With this tool, the player can select a specific tank and check how vulnerable any of its parts are. For the test, you can choose the model of the tank, the type of projectile, the distance and direction of impact. A complex algorithm will calculate the probability of ricochet, penetration and a list of modules that the projectile will hit inside the attacked tank.


Aviation has been replenished with new aircraft models and new mechanics. Guided bombs made their debut in the game for the first time. The control system will allow you to slightly adjust the bomb's flight path, which is ideal for destroying ships. The new carrier-based attack aircraft will take the highest position in the American aviation development tree FJ-4B ‘Fury'. Soviet Il-28 got an assault modification Il-28Sh, Germany received the most unusual model - Messerschmitt Bf.109Z- a fighter made up of two fuselages. Also, a Romanian-made aircraft appeared in the game.

All planes, tanks and new sounds are ready to please brave commanders

Gaijin Entertainment announces the release of update 1.61 called "Road of Glory" for War Thunder. This means that new models of ground and air vehicles have appeared in the game, among which are the iconic tanks of the Cold War era and the most powerful and fastest fighter of the Thunderbolt family, a crew replenishment system, new regimental battles and much more.

Among the combat vehicles added to the game along with the update, the M60A1 and T-62 tanks stand out. Born in the arms race in the 60s, they will occupy top positions in the lines of medium tanks in the USA and the USSR. The M60A1 received improved armor and increased frontal angles. Players will be able to use more aggressive tactics and not be afraid of direct hits of enemy shells in the tower. The Soviet T-62 was created as a fighter for enemy armored vehicles and became a further development of the T-54 and T-55. An ultra-modern 115 mm gun, a new chassis and rational armor made the T-62 an unrivaled tank killer.

The American P-47N-15, the most advanced of all serial Thunderbolt modifications, has appeared in the line of War Thunder fighters. The new combat vehicles also included the large-caliber German Sturmpanzer IV Brummbär self-propelled gun, the Japanese Ki-100 fighter, a formidable opponent of the American Hellcats and Mustangs, the Canadian M4A5 tank, as well as several updated aircraft models.

In addition, a system for replenishing the crew of ground vehicles has appeared in all game modes. With the help of this mechanism, a vehicle still capable of fighting will be able to prepare for the next skirmish with the enemy, replacing a failed crew member with a reserve fighter. In Arcade mode, it will be possible to request replenishment at any point on the map, and if there is only one tanker left in the tank, replenishment is requested automatically, and one can only hope that the soldier will arrive in time. In the "Realistic" mode and in the "Simulator" mode, calling a fighter is possible only at the capture point and with at least two crew members in the ranks. It should be remembered that from the moment of the request until the moment the fighter arrives, the car will not be able to move, so it is worth choosing a protected position in advance to wait for reinforcements.

The system of regimental battles has also undergone significant changes. They acquired permanent seasons and an increased number of prizes. The first 20 regiments in the ranking will receive from 3,000 to 30,000 golden eagles. They will be supplemented by rewards that will be able to receive the 100 most productive squadrons of the season: unique decorators, decals and regalia.

Gaijin Entertainment has announced the release of update 1.67 "Storm" for the military online game. With it, the game will feature the cooperative mode of the same name, three new locations, as well as almost two dozen new models of vehicles, including unusual Japanese tanks!

The new co-op mode "Storm" will test the endurance of War Thunder pilots and tankers. In ground battles, players will have to repel one after another waves of enemy armored vehicles. In battle, players will be able to use both ground vehicles and aircraft. In air battles, fighter and attack aircraft pilots will defend their base, which will be attacked from all sides by enemy bombers. In both types of battles, each next wave will be stronger than the previous one, but well-coordinated teamwork and successful interceptions will allow you to hold out until the end of the battle and get a well-deserved reward.


19 new vehicle models. These included the British self-propelled guns FV4005. Its 183mm gun has become the largest caliber gun in the game so far, well ahead of even the KV-2 with its 152mm gun. The ranks of the Japanese ground vehicles recently added to the game have been replenished with three new vehicles, including the Type 60 APC self-propelled guns armed with ATGMs and the Type 95 Ro-Go multi-turreted tank. Three new maps - now more than 80 locations! In addition to the new aircraft, aviation enthusiasts will be pleased with the new map for air battles, the Guiana Plateau. The battle at this location begins at altitudes of more than 6000 meters above sea level, while the entire zone is divided into conditional "floors", each of which has its own goals and peculiar conditions for fighting. The artists were inspired to create the location by the unique flat-topped mountain Roraima. It was this place that Arthur Conan Doyle took as a basis in his cult novel The Lost World.



In addition to the aircraft map, the update will add two more new locations for mixed battles to the game. In The Ardennes, assault tanks will converge on the streets of an ancient Belgian city for possession of strategically important points, while anti-aircraft guns will try to prevent enemy bombers from striking, attacking from the many shelters of this hilly area. The second map, Phang Nga Bay, will take pilots and ship commanders to the coast of Thailand in the coming days as part of regular tests of naval battles on weekends. Being an avid lover of the look of German tanks, I spent a lot of time in World of Tanks. But at some point I quit this game - the gameplay got boring, and local developers got too lazy. WoT's main competitor, War Thunder, recently received a major update that caught my attention. And for good reason - update 1.67 brought me back to tank games.

As mentioned, I haven't touched any tank games for about 2-3 years. During this time, World of Tanks has changed a lot (as far as I heard), but WarThunder has not stood still. At one time I tried this game, and I didn’t really like it, but now it has been brought to mind and polished. First, a few words about the main gameplay.

Hardcore gameplay motivates to become better

Initially, the big difference between World of Tanks and War Thunder was the hardcore gameplay in the creation from Gaijin. A less random penetration system and a realistic tank behavior system were implemented a few years ago, and over time, all this was polished. On a heavy tank, you can get a one-shot from a medium vehicle. This will scare many away from the game, but such a system motivates you to become better - it teaches you how to use the features of the map for the so-called "positioning".

As experience shows, survival on the War Thunder map depends on the knowledge of the terrain and the experience of the player. You can take some kind of imba like the American T29 and stand so that one tower is visible, or you can carefully drive along the edge of the map and take the position of a sniper on the SPG. Variability is present, and its understanding comes gradually.

Regarding aircraft, I can say that personally I am not a fan of air battles. But in War Thunder, they are perhaps better implemented than other games. Large selection of real aircraft models, dynamic gameplay and the same hardcore. After all, these same developers once worked on the IL-2 Sturmovik series.

It so happened that my favorite nation in tank games got some very good vehicles. Germany branch got a great premium tank Ru 251. A very fast machine that balances well the entire line of German tanks. At medium ranks, Germany has almost no fast vehicles that could quickly take up positions in the first minutes of the battle. Now Ru 251 can do it.

This reconnaissance tank can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h in arcade mode, and even more in realistic mode. In a collision with even the most armored tanks, a penetrating gun, for which HEAT shells are available, will help. Of course, there is no smell of armor here, but the tank is dexterous and penetrating. In War Thunder update 1.67, I liked Ru 251 the most.

Another novelty in the German lineup was the self-propelled gun Sturmpanzer II. This amusing self-propelled gun is the real killer and bender on its battle rating. All thanks to the 150 mm cannon, which launches the most powerful high-explosive projectiles. They will become fatal for any vehicle that you encounter in battles. The local eight-cylinder engine makes it easy to change position - the main thing is not to get under fire. A funny feature of the "Sturmpanzer": the car rolls back slightly after a shot from its cannon - the power of the gun is felt. Little things like that add realism to the game.

Objective imba update - IS-6. This premium tank is definitely worth the money spent on it. This is a mobile heavy vehicle with good frontal armor and an excellent gun. Its only weak point is the mask of the gun. The tank can easily one-shot into it, but experienced players are unlikely to put this small area under attack.

The most interesting vehicle in terms of gameplay in the update is the Soviet anti-aircraft gun 29-K. In fact, this is a 76-mm anti-aircraft gun mounted on a good old YaG-10 truck. Such a mix was actually used during the Great Patriotic War. On the battlefields of War Thunder, such an anti-aircraft gun brings a lot of pleasure from the game. Firstly, it is fast - you can quickly change position. Secondly, her cannon is very powerful - it pierces almost everyone (except for the "Mouse"). And thirdly, it all looks pretty funny and unusual.

The rest of the cars are typical middle peasants. The American T34 loses a lot to the imbo T29. The "Barn" FV4005 is a fun vehicle that can penetrate any tank in the game, but its gameplay will disappoint many with a huge turret without armor. The Japanese were generally a bit of a joke by releasing the Type 60 ATM missile armored personnel carrier.

Solo mode for PvE

One big downside of many multiplayer games is the lack of a good solo mode for farming local currency on bots. Recently, War Thunder lost this problem. The so-called "Storm" mode appeared. It can only be played on airplanes so far. You can play alone against bots or with friends or random players.

The idea of ​​"Sturm" is as follows: in the case of aircraft, you need to protect your base from enemy bombers. Any equipment in the hangar participates. The developers encourage participation in the "Sturm" with separate rewards - amplifiers for farming. Thus, you can farm bots to upgrade vehicles if you don’t want to bother too much in standard battles, where you can fly away from the one-shot.

The main thing in "Sturm" is to kill bots as quickly as possible, but this is difficult to do. It is important to choose the right fast technique with a good weapon. Otherwise, you will be defeated. To be honest, the mode is not yet balanced, as the bots take out the base too quickly, and it is difficult to destroy enemy bombers, even if it is a computer. Soon there will be "Storm" for tanks.

What is the result?

All of the above is only part of a major update in War Thunder 1.67. The first big update of 2017 brought a lot of redesigned vehicle models - both tanks and planes. There are two new locations - one for air battles, and the second for ground. And much, much more that pleases. The guys from Gaijin properly support their game by developing the all-in-one concept. Soon, ships will go through testing, which will join the planes and tanks.

War Thunder is a multi-level game where everyone can find their favorite vehicle, their own style of play and their own mode. However, the network code remained "quirky". A few years ago, when I first got acquainted with this game, I met flying tanks, overturned cars and more. I saw it a couple of times in update 1.67. In general, this did not bother me much, since such bugs happened with other players.

You can also say that compared to World of Tanks, the creation of "snails" is much more hardcore, even in arcade game modes. This turns off a lot of players. But it is enough to spend about 50 battles, as even the most casual player will become an inveterate tanker and pilot.
