Youth magazine “Yes!” will help you understand the world of fashion, beauty and health, introduce you to popular actors and share the secrets of love.

I started buying Yes magazine a long time ago, literally from the first issues. A very positive, colorful magazine, ideal for girls aged 12 and over.

I have entire collections of this magazine at home, it’s a shame to throw it away, and there’s no need to, now my eldest daughter is interested in the magazine.

I really like the fact that this magazine does not contain real pornography, which was enough in the Kul and Kul Gel magazines during my youth. My magazines were read elder sister, and I was shocked by such candid photos that are posted in teen magazines.

There is enough of this nasty stuff on the Internet, children often surf on social networks, and obscene advertisements almost always pop up. I don’t pay such attention, but it’s very unpleasant for me when my child wants to read something interesting on the Internet, since it’s not always possible to get books online. school curriculum, and here on you, then increase it, then cut it, then buy it.

Therefore, old issues of EU magazine were a good find for me. My daughter can find answers to all her questions there. He brings magazines to school and reads them with the girls. When to do it school newspaper, cut out pictures and photos from a magazine.

More than one generation of girls has grown up reading my EU magazine collections. One year a neighbor girl took the magazines to read, then she passed them on to her friend, then they passed on to me again, and through me to my niece. I don’t even have time to take them to the dacha for storage, because they take up so much space. One day I was offered to sell all the issues that I had stored, but I immediately refused, they would still come in handy, and now they came in handy. Sometimes I take it out to read them myself; sitting constantly reading at the computer tires my eyes, but this way I can calmly lie down, grab a cup of coffee, a magazine and relax.

The EU magazine has a lot of really useful advice for teenagers, tests, horoscopes, compatibility. There are also sections about stars, where their lives are interestingly described. It is written positively, without gossip.

Often, in almost every issue, sweepstakes and competitions are held. I always wanted to take part at least once, but I never decided, I don’t believe in it.

For me, this magazine at one time was like a girlfriend; a lot was written there about relationships with the opposite sex. Everything you are embarrassed to ask your parents about can be read in the EU magazine. There they will describe the situation, tell you what solutions and solutions there are for various current situations. This is very important for teenagers.

Introduction

Topic of this course work– “Editorial analysis of the popular periodical “Yes!”.”

In today's rapidly developing world, readers, especially young people, are increasingly giving preference not to serious publications, but to magazines and newspapers. Prominent sociologist A. Valentinov in one of his articles dubbed modern glossy magazines for women the “Bible for girls.” We emphasize that the range of youth periodicals, in particular those intended for women and girls, is quite wide.

With the help of magazines they learn news, fashion trends and find answers to their questions. That is why it is necessary to analyze the market for periodicals and identify

The editor of a children's magazine must create an educational publication, present information in such a way that it is accessible and interesting to the young reader.

For our research, we took the popular monthly magazine for girls over 16 years old “Yes!”. The magazine covers topics that satisfy the needs of the readership - fashion, gender relations, beauty.

The purpose of our work is to conduct an editorial analysis of the periodical.

To achieve the goal, we have set ourselves the following tasks:

    Define the meaning of the concept “popular magazine”;

    Study the design of an issue of Yes! for December 2013;

    Identify popularization and entertainment techniques used in the performance;

    Identify the concept of the magazine;

    Identify the place of publication in the market of youth periodicals for girls;

    Draw a conclusion.

This course work consists of an introduction, two chapters and a conclusion, which summarizes the results.

At the end of the work there is a list of references used.

Chapter I. Recommendations of specialists on editing youth periodicals

It is necessary to provide definitions of the most important concepts for course work.

Periodical publication is a serial publication published at certain intervals, with a constant number of numbers (issues) for each year, not repeating in content, uniformly designed, numbered and (or) dated issues, having the same title 1.

A magazine is a periodical journal publication that has a permanent heading and contains articles or abstracts on various issues and literary and artistic works 2.

It is worth noting that currently magazines are divided into the following types: socio-political, scientific, popular science, production and technical, popular, literary and artistic, abstract 3. This division is based on the latest research and reflects the practice that has developed in the field of journal publishing. The publication we are researching is one of the popular ones.

Essential features of journals include purpose, readership, and thematic focus 4 .

In addition, they also name the nature of the information, the way it is presented, and indicate the formative significance of periodicity, internal structure, and authorship.

The readership of a magazine is understood quite broadly and depends on various factors: profession, type of activity, specialization of the reader, age, gender, general culture, erudition and interests. According to the reader's address, magazines are divided into two groups: mass and special. The publication we are analyzing belongs to the mass group, since it is a popular magazine, and the reader of this publication is not an expert in the subject matter of the magazine. In addition to popular ones, the mass group also includes popular science, socio-political and literary and artistic magazines.

It is necessary to cite the meaning of the concept of “popular magazine” according to GOST 7.60-2003 - these are magazines “that publish various materials on issues of culture, sports, everyday life, leisure and are also aimed at a wide readership” 5. Their topics cover a wide range of issues from the most different areas life and activities of society. Popular youth magazines are very diverse in their design methods, designed to make the material attractive and practical (for example, patterns in fashion magazines, an abundance of posters, large colorful photographs, eye-catching bright elements) 6 .

According to the nature of the information, all youth publications are divided into universal ones, which cover different areas of young people’s lives, and specialized ones, which talk about certain life problems and specific areas of knowledge. It should be noted that the entry of publications into the segment of teenage and youth press is ensured primarily by their audience: the age of readers is 12-24 years old, the core is 14-17 years old 7 .

It must be emphasized that this moment There is no clear definition of the concept of “youth”. In most explanatory dictionaries, youth is interpreted as “the younger generation, young people.” TO general use definition adopted from Soviet encyclopedia: “Young people are a socio-demographic group experiencing a period of formation of social and psychophysiological maturity, adaptation to the fulfillment of social roles of adults. Usually, people between the ages of 14 and 30 are considered youth.” Despite this, this definition is also already outdated (the article examines youth from the perspective of Marxist-Leninist theory).

After analyzing several articles on the topic of youth magazines and reviewing the publications themselves, we can identify topics that are of interest to the youth audience. Readers are concerned about the details of the personal lives of stars, their success stories, and they are no less concerned about issues of survival in society (relationships with parents and the opposite sex, aggression at school, choice of a future profession). The female audience is characterized by an interest in horoscopes, fortune telling and tests.

Based on the above, we highlight the following thematic blocks:

    news, rumors and scandals of show business

    new names in music, styles and directions

    youth fashion

    psychology, love stories, sex

    vocational guidance, career

    relationship with parents

    earnings problems, money

    extreme sports, travel

    original hobbies

    computer games and internet

    alcohol and drugs

    tests, horoscopes, jokes, crosswords 8.

Thus, we conclude that modern youth receives a picture of the world from the media, products popular culture and your life experience.

It should be noted that the teenage and youth press is an established element common system mass communication. It “is designed to introduce the younger generation to the intellectual and spiritual potential of society, to be an important channel for transmitting information from the older generation to the younger and at the same time a means of communication that allows them to communicate with each other” 9 .

Youth magazines are distinguished from other periodicals by their non-academic style of presentation and presentation of materials. The use of youth slang is typical, for example, “boyfriend”, “break away”, “ancestors”. “The authors communicate with their readers on a first-name basis, although they assure that they try not to slip into familiarity” 10.

In addition, in articles in youth magazines there are often specific techniques for reflecting reality, original means of expression, and special ways of contacting the audience. Thanks to this, the text becomes understandable only to that part of the audience that is “initiated”. “In language they come together if high and low, good and evil do not mix.”

The leaders in the youth press market today are publications that appeared in the early 2000s. Below we give examples of magazines with a press audience coverage of more than 1% - these are the magazines we analyzed: Yes!, Oops!, Seventeen, Elle Girl and others. The segment of youth magazines also includes music (Bravo.Posters, Rolling Stones) and computer publications (PC Games, Gambling and others), but they have a narrower focus.

The main functions of youth magazines and the youth press in general can be distinguished: informational, educational, educational, cognitive and socialization functions. This group also includes a special communication function, the purpose of which is to create a special information space for the exchange of opinions between representatives of a young audience 11. One of the main functions of youth publications is the cultural and educational function, since for teenagers the boundary between the process of cognition and entertainment is very blurred.

A socially oriented role was given to youth publications at the very beginning of their existence. Magazines should not only inform their young reader, but also give him guidance in the world of politics, culture, education, and thereby raise him to be a full-fledged member of society.

Thus, the teenage and youth press is a mature element of the general system of mass communication. It is “designed to introduce the younger generation to the intellectual and spiritual potential society, to be an important channel for transmitting information from the older generation to the younger and at the same time a means of communication that allows one to communicate with each other.”
