Introduction

Who is a mentalist?

A mentalist is a person who uses mental acuity, hypnosis and the power of suggestion. Master of managing thoughts and behavior.

Who do you think knows you best? Maybe your spouse? Or maybe parents or friends?

Now imagine that you enter a room and after a couple of seconds you realize that you have been read like an open book. A stranger you've never met before knows more about you than your closest dear person. This stranger can tell you about your profession, your income level, and what you had for breakfast. He can point out your strengths and weak sides. Shed light on your deepest and deepest secrets or even talk to one of your deceased relatives.

It seems that this person has known you since infancy. No, even worse! It was as if he had been watching you since birth and looked straight into your soul every minute.

Who is this omniscient gentleman?

Mentalist!

Mentalists have surrounded us for many centuries. IN Ancient world they were called seers and oracles. For years they took on the role of heralds. Today you can find some of them at carnivals and fairs, reading the palms of those who want to drop five dollars or so. Others declare themselves to be “soul healers” or clairvoyants and claim to be able to communicate with the souls of the dead or read minds.

But the most famous mentalist of our time is Patrick Jane, main character popular television series "The Mentalist". Jane fictional character. According to the authors, with his ability to “read” people, he helps the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) solve the most terrible crimes.

Each episode begins with a definition: “A mentalist is a person who uses mental acuity, hypnosis and the power of suggestion. A master of controlling thoughts and behavior.” Time after time, Patrick Jane demonstrates all these abilities. And his unique method of catching criminals often turns out to be much more productive than forensic technologies and others traditional methods CBD.

In the past, Jane was a famous participant in various television shows, where he claimed to be able to communicate with the dead. According to the script in one of these shows, the host asks Patrick's opinion about serial killer operating in the city at that time. The criminal, enraged by the mentalist's answer, declares him a fraud and kills his wife and little daughter. Tormented by remorse, Patrick goes into the shadows, gets rid of his popular mystical guise and begins working for the police as a consultant.

From this moment it begins classic story a budding superhero who strives to use his superpowers for good. Except for one small detail: anyone can acquire these superpowers. For example, you can become a mentalist no worse than Patrick Jane.

Mentalist or magician?

You've probably wondered what the difference is between a mentalist and a magician. Well, actually the difference is quite big. Many magicians are also mentalists, and vice versa. In both cases, they use secret methods and knowledge to create a mystical performance. The difference is that magicians talk about supernatural powers, helping them make the cut rope whole again or find it all the time the desired card, while mentalists in their performances rely on intellectual and thinking abilities.

As I have already said, perhaps the most impressive art of mentalists is the ability, with seeming ease, through simple observation, to learn a frightening amount about a person in the first minutes of a meeting. This kind of "snapshot" usually helps a lot when Patrick Jane has a depot with suspects or witnesses who have something to hide. Such tricks, by the way, not only help to display clean water liars, who are always a dime a dozen around, but will also come in handy if you want to establish contact with someone at the next party.

Dear reader!

You are holding a special book in your hands. She opens a completely new direction - a series of books called “The Mentalist*”. For many of us, the very word “mentalist” is still unfamiliar. But in the West, “mentalists” have long been called those who use mental acuity, hypnosis or suggestion and control thoughts, behavior and situations. Such super-popular films and TV series as “Lie to Me”, “The Mentalist”, “Clairvoyant” were even made on this topic.

We hope that the books in the “Mentalist*” series will become your absolute mental advantage. They will allow you to control the situation and achieve your goals using methods and techniques that many people consider inaccessible, “parapsychological” and even “psychic”. Observation, the power of suggestion, hypnosis, knowledge of human nature, telepathy, detecting lies, extrasensory sensitivity - all these and many other “superpowers” are not the province of “magicians” and “psychics”, but with appropriate training are available to every person and rely solely on the power and the flexibility of our minds and bodies.

I truly wrote this book amazing person. His name is George Kreskin. He is the most famous mentalist of our time. Kreskin became famous for devoting his entire life to studying the possibilities human consciousness. And he is ready to demonstrate his achievements both in front of television cameras and on public speaking, and during the actual investigation of particularly complex cases.

Kreskin is paradoxical. When he was still a teenager, he won the TV show “The World's Youngest Hypnotist” (analogous to our “Battle of Psychics”), but since then he has never ceased to repeat that there is nothing “psychic” in what he does can not. For more than 60 years of performances and concerts, he flew more than 5,000,000 km, but did not “go out of fashion” and continues to shock millions of people to this day. He regularly helps the FBI and police investigate particularly complicated cases. Tom Hanks made a film about him, “The Great Buck Howard,” with the magnificent John Malkovich in leading role, but the secrets of his abilities remained shrouded in mystery.

Kreskin is called “Nostradamus of the 20th century.” So, in 2004, he predicted with 100% accuracy the outcome of the elections to the Parliament of Canada, as well as the fact that exactly 14 months later this Parliament would receive a vote of no confidence for the first time in Canadian history and would be dissolved. And in December 2007, exactly 11 months before the US presidential election, he predicted that the next president would be the “dark horse” Barack Obama (although completely different candidates were considered the favorites at that time).

At the same time, Kreskin himself, as befits a true mentalist, always says to himself: “I am not a magician or a psychic. There is absolutely nothing supernatural in what I do. I I study the possibilities of human consciousness inherent in each of us from birth.”

Nowadays, there are a great variety of methods for developing a person’s “parapsychic” abilities. And sometimes it’s not easy to understand them. Someone wants to learn how to read other people's thoughts and immediately determine whether a person is telling the truth or a lie. Another plans to control the mood and behavior of other people. And the third seeks to develop his own extrasensory abilities. I appreciate this book because it doesn't let me lose sight of what's important. Under light sauce Kreskin never tires of repeating various mental techniques, techniques and examples from a more than eventful life: the basic tool of a mentalist is not the knowledge of some individual psychological “special techniques”, but his mind and body, capable at any moment, like a laser, concentrate on the problem and achieve your goals. Each of us is capable of learning this. And in this we are limited not by our capabilities, but by our expectations, primarily from ourselves.

Sincerely, editor Alexey Skokov

PREFACE

Preparing this book, my third, was like giving birth to a child - and just like a child, it has two parents. It's me and Robert Bahr - a talented writer and a person with a strange ability to think in unison with me. On these pages, he was able to amazingly accurately and completely convey my most subtle feelings.

Some of you will find this book a real paradox. Before you finish reading it, you will be using extrasensory perception and will be able to do things you never thought possible. However, I must tell you right now, and I will explain this in detail later: the very concept of “extrasensory perception” is completely unnecessary.

I am very critical of many statements made by so-called “psychics” and the like. However, in my opinion, the darkest day of the life of the great Houdini was the one when, tired of demonstrating salvation from various mortal dangers and having failed as a magician, he devoted himself to exposing mediums. As you will discover in the pages of this book, although there are deceivers and frauds among those who claim to be consciousness researchers, the facts - as you will see for yourself - cannot be ignored.

Many aspects of parapsychology - extrasensory perception, hypnotic trance, clairvoyance and the like - have long been awaited scientific research. I am confident that from their ashes will rise an unprecedented knowledge of the mental abilities of man. This book is just the first step. It is based on unusual skills, mental abilities, the development of which I have devoted my entire life. I've used them to entertain other people since I was a child, and there's no reason to stop you from doing the same. Some of the tricks you will do, especially in the beginning, are simple illusions - placebos designed to establish necessary relationships between you and your audience. Later you will achieve amazing results that no one can explain - neither you nor me.

Whether you use this book as a guide for a speech, give it to a friend to read, or read it in the quiet privacy of your home, I hope you enjoy it and that it turns out to be what it was intended to be - an amazing learning experience, a mixture wonder, laughter, intrigue and joy, which is most easily appreciated in the theater of your mind. You just have to pull back the curtain - I believe you will never want to close it again.

Best regards, Kreskin

CHAPTER FIRST.

In the beginning there was a word...

Everything is a miracle. The amazing order of nature, the circulation of hundreds of millions of worlds with approximately a million suns, the activity of light, the life of animals, all these are great and endless miracles

“How do you do this?”

I get asked this question a hundred times a year, both in person and in letters, and not just by those who have seen me perform in clubs, on college campuses, at special “concerts,” or on television. Some of those curious are well-known celebrities.

My answer is always the same: I am not a psychic, not an occultist, not a fortune teller. I am not a telepath, not a medium, not a “hypnotist”. There is nothing supernatural in what I do.

I am a scientist, a researcher in the field of developing the abilities of consciousness and “extrasensory” perception. And I show people what I discovered.

About 85 percent of a typical Kreskin “concert,” as I call my performances, employs these mental laws—which is why I call myself a “mentalist.” The remaining 15 percent of each concert is usually devoted to traditional magic tricks, designed primarily to connect with the audience.

A stranger you've never met before knows more about you than your nearest and dearest. This stranger can tell you about your profession, your income level, and what you had for breakfast. He can point out your strengths and weaknesses with piercing accuracy.

In the Ancient world they were called seers and oracles. For years they took on the role of heralds. Today you can find some of them at carnivals and fairs, reading the palms of those who want to drop five dollars or so. Others declare themselves to be “soul healers” or clairvoyants and claim to be able to communicate with the souls of the dead or read minds.

But the most famous mentalist of our time is Patrick Jane, the main character of the popular television series " Mentalist". Jane is a fictional character.

And his unique method of catching criminals often proves to be much more productive than forensic technology and other traditional CBD methods.

In the past, Jane was a famous participant in various television shows, where he claimed to be able to communicate with the dead. According to the script, in one of these shows, the host asks Patrick's opinion about the serial killer who was operating in the city at that time. The criminal, enraged by the mentalist's answer, declares him a fraud and kills his wife and little daughter. Tormented by remorse, Patrick goes into the shadows, gets rid of his popular mystical guise and begins working for the police as a consultant.

From here begins the classic story of a budding superhero who strives to use his superpowers for good.

The difference is that magicians talk about supernatural forces that help them make a cut rope whole again or find the right card all the time, while mentalists rely on intellectual and thinking abilities in their performances.

As I have already said, perhaps the most impressive art of mentalists is the ability, with seeming ease, through simple observation, to learn a frightening amount about a person in the first minutes of a meeting. This kind of "snap observation" is usually very helpful when Patrick Jane is dealing with suspects or witnesses who have something to hide. Such tricks, by the way, not only help to expose liars, of whom there are always a dime a dozen, but will also come in handy if you want to establish contact with someone at your next party.

There is hardly a single area in your life that can be harmed by mental art. These techniques can be useful in the boardroom, on the playing field, or before a major purchase. Is the seller overcharging or really offering a good deal?

We all lack information. But will it happen that we know too much? This is an interesting question, and I will go into more detail a little later, because sometimes I think that this gift can become a heavy burden.

Do mentalists have supernatural powers?

Psychometry is essentially a form of what is called extrasensory perception. Extrasensory perception, in turn, is defined as the ability to obtain information about a person or object through supernatural means. The term "psychometrics" was invented by a physician named Joseph Rhodes Buchanan in early XIX century. He created a theory according to which any object emits certain emanations, or energies. By feeling them, a person can find out information about this object, as well as about its current or former owner.

Complete nonsense!

Let me explain in the clearest terms that Jane is not a clairvoyant and does not use any kind of extrasensory perception. As do I, by the way. In fact, Patrick Jane takes every opportunity to catch mediums and clairvoyants in lies. Himself for a long time fooled the public and therefore knows that even the most convincing mediums are nothing more than showmen and swindlers. The object in your hand does not emit any emanations, but at least ones that could tell you what its owner ate for dinner.

There have been moments in each of our lives when we inexplicably felt or knew something. U different people The level of sensitivity is not the same: some have acute hearing, others have increased sensitivity to odors. And it is certainly possible that in moments of “eureka insight” we simply listen better to our own feelings.

But we are not in a fictional reality, we are not heroes of comic books or science fiction series. That's life. And in life, we can receive information about the owner of any object by being receptive and developing the ability to skillfully observe. Clairvoyants claim that, unlike ordinary people, they have a gift that appears and disappears depending on the situation. And they use these so-called energies to push for acceptance certain decisions those who believe them.

Mediums go even further; they say that they can communicate with the spirits of the dead. Their goal is also to use these abilities to force others to make difficult choices. And they also call their abilities a gift rather than a reliable skill. For me, everyone can talk to spirits, but they have never answered anyone yet.

Without supernatural powers, Patrick Jane is the Sherlock Holmes of our day. With the help of his insight and ability to observe, he reaches incredible heights in his business. And anyone can master these skills.

Who am I?

You might have a completely legitimate question: who am I and why do I consider myself entitled to teach others mental art?

Well, the fact is that I am a magician and a mentalist myself.

I have honed my skills for decades and have unraveled secrets that you will not learn about from books or find on the Internet. I have been performing for many years and my audiences have included many celebrities such as Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Clintons.

But more importantly, I'm just like you. I'm not superman, I don't have so-called supernatural powers. I sleep, eat, walk and talk just like you. But I developed the abilities of a mentalist. I say with 100% certainty that my sensitivity is many times greater than yours. My memory is better and more accurate. When I talk to someone, I read him better than you could, even if you have known him for many years.

This makes me a mentalist. And this gives me the right to declare that I can teach you mental art.

Fundamentals of Mental Art

In this book, I will share with you the basics that you will need to master if you want to become a mentalist. This does not mean that in a couple of days you will be able to repeat my show in Las Vegas. To learn everything I can do, you will need a lot of time, patience and practice. But this book will give you the basis for starting your own training and explain the general principles.

Think smart, not too much

Patrick Jane works with ease and ease, right? In this chapter I will explain how he does this. To help your brain perform at its best, I will teach you how to relieve stress, focus, and increase mental productivity.

Impeccable memory

Much of what Patrick can do is based on his impeccable ability to remember what happens. He applies accurate knowledge about the past to the current situation and, based on this, makes certain conclusions. Jane remembers the smallest details from the crime scene and the faces of the people in certain place at a certain point in time. All this helps him in investigating crimes, and can serve you well in Everyday life.

Observation is the key

In the series, Patrick is asked the question: “Are you clairvoyant?” To which he replies: “No, I’m just being attentive.” Indeed, he notices things that most people simply ignore. Jane has honed his observation skills so much that he does not miss even the smallest detail. It's a shame that too few people know about what can actually be achieved by just being a little more attentive.

Lie detection

Jane's most useful quality for CBD is perhaps his ability to detect lies. Often his colleague Teresa Lisbon will call Patrick aside after the end of the interrogation to get his opinion on how honest the suspect was. I'll share with you sure signs, by which you can identify a liar, and I’ll show you a couple of reliable techniques that help you get to the bottom of the truth.

Control your audience

It is important that the mentalist is always in control of the situation, regardless of where he is: during an interrogation or on stage in front of an audience. I'll tell you how to feel confident in any situation and still influence other people. Appearance and perception is the basis of authority.

Hypnosis

Continuing on the path to gaining control, I will explain the basics of hypnosis and tell you what you can and cannot do once you have put a person into a trance. To Lisbon's displeasure, Jane often uses hypnosis to extract information from suspects and witnesses that they do not want to share for whatever reason. I will also teach you self-hypnosis to help you deal with many things that are difficult to handle in other ways.

Reading

There are few things as impressive as a detailed, accurate, and unbiased “reading.” I will show you how much you can learn about a person simply by observing them and comparing what you see with what you already know about the human condition. Patrick Jane always uses cold reading to confuse a suspect and get him talking.

Secrets of the profession

I'll show you how you can combine everything you've learned in this book into a couple of exciting tricks that are sure to amaze your friends and family.

Armed with the skills described above, you can begin your journey as a mentalist and eventually become as wonderful and respected as Patrick Jane.

Chapter 1
Think smart, not too much

Most of us are constantly told by those around us that the one who works the hardest wins, no matter what the competition. Therefore, we constantly work, work, work and work again, without a break, without giving ourselves time to think and, even worse, without giving our brain a second to rest.

So, if you previously tried your best to complete " hard work“, now you should switch to doing “smart work”. At least that's what mentalists do.

The real secret to Patrick's charisma, charm and ability to think very quickly lies in his ability to think smartly, and not long or hard. By the way, many of his colleagues do not like this somewhat detached position. It seems to them that he does not take his work seriously, although, of course, they cannot complain about the results. If Jane had tried to work harder instead of smarter, he probably wouldn't have achieved such an impressive crime-solving rate.

* The real secret to Patrick's charisma, charm and ability to think very quickly lies in his ability to think smartly, and not long or hard.

In order to use the abilities inherent in each of us to their full potential, we must first learn to take care of our own minds, use them correctly and train them like muscles. And most importantly, we must love him and treat him with due respect.

Getting rid of stress

Anyone who has ever watched police officers in action has noticed that they always rush towards dangerous situations that ordinary people trying to stay away. And most crime fighters will tell you that they love it. They will say that risk and speed force them to give their all, make them more focused, and allow them to remember what is happening better. They may be right, but only until life “on the edge” turns into painful anxiety for them. Medical research shows that people with increased anxiety produce “stress hormones” such as cortisol, which destroy brain cells.

But we all worry all the time. I'm right, aren't I?

This is how the whole world lives today, modern society. We worry about letting our children leave the house, then we worry about work. Throughout the working day we are not left with a feeling of anxiety, and when we come home, we are worried that the children should eat properly and go to bed on time.

And then we lie in bed and worry about tomorrow before going to sleep.

So we live in constant stress, and, unfortunately, most people do not even consider this abnormal. But there are several extremely important reasons why it is necessary to abandon this attitude towards life.

It is important to understand that stress destroys our ability to see things that a person who wants to become a mentalist, which is certainly our goal, should see.

In this chapter I will tell you about several simple ways reducing anxiety levels. It has been proven many times that under the influence of stress, people tend to make wrong decisions, and when we get rid of stress, we begin to think smartly.

But there is another reason why we should calm down and overcome anxiety - our health. Constant stress is bad for your health. There is a direct relationship between our level of anxiety and physical well-being. So, why not eliminate the harmful effects of stress from our lives right now?

* Constant stress is primarily bad for your health. There is a direct relationship between our level of anxiety and physical well-being.

No stress - better health

Don't believe that stress can affect your health? In vain. Because hundreds, if not thousands of different studies today unconditionally prove that stress is one of the main factors that worsen our physical state. You may have already heard that due to stress, our body increases blood pressure, which leads to malfunction of the heart muscle. Your worries can also manifest as headaches, ulcers, and worsening skin conditions. But that's not all...

Severe stress can contribute to the development of cancerous tumors and diseases such as fibromyalgia. In addition, it reduces protective properties immune system and impairs the body's ability to resist colds and other infections.

These are the worst case scenarios. If you are luckier, then stress simply will not allow you to sleep and rest normally and, as a result, use your brain resources to the maximum extent.

In order to master mental magic, you need to be healthy - physically and spiritually.

No stress - clearer thoughts

You are reading this book because you want to become a mentalist. You want to read people. You want to guess thoughts. Well, how do you want to read other people's minds when your own are clouded by worry and stress?

Yes, stress makes us think differently than we typically do in a calm, balanced state. I used the term "clouded" and it literally reflects reality. The fog of anxiety can turn us into paranoids and pessimists, it can confuse us and lead us down the wrong path.

If you are under stress, then you think in terms of fear, anxiety and negativity and, accordingly, base your actions on these feelings. Such emotions are not the strongest card in a mentalist’s treasury, so you need to get rid of them before you start moving towards your goal.

The first step towards getting rid of stress and freeing your thoughts from negativity should be the ability to relax and enjoy the moment. But it's not that simple. After so many years of constant stress, you can’t just say: “Okay, I’ll take it now and relax.” It's almost like alcoholism, stress has become a drug for us.

* The first step towards getting rid of stress and freeing your thoughts from negativity should be the ability to relax and enjoy the moment.

So, let me be your guarantor, the one who will show the way out of the cloud of fog of anxiety and stress. Let me show you the right remedy - meditation.

Meditation Basics

Meditation can be useful in almost every area of our lives. But first of all and in to a greater extent The meditation practices I will discuss are used as a way to focus consciousness. You will learn to relax, concentrate and at the same time bring fine tuning your vigilance.

I once spent a whole month in one of the most beautiful places on Earth - the city of Bengaluru in India. Every morning I woke up in a place of complete serenity and dedicated my day to meditation and yoga. I met people who were strong spiritually and physically. There I learned the power of silence.

Believe it or not, I spent three whole days in silence. I did not speak a word or hear any other voices during this time. This incredible practice helps develop intuitive abilities to unimaginable heights. Having let in the silence, you begin to understand that words have a completely different meaning than we are used to putting into them. And the more prejudices and habits you can leave behind, the better your mental abilities can develop.

During meditation, you absorb the energy of the world around you. This is sometimes called “surrendering to the flow of life.” Your muscles relax, your mind calms, and your intuition sharpens.

Scientists and researchers have identified numerous beneficial features meditation, for example:

♦ slowing down the aging process;

♦ pain relief;

♦ boost of energy;

♦ removal of cholesterol from the body;

♦ reducing the number of pathogenic bacteria;

♦ Increased blood flow to the brain, which improves thinking abilities and memory.

* Having let in the silence, you begin to understand that words have a completely different meaning than we are used to putting into them.

* And the more prejudices and habits you can leave behind, the better your mental abilities can develop.

So let's learn to meditate!

Who do you think knows you best? Maybe your spouse? Or maybe parents or friends?

Now imagine that you enter a room and after a couple of seconds you realize that you have been read like an open book. A stranger you've never met before knows more about you than your nearest and dearest. This stranger can tell you about your profession, your income level, and what you had for breakfast. He can point out your strengths and weaknesses with piercing accuracy.

But the most famous mentalist of our time is Patrick Jane, the main character of the popular television series The Mentalist. Jane is a fictional character.

And his unique method of catching criminals often proves to be much more productive than forensic technology and other traditional CBD methods.

In the past, Jane was a famous participant in various television shows, where he claimed that he could communicate with the dead.

This kind of "snapshot" usually helps a lot when Patrick Jane has a depot with suspects or witnesses who have something to hide.

Psychometry is essentially a form of so-called extrasensory perception. Extrasensory perception, in turn, is defined as the ability to obtain information about a person or thing through supernatural means. The term "psychometry" was invented by a physician named Joseph Rhodes Buchanan in the early 19th century. He created a theory according to which any object emits certain emanations, or energies. By feeling them, a person can find out information about this object, as well as about its current or former owner.

Complete nonsense

Let me explain in the clearest terms that Jane is not a clairvoyant and does not use any kind of extrasensory perception. As do I, by the way. In fact, Patrick Jane takes every opportunity to catch mediums and clairvoyants in lies. He himself has been fooling the public for a long time and therefore knows that even the most convincing mediums are nothing more than showmen and swindlers. The object in your hand does not emit any emanations, at least not those that could tell you what its owner had for dinner.

There have been moments in each of our lives when we inexplicably felt or knew something. Different people have different levels of sensitivity: some have acute hearing, others have increased sensitivity to odors.

And they use these so-called energies to push those who believe them to make certain decisions.

I have been honing my skills for decades and have unraveled secrets that you won’t learn about from a book or find on the Internet. I have been performing for many years and my audiences have included many celebrities such as Bruce Willis, DemiMoore, Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Clintons.

Jane remembers the smallest details from a crime scene and the faces of people in a certain place at a certain point in time.
I will share with you the sure signs by which you can identify a liar, and show you a couple of reliable techniques that will help you get to the bottom of the truth.
Control your audience
It is important that the mentalist is always in control of the situation, regardless of where he is: during an interrogation or on stage in front of an audience. I'll tell you how to feel confident in any situation and still influence other people. Appearance and perception are the basis of authority.
Patrick Jane always uses "cold reading" to confuse the suspect and get him to talk.

So, if you were previously trying your best to complete the “hard work”, now you should switch to doing the “smart work”. At least that's what mentalists do.

The real secret to Patrick's charisma, charm and ability to think very quickly lies in his ability to think smartly, not for long or a lot. By the way, many of his colleagues do not like this somewhat detached position. It seems to them that he does not take his work seriously, although, of course, they cannot complain about the results. If Jane had tried to work harder instead of smarter, he probably wouldn't have achieved such an impressive crime-solving rate.
* The real secret of charisma, charm and

Patrick's ability to think is very

fast lies in his ability to think

smart, but not for long or a lot.
In order to use the abilities inherent in each of us to their full potential, we must first learn to take care of our own minds, use them correctly and train them like muscles. And most importantly, we must love him and treat him with due respect.
Getting rid of stress
Anyone who has ever watched police officers in action has noticed that they always rush towards dangerous situations that ordinary people try to stay away from.

This is how the whole world today, modern society lives.

It is important to understand that stress undermines our ability to see things that a person who wants to become a mentalist, which is certainly our goal, should see.

In this chapter, I will tell you some simple ways to reduce your anxiety levels.

* Constant stress is bad

first of all for health. Exists

direct relationship between the level of our

anxiety and physical well-being.
No stress - better health
Don't believe that stress can affect your health? In vain. Because hundreds, if not thousands of different studies today unconditionally prove that stress is one of the main factors that worsens our physical condition. You may have already heard that due to stress in our body, blood pressure increases, which leads to malfunctions of the heart muscle. Your worries can also manifest as headaches, ulcers, and worsening skin conditions. But that's not all...

Severe stress can contribute to the development of cancer and diseases such as fibromyalgia in humans. In addition, it reduces the protective properties of the immune system and impairs the body's ability to resist colds and other infections.

These are the worst case scenarios. If you are luckier, then stress simply will not allow you to sleep and rest normally and, as a result, use your brain resources to the maximum extent.

In order to master mental magic, you need to be healthy - physically and spiritually.

* The first step towards getting rid of

stress and freeing thoughts from

the negative thing for you should be skill

relax and enjoy the moment.
So, let me be your guarantor, the one who will show the way out of the cloud of fog of anxiety and stress. Let me show you the right remedy - meditation.
Meditation Basics
Meditation can be useful in almost every area of our lives. But first and foremost, the meditative practices that I will discuss are used as a way of focusing consciousness. You will learn to relax, concentrate, and at the same time fine-tune your alertness.

Scientists and researchers have identified numerous benefits of meditation, such as:

  • slowing down the aging process;

  • pain relief;

  • cheerfulness;

  • removal of cholesterol from the body;

  • reducing the number of pathogenic bacteria;

  • increased blood flow to the brain, which improves thinking abilities and memory.

* By allowing silence into yourself, you begin

understand that words mean something completely different

the meaning that we are accustomed to investing in them.
* And the more prejudices and habits you

you can leave, the better they can

develop your mental abilities.
So let's learn to meditate!
Pose
The first step to truly effective meditation is proper posture. In addition, it is important to find a calm, quiet place conducive to relaxation, where nothing and no one will distract you.

Your spine does not have to be perfectly straight and stiff like an ironing board, but in order for energy currents to move freely through your body, you also do not need to hunch over. When settling down for meditation, imagine that your body is positioned like the neck of a jug, waiting for an elastic stream of water to pour out of it. Sometimes the stream is very thin and the water barely drips, and sometimes it flows out strongly and quickly in a copious stream. Of course, nothing will physically flow out of you, but you should feel how energy circulates between your body and the surrounding space. If you take the right posture, the flow of this flow will become optimal.

If this image doesn't help, try imagining a silver thread. One end of it is fixed on the top of your head, and the other in the heights of heaven. This thread gently pulls you towards the stars into the depths of space. You sit straight and firm without feeling uncomfortable.
Breath
I have found some amazing breathing exercises for myself that help balance internal energy. When in moments of depression you are told to take a deep breath, these are not empty words. Breathing has amazing therapeutic benefits, especially when used in conjunction with other relaxation exercises.

First, let's talk about how breathing is important not only during meditation, but also in your everyday life. There is a direct relationship between the way you breathe and the way you feel. I like to say that the breath is in human body plays the same role as the camshaft in the mechanism. If this part breaks, your car snorts and sneezes every couple of meters. If the camshaft is in order, the car drives smoothly.

* It should be remembered that breathing is very

important in our daily life.
There is a direct relationship between the way you breathe and the way you feel.
My master in the art of meditation, Sri SriRaviShankar, uses an amazing exercise called “breath of fire.” Of course, it is best to have someone who can guide you through meditation techniques if you are just starting to learn them. But I will try to describe them to you.

To begin with, you should breathe deeply and naturally while sitting in a cross-legged position or just on your knees. Place your hands on your knees with your palms facing out.

*Continue to breathe slowly and deeply while

then start focusing on how

breath rises from the diaphragm into the lungs.
Feel the diaphragm contract and then expand - the secret is to focus on this.

  • Now, every time you exhale, forcefully push the air out. The same thing at the moment of inhalation - draw in the air stronger and deeper. This is energetic cleansing. The feeling is great!

  • Continue to push the air through you. Inhale - exit, faster and faster, like a lump of snow rolling down from the top of a mountain, accelerate faster and faster. This exercise may cause dizziness, so it is important to consult with your doctor or other trusted health professional before starting any exercise.

  • After some time (no more than five minutes for a beginner), you will reach a point after which you will not be able to continue breathing at the same pace. Then start to slow down, and breathe deeply and steadily again for the next five minutes.
I think you'll be surprised at how clear and focused your thoughts become after this exercise. However, this technique is not the only one I use. Perhaps you will like others better. Here is an exercise that I learned during my trip to India - “healing breathing”.

This technique will help you free yourself from any external stimuli.

On the Internet you can find many pages and individual articles about healing breathing and images associated with it. Some people say that you need to look for the light, while others think that during this exercise you need to think about how much the Universe loves you. But for us here it is important to understand exactly how to breathe in order to calm your body and spirit.

role in perception, reception and

reproduction of information. From state

your his mental body directly depends

the way your brain works

as well as the degree of availability of information,

stored in it.
Imagine that you are preparing for an important test and are very worried about how everything will go. Not the best The best way occupy the evening, right? And even less pleasant is that your brain will try to quickly forget all the information that you are trying so hard to put into it. Well, let's see how we can turn this situation into a more favorable direction. Close your eyes and imagine the desired image from the past. Before taking a test in biology, for example, a student must recall a successful laboratory experience. A basketball player should mentally relive his best shot. By making associative connections between past success and the present moment, you will feel much more confident, and your memory will begin to absorb information like a sponge.

You can also repeat positive statements like: “I am a very worthy person!” These words can be a huge boost to your self-esteem during an exam, while you're trying to learn something not very interesting, or even just when you're doing your normal routine. For example, imagine this situation: your boyfriend has just dumped you, and, naturally, you feel absolutely terrible. But tomorrow you have to speak at an important meeting, and the risk of failing is very high if you cannot finally concentrate. Just imagine this guy's face and say, "No matter what you say, I'm still a beautiful girl." This will take your mind off stressful situation, will help you tune in to a positive wave and direct your energy in the right direction, that is, for the upcoming performance.

You can also lift your spirits by adding small details to the decor of the room where you study. Scented candles or sticks will help create an atmosphere of relaxation. In addition, use pastel, muted colors and soft shadows. Here are just a few practical tricks that can help you absorb information better. And in a difficult situation, when you need to quickly make an important decision, simply evoke images of serenity and confidence in your head (for example, you can think about the blue of the sea or the refreshing greenery of the village).
The power of the mind
Now it is very fashionable to say that our mind is capable of giving us everything we could want. But let's avoid the absurdities. There is no mysticism here. I'm sure no one has ever been able to use meditation techniques as an ATM machine. And although some books claim that simply focusing on money can make it appear, I can’t promise you that.

However, I believe that if you set a goal, focus on achieving it, and put it at the top of your priority list, your brain can do amazing things to help you get there. Meditation and dreaming of a million dollars alone will not bring them to your doorstep, especially if you don’t even try to make any kind of plan for getting that kind of money. This does not apply to the situation where you are meditating to calm yourself before robbing a bank, which I certainly cannot condone.

Seriously, you just need to set clear goals for yourself: to be happy, successful, healthy, and so on, then your brain will help you achieve them. I'll show you how.
Follow the plan
What do you want to achieve, what goals do you set for yourself? Whatever it is, you need to specifically formulate it and write it down. For example, the desire to lose weight is too vague. Extreme precision is required. How much exactly do you want to lose? What time frame do you mean?

Once your goal is transferred to paper, you can move on to the second stage.

Meditate for ten to fifteen minutes every day, determined to move towards your goal, no matter how long it takes. Can you promise yourself not to give up under any circumstances?

Next, you should set clear deadlines for your project. It is important that the deadlines are realistic. Can you lose thirty kilograms in a week? And don't dream. In general, when we're talking about about timing, come down from heaven. Think it over carefully.

The final step in this plan is to determine how you will determine that you have achieved your goal. Sometimes success is obvious. For example, the arrow on the scale will clearly show whether you have lost weight or not. But what if your goal lies in the realm of spirituality and emotion? How will you know that you have reached your goal? How much have you changed, how to measure the degree and depth of the changes that have occurred?

Make sure you remember to write down your goal. Every day, read your notes out loud and say them to yourself.

* What do you want to achieve, what are your goals?

set before yourself? Whatever it is,

and write it down.
Think positively
It's hard to underestimate the power positive thinking. Before you begin the meditations or other steps that I talked about above, I want you to just sit down and imagine your success, believe in it. You clearly saw what your path to achieving your goal should be, and what your life will be like after that.

Can you imagine yourself as a winner? Can you imagine what you did?

All these words may seem like empty chatter and nonsense to you, but believe me, it actually works. Most successful athletes say that in the minutes and hours before an important match, game or fight they think about winning. They imagine how they drop the ball into the net, send their fastest ball flying, or score the most beautiful goal. These positive images give them confidence in success and properly tune the subconscious. If your mind sees something happening, even if it is just a figment of your imagination, then your heart begins to believe that it is possible, and this gives a good chance of success.

So, get started now. Sit down and paint a vivid image of success in front of your mind's eye. Don't just dream. Consistently play out the desired events in your mind. You should practically feel their reality. You succeded?

Meditate with a goal in mind
Now let's try to combine the meditation exercises I talked about above with the technique of visualizing success.

First, re-read the goal you wrote down and begin sequentially performing the stages of meditation. But this time, end the exercise by imagining your plan in action. Imagine yourself on the big movie screen. Your role is to fulfill all points of the plan and achieve the goal. Rendering may take a few seconds or minutes. This is entirely at your discretion, but try not to fuss or rush.

Imagine as many details as possible.

What colors surround you? What smells? How do you feel every time you get one step closer to your goal? Try to experience the smallest details as fully as possible.

Over time, this visualization will become more and more real to you. For the first couple of days or even a week, let the action unfold on the big movie screen. Later, transfer it to the theater stage, after a few more days, I want your visualization to move to the very room where you are. Imagine all this happening right here before your eyes. I want you to bring it closer and closer to yourself and not lose sight of a single detail.

Do this exercise every day. The results can be stunning. The brighter and more real your visualization, the closer it is to being translated into reality.

Overcoming difficulties
The process I just described is harder for some people than for others. If you find yourself trying too hard to visualize, or if you are having trouble visualizing at all, there is no need to panic or give up. Remember, we are trying to relieve stress, not the other way around.

Some people are naturally difficult to work with visual images. Maybe you're just not a visual person and find it easier to deal with auditory or emotional sensations.

If you encounter such an obstacle, close your eyes and do the following:

  • Use your imagination and imagine a ruler. Clearly draw its shape and divisions on it before your eyes.

  • Use your imagination and imagine a fruit. Feel the taste.

  • Use your imagination and imagine a glass. Imagine him rising into the air above the table.

  • Use your imagination and imagine green grass. Feel the touch of wet grass on your feet.

  • Use your imagination and imagine the moon. Imagine what it would be like to visit the moon, imagine how your body must feel in its atmosphere.

  • Use your imagination and imagine a celebrity. Imagine that you are standing very close. How does it feel?

  • Use your imagination and imagine a candle. Feel as if you are passing your hand directly over the flame.

  • Use your imagination and imagine the sun. Imagine yourself bathing in its warm rays.
If you managed to imagine all of the above, then you can create any images that you may need. You just need to practice a little. Believe that you can, and everything will work out.

By reciting a mantra every morning and doing visualization every evening, you are on the path to developing concentration and intuition, like Patrick Jane.

Remember the goal
Now that all the steps towards the goal have been determined and you are getting closer to victory, the main thing is to remember the reward and not pay attention to any obstacles. Shut off from negativity and don’t listen to pessimists. Many will try to break your resolve. Make every effort to leave such an environment, communicate more with positive-minded people. Which category do you think your family and friends belong to?

But more than anyone else, you must believe in yourself. I'm sure each of us has ups and downs. For everyone there comes a moment of self-doubt. Yes, it would be great to have a crystal ball of predictions and know in advance which decisions are wrong so that you can change course in time. We fuss along with the financial markets and, in complete helplessness, think how great it would be to know exactly when the best time is to buy or sell. securities. But it's so difficult to achieve anything. After all, in real world We can only learn about the fall in quotes at the same time as the NASDAQ. Therefore, while the whole world is going from hot to cold, you just need to take control of your own reaction to what is happening.

About ten years ago I was invited to perform at a party hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger. I gave some pretty successful performances and one evening I found myself walking through the garden shoulder to shoulder with the future governor of California. We started talking, I asked how things were going with him.

“Everything is always great with me!” - he answered.

Like a complete sheep, I started to contradict him: “It doesn’t happen like that. How can everything be great with you all the time?”

He did not stand on ceremony with me and directly said: “Who are you to say that this cannot happen to me? What's not great about me? I have a great house, a great wife, a great family and I just finished filming another movie."

Already slightly embarrassed, I replied: “But don’t you have bad mood? Then everything doesn’t seem so cool!”

He assured me that this happens to him too: “It happens to everyone.” better mood. But it passes... sooner or later. You need to understand that the mood is just chemical reaction in our body, it ends and you feel good again.”

What he said amazed me, moreover, I took these words very close to my heart. I sincerely thanked Arnold for this life wisdom. In fact, he trained his mind to always remain positive and focused, just as he trained his body to always be strong and healthy.

Meditation, breathing exercises and visualization will help you train your mind, you will have the opportunity to control your mood at any time in your life. Even if you don’t work on any specific goal, you will at least get rid of stress and get out of the cloud of negativity. As a result, your brain will work much more efficiently and clearly.

* Meditation, breathing exercises and

visualization will help you in training

your mind, you will have the opportunity

manage your mood at any time

periods of life.
Even as a mentalist, I experience ups and downs. Some nights I feel the energy of the audience better, others worse. But in general, I achieve a successful performance and a particularly accurate “reading” precisely when I take time to meditate before the performance. As they say, luck favors the well prepared.

And now, my friend, you are well prepared to achieve the heights of mental art.
