If the program is uninstalled or the shortcut is missing...
Recovering a deleted Skype is even easier than a forgotten password:
1.Make sure that Skype is indeed uninstalled first. To do this, look for it in the list of programs (go to "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Programs" - "Uninstall Programs"). If there is no Skype among the installed programs, you need to restore the deleted Skype again.
If the program was found in the list, and its shortcut disappeared, then you could simply delete the shortcut from the desktop or from another place where you used to launch the messenger, or this happened after a crash. Right-click on the found program and select "Send to ..." - "To the desktop".

If Skype is not working for reasons unknown to you, try updating your Internet browser to the latest version.

Make sure the program is not stuck on startup. For this:
1. Go to the "Task Manager" by pressing the combination "Ctrl", "Alt", "Del", then - "Start Task Manager" or by right-clicking on the very bottom line on your screen (where open programs and files are minimized) and by selecting the "Start Task Manager" command.
2. Look on the second tab "Processes" for the line "Skype ...".

1. Exit Skype completely if you have not exited yet: in the tray below, near the clock, look for the Skype icon (if not all icons are displayed, click on the arrow to open the list), right-click on it and select "Exit".
Minimized Skype can be displayed in the tray as a green check mark or as a blue symbol with the letter "S".
2. Enter "Start".
3.In the search box, enter "%AppData%\Skype" to find the folder with your personal data.
4.Go to the found folder by clicking on the search result.
5. While in the found folder, click on the "Tools" menu ("Organize") and select "Folder Options ..." ("Folder Options"). The names may be different in different operating systems.
6.Go to the "View" tab in the window that opens.
7. Find the line "Show hidden files, folders ..." at the end of the list and check the box there.
8. Click "Apply", then - "OK".
9.Find the "shared.xml" file in the open folder and delete it.
10.Try running the program again. If it still does not work after that, you will need to remove Skype. But first, it's better to copy the contents of the folder where you deleted the file to another location. This is required in order to restore messages in Skype (correspondence) after the messenger is restored.
11. Remove the program: go to "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Programs" - "Uninstall Programs", find the line with the program, select it and click "Delete".
12. Install Skype again by downloading the new version from the site.
13. Transfer the previously copied to the folder newly created by the program (you can find it in the same way as described in paragraphs No. 2-3 of this manual).
14. Now everything should work!
