At one time, the famous Russian gymnast was considered a sex symbol domestic sports and could not complain about the lack of fans, but she always carefully hid the details of her personal life from prying eyes. Svetlana Khorkina’s husband is unanimous with his wife in this regard, because by type of service he is a general Federal service security must be a discreet and secretive person.

Vera Glagoleva's husband Kirill Shubsky and Svetlana Khorkina

Rumors about the connection between the famous gymnast and businessman Shubsky arose after Svetlana gave birth to a son in 2005, after finishing her sports career. Neither she nor Kirill commented on all these conversations, and Khorkina was not going to reveal the name of the father of her child, and said that she gave birth to a son only for herself. Only after the release of the gymnast’s autobiographical book “Somersaults in Heels” the veil of secrecy was lifted a little.

Everything that Svetlana had been silent about for so long became clear after her story about an affair with a certain businessman named Kirill, and then the parallels between her and Shubsky became clearer. The connection with Vera Glagoleva’s husband, Kirill Shubsky, became possible due to the fact that the businessman, who headed the large shipbuilding holding Soglasie-Alliance at the time when Khorkina was shining on the gymnastics platform, was a member of the national Olympic Committee.

In her autobiographical book, Khorkina described the moment she met Kirill, which took place in Lausanne, where both arrived as part of the same delegation from the Olympic Committee. Shubsky immediately captivated the gymnast with his gallant manner, and close communication began between them. Then they had to part for a long time, but Kirill gave his new friend a phone, through which they constantly kept in touch.

Khorkina says that her new acquaintance often flew to her before important competitions to support her, surrounded her with attention and care, and was often in her support group. The affair of a businessman and a gymnast led to Svetlana becoming pregnant, but this, apparently, was not part of any plans of Shubsky, who had no intention of leaving a family in which not only Vera Glagoleva’s two daughters from her first marriage grew up, but also common daughter Nastya.

Vera Vitalievna eventually became aware of her husband’s relationship with Khorkina and that she had given birth to a daughter from Kirill, but the actress was able to forgive her husband and not destroy her family with Shubsky, in which they raised three children, including their common his daughter is with him.

To dispel rumors about a connection with Khorkina and Shubsky, they decided to stage a performance with the participation of actor Levani Uchaneishvili, who lived in the United States of America. Most likely, Shubsky agreed with the Hollywood actor to divert suspicions of paternity from himself, and Levan diligently portrayed concern for Svetlana and the joy of the birth of her son Svyatoslav, playing the role of Svetlana Khorkina’s future husband.

To further confirm her closeness with Uchaneishvili, Khorkina went to give birth in America, where Levan lives, but beyond that in the relationship between the two famous personalities the matter did not go well - after the birth of Svyatoslav, the actor left for filming and was in no hurry to officially acknowledge paternity, much less prepare for the wedding. To Svetlana’s acquaintances, Levan’s behavior seemed more than strange, so they doubted the veracity of their relationship and they were right.

Svetlana Khorkina and Oleg Kochnov

Six years after the birth of her son, the gymnast came to a celebration dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of the Russian Stuntmen Association, accompanied by an unknown companion, who appearance could be mistaken for Svetlana's father. However, in fact it turned out that it was her husband Oleg Anatolyevich Kochnov, the head of the North-Western security service customs department, with whom Khorkina signed a month before this evening. The age difference between Svetlana and her husband is about twenty-three years, but this does not bother them at all.

All six years, while Khorkina was raising her son alone, Kirill Shubsky, according to her, helped them financially and supported them in every possible way, but a divorce from Vera Glagoleva, with whom he lived for fifteen years, was not part of his plans.

According to the gymnast, her husband found mutual language with her son, otherwise, Svetlana says, she would not have decided to connect her life with Oleg. In her next book, “The Magic of Victory,” the gymnast lifted the veil of secrecy over her personal life and told that she was happy in family life, and Oleg treats her tenderly, carefully and with respect. Her husband is ready to do great things for her, and she is confident in his love.

Khorkina calls her relationship with Shubsky a great experience in her life, thanks to which she began to look at many things differently. A few years later, she insisted that Shubsky recognize his child, which was important not so much for her as for Svyatoslav.

The future athlete was born in the city of Belgorod in 1979. The family came to this city for a short period, but after the birth of the child they decided to stay here forever. The father of the Khorkin family was a qualified builder, and his mother worked as a nurse in one of the city kindergartens. Both parents made great efforts to ensure that the girl did not need anything.

The love for gymnastics did not appear immediately, but a neighbor played a significant role in this. Since her parents were constantly at work, Svetlana was often left alone under the supervision of a woman living in a neighboring apartment. As a result, she advised Svetlana Khorkina’s mother to send her daughter to gymnastics.

Thus, from the age of four, the little girl began to attend the section and show decent results. Her only drawback was her very tall height, which made her physically weak. Therefore, do any difficult exercises it didn't work out.

Svetlana in her youth

Only in 1992 she was accepted into the youth team.

Sports career

In 1995, before the world competitions in Japan, she suffered a back injury during one of the training sessions. She simply jumped off the bars incorrectly, which led to such disastrous consequences.

Doctors predicted further treatment, which was supposed to drag on for several months, and the World Cup in Japan was supposed to start in two weeks. Svetlana decided to continue training and if there were no problems, she would go to the competition.

It is worth noting that she actually managed to visit Japan and even win several medals.

It was after these competitions that she was nicknamed the “Queen of the Uneven Bars.” She always got greatest number points when performing a set of exercises on the uneven bars.

After she became an Olympic champion, she started thinking about education. Upon arrival in Belgorod, I entered the university. She was already dreaming about her sports career trainer. But the athlete quickly became bored with such a life. After several years without gymnastics, I went back to Moscow. In fact, Svetlana Khorkina’s personal life never got in the way. She tried to abstain from all this and most time to play sports.

Svetlana with the Russian flag

In 2000, together with the Russian team, she went to the Olympics in Sydney. At that time, she was already the leader of her team. During one of the training sessions, due to an incorrectly installed apparatus, she fell.

Doctors diagnosed a knee injury, which greatly affected her mood. Svetlana Khorkina doubted that she would be able to show her best result. Save title Olympic champion She still succeeded on the uneven bars.

In 2001, she attended the World Championships, where she also became a champion. At that time, she already had 7 gold medals from world championships. That is, since 1995, not a single athlete has been able to surpass Svetlana in uneven bars exercises. Of course, there was a gradual decline; Khorkina herself could no longer demonstrate high results, as there were many injuries.

In 2003 she again became absolute champion peace. This time the competition took place in Anaheim, where the girl was really able to show her talent. In 2004, the last starts in Khorkina’s sports career took place. The Olympics in Athens did not bring much success, but the girl made it to the final stage of the uneven bars exercise. Biography

Svetlana Vasilievna Khorkina is a Russian gymnast, two-time Olympic champion in parallel bars (1996, 2000), 9-time world champion, including three times in the absolute championship and five times in parallel bars, and 13-time European champion (three times in absolute championship). Honored Master of Sports of Russia (1995). Mordovian by nationality.

First Deputy Head of CSKA (FAI RF CSKA) since February 5, 2016. Reserve Lieutenant Colonel.

Career

Khorkina began playing sports in 1983. She trained under the guidance of Boris Pilkin. Since 1992, Khorkina has been a member of the Russian national artistic gymnastics team.

1994-1995

Khorkina won her first senior international medal in 1994 at the World Championships in Brisbane: a silver medal on vault and another silver on uneven bars. She performed even more successfully at the European Championships that same year. Here she won silver in the all-around behind teammate Dina Kochetkova and gold on the uneven bars. Khorkina also competed in the Goodwill Games and the World Team Championships this year. Her first all-around victory came in 1995 at the European Cup, where she also won medals in the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise. She was the top contender for all-around gold at the World Championships that year. She does a double twist on the floor exercise instead of a triple. This led to a low score for the program, but flawless executions on beam and vault and a stellar performance on uneven bars helped her take second place behind Ukraine's Liliya Podkopaeva. In the finals of the uneven bars exercises, Khorkina won gold medal with an incredible score of 9.90, ahead of China's Mo Huilan.

1996

Prior to the Olympics, Svetlana retained her European and world titles on uneven bars, helped the Russian team win silver at the European Championships, and also took bronze on vault. A fall from the balance beam in the all-around prevented her from competing for a medal; she only took sixth place, but this was no longer a surprise. Thanks to her recent successes, Svetlana was considered a favorite at the Atlanta Games. AND Russian team looked much stronger than at the 1992 Games after the collapse of the USSR. However, the Olympic Games were a disappointment for both Svetlana and the Russian team.

Svetlana and the more experienced team members, Rozalia Galieva and Dina Kochetkova, performed their routine well, but the younger athletes made a number of mistakes and seemed unnerved by the crowd noise and Team USA's strong performance. The all-around was no consolation either - having perfectly performed the floor exercises, beam exercises and vault, Svetlana could not cope with her nerves and fell from her favorite apparatus - the uneven bars, finishing the exercises only in 15th place. However, Khorkina sweetened the pill for herself with gold in the individual uneven bars competition.

1997-2000

Khorkina's performances for 4 next years were unstable, as were the performances of her compatriot Alexei Nemov. Svetlana can perform excellent exercises or succumb to anxiety. Grades were a sore subject. At the 1997 World Championships in Lausanne, changes to the scoring system were expected to negatively impact Svetlana, but she won her first overall world title after a stellar performance on the uneven bars, receiving the highest score. She pushed Olympic champion Simone Amanar into second place, repeating the scenario of the 1998 European Championships. Over the next two years after winning the World Championships, Svetlana's skills became almost perfect, with rare exceptions. She introduced new complex elements on all apparatuses, especially on the uneven bars and beam. Khorkina continued to dominate on the uneven bars and soon earned the nickname "Queen of the Uneven Bars."

Khorkina won the all-around at the 1998 European Championships, but failed at the Goodwill Games. She started the 1999 World Championships as the favorite in the all-around, but after a disastrous performance on the balance beam, she was left without a medal. However, she continued her winning streak on uneven bars, winning her fourth consecutive world title.

2000

She started the Olympic Games in Sydney again as a favorite in the all-around. In the team championship, Khorkina performed a very difficult jump, which no one had seen before; it was later named Khorkina II. Also showed good results on floor exercise and uneven bars, qualifying for the finals. Her score on the balance beam also allowed her to reach the final, but Russia had stronger gymnasts on the balance beam - Lobaznyuk and Produnova, and according to the rules, only two athletes from one country can be in the final. The rest of the team was successful in the preliminary competition, easily defeating the Romanian team and it looked like this would be the Olympics for Russian gymnasts.

However, the ending was a nightmare. Khorkina fell from her favorite uneven bars, Produnova sat on the floor exercise, and Lobaznyuk and Zamolodchikova fell from the balance beam. The first three mistakes were not catastrophic, since according to those rules, lower scores on the apparatus were discarded, so the falls did not ruin the team's chances. Less famous gymnasts performed more confidently, but this still did not allow them to win the gold medal. The Russians finished in second place - behind the Romanian national team. With an error-free performance, Russia would have won the first gold in artistic gymnastics. They blamed Khorkina - if she had carried out her program flawlessly, the team would not have lost the gold. Having descended from the platform, Khorkina took off her silver medal. For the second Olympics in a row, her team won only silver.

When the all-around competition began, it turned out that the jumping horse was set 5 centimeters lower than necessary. A number of gymnasts made uncharacteristic mistakes in their jumps because of this. Khorkina complained to the judges about this, but her words were ignored, but Svetlana was told that the mistake had been corrected. Leading after the first jump, she falls on the second due to the incorrect height of the horse. Devastated and upset after this incident, Khorkina interrupts her uneven bars performances for the first time in a long time. Finally discovering their mistake, the judges allow the victims to repeat their jumps, but the scores on other apparatus cannot be corrected, and Khorkina refuses to repeat the jump, after which she takes 10th place, leaving the platform in tears. She showed excellent results on the mat and beam, and if not for the vault, she would have easily won gold in the all-around. In several interviews after the Olympics, Khorkina called this incident “a black spot in my soul.” In a tense struggle, Svetlana manages to retain the title of Olympic champion on uneven bars. Once again she defeats the Chinese woman, this time Ling Ji. She also won a silver medal, losing to her compatriot Elena Zamolodchikova. Khorkina also had the right to participate in the vault final, but gave it to Elena Zamolodchikova.

2001-2003

Khorkina decided to compete at the next Olympics. At the 2001 World Championships, she won the title of overall champion, as well as gold in the vault and uneven bars. With 5 world champion titles and 2 Olympic champion titles, Khorkina becomes the most titled gymnast on one apparatus. From 1995 to 2001, she won every World Championship and Olympic uneven bars title. In 2002, Khorkina won the all-around at the European Championships; it is believed that she won only due to the judges' favor. In 2003, Svetlana admitted that gymnastics had taken a toll on her body and that she began to “feel her age,” but she promised to compete at the Olympics. At the World Championships in Anaheim, she became the absolute champion for the third time, which no woman had ever achieved before.

2004

Khorkina was again the favorite of the Games; this was her last Olympics. She reached the finals only in the all-around and uneven bars. In the team competition, her strong performances helped Russia win bronze, which was judged favorably, in stark contrast to the reaction to silver in 2000 (the team was significantly weaker in 2004).

Finally wins a medal in the all-around Olympic Games, but only silver. At a press conference after the performance, Khorkina stated that the victory was given to the American even before the start of the competition, essentially accusing the judges of bias.

Gymnastic elements of Khorkina

To the cinema

She became one of the central characters in the film “Champions: Faster. Higher. Stronger", which was based on real events.

Mentioned in the series "Gymnasts" (Make It Or Break It, 4th episode of Season III) as a gymnast who achieved great success with inappropriate height for the uneven bars.

She is not only a famous gymnast. Svetlana Khorkina is also a television journalist, politician, book author, actor, shooter, scientist, officer, singer and outspoken fashion model. Doesn't sound very plausible? However, all this is true. Read an article about the life of an outstanding athlete - an athlete about whom films began to be made!

Gymnastics - from four years old

Nothing foreshadowed such an extraordinary fate. Svetlana was born on January 19, 1979 in the family of a worker and a nurse, in quiet Belgorod. At the age of four, the girl became seriously ill, and to improve her health she was sent to the gymnastics section. In youth competitions, Sveta invariably took first place, and at the age of thirteen she became a member of the Russian national team. rhythmic gymnastics. At seventeen, Khorkina was already waiting - Atlanta!

Success

After the failure at the 1992 Olympics, our gymnasts desperately needed medals! Svetlana became a medalist in both the team all-around and the uneven bars competition. From that time on, parallel bars became Khorkina’s “horse,” although at first they doubted this success. Why?

Before Khorkina, uneven bars competitions were the realm of Chinese women. It was believed that only girls 150 centimeters tall could count on winning here. Are there many Russian athletes with such dimensions? Svetlana, with her 164 centimeters, seemed like a giant against this background. At first, the coach didn’t want to practice parallel bars with her! The girl was saved by her hard work and amazing stubbornness. It ended with the two of them and their coach developing innovative techniques for “tall” gymnasts. Svetlana’s original numbers amazed the audience: the girl managed to turn her weak sides- into strong ones.

In Atlanta (1996), she won gold for her performances on the uneven bars and silver in the team all-around. Khorkina had been the Russian champion since 1993, the European champion since 1994. And there were two more Olympics ahead: Sydney and Athens.

In total, Svetlana had seven Olympic medals, and two of them are gold. Khorkina became world champion nine times and European champion thirteen times. Her successes in performances on the uneven bars became especially significant: there was not a year without gold medals. Svetlana deservedly began to be called the “Queen of the parallel bars.”

And sorrows

Khorkina's path to victory was not paved with roses. The artistic, talented and amazingly efficient gymnast still had weak spots. Svetlana is an emotional and vulnerable person. Failures, and especially injustice, easily infuriated the girl. The scandal with the jumping horse at the Sydney Olympics became very famous. Contrary to the rules, the horse was lowered by 5 centimeters due to someone's negligence or malicious intent. The girl tried to object, but her complaint was ignored. Because of her lowered horse, Anastasia jumped poorly. Then the jump was allowed to be repeated, but the athlete was so upset that she “failed” part of the performance and left in tears. She had to give interviews to journalists wearing dark glasses so that TV viewers would not see red eyes.

Svetlana turned out to be an unusually “long-lived” athlete. During the Sydney Games she was already 21 years old - a very respectable age for gymnasts. Khorkina went to Athens at the age of 25. It seemed like this was the limit! Svetlana managed to win silver and bronze here, but she failed the competition on her favorite uneven bars.

After the Olympics in Athens, Svetlana Khorkina announced the end of her sports career.

Is there life after sports?

After leaving sports, Khorkina’s life became even more eventful and interesting. The multiple champion remained a celebrity. At the same time, the young woman had the opportunity to take care of her personal life and arrange her female happiness.

However, not everything was smooth here at first. Although a year after the official end of her career, in 2005, she became a mother, Khorkina carefully concealed who the father of her son Svyatoslav was, repeatedly declaring that she gave birth to a child “for herself.” For some time, many thought that Khorkin would become a couple - Kirill Shubsky, who was credited with paternity thanks to Svetlana’s autobiographical book “Somersault in Heels,” did not divorce his wife (Vera Glagoleva), so Khorkina’s personal life still remained a secret.

And only 6 years later the athlete decided to stop hiding. In 2011, at the Russian Association of Stuntmen, Svetlana Khorkina made her first official appearance with her husband, FSB General Oleg Kochnov.

In the photo: Svetlana Khorkina with her husband Oleg Kochnov

Svetlana knows how to manage time. She has a rule: get up at exactly seven o'clock every day, even if it is a holiday or a day off. This is probably why the former athlete managed to successfully perform in many roles.

Like many other honored athletes, Svetlana actively takes part in social and political life countries.

She was elected as a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party, a member of the Patriarchal Council for Culture, and vice-president of the Artistic Gymnastics Federation. In addition, Khorkina successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis and also received the military rank of captain (since she played for the CSK Air Force). Now she dreams of becoming a major and has an unusual hobby for a figure skater - shooting with military weapons.

The Olympic champion wrote books dedicated to gymnastics (“Somersault in heels” and “Gymnastics for body and soul”) and published a disc with her songs, for some time she was the host of the TV show “Home.” Svetlana also tried herself on stage: in the play “ Venus" Theater named after. She managed to successfully play the Mossovet main role. In her youth, Khorkina agreed to appear in a very explicit manner for Playboy magazine.

These are the different facets of the personality of the gymnast, whose performances constituted a glorious page in our sport.

Svetlana Khorkina is one of the main characters in the recently filmed film “Champions: Faster. Higher. Stronger". The role of Khorkina was played by Christina Asmus, who herself was a former gymnast and is now a successful actress and young mother. A sports background, diet and self-discipline are the main secrets: she looks incredibly organic in the role of the slender Khorkina - the trailer for the film convincingly proves this.

The film "Champions: Faster. Higher. Stronger" will be released in February 2016.

Svetlana Khorkina does not need a special introduction, since the regalia and titles she has won put her name at the highest level in her sports career. She became a three-time European champion and took first place in world competitions three times - no one had received such regalia before her. The athlete also received numerous awards for sporting achievements, including the Order of Friendship (1997), the Order of Honor (2001), and the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree (2006). And this is not all of her merits.

That is why the biography of Svetlana Khorkina deserves separate consideration in order to understand how she managed to reach such dizzying heights in the sports field.

Biography

The future celebrity was born in the city of Belgorod on January 19, 1979 in ordinary family. Her father was a simple worker, and her mother worked in a hospital. The girl was sent to sports at the age of four. In her childhood, Svetlana Khorkina was an active child, from whom energy simply “bounced.” The future could play with the boys on the street all day long. One day the girl got sick, and the doctor recommended that she go in for sports. Sveta’s parents chose gymnastics. Very soon the girl began to make progress, for which she received praise from her coach Boris Pilkin, who immediately saw in the persistent little girl a calling to be an athlete. She was the best at competitions among children. After this, Khorkina’s preparations for the Olympic Games began. As a result, she was given an offer to compete for the country at international competitions. She was only 13 years old then.

After this, a new milestone came in Svetlana’s life. Khorkina suddenly felt the full burden of responsibility that was placed on her; she realized that she could not let down her country, her parents, her coach. At that moment the girl realized that she no longer belonged to herself. However, the future Russian sports star did not forget that she had a personal life. The future professional athlete still managed to communicate with friends and look for her soulmate during the break between training and competitions. Gymnast Svetlana Khorkina, in addition to being persistent and goal-oriented person, also an attractive and extravagant woman.

Climbing Olympus

Between 1993 and 1998, she won Russian, European and world champion titles in various gymnastic disciplines.

At the 1996 US Olympics, she received a gold medal for the uneven bars and team all-around. Previously, the palm belonged to Chinese gymnasts, who were the best in uneven bars exercises.

It is noteworthy that at the very beginning the coach doubted Svetlana’s success, since she has tall, which is not the best for a gymnast best quality. However, Khorkina was persistent in her desire to participate in international competitions and made every effort in training. And the mentor could not help but notice such perseverance and desire, so he began to think about what training method would be most optimal for Svetlana. As a result, for the uneven bars exercises, elements were introduced that no one had previously performed, and Khorkina coped with them brilliantly.

Her hard work and perseverance helped her win gold at the World Championships in 1999 for her uneven bars exercises. A year later, at the Olympics in Sydney, she was again first on uneven bars and second in floor exercises and team all-around.

For her services in gymnastics disciplines, she was awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of Russia in artistic gymnastics.

Personal life
