P about the assessment of marketers, when buying a gas boiler, people most often choose double-circuit wall boilers. Because a double-circuit wall-mounted gas boiler, firstly, does not take up space on the floor, and secondly, and this is the main advantage, the function of preparing hot water for household needs. The buyer does not need to additionally purchase any boiler or column. This is not necessary, because a double-circuit boiler performs two functions: heating water (and maintaining its set temperature) for the heating system and heating water for the hot water supply system (DHW).

Wall-mounted double-circuit gas boilers have a power range from 12 to 35 kW. A power of 35 kW is quite enough to heat rooms with an area of ​​350 - 400 sq.m. And in the preparation of hot water, a double-circuit gas boiler is in no way inferior to gas water heaters. Neither performance nor comfort. The capacity of the boilers is from 8 to 13 liters of hot water per minute. Double-circuit gas boilers are of two types: with a bithermic (“pipe in pipe”) heat exchanger and with separate heat exchangers (one for the heating system and the other for hot water). It must be said that replacing a bithermic heat exchanger is more expensive than replacing a DHW heat exchanger. This should also be taken into account when choosing a boiler. Like any other technique, gas boilers also “break”. By the way, the owner of the boiler should not forget about the annual after-sales service. And, as a rule, breakdowns happen at the most inopportune moment - during the heating season. And the worst thing is hard frost, and the service department is not coming to you for some reason. And if you come, then their services are not cheap. Therefore, if you feel the strength, capabilities and desire to figure out the device and the logic of your boiler yourself, we will help you with advice. And you may not always need a spare part to fix a breakdown.

And so, if you decide to repair the boiler yourself, you need to know the logic of its operation. The device of boilers of various trademarks similarly, we will consider everything using the example of the Ariston boiler (Ariston).

The logic of the boiler in heating mode

Consider step by step the operation of the boiler, using detailed diagram his devices.

    Command to turn on the boiler in heating mode

The command is given from the temperature sensor NTC1 (pos. 20, see diagram below) located on the boiler supply pipe. If you use additional equipment to control the operation of the boiler (timer, thermostat, room programmer, module remote control), then the command to turn on the heating is given by this device.

Consider the option when the command is given from the NTC1 sensor. At this moment, the actual coolant temperature determined by the sensor and the temperature set on the control panel are compared. And, if the actual temperature is less than the set one, the boiler starts the heating mode. The activation of the mode is accompanied by the indication of the LEDs on the front panel of the boiler or the appearance of information on the display (if your boiler has one).

In standby mode for turning on the heating, the three-way valve (pos. 10, see diagram below) is in the DHW position. That is, the outlet of the secondary DHW heat exchanger is open, and the inlet of the pump and the heating system is closed. At the moment the heating mode is turned on, voltage is applied to the contacts of the stepper motor, which changes the position of the three-way valve: the outlet from the secondary DHW heat exchanger is closed and the suction cavity of the pump with the heating system opens. The change in the position of the three-way valve does not occur instantly, but within 7 seconds after the command to turn on.

3. Turn on the pump

After the three-way valve is switched to heating mode, voltage is supplied to the circulation pump (pos. 7, see diagram below). And the pump begins to supply the coolant from the heating system to the main heat exchanger of the boiler.

4. Turn on the fan

The fan relay on the control board drives the fan (key 25, see diagram below) to operate.

The evacuation (removal) of possible remaining exhaust gases begins.

Consider step by step the operation of the boiler, using the same scheme.

1. Switch on hot water preparation

Turning on the boiler in the DHW mode fixes the flow sensor (pos. 9, see the diagram above) and feeds it to the boiler control board.

2. Turn on the three-way valve

In standby mode, the three-way valve (pos. 10, see diagram above) is always in the DHW position. And if the inclusion in the DHW mode occurred when the boiler was operating in heating mode, then the three-way valve will move to the DHW position (DHW priority).

3. Turn on the pump

Voltage is applied to the contacts of the circulation pump (pos. 7, see the diagram above), it turns on and supplies the coolant from the secondary heat exchanger (pos. 16, see the diagram above) to the main one (pos. 2, see the diagram above).

4. Turn on the fan

The fan relay on the control board actuates the fan (pos. 25, see diagram above), and the pneumorelay - smoke pressure switch (pos. 1, see diagram above) monitors the efficiency of evacuation (removal) of exhaust gases (this happens in turbocharged boilers ).

5. Exhaust gas removal control

In turbocharged boilers with a closed combustion chamber, the efficiency of removing combustion products is “monitored” by a pneumatic relay (smoke pressure switch) (pos. 1, see diagram below). If everything corresponds to the norm, the contacts of the pressure switch close and a command is sent to ignite the burner. If not, then the operation of the boiler is blocked by the control board.

In atmospheric boilers with an open combustion chamber, the temperature draft sensor “monitors” the removal of combustion products. If suddenly it is cut off or triggered by overheating due to poor exhaust gases, then the control board also blocks the boiler. 6. Burner ignition After closing the contacts of the pressure switch, the gas valve (pos. 18, see the diagram above) is activated and passes the set amount of gas for smooth ignition. From the ignition coil, high-voltage pulses go to the ignition electrode (pos. 24, see diagram above). A spark jumps between the electrode contact and the burner body (pos. 21, see the diagram above) - the burner ignites. 7. Flame control The presence of the flame is controlled by the ionization electrode (pos. 23, see diagram above). It checks for the presence of an ionization current and if it is not present within 8 seconds, the boiler is blocked. The principle of flame control by ionization is based on the fact that when a gas is burned, many free electrons and ions are formed. These particles are "attracted" to the ionization electrode and cause the flow of an ionization current of tens of microamperes. If the flame goes out - the ionization intensity drops below a certain level, the burner turns off. The reason for the loss of ionization may be contamination or burning of the ionization (control) electrode. Another reason for the loss of the ionization signal may be a decrease in the resistance between the ionization electrode and the burner body due to the deposition of conductive dust. 8. Circulation control

Circulation is controlled by temperature sensors NTC1 at the supply (pos. 20, see diagram above) and NTC2 at the return pipeline - “return” (pos. 3, see diagram above). The temperature difference and rate of change are controlled. If these data are normal, the boiler continues to work, if not, the boiler is blocked.

9. Flame modulation

After registering the flame, the boiler modulates. Modulation is an automatic smooth change in flame power gas burner depending on the heat demand this moment. This method of regulation is the most modern and economical.

Flame modulation provides comfort when using the DHW system, as it allows you to accurately maintain the water temperature set by the consumer. The power of the burner automatically adjusts to the heat output required for heating or hot water.

Modulation occurs within the limits of the maximum power on the DHW and the minimum power (set on the gas valve).

10. Superheat control Overheating of the boiler is controlled by an overheating sensor (pos. 19, see diagram above). If the temperature on the sensor reaches 102 - 105 degrees. C - the boiler is blocked. Note: in boilers with a bithermic heat exchanger, there is no three-way valve. If the flow sensor (pos. 9, see the diagram above) detects the water supply, the boiler switches to the DHW mode. Before starting the Nova Florida Vela Compact boiler, make sure that:

Inclusion

The following procedures should only be carried out after the Nova Florida Vela Compact boiler has been installed, checked and certified by a qualified commissioner.

Open the gas shut-off valve.

Connect the power supply to the unit (the LED will turn green).

Select the boiler operating mode using the regulator.

Use the regulator to set the desired temperature of the coolant in the heating circuit.

Set the DHW temperature with the controller.

If you have a room thermostat, set it to the desired temperature in the room.

When requested by the heating system, the LED will turn green. When the flame appears, the LED will turn yellow.

When the boiler is switched on after long downtime, especially if it works on liquefied gas, it may be difficult to start the boiler.

In this case, before starting the boiler, turn on some other gas appliance (eg stove, oven, etc.). Even after such actions, the device may be difficult to start and block once or twice. Unlock by turning the knob to position for a few seconds.

Operation of Nova Florida Vela Compact boilers

To prevent too frequent switching on and off in heating mode, the boiler maintains a four-minute pause between switching on.

However, if the temperature in the heating system drops below 40°C, the pause between switching on will be canceled and the device will turn on as needed.

The boiler electronics always give priority to domestic hot water over heating.

The domestic hot water temperature can be set between 35°C and 58°C.

The temperature of the heat carrier in the heating system can be set in the range from 35°C to 78°C.

The Nova Florida Vela Compact boiler is equipped with a sanitary hot water flow limiter, which allows a maximum of 10 liters per minute to be obtained.

The hot water capacity depends on the heat output and the temperature difference to which the machine heats the water.

The appliance is equipped with an anti-freeze protection system, which is disabled when the boiler is in standby mode.

When the temperature sensor in the heating circuit detects a temperature of 5°C, the appliance turns on at minimum power and operates for 15 minutes or until the temperature rises to 30°C. When it turns off, the pump still continues to work.

The anti-freeze function only protects the unit and not any other components of the heating system.

Protection of the heating system can be ensured by using a room thermostat, however, do not forget that when the boiler is set to standby room thermostat turns off.

The heating system can be effectively protected from freezing by using special antifreeze products suitable for heating systems with different types structural metals. Do not use automotive antifreeze and check the effectiveness of the product periodically.

If the unit is idle but connected to the mains, the pump is turned on for 30 seconds every 24 hours to prevent jamming.

Boiler blocking Nova Florida Vela Compact

When abnormal conditions are created during the operation of the Nova Florida Vela Compact boiler, it is automatically blocked.

Depending on the reason for blocking, proceed as described below.

Burner lockout

When the burner locks out, LED 2 (Fig. 1) lights up red.

If this happens, proceed as follows:

Check if the gas valve is open and if there is gas in the line (by turning on the stove, for example).

After making sure that gas is flowing, unblock the burner by turning the knob to position for a few seconds. If the boiler does not turn on and locks up again on the third try, contact qualified specialist.

If the burner locks up frequently, indicating a permanently recurring malfunction, you should contact the Service Center for maintenance.

Overheat lockout

When overheating occurs in the heating system, the LED indicator flashes red.

Blocking in case of insufficient pressure in the system

In the event of blocking of the Nova Florida Vela Compact boiler due to the operation of the pressure switch, the LED indicator flashes yellow.

Feed the heating system through the make-up cock located at the bottom next to the hydraulic connections.

The pressure in the heating system (when cold) should be 1 - 1.3 bar.

To restore pressure in the heating system, proceed as follows:

Open the system feed valve by turning it counterclockwise and keep it open until the pressure gauge shows a pressure of 1-1.3 bar.

Close the system feed valve by turning it clockwise.

If the boiler is often blocked for this reason, this indicates a violation in the heating system.

When the make-up of the system is completed, carefully and carefully close the make-up cock. If the make-up valve is not completely closed, this may increase the pressure in the heating system, which will lead to the operation of the boiler safety valve and possible splashing of water from it.

Blocking in case of violations in the chimney / air supply system

In the event of conditions that cause abnormal operation of the chimney or air supply, the boiler is blocked.

When the boiler is blocked due to violations in the chimney / air supply system, the LED indicator lights up in yellow.

Blocking in case of failure of temperature sensors

If the device is blocked due to malfunctions of the temperature sensors, the LED indicator flashes as follows:

Yellow/red for heating circuit temperature sensor;

Red/green for DHW temperature sensor.

Maximum Power Adjustment

Check the gas pressure value at the inlet;

Remove the plastic cap located on the modulator bobbin, which protects the adjusting screws of the pressure regulator;

Connect a micromanometer to the IN port to check the gas valve inlet pressure or to the OUT port to check the burner pressure;

Turn the regulator on the control panel clockwise until it stops and open one or two hot water taps so that the Nova Florida Vela Compact boiler operates at maximum power;

To INCREASE burner pressure, turn the brass nut clockwise and to DECREASE pressure, turn it counterclockwise.

For LPG operation, turn the brass nut clockwise until it stops.

Flue gas thermostat (only Nova Florida Vela Compact CTN 24 AF boiler)

The flue gas thermostat contacts are normally closed. When the exit of flue gases is obstructed, the smoke begins to flow around the smoke extractor from the outside and the temperature of the smoke extractor (on which the thermostat is installed) rises, as a result of which the thermostat triggers open the contacts of the latter. When the contacts are opened, the gas valve is de-energized and 2 seconds after the opening of the contacts, the electronic board is blocked (if the thermostat contacts close within 2 seconds, the electronic board will continue to function normally). After blocking, the pump performs post-circulation. If the thermostat contacts close within 10 seconds after blocking, the Nova Florida Vela Compact boiler can restart. The ten-minute waiting period can be reset by unlocking the appliance with the DHW controller. Start of ignition: if the contacts of the flue gas thermostat open within 2 seconds after the start of ignition, the board is blocked and a post-circulation operation of the pump is performed. After 10 minutes of blocking due to opening of the flue gas thermostat contacts (wait period for flue gas thermostat), the board can restart automatically if the flue gas thermostat contacts are closed. Differential air pressure switch (only Nova Florida Vela Compact CTFS 24 boiler model)

The air pressure switch is connected directly to the electronic board and its contacts are normally open. Before turning on the fan, the contacts of the air pressure switch are in the open state. Safety thermostat

The safety thermostat is located on the bithermic heat exchanger and its contacts are normally closed. If the safety thermostat trips when the gas valve is not working (during the period between requests or when the boiler is in standby mode), a malfunction signal will appear (LED 2 lights up red). Inclusion

When requested by the heating system, the LED will turn green. When the flame appears, the LED will turn yellow. When turning on the boiler after a long period of inactivity, especially if it is running on liquefied gas, starting the boiler may be difficult. In this case, before starting the boiler, turn on some other gas appliance (eg stove, oven, etc.). Even after such actions, the device may be difficult to start and block once or twice. Unlock by turning the knob to position for a few seconds.

Operation of Nova Florida Vela Compact boilers

To prevent too frequent switching on and off in heating mode, the boiler maintains a four-minute pause between switching on. However, if the temperature in the heating system drops below 40°C, the pause between switching on will be canceled and the device will turn on as needed. The boiler electronics always give priority to domestic hot water over heating. The domestic hot water temperature can be set between 35°C and 58°C. The temperature of the heat carrier in the heating system can be set in the range from 35°C to 78°C. The Nova Florida Vela Compact boiler is equipped with a sanitary hot water flow limiter, which allows a maximum of 10 liters per minute to be obtained. The hot water capacity depends on the heat output and the temperature difference to which the machine heats the water. The appliance is equipped with an anti-freeze protection system, which is disabled when the boiler is in standby mode. When the temperature sensor in the heating circuit detects a temperature of 5°C, the appliance turns on at minimum power and operates for 15 minutes or until the temperature rises to 30°C. When it turns off, the pump still continues to work. The anti-freeze function only protects the unit and not any other components of the heating system. The heating system can be protected by the room thermostat, but remember that when the boiler is put into standby mode, the room thermostat is switched off. The heating system can be effectively protected from freezing by using special antifreeze products suitable for heating systems with different types of structural metals. Do not use automotive antifreeze and check the effectiveness of the product periodically. If the unit is idle but connected to the mains, the pump is turned on for 30 seconds every 24 hours to prevent jamming.

Boiler blocking Nova Florida Vela Compact

When abnormal conditions are created during the operation of the Nova Florida Vela Compact boiler, it is automatically blocked. Depending on the reason for blocking, proceed as described below.

Burner lockout

When the burner locks out, LED 2 (Fig. 1) lights up red.

If this happens, proceed as follows:

Check if the gas valve is open and if there is gas in the line (by turning on the stove, for example). - after making sure that gas is flowing, unblock the burner by turning the knob to position for a few seconds. If the boiler does not turn on and locks up again on the third try, contact a qualified technician. If the burner locks up frequently, indicating a permanently recurring malfunction, you should contact the Service Center for maintenance.

Overheat lockout

When overheating occurs in the heating system, the LED indicator flashes red.

Blocking in case of insufficient pressure in the system

In the event of blocking the Nova Florida Vela Compact boiler due to the pressure switch tripping, the LED indicator flashes yellow. Feed the heating system through the make-up cock located at the bottom next to the hydraulic connections. The pressure in the heating system (when cold) should be 1 - 1.3 bar.

To restore pressure in the heating system, proceed as follows:

Open the system feed valve by turning it counterclockwise and keep it open until the pressure gauge shows a pressure of 1-1.3 bar. - Close the system feed valve by turning it clockwise. If the boiler is often blocked for this reason, this indicates a violation in the heating system. When the make-up of the system is completed, carefully and carefully close the make-up cock. If the make-up valve is not completely closed, this may increase the pressure in the heating system, which will lead to the operation of the boiler safety valve and possible splashing of water from it.

Blocking in case of violations in the chimney / air supply system

In the event of conditions that cause abnormal operation of the chimney or air supply, the boiler is blocked. When the boiler is blocked due to violations in the chimney / air supply system, the LED indicator lights up in yellow.

Blocking in case of failure of temperature sensors

If the device is blocked due to malfunctions of the temperature sensors, the LED indicator flashes as follows:

Yellow/red for heating circuit temperature sensor; - red/green for DHW temperature sensor.

Maximum Power Adjustment

Check the gas pressure value at the inlet; - remove the plastic cap located on the modulator bobbin, which protects the adjusting screws of the pressure regulator; - connect a micromanometer to the IN port to check the gas valve inlet pressure or to the OUT port to check the burner pressure; - turn the regulator on the control panel clockwise until it stops and open one or two hot water taps so that the Nova Florida Vela Compact boiler operates at maximum power; - to INCREASE the pressure on the burner, turn the brass nut clockwise and to DECREASE the pressure, turn it counterclockwise. - when working on liquefied gas, turn the brass nut clockwise until it stops.

Minimum power adjustment

Remove the connector from the regulator bobbin); - turn on the burner and check if the minimum pressure corresponds to the set value; - using a 10 mm wrench, while holding the nut in a fixed position, turn the plastic screw clockwise to increase pressure and counterclockwise to decrease pressure. - put the connector on the modulator bobbin.

Final operations

Turn on the boiler and check the correctness and noiselessness of the ignition of the burner; - check again the maximum and minimum pressure on the gas valve; - if necessary, adjust it; - put back the protective plastic cap; - close gas pressure measuring points; - check for gas leaks.

General condition of the device; - tightness of the gas system of the boiler and the gas supply line to the boiler; - gas pressure at the inlet to the apparatus; - minimum and maximum pressure on the burner; - switching on the boiler; - combustion parameters through gas analysis; - integrity, degree of wear and tightness of chimney pipes; - operation of the traction interruption device (CTN); - no leakage of flue gases into the room and correct operation of the chimney (CTN); - correct operation of the flue gas safety thermostat (CTN); - operation of the fan pressure switch (CTFS); - the overall integrity of all boiler safety devices; - absence of water leaks and oxidation of compounds in the boiler; - operation of the safety valve of the system; - expansion tank pressure; - the operation of the pressure switch in the system.

General cleaning of the interior of the unit; - cleaning gas nozzles; - cleaning of air intake and gas outlet pipes (CTFS); - cleaning of the traction interruption device (CTN); - cleaning of ventilation grilles in the room where the boiler is installed (CTN); - cleaning the outer part of the heat exchanger;

When performing the first maintenance, also check:

The suitability of the premises for the installation of the boiler; - ventilation ducts in the room where the boiler is installed (CTN); - flue pipes, their diameters and length;
