must be strengthened by the humble acceptance of this truth. Accepting "la ilaha illalah" protects the Muslim from pride, arrogance and ignorance:

“When they were told: “There is no deity but Allah,” they exalted themselves and said: “Do we really give up our gods for the sake of a possessed poet?” (37:35)

Witness means accepting Islam as the only correct way of life, and its precepts as the truth from Allah, following which will lead to His pleasure.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) compared those who accepted and rejected the truth: “Guidance and knowledge with which Allah sent me (to people) are like abundant rain falling on the earth. Part of this land was fertile, it absorbed water, and a lot of all sorts of plants and grass grew on it. (Another part) of it was dense, it retained (on itself) water, and Allah turned it for the benefit of people who began to use this water for drinking, water livestock with it and use it for irrigation. (Rain) also fell on another part of the earth, which was a plain, which did not retain water and on which nothing grew. (These parts of the earth) are like those people who comprehended the religion of Allah, benefited from what Allah sent me with, acquired knowledge themselves and passed it on (to others), as well as those who did not turn to it themselves and did not accept the guidance of Allah with which I was (sent) to the people.

8. Al-kufr bit-taghut - the denial of polytheism.

He who bears witness with his heart believes that there is no one and nothing worthy of worship except Allah.

The Quran says: “The straight path has already distinguished itself from error. Whoever does not believe in taghut, but believes in Allah, he has grasped the most reliable handle, which will never break. Allah is Hearing, Knowing” (2:256).

BISMILLAHHIRRAHMANIRRAHIM

“There is no compulsion in religion. The straight path has already distinguished itself from error. Who (makes takfir) does not believe in taghut, but believes in Allah, he has grasped the most reliable handle that will never break. Allah is Hearing, Knowing.” (al-Baqara, 256)

This is the meaning of the words "La ilaha illallah". “Juruatul-usko”, which means “reliable handle”.

“We did not send a single messenger before you who was not inspired: “There is no god but Me. Worship Me!" (al-Anbiya, 25)

These words “La ilaha illallah” mean: “Worship Allah alone. Worship no one but Him.”

Ibn Qayyim said: “Tawhid is not only rejection and denial. At the same time, acceptance without rejection is not valid. Because tawhid is rejection and acceptance at the same time. This is what is tawhid in the right sense.”

The reason for the enmity between the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Mushriks is the words:“La ilaha illallah.”

These words include two parts, the first of which is rejection, the second is acceptance:

1 - "La ilaha" - in this part there is a rejection of all deities, idols and taghuts that people worship.
2 - “illallah” - in the same part there is an affirmation of the existence of Allah and the acceptance of worship only to Him.

The Mushriks were well aware that they would be forced to accept monotheism and leave the shirk in which they were if they uttered "La ilaha illallah", as they knew very well the meaning of these words. The mushriks of that time understood this better than the people of this ummah, even better than the possessors of knowledge. However, despite the awareness of some (today's) experts in khukms and in the knowledge of the word, they did not comprehend and did not understand monotheism in worship ... Therefore, they entered into shirk, which contradicts monotheism and embellished it for people.

When Heraclius interrogated Abu Sufyan about what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, he replied: “He says: Worship Allah and do not associate anyone with Him. And leave what came to you from your fathers.” This is what Abu Sufyan and others understood from the words of the Messenger (s.a.s.): "Speak La ilaha illallah and you will be saved."

The words: "Whoever bears witness that there is no god but Allah" stand for:
“Whoever understands these words with full understanding, embraces, transfers to practice with all the requirements that contain these words and will not commit acts that contradict these words.”

While witnessing with both testimonies, it is necessary that nothing be practiced contrary to these words, either in knowledge, or in faith, or in deeds. Regarding this, Allah said:
Know that there is no god but Allah…”(Muhammad, 47/19)

If someone pronounces these words without understanding their meaning, without embracing what these words require and without practicing it (for example, without breaking with everything related to shirk, not showing sincerity in deeds and words), this will do him no good and he is not a believer.

That is, for one who does not pronounce in the tongue and in the heart, and does not practice with the organs and heart, such pronunciation of these words does not give any benefit, for the one who pronounces them according to Ijma.
It is said in Kurratul-Uyun:

These great words include negation and affirmation:
- denial of the divinity of everything except Allah with the words: "La ilaha"
- affirming the divinity of Allah with the words: "illallah"

Allah Ta'ala said:
” Allah has testified that there is no god but Him, as well as angels and those who have knowledge. He supports justice. There is no deity but Him, the Mighty, the Wise. “(Ali Imran: 3/18)

How many people have gone astray due to ignorance in understanding its meaning and these misguided majority. Reversed the true meaning and affirmed the false divinity. For which of the creations was the denial (i.e. La ilaha) deification of graves, mausoleums, taghuts, trees, stones, jinn, etc. intended? and they took it as a religion for themselves and likened and embellished and considered tawhid as an innovation and blamed those who called for it. And they did not understand what the Jahilis understood from the infidels of the Quraish tribe and
similar to them. They then understood the meaning of these words and therefore rejected them, which indicates their lack of sincerity. As Allah said about it:
” When they were told: “There is no deity but Allah,” they exalted themselves and said: “Shall we give up our gods for the sake of a possessed poet?” ” (Saffat: 37/35-36)

And the mushriks of the last generations of this ummah reject what those also rejected from what called them to leave the worship of what they worshiped besides Allah from the dead, graves, mausoleums, taghuts, etc. So they understood this meaning and therefore abandoned it. But these reject without understanding this meaning, and therefore you will find them saying: "La ilaha illallah" but at the same time crying out to others besides Allah.

The reason for this is that the Arabs in the jahiliyah were the owners of the Qur'anic language of pure Arabic speech. And they were not ignorant of anything as to the meaning of the tawhid that stated it. And the mushriks of the last generations of this ummah reject what those also rejected from what called them to leave the worship of what they worshiped besides Allah from the dead, graves, mausoleums, taghuts, etc. So they understood this meaning and therefore abandoned it. And these reject without understanding this meaning and therefore you will find them saying “La ilaha illallah”, but at the same time calling on others besides Allah. But as for those among whom shirk has spread today in worship, they are not from the possessors of the skills of this language. And truly they profess the terminology of the kalamists, which some of them pass on to others.

La ilaha illallah is the key shahada of the Muslim world. Shahada is the evidence of faith in Islam. From Arabic, the phrase is translated in the sense of "There is no one worthy of worship except Allah" or "There is no object of worship except Allah."

This means that all other gods are fictional idols. If a person somehow imagines the Creator of the people of heaven, earth and all worlds, which is Allah, then he worships not the Almighty God, but his imaginary idol. The utterance of this shahada testifies that a person is a faithful Muslim, that he has submitted to the Lord.

Shahada: 8 conditions for reciting La ilaha illallah

In the words of La ilaha illallah lies the very truth, this shahada is considered the key to the gates of Paradise. But the mere pronunciation of this phrase will not become a pass for a person to Paradise. It is necessary to observe several conditions for reciting the shahada. Here are the conditions:

  • Knowledge (Al-ilm).
  • Confidence (Al-Yaqin).
  • Sincerity (Al-ihlas).
  • Truth (Al-sidq).
  • Love (Al-Mahaba).
  • Submission (Al-Inqiyad).
  • Acceptance (Al-Kabul).
  • Faith in one God. (Al-kufr bit-tawagit).

Let's look at each item separately.

Shahada in Islam

The first condition la ilaha illallah: knowledge

Al-ilm is the light of knowledge, the antonym of darkness and ignorance. Every person who uses shahada must understand what this phrase is fraught with. If La ilaha illalah is pronounced without realizing its meaning, then the pronunciation loses all power. Shahada (testimony of faith) is a conscious choice of a person who understands and accepts all the laws of Islam. Only knowledge can make a person obedient to the Lord. As the Qur'an says: "Know that there is no god but Allah" (47:19).

It is also necessary to cite the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of the Almighty Creator be upon him), who said: “Whoever meets Allah without associating anything with Him, will enter Paradise.” The one whose last words were: “La ilaha illa-Allah” will enter Paradise.”

Condition Two: Confidence

Al-yaqin or certainty is a concept antonymous with doubt and moral vacillation. The believer should not have the slightest doubt about his beliefs. He should pronounce La ilaha illalah with firmness and calmness in his heart. The Almighty is One, and there are no other gods. Only the Lord is worthy of reverence and exaltation. As the Qur'an says: “The only believers are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger, and then have no doubts” (49:15). These words are supplemented by a sacred Hasid: “I testify that there is no god but Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah, and if a slave meets Allah without doubting these words, then he will certainly enter Paradise.”

Condition Three: Sincerity

The phrase al-ikhlas (sincerity) has an antonym - shirk. Al-ihlas - this means that a person should not pronounce a sacred phrase in a playful way, with a show. His listeners are not people, but Allah. And a person will not be able to deceive the Lord by insincerely pronouncing the shahada. God sees and understands everything, and the feigned pronunciation of the phrase “to the public” will become a great sin, but evidence of monotheism.

Remember, as the Qur'an says: "Say: 'I am commanded to worship Allah, purifying my faith before Him'" (39:11).

Allah considers shirk one of the most serious sinful offenses. An insincere person has no firmness of faith, and over time he may well fall into the heresy of polytheism.

“Say: “I worship Allah alone, purifying my faith before Him. Worship, besides Him, whatever you wish" (39:14).

“The happiest people (on the Day of Judgment) are under my intercession, and these are those who said: “There is no god but Allah” sincerely from the heart.”

Condition four: truthfulness

Al-sidq or truthfulness is the antonym of lies. Only a person who is honest with himself and with God is able to correctly understand the shahada. The testimony of faith will strengthen the strength of a person on his way to the realization of the power of the Most High.

The hypocrites say one thing, but in their hearts they have something completely different. The Almighty Creator in the Qur'an says: They pronounce with their tongues what is not in their hearts" (48:11).

Al-sidq is not on the tongue, but in the heart. Only with the heart can a person pronounce La ilaha illa-llah.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever truly testifies from the bottom of his heart that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, Allah will forbid fire to touch him.” Only when the soul is completely filled with truth, love and honesty is it possible to approach God.

“On the day when neither wealth nor sons will benefit anyone except those who stand before Allah with a blameless heart” (26:88-89).

Condition five: love

One of the most important conditions for reciting the shahada is love or al-mahaba. In the Islamic tradition, love is understood as love for the Almighty and His Prophet (peace be upon him). Believers are required to love what the Lord loves and not accept what is unacceptable to the Almighty.

Recall the hadith: “The sweetness of faith will be felt by one who is distinguished by three (qualities): he loves Allah and His Messenger more than anything else, loves (this or that) person only for the sake of Allah and does not want to return to disbelief just as he does not want to be thrown into the fire."

But how can a person prove his love for God? There is only one way - strict adherence to the Qur'an and the reliable sunnah. The Qur'an says: “Among people there are those who associate equals with Allah and love them just as they love Allah. But those who believe love Allah more. If only the wrongdoers, seeing the torment, saw that the power belongs entirely to Allah and that Allah inflicts severe torment ”(2:165).

Knowledge helps a person to love the Almighty. The more he learns about God, the stronger love. Al-mahaba helps the believer to attract the attention of the Lord, to cause His satisfaction. The more love for God, the more goodness and happiness in the world.

Condition six: obedience

Submission or Al-inkiyad is the awareness and acceptance of the Power of the Lord of the worlds, His might and all His qualities. Only by fully submitting to Allah can a person sincerely read the shahada. People are supposed to strictly follow the instructions of the Lord, without deviating from the right path.

Let us recall the Qur'an: "Whoever has subordinated his face to Allah, being a doer of good, he has grasped a reliable handle, and the decision of all affairs is with Allah" (31:22).

“There is no choice for a believing man and a believing woman when they make a decision if Allah and His Messenger have already made a decision. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has fallen into obvious error” (33:36).

Submission is necessary for the person himself, it is determined by the Lord himself. As the Prophet said, "None of you will believe until his aspirations are in line with what I came with."

Condition Seven: Acceptance

The truth of the words La ilaha illalah (La ilaha illallah) must be accepted by a Muslim unquestioningly. It will protect a person from arrogance and ignorance.

Condition Eight: Rejection of Polytheism

A person who pronounces the shahada must reject polytheism with his heart and soul.

“The straight path has already distinguished itself from error. Whoever does not believe in taghut, but believes in Allah, he has grasped the most reliable handle that will never break. (2:256).

Peace be with you, mercy and blessings of the Almighty Creator
