Allah is merciful and merciful. About the mercy of Allah. O Allah, Most Gracious and Merciful

Each sura from the Koran begins with “the name of Allah, the Gracious, to everyone in this world and only to the believers in the next world.”

If Almighty Allah Himself is merciful, having power and might over every thing to take revenge and punish, then man should try all the more to be merciful, because man is the most beloved creation of Allah.

Mercy- this is the key to the heart of every person, it is creation, unification, gentleness. Punishing, lashing out at someone or yelling at someone is easy, but at the most angry moment, showing patience and forgiving another person, moreover, forgetting all grievances and just saying a kind word is very difficult. It’s not for nothing that people say: “It takes years to build, but several hours to destroy.”

Let's imagine that we ourselves found ourselves in an unpleasant situation or accidentally caused damage to another, for example, scratched a car, etc., then what kind of reaction would we want: screams, indignation? Or would you like to see in front of you a person with an adequate reaction, calm and polite? Of course, the second one.

It is much easier to show mercy and restraint if a person puts himself in the place of another person and imagines what kind of reaction he himself would like.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “ He who does not forgive will not be forgiven " That is, if a person is forgiving, then Allah will forgive him, inshaAllah. Mercy and mercy today are what our society lacks, because where there is mercy, there is no murder and hatred.

One day a group of Jews asked permission to come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When they approached, they said: “Samu alaika (death to you).” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Waalaikum (to you too),” and Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who was nearby, could not restrain herself and said: “Death to you and the curse of Allah on you!!!” To which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Allah has obliged us to be lenient in every matter.” To which Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) objected: “You heard what they said to you,” and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: “I answered them” (Imam al-Bukhari, No. 2927; Imam Muslim, No. 2165).

Sometimes we don’t even need to be seriously offended or hurt by something for us to harbor anger at our opponent for a long time.

There is an elementary formula in Islam: to live in such a way that you will not be ashamed to stand before Allah on the Day of the Great Judgment. And we will appear before Him sooner or later. So don’t act towards another person in a way that you would not want to be treated towards you.

This world is not eternal, and a person lives for some decades and goes into eternal existence, a person must be able to win while losing. How is it?

This is when a person in this world remains disadvantaged in something or, limiting himself, gives priority to the interests of another person, as the prophets, righteous people and true theologians did. In the eternal world he will receive reward and eternal happiness for this.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said: “ Allah forgives the merciful, forgive Allah's creations on earth, and Allah will forgive you. ».

May Allah help us.

Praise be to Allah, the Beneficent and the Merciful, Who ordered people to be compassionate and merciful to each other and made this quality a sign of Iman.

We praise Allah for His gifts that He constantly bestows on us.

And we testify that there is no other deity worthy of worship besides Him, He has no partners or co-owners. We testify that our Prophet Muhammad is a faithful servant of Allah, His messenger and leader of all mankind, who guided people on the straight path of truth.

We ask Allah to bless and send peace to our Prophet Muhammad, his family and all his companions, as well as all those who followed them doing good deeds, until the Day of Judgment.

Slaves of Allah! I exhort you and myself to fear God. Allah Almighty said:

“Verily, Allah is with those who fear God and who do good.”

Allah also said:

“Give joy to My servants who listen to the words and follow the best of them.”

Dear brothers and sisters. Islam is a religion of cohesion, unity, empathy and compassion for each other. This religion calls for kindness and mercy. Allah has made mercy a special quality that distinguishes true Muslims and owners of sincere Faith. Allah (Great and Glorified is He) said:

ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ

“And you should be one of those who believed and encouraged one another to patience and encouraged one another to show mercy.”

This is a verse from Surah al-Balad (Sura “The City”), which contains a description of the owners of the right side. Who are they, the owners of the right side? These are the people who deserve Paradise - believers, sincere in their Faith; they are kind to orphans, pity the poor and show compassion for all living things.

"Such are the people of the right side."

Allah has promised to bestow His mercy, contentment and forgiveness on those people who have kindness and compassion in their hearts. Our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

الرَّاحِمُونَ يَرْحَمُهُمُ الرَّحْمَنُ، ارْحَمُوا أَهْلَ الأَرْضِ يَرْحَمْكُمْ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ

“The Merciful Allah will show His mercy to merciful people; be merciful to the inhabitants of the earth, and He who is in heaven will be merciful to you.”

Also, Allah (Great and Glorified is He) threatened those who do not show compassion for people that He will deprive them of His mercy. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

مَنْ لاَ يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لاَ يَرْحَمْهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

“Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah (Great and Glorified is He) will not show His mercy to him.”

He also said:

“Only a lost person is deprived of mercy.”

Dear Muslims, mutual kindness to each other is a quality implanted by the Almighty in the hearts of people from birth; it encourages a person to do good deeds to others, to be sensitive to people’s misfortunes, to feel their grief, not to remain indifferent to their misfortunes and to try to protect them from this.

Mercy is a sign that there is life in the heart, it is a sign of the nobility of the soul. This is a quality that brings happiness to a person in both worlds.

“Allah Almighty (Great and Glorified is He) will say on the Day of Judgment:

- O son of Adam, I was sick, but you did not visit Me.

The slave will say:

- O my Lord, how can I visit You in illness, since You are the Lord of the worlds?!

Allah will say:

“Didn’t you know that such and such My servant was sick, but you didn’t visit him, and didn’t you know that if you had visited him, you would have found Me with him?”

O son of Adam, I asked you for food, but you did not feed Me.

The slave will say:

- O my Lord, how can I feed you, since You are the Lord of the worlds?!

Allah will say:

“Don’t you know that such and such a servant of mine asked you for food, but you did not feed him?” But don’t you know that if you fed him, you would find a reward for it with Me?

O son of Adam, I asked you for a drink, but you did not give Me something to drink.

The slave will say:

- O my Lord, how can I give You a drink, since You are the Lord of the worlds?!

Allah will say:

“Don’t you know that such and such a servant of mine asked you for a drink, but you did not give him something to drink?” But don’t you know that if you had given him something to drink, you would have found a reward for it with Me?”

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يُنْجِيَهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ كُرَبِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ، فَلْيُنَفِّسْ عَنْ مُعْسِرٍ، أَوْ يَضَعْ عَنْهُ

“Whoever wants Allah to save him from disasters on the Day of Resurrection, then let him give respite to a debtor who finds himself in a difficult situation, or forgive him his debt.”

So let's be merciful to each other.

Dear brothers, dear sisters, you are people of prayer and prayer, it is you who should carry these wonderful qualities in your hearts - kindness and compassion.

A person can show mercy in many areas of his life, if not all. Here are some important examples of mercy that should take place in the life of a believer:

  • Mercy towards parents , obedience to them, kindness towards them and prayer for them, as Allah Almighty commanded us in the Quran:

وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ وَقُل رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيراً

“Bow before them the wing of humility according to your mercy and say: “Lord! Have mercy on them, because they raised me as a child."

  • Also mercy towards small children , sympathy and tenderness towards them, wishing them well and good upbringing. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا وَيُوَقِّرْ كَبِيرَنَا

“He is not one of us who does not show mercy to the little ones and does not honor the elders.”

  • Mercy between relatives , which consists in strengthening family ties, in good relations between all loved ones and in mutual assistance. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

الرَّحِمُ شُجْنَةٌ مِنَ الرَّحْمَنِ، فَمَنْ وَصَلَهَا وَصَلَهُ اللَّهُ، وَمَنْ قَطَعَهَا قَطَعَهُ اللَّهُ

  • Mercy for orphans - this is what softens the hearts of the sons of Adam and pleases Allah Almighty. It is reported that one person complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about the hardness of his heart, and He said to him:

إِنْ أَرَدْتَ أَنْ يَلِينَ قَلْبُكَ فَأَطْعِمِ الْمِسْكِينَ، وَامْسَحْ رَأْسَ الْيَتِيمِ

“If you want your heart to soften, then feed the poor and pat the orphan on the head.”

Also, one of the important manifestations of mercy among people is the mercy of the rich towards the needy. The strong must have compassion for the weak. Those who live in prosperity and health must have compassion for those who experience adversity and illness. The head of the family must be merciful to his family, the boss must be merciful to his subordinates. A teacher should be kind to his students.

You can also name many other examples of mercy in our everyday life, but if a person’s heart accepts this quality and is saturated with it, then it itself will tell its owner where and when to apply it.

Dear Muslims, the charity to which our faith encourages us is not limited to just showing kindness to our fellow believers. The mercy of a Muslim extends to people of other faiths. Salvation during disasters, helping in need, supporting the weak - all these deeds have no boundaries, they are worthy deeds of a Muslim in relation to all the children of Adam. And this has always been the hallmark of our Religion. And one of the most important manifestations of mercy towards representatives of other faiths is calling them to Islam. A Muslim must convey this blessed knowledge to people, so that people see the beauty of our Faith, understand its foundations and noble goals. Islam teaches us to call people to the path of truth with kind words, good attitude and wisdom.

It is reported that Asma, the daughter of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her), said: “My mother, who was still a polytheist at that time, came to me. It was during the life of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and I asked him a question: “My mother came to me and wants to meet me, should I keep in touch with her?” And he said: “Yes, keep in touch with her.”

Allah, our Lord, we ask You to make us merciful to each other, make our hearts kind and compassionate, make our speeches pleasant and welcoming, and our deeds good and sincere.

Help us and support us on the path of obedience to You and on the path that Your Messenger showed us. Help us to obey those whom You have commanded to obey, so that we may fulfill Your covenant in the Quran:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي الأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ

“O you who believe! Obey Allah, obey the Messenger and the rulers from among you."

Dear brothers and sisters, fear Allah properly, be God-fearing and remember Him always, both alone with yourself and among people.

Know: Allah has given our community empathy and compassion, which are one of the central qualities of a believer. Throughout their history, Muslims have always been famous for their kindness, both among themselves and in relations with representatives of other religions and peoples. And what is happening today among some Muslims - civil strife and mutual hostility, leading to hostility and bloodshed - all these are the machinations of Satan, with which he wants to kindle anger in the hearts of people and wipe out dignity from the face of the earth.

But in no difficult situation should a Muslim forget who he is and what his religion is. Nothing should embitter him to such an extent that he betrays the nobility of his Faith. Because our mercy is not just feelings in the soul and not just ink on paper, our mercy is submission to the Merciful Allah, the Living and Almighty, and our submission to Him should not weaken under the onslaught of difficulties and trials.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي تَوَادِّهِمْ وَتَعَاطُفِهِمْ وَتَرَاحُمِهِمْ مَثَلُ الْجَسَدِ إِذَا اشْتَكَى مِنْهُ عُضْوٌ تَدَاعَى سَائِرُ الْجَسَدِ بِالسَّهَرِ وَالْحُمَّى

“Believers in mutual love among themselves, mercy and courtesy towards each other are like a single body, and if one organ complains, then the rest of the body responds with insomnia and fever.”

Allah (Great and Glorified is He) said:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا

“Verily, Allah and His angels bless the Prophet. O you who believe! Bless him and greet him with peace."

O Allah, bless and send peace and grace to our leader and Prophet Muhammad, as well as to his family and all his companions.

Send Your blessing upon the righteous caliphs who led the affairs of the Muslims after him: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali, as well as all the noble companions and all those who followed them until the Day of Judgment.

O Allah, we ask You to fill our hearts with mercy towards Your slaves and give us the ability to do good deeds so that You will be pleased with us. Show us mercy, make our hearts kind to Your creations and submissive to You, so that we thank You for everything that You have endowed us with, for everything that You have given us.

O Allah, we ask You to save our brothers and sisters in Syria and Iraq from disasters and suffering. Protect them from hunger, cold and disease, protect them and protect them, comfort them in sorrow, dispel their sadness, calm their hearts. Endow them with blessings, grant them peace and tranquility, and we ask the same for all Muslims around the world.

Allah, do not leave us with such a sin that You would not forgive us.

Do not leave any anxiety that You do not dispel.

Do not leave us such debts that You would not help us repay.

Do not leave any disease that You would not heal.

And do not leave among our dead those whom You would not forgive.

And do not leave such a need from which You would not deliver us. And give us relief.

Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Next World and protect us from the punishment of Hell.

Allah, we ask You for Paradise and all those deeds and words that bring us closer to it. And we turn to Your protection from Hell and from all deeds and words that bring us closer to it.

O Allah, we ask You for Paradise for ourselves and for our parents and for everyone to whom we are indebted, for everyone who has done something good for us, and for all Muslims.

O Allah, forgive all Muslims and Muslim women - both the living and those who have already left this world.

Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

Anyone who is deprived of understanding the meaning of “mercy” in religion is deprived of understanding the meaning of “mercy” in life. And the one who knows the true meaning of “mercy” will have an easier path in religion.

This topic is so vast that I think each of us will face the difficulty of adequately revealing all the facets and understandings of “the mercy of Allah.” And I am one of those who, in hope, will try to bring the true essence of this topic closer to our hearts. I believe that a person who is deprived of mercy towards the world around him, and first of all towards himself, is deprived of happiness and joy, which cannot be found except through mercy. In such a situation, nothing will help the creation of Allah except turning to the Only and Merciful Allah with a prayer on the lips.

The hadith says when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spoiled and kissed his grandchildren Hasan and Hussein, one of the companions said: “I have ten children, but I have never kissed any of them,” to which the Prophet (peace be upon him) blessings upon him) replied: “What can I do to you if Allah has removed mercy from your heart.” This quality of Allah is the same as his name, which was revealed in the title of the sura “Ar-Rahman”. Another hadith says that the mercy that is given to all people on earth is only one hundredth of the mercy that the Almighty has. One day, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), returning from a hike, saw a woman who had lost her infant child and was literally rushing from side to side, trying to find her child. And when she finally found it, her joy knew no bounds, she hugged and kissed her child, holding him tightly to her chest. Seeing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “ Allah Almighty is more merciful to his slaves than this woman is to her child. ».

Allah's mercy precedes his wrath. The Almighty created all living things by His mercy. This is the mercy that we mention when reading every surah of the Qur'an. All people will enter heaven only by the grace of Allah, and even the best person is our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

In Arabic, the word "mercy" comes from the root "rahma", which is the same as the word for "mother's womb" - "rahm". This emphasizes that women are endowed with grace that men are not endowed with. Being pregnant, a woman bears her child and in pain gives birth to him, who subsequently should not forget about the mercy from his parents and should always try to repay love and mercy towards his parents.

In our ability to feel, rejoice, love, empathize. Mercy combines to make up many qualities such as patience, kindness, love, compassion, pity, and even reprimand and punishment at the right time. This is similar to the attitude of a mother towards her child, who, out of good intentions, warns against harm and evil, punishing her child for educational purposes.

And those people who deprive people of mercy and instill in them anger, callousness and hatred are like the assistants of Satan, who is trying with all his might to distance people from the mercy of Allah. This indicates to us that the enemy of Allah, who is not given the mercy of Allah, is also an enemy for us. In the Quran, Allah Almighty said (meaning): “ Truly, the devil is your enemy, so treat him as an enemy "(Sura Fatir verse 6).

We should ask Allah to grant mercy to our hearts and never despair of His mercy, no matter what happens. In the Quran, Allah Almighty said (meaning): And do not lose hope in the mercy of Allah, for only unbelievers despair of the mercy of Allah "(Sura Yusuf ayat-87).

In conclusion, another example from the life of Allah’s greatest mercy for all worlds (peace and blessings be upon him). This man had an amount of mercy that was not given to anyone else except him, and which he showed to the warring inhabitants of Mecca on the day of its opening. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) showed mercy to them, giving them the opportunity to leave the city as free people. And these were the people who fought with him for so many years, bringing him pain and disappointment, quarreling with people close to him.

I think the main thing is the opportunity to acquire the qualities of mercy and, what is also very important, not to lose mercy while trying to acquire other qualities of virtue.

This is just one line from the Book of Mercy, which I was able to dedicate to my dear readers, in the hope that each of us can receive at least a small part of Allah's mercy.

Suimbaeva Asel

Allah is so merciful that, as I heard, He loves us more than 70 mothers love their child. Is it true? Clarify please!

Answer:
All praise belongs to Allah!

Allah is holy and great! - is Gracious and Merciful. He is the most merciful of all. His Grace is all-encompassing. He said: “...and my Grace embraces every thing”(Holy Quran, 7: 156).

In the Sahih of Muslim, it is reported from the words of Abu Huraira that the Prophet - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him! - said: “Allah has a hundred parts of Mercy. One of them He invested in people, jinn, animals and insects. Because of her, they show each other compassion and mercy. For the same reason, a wild animal shows pity for its cub. The remaining ninety-nine parts of Mercy Allah has set aside [to] show it to His servants on the Day of Resurrection.”

Muslim (6908).

Narrated by ‘Umar b. al-Khattaba - may Allah be pleased with him! - who said: “To the Messenger of Allah - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him! - they brought the prisoners. Among the prisoners there was a woman who was looking for [something]. When she found her little son among the prisoners, she grabbed him, hugged him, and then breastfed him. Then the Messenger of Allah - peace and blessings be upon him! - said to us: “Do you think this woman will throw her child into the fire?” We replied: “No... we swear by Allah! She will never leave him voluntarily,” and the Messenger of Allah - peace and blessings be upon him! - said: “Allah is more merciful to His servants than this woman is to her child.”

The text of the hadith was agreed upon by al-Bukhari (5653) and Muslim (6912).

Also, a manifestation of Allah’s Mercy towards His slaves is that He sent messengers and revealed scriptures and laws so that the life of slaves would be built on the basis of standards of prudence, far from poverty, hardship and constraint. The Almighty said: “We sent you only as a mercy for the worlds” (Holy Quran, 21: 107).

The mercy of the Almighty is that on the Day of Judgment it will bring His believing slaves into Paradise, and no one will enter Paradise only thanks to their deeds.

Prophet - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him! - said: “No one will be brought into Paradise by his deeds.” He was asked: “And even you, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied: “And even me, unless Allah covers me with Mercy. Act wisely, try to be close [to perfection], and let none of you dream of death, because if he is a good person, then he has the opportunity to do even more good, and if he is a bad person, then he has the opportunity to improve !

Reported by al-Bukhari (5349) and Muslim (7042).

The believer must remain in a state between the hope of Allah's Mercy and the fear of His Punishment. Allah says: “Inform My servants that I am Forgiving, Merciful, but My punishment is a painful punishment” (Holy Quran, 15: 49 - 50).

As for your words that Allah loves us more than seventy mothers love their child, Allah knows better about this. It is enough for us to know that the Mercy of Allah embraces every thing.

O Allah, have mercy on us with Your Mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful!

Allah Almighty said in the Holy Quran:

لاَ تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ

“Do not lose hope in the mercy of Allah. Verily, Allah forgives sins completely, for He is Forgiving, Merciful.”

(Az-Zumar, 39/53)

“Before you there was one people, among whom lived a man who killed ninety-nine people. One day he began asking people about the most knowledgeable scientist among them. They pointed him to one monk. He went to him and, when he arrived, said:

- I killed ninety-nine people, will my repentance be accepted?

The monk answered him that his repentance would not be accepted. Hearing this, he, without hesitation, killed the monk. The number of his victims reached one hundred. After some time, he again began to look for the great scientist to get advice from him. And they pointed him to one great scientist, to whom he immediately went. Having come to him, he asked:

- I killed a hundred people, will my repentance be accepted?

The scientist replied:

- Yes, nothing can be an obstacle to your repentance. Go to such and such a place, people there worship Allah. Stay there to live and worship Him together with everyone. Do not return to your homeland, because it is a bad place.

Having received the scientist's instructions, he set off on his journey, but halfway there he was overtaken by death. The Angels of Mercy and the Angels of Torment began to argue among themselves about his fate. The first angel said:

- He came here having made sincere repentance.

Another said:

- This man hasn't done anything good.

During their dispute, an Angel appeared in the form of a man, they took him as a judge in order to resolve the dispute. The angel advised them to measure the distance to the places where he had left and where he was going. If the deceased turns out to be closer to the area where he was heading, it means that the Angels of Mercy will take him away. They did just that. The man found himself closer to the area and was carried away by the Angels of Mercy.”

(Riyadus-Salihin)

A follower of the Prophet’s companions, Tabiyin Abban ibn Ayyam, reports:

“In Basra, I saw a funeral procession in which only four people took part. I was very surprised that in such a large city only four people participate in the funeral prayer - janaza. I decided that I would be fifth and joined them. After the deceased was buried, I saw a joyfully smiling woman nearby. I asked the reason for her joy. She answered:

"This is my son. He committed all kinds of sins. Recently he fell ill and lay in bed for three days. And this morning he bequeathed to me:

“Don’t tell anyone about my death, no one will come anyway, but they will only rejoice at my death. Write Islamic certificates on this ring - Shahada, put it in my shroud. Perhaps Allah Almighty will have mercy on me. Then step on my face and say:

“This is the punishment for those who disobeyed and went against the commands of Allah.”

After you bury me, raise your hands and recite the dua:

“O Allah! I am pleased with my son, and You be pleased with him.”

So he bequeathed. After his death, I did everything as he asked. And now, when I read the dua prayer, I heard my son’s voice: “Mommy! “I appeared before the Lord, who is infinitely Generous and Merciful to Muslims, and not stingy,” so I smiled.”

(Al-Hikam Al-Atail)

“One hot summer, near a retail store, taking a child by the hand, one man shouted into the crowd:

Who lost this child?

A woman ran out of the crowd and, approaching the child, took him in her arms and hugged him. She pressed him to her chest, shielding him from the scorching sun, and exclaimed:

Oh my child!

The people around, seeing all this, shed tears. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) approached and was told about everything that had happened here. After listening, he said:

- You were surprised by the mercy and compassion of this woman for her child. But Allah Almighty is even more merciful to all of you!”

Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Allah has a hundred mercies, of which He sent down only one to earth. The feeling of mercy and compassion that people, jinn, birds and wild animals show to each other is all a manifestation of only one mercy of Allah sent down to earth. Allah has left ninety-nine mercies for subsequent eternal life, with them He will show mercy to His servants.”

(Muslim)

Qassama bin Zubay narrated:

“Once Prophet Ibrahim (alaihis salam) thought that he was the most merciful of people. At that moment, Allah raised him above the earth, giving him the opportunity to see the deeds and condition of His slaves. Seeing what was happening, Prophet Ibrahim (alaihis salam) immediately read the dua prayer:

O Allah! O my Lord, destroy them!

Allah Almighty answered him:

O Ibrahim! I am more merciful than you. Now come down, maybe they will leave their disobedience and repent.”

Ali ibn Abu Talib (radiyallahu anhu) reported that the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

“When the Almighty showed Ibrahim the heavens and the earth, he saw a man who was going against the commands of Allah. Ibrahim(alaihis salaam) asked Allah to destroy him. Then he saw another sinner and also prayed to the Lord for his destruction. Both people died. A little later, he again saw the disobedient man and again cursed him and begged him to be destroyed. This man also died. Several people died this way. Then Allah Almighty sent down a revelation:

- Oh Ibrahim! Undoubtedly, you are a person whose prayers are accepted. Do not ask for the destruction of My slaves! Because there are three features:

  1. 1. When a slave repents, it is accepted by Me.
  2. 2. Perhaps from the descendants of these people there will come a generation that will not forget Me.
  3. 3. On the Day of Judgment these slaves will be forgiven or punished by Me.”

Sad bin Bilal said:

“On the Day of Judgment, Allah Almighty will order to bring from the fire of Hell two people who were there because of the sins they committed. When they appear before Allah, He will say:

I don't oppress anyone. You receive punishment for what you have done.

Having said this, Allah orders them to be returned back to Hell. One of them will walk quickly, and the other will walk slowly and heavily, as if not wanting to walk. Allah will order them back and ask:

Why is one of you walking fast and the other walking slowly?

The one who walked quickly will say:

I didn’t want to disobey Your order here either, that’s why I went so quickly.

And the other will answer:

I have a very good opinion of You. And I walked slowly, because I thought that having taken me out of Hell once, You would not lead me there a second time.

Allah Almighty will say:

I have forgiven you both, go straight to Heaven!”

Anas (radiyallahu anhu) reported the words of the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam):

“On the Day of Judgment it will be said:

- O community of the Prophet Muhammad! I have forgiven you what you owe Me. You will also forgive each other. And by My mercy enter Paradise!”

(Ihya ulumud-din)

The slave must feel fear and beg for mercy, must hope for the forgiveness and mercy of Allah Almighty. Fearing Allah's displeasure and punishment, he must avoid committing sins and be attentive to what is forbidden and what is permitted. To experience fear means to fear the displeasure and punishment of Allah the Great. To beg for mercy means to hope for mercy and hope for the forgiveness of Allah Almighty. Fear and hope are like two wings for a person.

Allah Almighty said in the Holy Quran:

قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ لاَ تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ

“O My servants who committed sins by crossing the boundaries of what is permitted!Don't lose hope in Allah's mercy. Verily, Allah forgives sins completely, for He is Forgiving, Merciful.”
