Of course, active users of emoticons in industrial scale social networks have become, Vkontakte is no exception. For the convenience of users, so that people do not have to remember and manually write codes to display certain pictures, Contact uses a tooltip - a special drop-down list where you can visually select the desired emoticon and insert it into a message or post on the wall. But this list does not contain all the emoticon codes supported by VK, only the most popular ones (otherwise the list would be too cumbersome).

But with Unicode characters, the situation is different, emoticons written with this code will be supported everywhere and always. Knowing the smiley codes in the Unicode standard, you can insert absolutely any of almost 1000 smileys anywhere in VK, even in the status, even on the wall.

How to put a smiley in VK status?
