The legendary show “12 Evil Spectators” will reappear on Russian MTV after a break of eight years. The first issue of the updated project will be released on Friday, April 14. “360” spoke with participants in the show from the “golden era” of the 2000s and found out whether the revived “viewers” will be able to regain their former popularity.
MTV Russia began broadcasting in 1998 and quickly formed a new generation, instilling in young Russians a love of world pop culture. At first, the channel simply broadcast video clips - after all, even this was a novelty for Russians. However, very quickly MTV had a program program - much was taken from the American older brother, but still had a Russian flavor. Thus, the television program “12 Angry Viewers” did not take root on New York MTV, but its Russian analogue “12 Angry Viewers” in its original format lasted three years and was dearly loved by both guests and television viewers. Later project was rebooted twice, but did not live up to the first two seasons.
The rules of the program are simple - 12 “spectators” in the studio discuss music videos that have not yet been seen by the world. And then they make their verdict.
Among the first hosts of “Evil” was then still a journalism student, Yana Churikova. Now she is on the list of channel leaders, but even despite the high position and the obvious pile of things to do, she agreed to host the updated “Spectators”.
Among the participants in the upcoming episode are MTV legend Alexander Anatolyevich, mentor of the “Dancing” show Miguel, singer Valeria with her husband Joseph Prigozhin, rapper Husky, presenter Alena Vodonaeva, media director of Yandex.Zen Daniil Trabun, head of the special correspondents department of Meduza Alexander Gorbachev and others . Guests will discuss clips from the new album of Ukrainian artist Ivan Dorn.
At one time, among the “jurors” and “defendants” in the program there were very different people- the epoch-making rapper Decl, the Agatha Christie group, musician Yuri Loza, singers Larisa Dolina, Tatyana Bulanova and many others. We will see the new show only tomorrow, but today “360” decided to find out from the “veterans” of “12 Evil Viewers” what they expect from the reborn show.
According to Yuri Loza, the “reincarnation” of the show is not a very good idea and only speaks of the lack of fresh ideas within the holding.
“Any project that once caused a reaction and was popular must be relaunched after some time. There is a great lack of creativity on television. It’s not even about success, they need to fill the airwaves with something, but there are no new thoughts,” says the musician.
Loza visited the Spectators only once. According to the musician, he would never participate in a TV show a second time, and he has his own reasons for this.
I visited them once and will not go again. What are angry spectators? Why should anyone be evil? When you name a show, you immediately set yourself a format. What if everything is good and pleasant, if there is nothing to be angry about? And you have already been called an evil spectator, you are obliged to comply - whether there is a reason or not. The viewer has now become much angrier than in the days when the program was first broadcast. Nobody wants to start themselves, everyone wants to look for the speck in someone else's eye, so, of course, this program will be a success. If only they had invited other great people - Madonna, for example - then who would they invite...

The singer explained that he himself used to like to criticize and “add fuel to the fire,” but then he realized that this had a corrupting effect.
“I used to criticize everyone because I was young and stupid. This, of course, does not push a person forward. Now, thank God, I understand myself. Trying to rub someone's nose in the face by saying bad things about them is not a solution, you are just creating advertising. For me it is a waste of time to criticize someone. Now there will definitely be someone who will criticize,” Chaliapin shared.
Singer Tatyana Bulanova, who took part in the show in the early 2000s, is convinced that MTV is no longer the same and it is unlikely that it will be possible to bring back a bygone era, even with the help of such legendary programs.
