Why are there more worthy exclusives on PS4 than on Xbox One? Exclusives on XBOX. The best games of two generations of consoles

The main intrigue of the Microsoft conference long before it began was appearance new game console, its official name and price. Noted journalist and regular host of The Game Award Geoff Keighley from the sidelines a little blurred the impression, a few hours before the event, that he knows the cost of the device - $ 499. At the end of more than an hour and a half conference, Microsoft representatives confirmed this information.

Microsoft Head of Gaming Phil Spencer took to the stage at the E3 Coliseum wearing a 'Player (1)' T-shirt. It was this player in the video game industry who got to introduce the world to a new console, still known under the code name Project Scorpio. Microsoft didn’t go crazy with the name, choosing the name Xbox One X for the new device. The characteristics of the console became known two months ago, so it remained to present its appearance. As a result, Xbox One X turned out to be not only the most powerful game console in the world, but also the smallest in the Xbox family. The developers noted that all Xbox One accessories and games will be compatible with the new device. The Xbox One X will go on sale November 7, 2017.

The most powerful game console in the world. Microsoft showed the filling new Xbox

The developers of the new Xbox showed reporters a prototype of the device and allowed to look under the body of the console.

The Microsoft conference turned out to be brighter, livelier and richer than the Electronic Arts event. Developers literally flooded gamers with announcements of new games. Some of them the public has been waiting for a long time, others were completely unexpected. In total, more than four dozen projects were shown to viewers, half of which will become exclusives for Xbox One and Windows 10.

Forza Motorsport 7

One of the flagships of the new console will be the racing simulator Forza Motorsport 7. For the loud announcement of this project, Microsoft signed a contract with Porsche and included the latest Porsche 911 GT2 RS supercar in the game. The game can be run in 4K resolution at 60 fps. Forza Motorsport 7 launches one month ahead of Xbox One X on October 3, 2017 on Xbox One and Windows 10.

Metro Exodus

A pleasant surprise was the announcement of the game Metro Exodus. Inspired by creativity Dmitry Glukhovsky the developers promise to release a new part of the series in 2018. The action will unfold in the Russian outback and post-apocalyptic Moscow. The game will be released on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.

Assassin's Creed: Origins

The new part of Assassin's Creed will take players to the ground ancient egypt. At the Microsoft conference, they showed a trailer for the game and gameplay footage from the alpha version. Assassin's Creed: Origins will be released on October 27, 2017 on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.

Crackdown 3

One of the exclusives for Xbox One and Windows 10 at the Microsoft conference was presented by actor Terry Crews. The action has been in development since 2014, and information about its technological excellence has consistently appeared at E3 in past years. It seems that this time the developers have finally decided on the release date: the release of Crackdown 3 will take place on the day of the official start of sales of Xbox One X - November 7, 2017.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

The multiplayer shooter PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, which has gained great popularity among PC gamers, will be ported to the Xbox One family console at the end of this year.

Dragon Ball FighterZ

Studio Bandai Namco presented its new fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ at the Microsoft conference. Players will be asked to fight in 3v3 teams, choosing the best combination of fighters. The developers promise dynamic battles and a wide range of techniques. The game will be released in 2018 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm

Information about the release of the new Life is Strange was leaked to the Web before the start of E3. At the Microsoft conference, it became known that the prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm will be divided into three episodes, the first of which will be released on August 31.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War

The previously announced Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, as conceived by Microsoft representatives, will also stimulate sales of the Xbox One X. At the same time, the game will also appear on the console from Sony. The release of the action game in the Lord of the Rings universe after the transfer is scheduled for October 10, 2017.

Sea of Thieves

Another exclusive was awarded a long demonstration at the Microsoft conference. The online multiplayer pirate adventure did not surprise with the variety of tasks shown. The developers still have time to polish the project - the release has been postponed to early 2018.

Black Desert

Another MMO, which now has to migrate to the Xbox One family of consoles, will try to attract the audience already familiar with it with the notorious 4K resolution. On consoles from Microsoft South Korean Black Desert should appear in early 2018 before the release on the PlayStation 4.

Deep Rock Galactic

Procedurally generated co-op action game Deep Rock Galactic is already in Early Access on Steam. The game is slated to release on Xbox One this year.

State of Decay 2

Once again, an exclusive for Xbox One and Windows 10. The release of the sequel to the zombie shooter is scheduled in Microsoft's plans for 2018.

Anthem

One of the most spectacular demonstrations was the presentation of Anthem from BioWare, which the day before was teased at the Electronic Arts conference. A shooter with a co-op for four players appeared before the public in all its glory. It owes its impressive graphics to the Frostbite engine. The game is expected to be released at the end of 2018.

During the Microsoft conference, many other games were demonstrated. Among them are the third-person shooter The Darwin Project, the platform games Ori and the Will of the Wisps, The Artful Escape and Super Lucky’s Tale, the sci-fi game TACOMA, The Last Night, Code Vein, Ashen and many other projects.

Phil Spencer specifically focused on 4K updates of popular games for Xbox One X. The pioneers will be Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3 and Halo War 2, and later Final Fantasy XV and Resident Evil 7 will appear.

Microsoft traditionally pays great attention to backward compatibility. The conference announced the launch of a program for games with original Xbox console. The service will be available to gamers this year and will allow you to use the power of the new console for better display and faster launch of your favorite games.

So, the best games for Xbox One are mostly exclusive projects.

Xbox One Exclusives

Forza Horizon 3

The most exciting, the most beautiful and the largest "non-serious" race of all time. Only Test Drive Unlimited for Xbox 360 gave such a feeling 10 years ago. Only Forza Horizon 3 is even better! A definite Must-Have for all fans of virtual races. This game will last you for many months.

Gears of War 4

The fourth part of Gears of War may not have been able to reach the standards of Gears of War 2 raised to the skies, but it certainly turned out no worse than Gears of War 3 and Judgment. Fascinating, beautiful cooperative shooter. One of the best two-player games on the current generation of gaming systems. A game that will appeal to everyone.

Halo 5: Guardians

One of the best first-person shooter games on Xbox One, albeit for lack of decent competition. Before the original Halo trilogy, this project is like riding a bike to heaven, but those who didn’t spit on Halo 4 (I, the author of the material, can’t stand this game), the fifth Halo will definitely like it.

Forza Motorsport 6

And this is “our” answer to Gran Turismo, new part which has not yet appeared on PS4, although Microsoft has already managed to release both the “fifth” and “sixth” Forza, moreover, it is already working on the “seventh”. On the this moment The best serious car racing game on Xbox One. Recommended, like Forza Horizon 3, to anyone and everyone interested in cars.

Killer Instinct Season 3

Need a serious, hardcore fighting game? You are not at all for Mortal Kombat X, but just for Killer Instinct, and definitely Season 3. Retro spirit, a variety of characters, nice stylized graphics and an appropriate atmosphere are attached to a complex combat system.

Quantum Break

A bold experiment in combining a TV show with a game from the creators of Alan Wake and Max Payne. Interesting plot, expected from Remedy gameplay; Quantum Break may not have become the studio's best game, but everyone who completed it the way the authors intended (with watching the show) will surely remember it.

Sunset Overdrive

Crazy, driving action with elements of sports skate races from the creators of Ratchet & Clank, studio Insomniac Games. For all admirers of parkour and high-quality, unusual, even in some places “acidic” picture.

Ori and the Blind Forest

Wonderful, sincere, meditative, picturesque; it's all about Ori and the Blind Forest, Xbox One's premier indie project.

Other strong Xbox One exclusive games include:

  • Forza Horizon 2: If, suddenly, the third part is not enough for you.
  • Forza Motorsport 5: Same as above.
  • Dead Rising 3: Furious open-world combat with plenty of zombies.
  • Dead Rising 4: Exactly the same, only prettier.
  • Halo: Master Chief Collection: A compilation of the four original Halo. Moreover, Halo and Halo 2 were completely redone on the new engine.
  • Rare Replay: Really worthy collection of classics. In one bundle you will find games such as Battletoads, Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark, R.C. Pro Am.
  • Gears of War: Ultimate Edition: The Ultimate Edition of Xbox 360's premier exclusive, much prettier on Xbox One.
  • Dance Central Spotlight: For fans of music and dance projects.
  • Ryse: Son of Rome: Despite criticism, still very beautiful game. One of the few about Ancient Rome.
  • FIFA 17: The first FIFA with a story!
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2017: Another look at football.

The best multiplatform games for Xbox One

Battlefield 1

Battlefield's move towards quality story-driven action continues in Battlefield 1, where we were told a stunning and emotional story about the First World War. Multiplayer battles are great as expected!

Titanfall 2

Titanfall, as a series, originated on the Xbox One. The second part surpasses the original in everything and offers an interesting single campaign; one of the best not only this year, but in general, in the history of the genre. Recommended.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition

A re-release of Skyrim with all the expansions that have been released, as well as significantly improved graphics. The Xbox One version is much more interesting than the PS4 version. All because of the greater number of modifications available.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

Call of Duty fans will not miss this game, but we can recommend it to everyone else. Silly, but not at all annoying, the plot, dynamic battles, bright graphics; It's nice to have fun playing these games.

Dishonored 2

A grandiose universe created by visionaries from the world of video games, a clever plot, bright characters, a gloomy atmosphere and excellent gameplay.

Watch Dogs 2

Watch Dogs 2 is exactly the kind of game we dreamed of back in the days of the original. Deserves the second title Grand Theft Auto V.

Good games on Xbox One

  • Rise of the Tomb Raider: It was once a temporary Xbox One exclusive. But the PS4 version is better.
  • Star Wars: Battlefront: One of the best games in the Star Wars series, but exclusively multiplayer.
  • Hitman: "Killer" of the new sample returned to the roots.
  • Assassin's Creed Syndicate: Far from a running franchise series.
  • Destiny: The creators of Halo once again did not tie a broom.
  • The Division: Also multiplayer oriented project of the highest quality.
  • XCOM 2: Smart and beautiful tactical strategy.
  • The Banner Saga 2: A project in an interesting universe and exciting battles.

Don't forget about the games I mentioned in the best PS4 games article; they are also available for Xbox One.

  • Fallout 4
  • Titanfall
  • Rocket League
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
  • Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition
  • Divinity: Original Sin
  • Wolfenstein: The New Order
  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Life is Strange
  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
  • The Witness
  • Overwatch
  • Firewatch
  • Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
  • Dark Souls III
  • Inside
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition
  • doom
  • Far Cry 4
  • Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Wasteland 2: Director's Cut
  • Dying Light
  • Just Cause 3

« What about Horizon? Zero Dawn will only be released onPS4? "- this is the message received by one of the authors of the portal Forbes from its owner Xbox One friend in anticipation of the release of one of the main PS4- this year's exclusives. Given the novelty of the project, you should not blame people far from the industry who have not yet realized that Horizon: Zero Dawn is intended exclusively for PS4. And it's not even that this is a great game, but that it is another exclusive Sony.

And although this topic will inevitably attract people who are not indifferent to the “exclusive” issue, the main message of the text is extremely clear: Sony does an excellent job of producing not only high-quality sequels to its famous franchises, but also completely new IP, which are just asking for your shelf. It goes against politics nintendo, which is famous for projects from internal studios, but has almost nothing to offer gamers on the multiplatform front. As for Microsoft, then she would rather cancel her new game than bring it to a release state.

How Sony managed to get ahead in the current console race, a lot has already been said. According to the most common version, Microsoft at first I couldn't imagine Xbox One the world, hinting at " permanent online”, and then released a deliberately less powerful, but at the same time more expensive console (than the main competitor) paired with an albatross named Kinect 2.0.

However, even in an era when the importance of exclusive games, it would seem, is no longer so great, and the largest projects are available not only on two opposing consoles, but also on PC, Sony does not give Microsoft descent when it comes to projects marked " PlayStation Only”, and it seems that it is not going to slow down.

There were good games, of course, Microsoft: Halo 5, Gears of War 4, ReCore, Sunset Overdrive, series Forza, dead rising And State of Decay. However, this list, in general, ends. If you turn to Sony, then we see Until Dawn, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Bloodborne, The Last Guardian, Nioh, Horizon: Zero Dawn, as well as the upcoming The Last of Us 2 and God of War. And many of these projects are not just good, but may well (to one degree or another) claim the title of the best games of the year, which cannot be said about the same Gears of War 4 or Halo Wars 2 (unless you are a hardened fan Xbox).

So what is the difference in this regard? Sony And Microsoft? What is the key to the success of one company and the failure of another? Let's figure it out.

Microsoft does its best to keep life in its two main franchises - Halo And Gears of War. The problem is that they are no longer responsible for their development. Bungie And epic games, but 343 Industries And The Coalition. And, despite the unconditional quality of new games, their authors continue to chase the past, trying to "pay tribute" to the previous parts and please the fans, in fear of spoiling the key components of the success of these series.

Take, for example, Gears of War 4: if it were the middle of the last generation of consoles, the release of this game would be one of the main events of the year, but in 2016 the fourth part of the Gears was overshadowed by other bright projects of the fall. Why? Because the series can no longer offer players anything new.

At Sony, at the same time, there Naughty Dog, which is working on sequels such as Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us 2. And instead of trying to revive the charm of past games, the studio is trying to surpass itself and, in the case of Nathan Drake (Nathan Drake) knows when to stop.

Sony is not afraid to give his partners and internal studios creative freedom. Thanks to this approach, we have Bloodborne from the creators of Dark Souls, From Software; Until Dawn by supermassive games, some of whose most notable works are additions to LittleBigPlanet; Horizon: Zero Dawn from the permanent developers of the series kill zone, Guerrilla Games.

And although it is not known for certain how all this could have ended, the fact remains: at one time Bungie I wanted to do something new (i.e. Destiny). Microsoft, in turn, valued Halo more than his inner studio, which is why Bungie and moved to the Activision, and as a result, the Redmonders missed the opportunity to get exclusive rights to one of the most successful new IP in the history of the industry.

As mentioned earlier, the impression is that Lately Microsoft cancels more exclusives than it releases (Phantom Dust, Scalebound, Fable Legends). No one claims that these games would have turned out to be masterpieces, however, while being under the wing Sony studios are flourishing (an unfortunate exception to this rule is the late last year Evolution Studios), developers under the auspices Microsoft cannot feel safe.

So, for example, the Redmond company, buying from Square Enix temporary exclusivity of Rise of the Tomb Raider, believed that this year of odds would allow Lara Croft in line with other brand symbols Xbox: Master Chief, Marcus Fenix, the cover hero of the canceled Fable Legends and, uhm, a car from the series Forza. Nothing says attitude Microsoft to your exclusives better than this infamous image" The greatest lineup of games in Xbox history».

As if that wasn't enough Microsoft no longer pushes users to buy Xbox One. In addition to being less extensive than Sony, library of exclusives program Xbox Play Anywhere will allow you to play almost any exclusive Microsoft with a computer. Redmonds did it themselves Xbox One, in fact, superfluous: if a gamer has a home PC, PS4 and some of the devices nintendo then he doesn't need anything else.

What will change with the release Project Scorpio next fall, while it remains a secret. The new console is able to offer hitherto unheard of power, which can attract Microsoft a lot of interested players who will buy an updated console for the sake of multi-platform projects that will look better than on PS4, and immediate exclusives.

And though sinless Sony cannot be named either (see The Order: 1886 and PS Vita), at this stage the line of exclusives Xbox One does not bear any comparison PS4. The Japanese console, meanwhile, has already managed to get hold of a considerable number of mandatory projects for review, and there will clearly not be less of them in the near future.

Reality: Well, everything we wanted was realized. The fifth Forza really turned out to be the one the best part series and is probably the "ultimate" race to this day. Stunning graphics, an abundance of cars, a long career and an extremely flexible system of settings for the behavior of cars on the road, yes, Sony currently has nothing that could compete with the "fifth" Forza. And it is unlikely to appear before Gran Turismo 7. Well, in Driveclub, as you already know, it turned out to be a simple, and even extremely buggy arcade race. So Forza 5 is now a must-have for all Xbox One owners.

Forza Horizon 2

For those who want a simpler, more provocative and faster race, Forza Horizon 2, which is head and shoulders above the first part. And you should take the version for Xbox One. It is much prettier and "more complete" than the game of the same name on the Xbox 360. At the moment, Forza Horizon 2 simply has no competitors. A gigantic open world, beautiful cars, mind-blowing roads, it's got everything we once loved Test Drive Unlimited for Xbox 360 for. Many already call Forza Horizon 2 one of the best racing games of all time. And we can't help but agree.

Dead Rising 3

Expectations: Another series that originated on Xbox 360, however, later reaching PS3. However, what Dead Rising 3 will be an Xbox One exclusive for a long time, no doubt. So fans of the zombie apocalypse from Capcom (a completely different vision than the same Resident Evil) have no choice but to choose the Xbox One. A game that is already "thundering" all over the world, thanks to the same ban on it in Germany. Well, amazing graphics along with a destructible world and an abundance of opportunities. The almost open zombie world is what many loved the first two series for. Again, Sony will not have anything like this at the start.

Reality: As expected, Dead Rising 3 continued the tradition of the series, becoming a real zombie apocalypse for the next generation console. Modern graphics, an abundance of zombies (there can be thousands of them on one screen). But in fact they tell us the same story about a world in which the living dead crawled out of their graves and began to terrify ordinary citizens. No, this, of course, is not about "horror", but rather about an action movie with an open world and an advanced system for creating weapons and various aids. Those who like the series will also like Dead Rising 3. The game turned out good!

Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Halo: The Master Chief Collection became a kind of gift to the owners of Xbox One. A complete collection of all the numbered Halo shooters released to date. Namely: Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4. The highlight of the program, however, was Halo 2, which was completely redone for the collection. Here you and new graphics, and new gameplay similar to what we saw in Halo 4. For the sake of this "old-new" game, you should buy a collection.

Fortunately, the rest of the series look great and are played today no worse than in the past. Well, for those who are not familiar with Halo at all, it's time to catch up.

Ryse: Son of Rome

Expectations: One of the most interesting Xbox One exclusives, without a doubt Ryse: Son of Rome. A game with an interesting setting, a fascinating story (judging by ), great graphics (Crytek took care of it) and a decent combat system. That is, the very case of the perfect AAA blockbuster recipe. And, of course, time will tell, but Ryse there is every chance to become the ancestor of the series, which will be with us for many years. A personal favorite of Salegame. It is for this game that many of us may be buying an Xbox One before the end of 2014.

Reality: And this, alas, is the case when expectations were not met. Yes, the game is beautiful. But that's all. An indistinct plot, undeveloped characters, a primitive combat system made Ryse just another pass-through action movie with a very nice picture and trendy effects. Alas, I do not want to return to this game. A much stronger project could have been made about Rome. Even the ancient Shadow of Rome for PlayStation 2 seems much more interesting and solid. If you want to feel the spirit of Rome, it's better to turn on Rome II: Total War on PC... Not recommended! "Perfect AAA-blockbuster" is devoid of everything but a beautiful picture.

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die

And this is one of the most interesting visual novels recently, a game that has won numerous awards and has become a kind of spiritual heir to the cult Deadly Premonition. Journalists call it one of the most memorable games in the history of the industry. She is praised for an interesting plot, bright characters, a gloomy and serious mood, as well as an unusual style. We'll say that D4 The game is not for everyone! Meanwhile, those who want and can plunge into her world are unlikely to want to leave it until the very end.

The only moment: we will not see the final soon! The game, as it is fashionable now, is divided into episodes. And, alas, they are short. Meanwhile, the intro has already proven that something special is in store for us!

Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive became one of the most interesting games on Xbox One and received exceptionally high reviews in the press. Recall that the same people created the game as Ratchet & Clank. Insomniac knows a lot about weapons! Therefore, the means for destroying enemies here are the most interesting, destructive and diverse. In addition, the developers managed to create a bright, "acidic" world, which is called stylish.

A beautiful picture along with memorable characters is attached. If you have an Xbox One, be sure to buy this game, you are unlikely to be disappointed. On the same PS4, there is nothing like it yet!

This is where the “very large” games for which game consoles are bought end. Next - lower level projects.

Crimson Dragon

Expectations: Crimson Dragon from the creators of Panzer Dragoon was supposed to continue the tradition of the cult series. And maybe it will continue. However, we must not forget that the game was originally planned as Kinect fun for the Xbox 360. But then it was postponed many times and probably remade. Once, even almost from scratch. Yes, yes, the developers of Crimson Dragon eventually abandoned the Kinect. But for some reason they decided to release the game not in a box, but exclusively in digital version. It is difficult to predict what awaits us in the end - a super hit or a complete failure. There is not long to wait.

Reality: As we expected, the creators of the original Panzer Dragoon did not disappoint. Crimson Dragon has turned out to be a very stable downloadable project that fans of the genre will absolutely love. Nothing outstanding, but there are no bad words for the game!

Fighter Within

Expectations: No console launch is complete without Ubisoft. For Xbox One, the company has prepared a Kinect-fighting game Fighter Within. Judging by the press releases, we are waiting for a full-fledged Motion Capture fighting game. However, it seems that technologies and players are clearly not ready for this yet. The success of Fighter Within is hard to believe ...

Reality: Well, this is the most bad game for Xbox One at the moment. The exclusive turned out to be so unsuccessful that it immediately “grabbed” its required 1 and 2 points in numerous publications. Crooked combat system, no integration with Kinect, in general, pass by!

You should talk about the game -.

Also for Xbox One will be released Powerstar Golf(a rare console also does without golf at the start) and version Xbox Fitness. This is where the exclusives of the launch line end., Peggle 2, Zumba Fitness World Party and are not exclusive. In total, 4 large exclusive projects, two games of smaller caliber and 2 very insignificant ones. 8 exclusives, 12 games.

Sony has the following alignment - there are 21 games in the starting lineup. But many are not exclusive. With the Driveclub delay, Sony has only 2 AAA projects to start: Killzone: Shadow Fall And . So, judge for yourself. Yes, a little later on Xbox One will be released ( as we already know, not exclusive at all) and , and PS4 will please and drive club'om. And there you look to the secret project Nero hands reach.

Xbox One Exclusives: Games of the Future

p.s.: And some are already real ...

And what does the coming day have in store for us? These will be released on Xbox One Interesting games like: Quantum Break, Halo 5: Guardians, Fable Legends, new Gears of War. Do not forget about the exclusive (albeit temporarily) Tomb Raider "e. As well as Scalebound from Platinum Games and the new part of Crackdown! Surely other exclusive projects will be announced in 2015.

Alan Wake's Return

Trademark registered. There is already a trailer inside Quantum Break. There we see two detectives and Alan in a strange position in some kind of hut. What does all of this mean?

We'll find out very soon.

Forza Horizon 3

The game has almost been announced. Wait until E3 2016.

Crackdown 3

Crackdown 3 will have an amazing sense of space and time, the developers said. You can read more about the game. The game itself will look like this:

Quantum Break

The same people who gave the world Max Payne and Alan Wake are working on Quantum Break. The game will take place in the USA. At a certain university, an experiment in time travel turned out to be something unplanned. The game's three protagonists, Jack Joyce, Beth Wilder, and Paul Siren, were given the ability to manipulate time. So, the main villain, Siren, learned to look into the future in order to make the right choice in the present. Joyce, on the other hand, knows how to stop time ... Well, Monarch Solutions, founded by Siren, is hunting everyone. Apparently, we are waiting for an incredibly exciting and intelligent action movie.

The game is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2015.

Fable Legends

Fable Legends focuses on co-op play.

Players will be able to control 5 heroes at once, one of which is a villain. The four brave "knights" will have to prevent the supporter of the dark forces, and he, in turn, must do everything to prevent them from doing so. As for the world of games, the action will unfold several centuries before the events of the original trilogy. The idea is interesting, let's see how it will be implemented.

Gears of War 4

The number appeared. The game is called Gears of War 4. It will be released not only on Xbox One, but also on PC.

The new Gears of War series still doesn't have a number.

However, it is already absolutely known that the game is being made. True, without Epic Games. All rights to the series are now owned by Microsoft. And the new part is being worked on by Black Tusk Studios, which employs Rod Ferguson, one of the ideologists of Gears of War 1, 2, 3. So the project is in good hands! True, it is hardly worth waiting for the game before 2016.

Halo 5: Guardians

We've already seen the Halo 5 multiplayer beta, and we know the game will look great and deliver great gameplay. However, like all previous series. As for the storyline, the only thing known about it is that we are waiting for the continuation of Halo 4.

Oh yeah, and here's another one: Peace and tranquility were broken when the colonies were attacked. BUT main character of mankind suddenly disappeared! A Spartan named Lok must find the Master Chief and find out what threatens the galaxy.". The game will be released in 2015. But when exactly is unknown.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

We don’t yet know if Rise of the Tomb Raider, the continuation of the successful reboot of the series, will become a permanent exclusive, but the fact that for about a year, except on Xbox One, it will not be playable on any other platform is absolutely certain. And, apparently, for the sake of this game, many will buy the same console. By the way, Microsoft itself will publish the game! The release date is already known. This will happen in the fall of 2015. Lara is "played" by the same actress, Camille Luddington.

The same people are responsible for the script.

Halo Wars 2

The long-awaited continuation of the popular strategy game promises even more visual chic.

The game will appear on February 21, 2017. Will become part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program. That is, if you buy a game on Xbox One or PC, you will automatically get access to it on another platform. There is also a gameplay video:

That's all for now. The material will be updated as information becomes available.

And here's what else we can expect:

  • Battletoads: There's a good chance that Rare is working on this game.
  • Sea of Thieves: An upcoming project. Likely MMO.
  • Age of Empires IV: The announcement of this game is also possible in the very near future.

November 15 in the US will start selling PlayStation 4, a week later - Xbox One. In Russia, at the same time, only one set-top box is officially launched in November - PlayStation 4 (November 29), the launch of Xbox One has been postponed for a couple of months. We have collected the most important facts about the differences between PS4 and Xbox One - this text will help you understand which of the two consoles is right for you.

Exclusive Games

It is not by chance that we placed exclusives in the first place: it is because of them that many decide to buy one or another platform (and sometimes two at once). Here you need to know that only a small fraction of the promised games will be released at the start, many will follow in the so-called “launch window”, that is, they will be released before next summer. And here are the main games available at the launch of both consoles:

Xbox One: Ryse: Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct(free2play), Crimson Dragon, Forza Motorsport 5, The Fighter Within, Zoo Tycoon, Xbox Fitness

PS4: , Knack, (free for PS Plus subscribers), contrast(free for PS Plus subscribers), Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition , DC Universe Online (free2play) , War Thunder (free2play)

Clearly, the Xbox One is supported by a larger lineup at launch - even if you consider that Killer Instinct's reboot does dubious studio Double Helix (see Battleship: The Game). And now let's see what exclusives Sony and Microsoft plan to release before the end of next year:

Xbox One: D4, Fable Legends, Halo 5, Kinect Sports Rivals, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (temporary exclusive) Project Spark, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Titanfall(also available on PC and X360)

PS4: Daylight, Divekick, deep down, drive club, Dynasty Warriors 8, Earth Defense Force, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture , Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn , Guilty Gear Xrd, Infamous: Second Son, The Order: 1886, The Witness

It is clear that some of these games may well be transferred, but already now certain preferences can be formed. A sequel to Infamous or a four-player co-op Fable? A new game from Remedy or a new revelation of David Cage? Capcom's Deep Down exclusive about dragons and dungeons, or a new Halo? It's up to you, of course.

Multiplatform and cross-gen projects

Almost all multi-platform projects on Xbox One and PS4 today are the so-called "cross-gen", that is, games released on both current and next generation consoles. This creates additional difficulties for developers - instead of three standard SKUs (versions) for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, they have to release five at once, and sometimes six or seven (this is if it comes to someone's mind to make ports for PS Vita and Wii U ). Hence the quite understandable result: you should not expect stunning “next-gen” graphics from them, although they will look prettier and work faster. In addition, more than half of the "cross-gen" games are already available - this is Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Battlefield 4, and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

In some places, there is an interesting promotion: you can buy a game on the current generation platform, and then upgrade the version to the next-gen for $ 10. Here full list games of the next generation, which can be purchased in this way for 300 rubles:

  • Battlefield 4 (XB1, PS4)
  • FIFA 14 (XB1, PS4)
  • Assassin's Creed IV (XB1, PS4)
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts (XB1, PS4)
  • Madden NFL 25 (XB1, PS4)
  • Need For Speed: Rivals (XB1)
  • NBA2K14 (XB1)

Price and equipment

Xbox One: Console with external power supply and 500 GB hard drive, Kinect 2.0 sensor, battery-powered gamepad, wired headset, HDMI cable. 500 USD/EUR, recommended price in Russia not announced.

PS4: console with built-in power supply and 500 GB hard drive, Dualshock 4 controller with charging cable, wired headset, HDMI cable. 400 dollars / euro, the recommended price in Russia is 18990 rubles.

It's simple here: the PlayStation Camera will not be bundled with the PS4, which makes the console $100/€ cheaper than the Xbox One. Interestingly, the same camera can be purchased at the price of a gamepad - 2599 rubles (the first generation of Kinect is still retailed in the area 5000 rubles), but it’s still too early to compare its functionality with Kinect: although Sony promises motion recognition, it hasn’t shown any games yet.

There are also less obvious differences: the Sony console is thinner and smaller than the Xbox One, but it has a built-in power supply. For Xbox One, this role will be played by the external “brick” already familiar from the X360. Both gamepads have the ability to recharge during the game, but for the Xbox you will have to buy a separate set of batteries and a charging cable. Both consoles have a 500 GB hard drive, but only in PS4 it can be replaced with any other 2.5-inch HDD, which may be relevant already at the start - games not only take 40-50 gigabytes, but also require mandatory installation . Fortunately, Xbox One owners will be able to connect an external hard drive to the console via USB 3.0.

The Permissions Scandal: Why It Matters

For a week now, the entire specialized Internet has been disturbed by a scandal that some publications have dubbed "Resolutiongate" - by analogy with the Watergate trial. The essence of the problem is very simple: the developers of the first next-gen projects failed to make multi-platform and exclusive games work on Xbox One at 1080p (Full HD), most of them run in the good old 720p and the hardcore public's claim is clear: where, for a minute, next -gene? To better illustrate the problem, here is a clear picture:

In other words, most likely you tv full HD, and the difference between 720p and 1080p will be noticeable to the naked eye. The situation, of course, is not global and varies from game to game - for example, Ryse will run in an unusual 900p resolution, and Forza Motorsport will be the only game at the Xbox One launch that supports 1080p at 60 frames per second. Here, if anyone is suddenly interested, the full list of games available at the start of the consoles, broken down by permissions:

1080p, Xbox One: Forza Motorsport 5, Need for Speed: Rivals

720p, Xbox One: Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts.

1080p, PS4: Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, Assassin's Creed IV, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Need for Speed: Rivals.

Internet Services

For fans of free online on the Sony console, we have interesting news: now for multiplayer you need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus, just like Xbox Live Gold is required to play online on Xbox One. On the other hand, PS Plus will continue to be a service that gives users 2-3 really cool and relatively fresh games - right at the launch of the console, all subscribers will receive Resogun, which is currently collecting the highest ratings from critics, plus the upcoming DriveClub racing simulator has already been announced in a special version for PlayStation Plus subscribers. It's also important to know that the PS Plus account is the same across PS3, PS4 and PS Vita - and on each platform, users will receive free games and discounts on their existing digital catalog.

Xbox One and Xbox 360 will also have a single Xbox Live Gold subscription; at the moment, users are mostly given classics like Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3. Let's see how the situation will develop in the case of Xbox One.

And yes - all your PSN and Xbox Live accounts with achievements, trophies and friend lists can be safely transferred to PS4 and Xbox One.

Additional features

Xbox One was positioned almost immediately as a single multimedia device, bringing together in one box all conceivable entertainment: games, TV, movies, music and elegant voice control all of this with Kinect. The most innovative thing here is the ability to plug a set-top box or satellite receiver into the console via the HDMI port, while Kinect will act as a remote control: the console will automatically convert your voice to IR signal, and the set-top box interface will be output over the TV signal. In theory, you can even play and watch a basketball game at the same time, but it's not entirely clear why. Three more will function on Xbox One operating systems: Xbox OS for gaming, stripped down Windows version 8 for applications and a "virtual OS" that allows the first two to run faster. Microsoft says it will take minimal developer effort to bring apps from Windows 8 to Xbox One.

Sony, on the other hand, is putting less emphasis on PS4's media services, and even recently released a FAQ admitting that the PS4 won't be able to play MP3s and Audio CDs - only music from the Sony store. The public, as expected, howled, and the company backed down: an update will be released for the set-top box that returns this functionality. In addition, both PS4 and Xbox One have inexplicable Blu-Ray 3D playback issues. Again, both Sony and Microsoft promise that this will be possible with a firmware update, but how soon is unknown.

At the same time, the PS4 has its own unique feature that allows the console to compete with the functionality of the Wii U: the Remote Play function, modified and brought to mind, when any game can be transferred from the big screen to the small PlayStation Vita screen and continue the game without any delay. According to the first reviews, the technology works good and can serve as an additional argument in favor of buying a console.

The future is in the clouds

Both Sony and Microsoft talk a lot about what big role will play cloud computing in the development of eighth-generation set-top boxes. Microsoft promises absolutely fantastic things: an increase in the performance of the set-top box due to calculations "given" to the server - in theory, this way you can reduce the load on the processor, freeing it for other tasks. In practice, this is a matter of a rather distant future: the Internet in the United States is now noticeably worse than in Europe, and much worse than in Russia, so we are separated from full-fledged cloud computing by at least a few years.

PS4 promises more mundane things: after buying the Gaikai streaming service, the company plans to use it to distribute its back catalog: games for PS3, PS2 and PS1. Since neither Xbox One nor PS4 are backwards compatible, this may not be possible. interesting advantage. On the other hand, nothing will prevent developers from releasing HD remakes of games of the current generation, I think we should expect announcements of some kind of Uncharted Trilogy HD in the very near future.

Instead of a verdict

As you probably already guessed, there will be no unequivocal recommendatory conclusion at the end of this text. We will definitely try out both consoles in the very near future (which is already there - the majority of the Disgusting Men editors are going to buy both consoles), we will do detailed reviews their functionality and gaming capabilities.

However, one piece of advice can be given already now: for many, the decisive argument in choosing consoles will not be the convenience of a particular joystick or even the quality of graphics in games, but the presence of friends playing on a particular platform. And here the collective decision will be more important than individual tastes, so share your thoughts and this article with your friends, stay tuned for new reviews and materials about the consoles of the near future, and be sure to write in the comments on which platform you will fight in Battlefield 4. We are already seated in the bushes sniper rifle. One in six, yes.
