Vladimir Etush "got infected" with his love for the theater while still at school, where he studied in a theater group directed by Pavel Tikhonovich Svishchev.

In 1940 he was enrolled as a volunteer at the Boris Shchukin Theater School.

Since 1987 - rector of the Boris Shchukin Theater School, professor (1976), since 2003 - its artistic director.

Vladimir Etush began his career at the Vakhtangov Theater with age-related, characteristic, comedy episodes. The most notable role at the beginning of his career was Lounes' servant in Shakespeare's comedy "The Two of Verona". Thanks to the brilliant interludes of N. Erdman, the role sparkled and sparkled with humor. The duet of Shakespeare's favorite servants-simpletons was built on improvisation and demanded from the artists complete freedom, resourcefulness, quick reactions and great charm. This role has become one of his favorites.

Among the early works of the artist - soft, intelligent Dorogomilov ( Kirill Izvekov), Police Officer Menios ( Angela) and the famous Brighella mask ( Princess Turandot).

The creative destiny of V.A. Etusha is an excellent confirmation of the famous formula of K. Stanislavsky that there are no small roles, but there are small artists. However, the artist gradually moves from filigreely played episodes to creating complex, diverse characters.

In the comedy B. Shaw "Millionaire" with incredible brilliance and graceful irony Etush plays the hapless lover Blenderblend.

In 1965, with the role of Coupeau ( Trap) begins a new stage in the work of V.A. Etusha. At the beginning of the performance, Coupeau is kind and gentle, generous and timid, in love and very reliable. But fate turns out to be ruthless to him, strikes a terrible blow. The artist with genuine, deep drama played the moment of his hero's transition from strength and confidence to complete lack of will and dependence on circumstances, from fearlessness to complete moral and physical collapse.

In 1968, Alexandra Remizova staged a performance - the monologue "The Voice", where the Italian tailor Giulio Ferata tells how he became the owner of a wonderful voice and how he lost this gift. This was an outstanding work by Vladimir Etush.

And again a comedy: arrogant, vain, stubborn and, at the same time, childishly gullible Jourdain ( Bourgeois in the nobility). The role was played with true comedic brilliance and unbridled imagination.

And in the comedy "Great Magic" by Eduardo de Filippo V.A. Etush appeared on stage in the guise of the illusionist Otto Marvuglio. His character lived in two states - real and fictional. Sometimes they crossed, giving way to each other: a sad reality with poverty, freeloaders-relatives and a world of illusions, in which Otto Marvulya is a sorcerer, wizard, magician, and has no equal. Etush surprisingly poetically revealed these secret moments in the life of his hero.

In the play "Bless you" Etush is once again incredibly bright and funny in the poignant role of the bankrupt writer Merikur.

In the play "White Rabbit", his hero finds himself in a situation where real life is unbearable due to a collision with deaf, greedy, callous and cruel relatives. And, in order to preserve his own world, the hero invents it and tells about it only to his friend, also invented - the white rabbit Charlie. Etush uses such pure, naive colors to characterize his image that the viewer cannot remain indifferent to him, he is always on his side.

And one more meeting with the drama of Eduardo de Filippo - the play "The Cylinder". With incredible elegance and grace, the actor plays up the most absurd situation in which his hero Attilio finds himself.

On November 20, 2000, director Vladimir Ivanov lets in the play "Uncle's Dream" - a kind of benefit performance of Vladimir Etush in the role of the old Prince K. Such Vladimir Etush and such a Prince have never been seen! For this work, the actor was awarded the State Prize of Russia.

Since 2011 he has been playing the role of Gregory Solomon ( Price) in the play "The Landing", staged by Rimas Tuminas for the 90th anniversary of the Vakhtangov Theater. Sharp, grotesque Vladimir Etush plays an old Jew, furniture merchant Solomon softly. It seems that never a superprofessional, famous, successful, self-confident "master" has played so soulfully and sincerely, introducing into the role the aching note of human loneliness.

In 2013, for the anniversary of V.A. Etusha released the play "Okaemovy Dyas" (based on A. Afinogenov's play "Mashenka"), where Vladimir Abramovich played the main role - Academician Okaemov.

In 2016, Vladimir Abramovich again delighted his ardent fans with the premiere - the play "Benefit" based on the play by Nadezhda Ptushkina "While she was dying" directed by V.V. Ivanov, where the legendary artist went on a risky experiment with one desire - to test himself in a different incarnation and for the first time played a female role.

His film debut was the role of Seyid-Ali in the film "Admiral Ushakov" in 1953. The love of millions of viewers brought Etush his work in the comedies of Leonid Gaidai - Saakhov ( Caucasian captive), engineer Bruns ( Twelve Chairs), Shpak ( Ivan Vasilievich changes his profession).

In the filmography of the People's Artist of the film: "Chairman", "Old, Old Tale", "Mission in Kabul", "Shadow", "Affairs of bygone days ...", "The circus lights the lights", "How Ivan the Fool went for a miracle , "June 31", "They drove a chest of drawers along the streets ...", "Do not wake a sleeping dog", "Dreams of an idiot", "Classic", "Turn of the key", "1st Fast", "Park of the Soviet period", "Three musketeer "and others.

The name of Vladimir Etush is an era in Soviet cinema, and films with his participation are true classics of the world cultural heritage.

V.A. Etush is a full holder of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, has many awards and titles for his contribution to the development of Russian culture and for the highest acting skills.

Vladimir Abramovich Etush passed away on March 9, 2019. He was buried in the family grave at the Novodevichy cemetery.

List of performances with the participation of Vladimir Etush in Moscow. Where and in what performances does Vladimir Etush work

For more than 60 years, the true Vakhtangovite Vladimir Etush has been on stage in the performances of the famous theater. The artistic director of the Shchukin Theater School, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War - Vladimir Abramovich is an actor who always "holds" the audience.

Vladimir Etush was born in Moscow in 1922, but the documents say 1923. There was such a practice, to record boys a year later, and it turned out that the People's Artist of the USSR was two years of birth. Etush became interested in theater at school. I entered the directing department at GITIS - did not pass, but became a volunteer in the first year of the Shchukin school.

Like all students, Vladimir Abramovich had a reservation, but he volunteered for the front. He was sent to the school of military translators in Stavropol, then there were heavy battles as part of a rifle regiment in the mountains of Ossetia and Kabarda, the liberation of Rostov-on-Don, Ukraine. For courage, Etush was awarded the Order of the Red Star, medals. In 1943, he was seriously wounded near Zaporozhye, received the 2nd group of disability and was discharged. In 1944, he recovered at the theater school.

The actor himself calls himself "a comic tragedian and a tragic comedian." He began his theatrical career with the performance of characteristic age roles, such as the servant Luns in the play "Two of Verona" by Shakespeare. The actor's great success was the role of Coupeau, full of drama, in Zola's Trap. Etush's talent in Moliere's "Bourgeois in the Nobility" shone on all sides. Today the audience applauds the master in the performances of the Vakhtangov Theater "The Victim Goldiner", "The Wharf", "Okaemovy days" - Vladimir Abramovich plays superbly, to the point of "goose bumps", putting extraordinary strength and wisdom in his heroes.

In both theater and cinema, Etush confirmed that "there are no small roles." The phrases of his characters became winged. Comrade Saakhov from "Prisoner of the Caucasus", rogue Shpak in "Ivan Vasilyevich changes his profession" by Leonid Gaidai, Karabas-Barabas in "The Adventures of Buratino" by Leonid Nechaev - Etush made the audience fall in love with him with his brilliant sense of humor and one hundred percent hit in the image and incredible negative charm.

He is adored by women - imposing, bright, he has always been in the spotlight. With his wife, Nina Krainova, Vladimir Abramovich lived 48 happy years. But before meeting her, the actor was married twice, to Ninel Myshkova and Elena Izmailova, was fond of his student Lyudmila Chursina. The fourth wife of the actor was the English teacher Elena Etush, his devoted fan, whom he met at the theater.

The daughter and grandson of Vladimir Etush live in America.

A matter of honor. They searched for the play for a long time: it did not correspond to the scale of the actor, then to his image, then in general to the tasks of the theater. Until, finally, the future director of the production caught sight of the eternal story with the name "While she was dying", which was quite beloved by theaters, especially entreprise theaters.

The daughter (in a brilliant performance), who in all respects has secured the status of an "old maid", for the sake of the momentary happiness of a dying mother is ready for almost any lie and invention. Namely: to assure the mother of his own happiness in his personal life, and even to give the granddaughter that has been hidden for many years. The plot is melodramatic, banal, simple - but that is why it is beautiful: it easily clings to the necessary strings of the soul and touches the heart. The fictitious groom (ironic and intelligent) suddenly appears on the doorstep of the apartment himself by mistake - and will never leave. The granddaughter summoned for a fee (impudent and deliberately cheeky) really finds happiness with this family - a happy ending reigns both on stage and in the auditorium.

It was assumed that the role of the mother will be played, of course, Etush, and in Vakhtangov they did not follow the path of the now fashionable drag show in the art, but changed the play, keeping the male actor, although wearing a beautiful woman's dress. According to Ivanov, the character Etusha- a former actor, now a firefighter, in charge of safety in the theater, who knows all the performances by heart and by the sole decision of the director was approved for the role of mother when the actress who played her did not have time to return from the tour. From that, the comic nature of the situation is further enhanced - Etush plays a fireman who plays an old woman. A kind of theater in the theater. The Vakhtangov Theater itself, on whose stage the performance is taking place, in some scenes is pretty ironic about itself and the current problems of any repertoire theater, which captivates the viewer even more. He either shares his innermost secrets, showing behind the scenes in some episodes, or adds inner jokes to the actors' remarks, making it possible not only to laugh, but also to touch the hitherto unknown.

As a result, a unique and absolutely warm, tube performance, as music lovers say, turned out. It finally again uses the "circle", which has been rejected for a long time by modern directors-suppliers of the theater, immediately creating some kind of special mood, very simple and at the same time cozy decorations are used and, most importantly, the most important thing that is in it is amazing, sincere play of the acting troupe. The ability to put a simple story so simply and easily is a great success and long-term, unconditional success.
